Service for Salvation?
Ecclesiastes 5:19 – As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.
Do you know God desires to financially bless you? He is not against you living in a big house or driving a nice car. It brings Him glory. Don’t partner with the evil stronghold of poverty. Let Father open His good treasure to you. Ask Him to bless the work of your hands and enlarge your territory. Rejoice and give thanks for increase. He is a God of abundance.
Declaration: The Lord has given me the power to gain wealth. He is blessing me so I can be a blessing.
Service for Salvation? When you get to heaven, there are two tests. The first test is a test of holiness. If you’ve given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve passed! Jesus’ righteousness has been credited to you as an A+.
If you haven’t, your name is not in the Lamb’s Book of Life. So, get yourself saved and your name engraved in those pages so you can be holy or “set apart” for the Kingdom.
The second test is the Judgment Seat of Christ or the “Bema Seat” of Christ. This test is for those who have been found in the Lamb’s Book of Life. The Bible says after those who are dead have been judged unholy, then He judges the holy according to how you served.
“But Pastor Troy, you mean Jesus is going to be mad at me because I didn’t do enough nice things for people?” No! The test of the Judgment Seat is not for punishment, it’s for rewards. This test is a party!
This is something you need to know: you will participate and it doesn’t need to blindside you. Here’s what’s on this test: Did you serve? Did you conform your life to the image of God’s plan? Did you love others and reflect Jesus through your actions and help some people get saved?
This is not a heaven or hell issue. This is a reward issue. Were your works – how you actually lived your life and served – were they man-made for your lifetime or were they Kingdom born for eternity?
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we for an imperishable. – 1 Corinthians 9:24-25
You’re to strive for imperishable or eternal service – service that brings people closer to Jesus and testifies of His goodness. That is your sole purpose in this life – bringing people to a saving faith in Jesus. Will you pass the test?

You Don’t Own Me
Galatians 5:18 – But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
When you were born again, the resurrection power and the Spirit of the Living God came into your physical body and your soul. It’s the life of Christ within you. The law brings bondage and burdens, but Christ gives life more abundantly. When you follow His Spirit, He will always lead you into your full potential. His Spirit is bringing a greater depth of understanding. Let His Spirit have full dominion over your mind, will and emotions and experience freedom from bondage like never before.
Declaration: The Spirit of the Risen King lives on the inside of me. And I align my spirit with His Spirit. I am free in every way.
You Don’t Own Me!I can’t tell you how important it is to understand that the depth of your relationship with Jesus determines the depth of your intimacy with Him. Likewise, the depth of your intimacy with Him determines the secret that is revealed to you.
The reason so many people in the Body of Christ do not know what I’m telling you is because religion has taught them that everything is about getting saved. It’s true. Religion tells us when we get saved everything will be great as if Jesus never said,
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
There is faith unto salvation, but there’s another world of promise you’re qualified for once you get saved. The key to unlocking those promises is intimacy. If you never move from being a child of the King to a servant, then a friend, then a bride, you’re not living the fully redeemed life Jesus died to offer you.
Let me say it this way: if you halt between two opinions –as the Bible says – then you’re going to live a bipolar Christian lifestyle. What about the sin in your life? If you’re saved, you are qualified to displace it.
You’re qualified to walk in the Promised Land, confront a stronghold that’s always been in your life and say, “Come down, in the name of Jesus.” You’re qualified to walk right up to a giant and say, “Die, in the name of Jesus. You don’t rule me.”
But you don’t qualify for that if you ain’t saved. So, get yourself saved and become part of God’s family. It takes time and communication to build a relationship and Father God is no exception. The more effort you put into it, the more promises you’ll see fulfilled.
Do you want the keys to your promise? Do you understand your identity and how it is connected to your destiny? You won’t find these things in comfortable places. Go after the heart of God. Give Him your time and attention and let salvation be your starting point – not your finish line.

What is a Woman?
2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Redemption is the central theme of the Bible. It’s what Jesus Christ came to bring and who He himself became. There is nothing created that redemption doesn’t change. Redemption changes you from being lost and alone, and brings you into a family. From being hated and rejected to being celebrated and accepted. From being wicked and selfish to being holy. Redemption brings enslaved people into freedom from the skeletons in the closets and transforms dead things into living things. King Jesus comes to make your life anew.
Declaration: I’m a new creation. My past is not my future. I have been redeemed.
What is a Woman? It seems there is an entire faction of our society today that has lost its dad gum mind. They are actually confused over what a woman is. To me, it is pretty darn simple, but the lost lefties don’t have a clue anymore.
To set the record straight today, let’s go back to the beginning. When God Almighty revealed Eve, who had been hidden inside of Adam as a rib to protect his heart, He stood her upright and Adam was so astounded, he said, “Whoa! Man!” and the word “woman” was created.
OK, so that was a bad joke. It didn’t really go that way. This is what Adam said and it was deep with hidden meaning, just like the woman herself:
And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” – Genesis 2:23
As a numbers guy, I cannot help but notice the prophetic number in the verse. Two is a faithful witness and 23 is the year we’re living in and we need to be a faithful witness of what this verse reveals.
The Hebrew word that came out of Adam’s astounded mouth was actually “Ishah.” Woman is “Ishah” and that word has three letters. Let’s dive into the original language and see what they mean.
Aleph: picture of a head – authority, strong leaderShin: picture of sharp teeth – vitality, passionHey: picture of open window – to behold, perspective, wisdom, insight, higher viewThere it is again! Wisdom and insight are a part of woman’s faith package just like Solomon said in Proverbs dozens of times. We learned yesterday that God’s constant companion since everlasting was Wisdom, and that Wisdom is a woman. Again, God wanted the same for mankind so out of all the created beings, mankind received the gift of a helpmeet, Wisdom, to complete him.
Before I sign off today, I also have to show you that the letters of Ishah are also numbers, and they speak a mighty word of woman’s identity.
Aleph is the number one, which is all about unity. She is made to complete and unite those around her. She’s the glue that holds the family together.
Shin is the number 300, which is all about being a warrior. Women was made to fight for her family and what is right in God’s eyes. She’s no wimp or damsel in distress. Woman is a fighter.
Hey is the number five, which is God’s number for grace. Woman was made to give love, comfort, protection and understanding even when those around her don’t deserve it. Grace is a gift that covers a lot of wrongs and woman was created to display and disperse it to her family as an agent of construction–not destruction.
So, what is a woman? God knows and now so do you.

The Woman Wisdom
Matthew 5:16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Every Christian has been given spiritual gifts by the Lord. These gifts are not to make you feel good. They are abilities to minister to people around you. We all have a ministry. It might not be your profession, but it is your daily occupation. You and I are ministers of Good News who were told to occupy until the Lord returns. Use your gifts to bring hope and light into the darkest places. Be a light and bring glory to God.
Declaration: Jesus is the source of my light. I bring Him everywhere.
The Woman WisdomAlthough Mother’s Day is behind us, the subject of woman and her role in the natural and supernatural is still at the top of my mind. You know I preach from my overflow–what God is speaking to me about–and combatting this gender confusion mess is overflowing in my spirit.
First, we know women were not an afterthought. They were created the same time as man, just not revealed at the same time. Second, we know she is a helpmeet, which may sound wimpy–like a servant or helper. That is not true. A helpmeet is a shield of strength and an “in your face” warrior that complements man as his equal in value to the Lord.
Today, I want to tell you about superpower women have and it’s in the gift of wisdom. “But pastor Troy, I thought men were smarter than women and that’s why God put them as the head of the woman?”
My friend, it’s not that simple though it is pretty glorious. Check out the book of Proverbs. Throughout that book, Solomon, the wisest man ever to live, referred to wisdom as a “she” and a “her” dozens and dozens of times.
Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, at the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words – Proverbs 1:20-21
Wisdom is a woman and guess what? She was in the beginning with God. What?!?
“The Lord possessed me (Wisdom) at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was ever an earth.” – Proverbs 8:22-23
In the supernatural realm, Wisdom has been God Almighty’s constant companion from the beginning. My guess is, that’s what He wanted for man as well so He put wisdom into the very DNA of His daughters. Solomon tapped into that revelation because he begs the reader to find, know, hear, receive, do not forsake and do not scorn wisdom.
If you want wisdom as your constant companion, treat the women in your life like Solomon says. Your cup will overflow.

Construction or Destruction?
Amos 5:15 – Hate evil, love good; Establish justice in the gate. It may be that the Lord God of hosts will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
The fear of the Lord is a big deal. It means you’re prioritizing God, His justice, His Kingdom, and you are willing to go after those things. When you do, you get to bring His goodness to His people and His church. Don’t bail, stay loyal to Him no matter what the world says or does. He never fails.
Declaration: A thousand of my generations will be blessed because You have chosen me. I will remain loyal to you, King Jesus.
Construction or Destruction?Yesterday we solved the mystery of woman: She was created with Adam, but not revealed until he discovered his need for a helpmeet. Helpmeet in Hebrew is “ezer knegdo” – the unifying shield of encouragement that is openly and boldly of equal worth on earth and in the Kingdom of God.
In short, woman was made to be an agent of construction, not destruction. And that makes sense because, no matter what the loony left tells you, only women can construct babies. It is their distinct purpose for mankind.
How do women construct? With their love. Man can build a house, but the woman makes it a home. She feeds, clothes, decorates, organizes, and generally takes what the man gives her and makes it better. She especially makes him better.
Because she is made to surround, protect, give aid and relief, woman is the safe place for man to be himself. If he fails, she comforts and encourages him to get back up. If he’s hurting, she comforts him. If he’s confused or unsure of the future, she speaks wisdom into him, which we’ll talk more about tomorrow.
The bottom line is that woman was made to protect man’s heart. Here’s how I know.
And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man – Genesis 2:21-22
Men, if you give a woman your heart–if you love her more than you love yourself and you put her dreams and desires before your own, she will become a mighty fortress for you. She was made to build and multiply the love you give her, so give her a reason to.
Likewise, if you give a woman grief, heartache and trouble, she will multiply that as well. My friend, when woman goes against her God-given nature and becomes an agent of destruction, all hell will break loose in your life. Don’t go there!
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. – Ephesians 5:28
Remember men, that woman a literal part of your body, so treat her with kindness and love. If you do, that little lady will fight the gates of hell for you.
Ladies, today I want to encourage you to be agents of construction: speak life into the men in your life. Build them up in word and action. Protect their hearts, their reputations and minds, and see how you can multiply the life God has given you to steward–his and yours.

The Mystery of Woman
2 Kings 5:14 – So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
Many think of seven as a “lucky” number. However, there is no such thing as a good or bad number. Because God does speak through numbers, seven marks where God is doing something by His Spirit apart from any other source. Let the Lord invade your circumstances and get with His program.
Declaration: The Lord is speaking and I will not ignore His voice. I want to be clean.
The Mystery of WomanI love the Hebrew language. It is so deep with hidden meaning that you just have to search out. With that said, one of the biggest mysteries in the universe is woman. Now, I’m not just saying that to be funny or rib you ladies – pun definitely intended!
Think about it. There are no females among the heavenly beings. None. The Sons of God or “Watchers”–high level angelic beings–were jealous of man because man not only had a helpmeet, a woman, but that they also had offspring. You can find that in Genesis 6, but that is a story for another day. Back to they mystery of woman.
I would argue that woman was created the day God breathed into Adam and he stood upright. She was created but not revealed. It’s right here in very first chapter of the Bible.
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness … So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. – Genesis 1:26-27
Woman was no afterthought as many think. She was a mystery from the very start. But why? Let’s look at scripture.
And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” – Genesis 2:18
The King James says “helpmeet.” That word is the key. It is made of two Hebrew words; “ezer” and “knegdo.” This is where is gets fun and you’ll see why.
“Ezer” is the word for help, but it is much more rich and deep than our English language can translate. Ezer is about surrounding, protecting, giving aid and bringing relief. There are three things the Jews say ezer does:
Shields – does not exposeUnifies – does not divideEncourages – does not destroy or discourageThe Hebrew word “knegdo” has a dual meaning, and this is crazy cool. First, it’s about being obvious, in your face–not hiding but boldly standing. It also means “parallel, equal or in opposition/completion of.” What’s that all about?
Think of two sides of a coin or both banks of a river. That is what knegdo is all about–that’s obvious. Yes, another pun. So woman is separate but equal to man, but hear me say this to you: being equal does not mean she is the same as man. Man and woman are not the same, but they are equal.
Equal is not about a list of physical or mental traits, which is what “same” implies. Equal denotes value. When God created Adam with the mystery of Eve yet to be revealed, He already called her “ezer knegdo”– the unifying shield of encouragement that is openly and boldly of equal worth on earth and in the Kingdom of God.
Newsflash! You will not hear that from mainstream media or the feminist movement. They tell you the lie that women are the same as men when they are not. Women do, however, hold equal value and have a dynamic purpose only they can fulfill. Mystery solved!

Fear Not Little Children
Galatians 5:13 – For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
What’s your purpose? All have different assignments, but your purpose is to make God’s goodness known throughout the earth. How? By developing selfless kingdom skill sets. Lack of empathy is the essence of all evil. Let God’s goodness and truth lead you into messy places full of darkness. Get personally involved. Feed the people, clothe them, be present with the hurting and lonely, give generously of yourself. Is there not a cause?
Declaration: I treat people on earth as they are treated in heaven. I am God’s response to evil on earth.
FEAR NOT LITTLE CHILDRENI want to encourage you to go through Psalms 8. It’s all about the majestic side of God and, my friends, His indescribable majesty is something all of us need to tap into.
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” – Psalms 8:9
You know what? Each of us has this giant hole in our life that only God can fill. We have to recognize that and embrace His willingness to fill it!
It’s His joy, His willingness to be that for you! It’s His willingness to give you the Kingdom. Jesus says, “Fear not little children. It is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” It doesn’t wear Him out to be your Daddy. It makes Him happy.
Do you know Him as your Daddy? Do everything you can do to learn how to approach God in a relationship as His son or daughter, and not just a servant. Servants don’t know what the master is doing. They have no rights and no inheritance. In short, a servant is an orphan.
Jesus’ blood paid for you to be a joint heir – to share in His inheritance, eat at His table and have access to all the power and authority that He has. Are you a member of the family or a servant? Are you a beloved child or an orphan?
Let the majesty of Jesus overwhelm you. Let Him fill that empty space in your heart. Surrender those strongholds in your life and let your inheritance take root. It’s indescribable.

Love and Be Loved
Romans 5:12 – Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned
Death cannot be avoided. It must be conquered and overcome. Though all face death, all are offered life through Jesus Christ. Worrying about tomorrow’s problems will cause us to miss today’s blessings. Choose and live the life of Christ, being loyal to the King and His Kingdom. Rebel against the global assault on the promises of God. Jesus defeated death so you could overcome.
Declaration: I fear the Lord not death. Jesus won my victory at the cross.
LOVE AND BE LOVEDYou are the beloved. That’s your role and place. Above everything else, you were made to be loved.
Some of you really suck at that. You have every reason in the world why God can’t love you. He commands you to love Him so you can accept the invitation for Him to love you. That’s your purpose. That’s where you belong.
Whatever issue you may have, God is not your issue. Let me say that again – God is not your issue. It’s not the Son who’s your issue, it’s not the Father or the Holy Spirit. We are the beloved.
When you understand that and begin to walk in that great love, that’s alignment. That’s positioning. That’s finding your place – the place He created for you before you were ever formed in the womb of your mother.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. –
Ephesians 2:10
His whole plan and purpose is for you to walk in the position where you are the beloved. That’s His invitation to you. Get into alignment for your assignment. Love and be loved.

A Rock and a River
James 5:11 – Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
Behind every great person of God is a great affliction. When you are fully aware of the pain of others, you will not to make a big deal out of your own circumstances. The Spirit of God does not lead by what feels good, but by righteousness. We all face pain, disappointment, betrayal, rejection and sickness, but God’s grace is greater than these. Pain is not forever. Jesus walked in victory and pain. So will you.
Declaration: I will endure to the end. Pain is temporary. Salvation is eternal.
A ROCK AND A RIVERToday, I want to start off with this basic theory: when it comes to the Kingdom, you’re supposed to have theories and be a little bit weird. Because you and I are always searching for understanding and wisdom, our theories are not the devil.
When I start presenting my theory on time and timelines, there’s going to be people who say, “Well that’s just a theory. He can’t prove that. I have a different theory.”
Here’s what I say to that: so what? Listen, you don’t have to draw a line in the sand and say, “If your theory is not my theory then we have to be at war with each other.” As a matter of fact, within your walk, there should be two different parts of your understanding that develop your faith.
Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. – 1 Peter 2:4-5
First, you and I are called living stones in the Temple of God. Then, in 1 Corinthians 12:12, we are called members of the Body of Christ. There’s a big difference between being a living stone in a temple of the Holy Spirit and being a member of the Spirit-filled body.
Being living stones in the Temple is a picture of being joined fitly together. It means there are some things we do not budge on. We go, “Nope. I’m sorry, but I’m not going to cross that line. That thing is precious to me and I’m not going to allow any devil from hell to come in and steal it from me.”
Being part of the body means you’re always growing, changing and connecting. There’s a flow to it because revelation comes in waves. This is all about being alive, striving and going after things. This is where theories are born.
You need both of these things to be an overcomer in the Kingdom, and time is a topic we’re going to tear apart so be prepared to be a rock and a river!

Key Steps to Accomplishing Vision
Wednesday, May 10, 2023
Pastor Jerry Sellers, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX
I want to continue to share with you my journey on discovering key principles on how the Kingdom operates and how to function in the Kingdom.
A month ago, I spoke on the topic Discovering Your Kingdom Vision. It was all about unlocking your God given potential.
If you did not get a chance to hear that message, you may want to go back and listen to it. You can find it on the TroyBrewer.com website under sermons or go to ODX.TV under Sermons.
Tonight I want to add to that by sharing some action steps or “Keys to Accomplishing the Vision” to the potential that God has placed and planted in you. I want to equip you to accomplish the purpose for which God created you.
I remember about 3 years ago when I was in California on a prophetic training conference that God gave me a phrase that was really challenging and motivating. I want to share that with you…
STEWARD YOUR FULLEST POTENTIAL
I believe in my core that we will give an account for what we could have done. I shared in the message a month ago that the richest place on earth is the graveyard–the cemetery–because buried 6 foot under the ground are books, songs, and poems that where supposed to be written but never were. Ideas for new business that should have been started, but never were. Inventions that where meant to be created, but never were. Cures for diseases never were developed. So many dreams God dreams were never allowed to reach their fullest potential because they died within the individual who God gave them to.
I implore you tonight to ask Holy Spirit, “What is my fullest potential? What dream have you given me to pursue? What is really my purpose and my potential” and then get busy going after that!
I recently read the poorest person alive is a person without a dream. As long as you have dreams, you are full of hope. A person who is living and going after their potential is a person who is full of hope.
Let me suggest the most frustrated person alive is the person who has a dream but never sees it become a reality. It’s frustrating and depressing to have an idea–a God idea–and you never get to see it come to pass.
Many will only congregate in the arena of “interest” when it comes to their dream, their vision, their potential. They will never move out of interest to the arena of “impact.” Your God dream, your God vision, your God-given potential has impact attached to it.
It is given to you to give back to this earth and to impact mankind. It’s apart of your kingship. It is incorporated into you ruling and reigning, having dominion and operating in the authority Christ has given you.
Ecclesiastes 9:10
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Whatever God has placed in your hand to steward, you must do it with all your passion, intelligence, anointing, favor, and might or it will not happen. Hidden in this passion is a principle–a key that most people miss.
You only accomplish what you fight for!
If you’re only interested in your dream, it will never come to pass. But if you are willing to put all of your might, your strength and energy into your dream–your vision–then nobody can stop it from coming to pass.
This scripture also implies that if you put hands to do something, there will also be resistance. There will be pressure, difficulties, barriers, and opposition. You have to respond with determination–with diligence–with pressure and with all your might to achieve your dream.
Say with me…….DESTINY DEMANDS DILIGENCE
To birth this God dream, it will take hard work and all your might. It will take internal motivation to manifest an external dream to achieve success. I deeply believe God has placed within every one of us a dream, a vision, a call that is designed to give purpose and meaning to our life. Everyone listening to this was born with a dream that God implanted in you. No man gives dreams–only God does. Too many have caused their dreams to be buried in the depths of the cemetery. They have robbed the rest who are living of the impact that dream would have accomplished.
There is not enough darkness in the world to put out the light that is in you. If you are willing to capture it, there is no force that can stop it. All of the darkness in the world–all the darkness of peoples opinions–all of the darkness of your past failures cannot put out the light, the potential of what God has downloaded into you heart.
God has placed a vision in your heart–a little bit of eternity in your heart–that He gave you to deliver within time. In other words God has put a little piece of what He wants done in your heart.
The challenge is, what He placed in your heart is in His heart and He lives in eternity. So God has done something that is actually awesome. God has placed in you a little piece of eternity that He wants you to deliver in time. So God put you in time so time could see a little piece of eternity that’s in God. In Psalms 42:7, the Bible calls this “Deep calling unto Deep.”
There is something in each one of us that is being called by eternity, and God is actually calling us to do something that He already has in His heart to do.
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 10
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven…I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.
That means every human being comes to earth with a weight. Let me give you a phrase…
RESPONSIBLE URGE
God placed within you a responsible urge. God has placed upon every person, whether you’re 16 or 66, there is something within you that is a burden. In the Hebrew, it can be translated as a heavy responsibility, a cry in your heart. What is that cry?
That is the cry of purpose. It is the cry that says, “I was born to do something. I don’t know what it is yet, but I feel there is something bigger than me that I am supposed to do.” That burden comes from God and that burden is found in verse 11.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time.
THAT WORD “BEAUTIFUL” IS THE GREEK WORD “KAIROS” – PERFECT TIMING. SAME WORD AS THE GATE CALLED BEAUTIFUL IN ACTS 3:2. ONLY TWO PLACES IN SCRIPTURE.
That means God has put in you something for you to do. He also placed a time for you to do it within. Therefore, in verse 1, “to every purpose there is a season, a time to do it.” Whatever you were born to do, God has placed a time and a season to get it done.
Now, time is the duration of your life and a season is all about the different phases of your life. The first season is dependency–where you depend on outside and eternal help. In this season, you need help. You need God. You need others. This where you learn. You’re being taught. You’re being trained.
The next season is independence. It’s where you capture what you were born to do and your dependence on others is very minimal. You focus in on your goals for your life.
The third season inter-dependence. This is where you are so free that you give your dream to other people. You can pass on your vision to the next generation.
The last season is death. It’s where you literally become the fertilizer for other people’s dreams in the next generation. If people don’t pick up your dream where you left off, you did not live life effectively. People should be able to feast upon what you left them.
If you live properly, history will not be able to ignore that you lived. That’s the way you was born; to live to make an impact. To make a mark in life that leaves fertilizer and seed for take root for the next generation.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
Not only did God give you a purpose, but that purpose is a piece of eternity God placed in your heart. And that piece of eternity is what makes you uncomfortable. Do you know what it is to live in time attached to eternity? Do you know what it is to be waking up every day hearing a call that is outside of this present world? Do you know what it is to hear in your heart a scream that is waiting for a response from the unseen?
That means God has put in your heart something that calls the unseen into the seen. That’s this “deep calling unto deep” and everybody has it a piece of eternity. That why we not only must pursue the dream that God has placed in our hearts but I believe we will also be held accountable what we do with it.
The vision–the dream in your heart–is the spark that makes life work. Without this vision and piece of eternity we are stewarding, we are merely existing; taking up space and wasting the air we are breathing.
Life is worth much more than this! It is more valuable than this! I believe God has a vision, a dream, a purpose that will carry you all the way into eternity because that is what is pulling you. When you die, you are supposed to leave this earth not on retirement or on a pension, but on purpose. Not because, “I’m tired” but because “I’m finished. I have completed everything. I have stewarded my fullest potential.”
Let me say this: Until you set your attention, passion and focus on living out your dream, you will live a frustrated life. everything you do that is outside of your dream will lead to unhappiness. The Bible says,
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
This scripture means the only thing that will bring fulfillment is living out God’s dream. Everything else falls short and will bring discontent and dissatisfaction. God’s dream can actually bring depression until you do it. You can be successful in a ton of things–powerful, famous, and rich and still be depressed because you haven’t gone after what you were created to do. Live out God’s dream!
There are many ideas and plans in man’s heart but the Lord’s purpose–the Lord’s dream–the Lord’s vision for your life prevails and supersedes your plans. He says, “I don’t care what you do. My purpose will prevail over, will frustrate, and depress your plans.” Success is never tied to what you do. Success is tied to what God told you to do.
Can you change your thinking, repent and have the right thought concerning this God vision, dream–your potential? Hopefully, everything you have gone through is preparation–the process to equip you to pursue your purpose. Where you are at now may not be fulfilling, but may be a piece that God is using for your preparation.
Now for the steps, the keys, the principles, the actions you will need to take to accomplish YOUR VISION. To see, experience success…
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God said He has some plans for all of us and He wants those plans to be fulfilled, but we must follow His direction. In the book of Joshua chapter 1:8 He establishes the key to fulfilling those plans…
“Obey the words that I have laid out for you…Do not turn from them to the right or to the left but walk in them day and night and meditate upon them all day.” In other words, He was telling Joshua, “learn the precepts and principles of the word of God and you shall have good success.” Notice God’s guarantee? You “shall” have “good” success if you obey these commands–these same principles–that Moses had to obey.
You must have a clear, defined vision. You personally, individually, must have a clear guided vision. If you have no vision, forget success. Where does vision come from? It comes from purpose. So, you and I need to have a clear purpose–a clear understanding why we exist. The priority is not knowing “what” but “why.” Knowing the purpose of why you were born and why you are here is the first step, the first key, the first action to success.
Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish:
The King James has a weak translation of the context. The Hebrew translation says, “Without a revelation of why something exists, the people throw off discipline.” In other words, without vision there is no need for discipline. Vision produces discipline. Say that with me, “VISION PRODUCES DISCIPLINE.” You’ll never develop a strong discipline in any area of your life if you don’t have a clear reason or vision. Vision protects you from doing “good” things so you can do the “right” thing. There is a difference.
There are good people who may be around you, but they may not be the right people for you to do life with. If you don’t know your vision, you won’t know who to do life with. You can say no to good opportunities if you don’t know the right place to go.
There will be good things offered to you that don’t line up with your dream and vision. They will only frustrate you if you let that be the direction and focus for your life. If you know your dream, you are equipped to say “no” to good things so you can find the great things–the right things–that will accelerate your purpose.
Vision makes you disciplined. You can say no when you know what your yes is. Vision protects you from doing everything. You are so unique, special and different that God doesn’t want you to be anyone else. And your destination is so perfect for you. He doesn’t want you anywhere else. Understand many good people will try and talk you out of the right path for you because they may not understand the vision God has given you. Because it’s not their vision. It was given to you to steward; not them. God wants you to find, to discover, your vision and stay focused on that vision.
In Romans 1:14, Paul said, “I am obligated to preach the Gospel. I am obligated to fulfill this vision…this is all I want to do. I was born to preach to the Gentiles.”
The devil is not so much focused on trying to get you to do bad things. He loves for you to do good things that are not right for you. Especially for those of us who want to do good things. He will distract you in doing other things that are not the best for your life.
I want us to look at Nehemiah for a second. He was working in the King’s court as a waiter. His job was to serve the King. Even though Nehemiah had a preoccupation, he was occupied with something else in his heart. He was born with something else that wouldn’t let him go. He was unfulfilled because he had a purpose to accomplish.
Nehemiah 1:4
When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven.
What things? He heard that the wall of Jerusalem was broken down and destroyed, and everything was in disarray. He wept cause he was doing work but he really had God job to do. His work disturbed his job–his purpose. Some of you are doing work but you’re not comfortable because your work is interfering with your job. Your job is what you where born to do; your work is what you do until you get there.
Can I recommend something about this first step, this first principle? If you are going to get a vision, it’s going to have to come from God. When God gives you a vision and confirms it, nothing can stop it. If God tells you to build something, to start something, to create something, to invest in something, to manufacture something–whatever God tells you to, do it or it becomes an irritation that doesn’t go away.
When you come across people who know what they are called to do, they are usually people who seem to be possessed about the purpose because they are. They are driven to extremes about this thing God gave them to do.
Nehemiah’s first approach to his vision was to go to God. He cried out to God; he mourned and felt a passion for this vision. He had this burning in his spirit, in his bones. He went to God and God heard his prayer. What did God do in response?
2. To fulfill your dreams, you need to have passion.
Everybody say with me….YOU GOT TO HAVE PASSION
You want to walk in success. You got to have passion about the dream about the vision. First is purpose. Second is passion.
Passion is a desire that is stronger than death. Passion is a drive that cannot be stopped by opposition. Passion is something so strong that it causes nights of sleeplessness. It motivates you where you will not stop even to the point of not eating until it’s satisfied. If you can stop what you’re doing and still be happy, you are not passionate. If you’re told no, or there is a lack of funds or rejection and it discourages you to the point of halt, you’re not passionate.
Passion goes against and fights every problem. It defies everything that resists it. Passion takes the dialog of “no, you can’t” and turns it into “I just have to wait a little longer.” It changes the narrative. Passion says, “Even though it doesn’t come right now, know will come later.” Passion says, “Even though you built this wall to stop me, I will jump this wall later.” Passion says, “If you kill me, I will rise again.”
That’s why when it’s a vision from God, He will infuse you with passion and it will come to pass.
If you want to succeed when your application gets rejected, send another one. When you get looked over, put yourself back in the next lineup. When you don’t make the cut, try again. When you get denied for the loan, keep applying. When you don’t meet their qualifications, prequalify. Passion does not stop and does not except “no.”
When it seems there is not enough money to bring the vision into reality, don’t stop. God will bring resources to you even if He has to cross over. God already has stuff prepared for you no one knows about. That’s what the Bible means when it says, “The wealth of the wicked is in the wicked’s pocket waiting for the righteous to say yes to His will.”
People who lack passion stop too soon. Why do they stop at the least of resistance? Passion says, “You might as well give up because I am not going to quit!” Passion says, “If you knock me down, I will get back up and if you do it again I’ll rise seven more times.” Passion says, “I can do this all day.”
Tell your neighbor “get up and get going.” There is no life without passion.
Paul said in Romans 1:15, I am so eager to do what God has called me to do. He first said I am obligated, then he said, “I am eager. I am motivated. I’ve got the passion.”
A person with passion is energized. A person who finds their purpose and steps into passion is unstoppable. No matter the obstacle, they have a renewed mind that knows the resistance, the halt, the barriers won’t last and will be overcome. A passionate person is an overcomer.
They are tougher than any trial they face. Look at it this way: Every resistance is to make you wiser not weaker.
Every opposition God will use to strengthen you, not to stop you.
Paul said the challenges that come will refine your faith and make you even stronger.
Here is a thought: If there is no resistance, if you ain’t moving, you’re standing still. People who are not doing anything have no problems. If you got problems, opposition, say, “Thank you Lord. I’m moving.”
You have to have passion to be successful in life. Nehemiah saw in his vision the wall rebuilt even though it wasn’t. After he saw this vision God brought him, Nehemiah went back to work and was depressed. The king in chapter 2 responded to him look with me
Nehemiah 2:1
In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before,
Nehemiah said he was doing fine at his work until I heard the actual state of the wall and I had a vision and I went to God and God told me to go back and build it. Even though I was on another man’s job the vision of the wall made me sad, depressed. We see the King’s question in vs 2
Nehemiah 2:2
so the king asked me, “Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.”
You will never be successful until you get dissatisfied at not doing what you know you should to do. You will never be successful until you are angry at not doing what you know you should do. If you are happy about what you are doing, you are not angry about what you should do. If you are happy at what you are doing and it’s not your purpose, you will settle there. But if a person has a vision beyond where he is at, then where he is at makes him sad because where he wants to be makes him happy. If your job where you are at is not in your vision, it will always compete with where you want to go.
When you have a vision, you will be sad about where you are because you know where you want to be is where your joy is. I have experienced this first hand and I have also seen this played out in our pastors. Their vision is huge. It’s clear. It’s been confirmed by God and they are passionate about getting there. I have seen the frustration first hand and it motivates them.
People who are satisfied where they are will never go where they want to be. Anger at present conditions will always drive you to new visions. It will take you to new horizons. That’s why we must not be satisfied with what we are doing, the amount we are reaching, the numbers we see on a given Sunday. The number of water wells we dug last year. The number of salvations, baptisms, healings or people rescued and set free. We cannot be okay with what we have accomplished because the vision is bigger! And it requires you and I to get passionate.
We cannot be satisfied with OpenDoor, or Spark or the foodbank of Troy Brewer Ministries, or Redemption Ranch, or what we are doing in other countries. We can’t be satisfied with the state of affairs here in Burleson, our state, or our nation. If you are satisfied, you are apart of the problem.
People with vision and passion will move into times of sadness, depression, and dissatisfaction that fuels the passion for change. Nehemiah was sad. The King noticed it and said, “Something is wrong with you. You are not happy anymore.” Nehemiah was the kind of man who could not hold it in.
Nehemiah 2:2-3
I was very much afraid, but I said to the king, “May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”
He said, “The reason I am sad is because the future doesn’t look very good for my people.” His vision was so strong, so clear, it moved his emotions.
Nehemiah 2:4
The king said to me, “What is it you want?”
It wouldn’t hurt if we asked the question, “What is it I want?”
Do you know what you want out of life yet? Some just want their next meal or a warm place to sleep. Others want to retire and have some money put back to travel. Some are just wanting one more day.
There is more than life than food, clothing, shelter, and retirement. There is more to life than rocking chairs and arthritis. The king asked a good question; “Nehemiah what do you want?”
Some want a house and get it–now what? Some want a new car and then what? I want to make the team, I want to go school. There. Okay. Now what? I want kids and you get kids–now what?
There has to be something bigger than the things you accumulate. Life is so much bigger than gathering and accumulating.
Your vision should be in touch with the Kingdom of God. That’s why what we are doing all over the world has to continue to grow because we are touching the Kingdom of Heaven and bringing it down to earth. We need to reach more here at Open Door Church so SPARK and Troy Brewer Ministries can reach and rescue more around the world. Open Door Food Bank must grow and get bigger because the need is growing. The Food Bank started with our culture. We need Redemption Ranch to grow to expand because we want to rescue the rescuers–pastors and ministry leaders who are rescuing–and there needs to be more Redemption Ranches all over the globe to rescue and house those who are rescued.
What is your Dream and vision? Is your dream and vision fueled by Passion? Has it got in your bones? Does it affect your being?
“Nehemiah what do you want,” asked the king? The King today is asking you, “What do you want?” Do you know what you want?
There has to be a dream that is bigger than these things around you. Nehemiah’s vision affected his peace because of his passion.
To be successful…
3. You must have a clear PLAN.
Everybody say “planning.” There will be no future without a plan. There will be no success without a plan. Too many have jumped out in faith and faith is good, but they have no plan. They have no direction for the next 20 years but they got faith. They have no clue about next week, next month, next year. What do you want to do and when do you want to be there?
If the Lord does tarry His return, most of the body of Christ will be where they are at right now10 years from now because they have no plan.
Proverbs 16:1, 9
The preparations (plans) of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Do you know God can’t direct if you don’t make the plan? There is nothing for God to direct you in if you have nowhere to go. Please note that both verses say that God leaves the planning up to the heart of the man. But God gives the explanation in how it is to be done.
When you begin to document, write down and put your plan on paper, it will always be bigger than your bank account. The plan you have in your heart is a documentation of a future that is not finished. So when you write a plan down, it should be a description of the end of your life. That’s why it doesn’t measure up, or is not equal to, what you have in the beginning.
God said, “You make the plans but I will fill in the gaps: How it’s going to be paid for, who the key players are that will come alongside you to work out the plan. I bring the resources to your dream, to your plan. You need to just get the vision clear. Fuel it with passion and write down the plan or the blueprint of the vision. A plan for next week, month, next year.”
At Redemption Ranch, we have a clear vision. I am fueled with passion and I have been working a plan. The Lord is sending resources and people now to fulfill the plan.
OpenDoor has a vision. TBM has a vision. Spark, the Food Bank, they have a clear vision fueled by passionate people who are writing and working out the plan, and guess what? The Lord is directing and resourcing the plan.
Can you deliver a plan for your life over the next 5 years, 10, 20, 30? God has equipped you and has given you the ability to put a plan together. He has given you a brain with over 5 billion cells, the gift of imagination, the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and the gift of faith. He has also given you the articulation of words to put down what you see. What are you waiting on? He said He would explain how you will do what you planned.
The thing is, God can’t talk to you because He ain’t got nothing to talk about because you don’t have a plan. Here is a principle you need to wrap your Kingdom mind around. God will resource whatever dream He gives you only when you are prepared to manage what He will give you. That is Kingdom management. You can’t mange if you don’t do your due diligence and make a plan.
God wants you to have a clear plan so you will be successful.
Nehemiah 2:11-18
I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days 12 I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.
Nehemiah was saying, “I selected a few people because not everybody could handle the plan.” He went about making the plan to rebuild the wall.
13 By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire. 15 so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate. 16 The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, because as yet I had said nothing to the Jews or the priests or nobles or officials or any others who would be doing the work.
I didn’t say anything because I was making plans. More times then not, you can’t tell your plans to others while you’re making them because they can’t handle it. You need to write your plans in private and keep them secret. Your critics and those who don’t like you–even your friends–will try to talk you out of it because it’s not their dream. God didn’t give it to them. He gave it to you.
And folks who ain’t going anywhere like to take people with them. Some folks who ain’t doing nothing want to take people with them. Nehemiah said, “I didn’t take very many with me. Only a small few that I could trust and started making plans for the vision God gave me.”
Not everybody will understand your dream but put your dream on paper anyhow. Your dream is worth writing down. Journal it. Get creative and when you start writing it down, don’t be surprised if it grows and now you have material and motivation for your prayers. Nehemiah was a planner.
17 Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” 18 I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me.
Here is a man sharing his plan to rebuild the wall to a small few. The actual wall that was built and was now in ruins took thousands of years to build. Here is a man starting off with an impossibility because He only had a few and said, “Let’s start.” Start with what you have and make that successful. What you have is a brain; great ideas start where you are in order to go where you need to be.
Then Nehemiah said, “he Hand of the Lord is on me.” He was so confident he said, “God told me to do this.” I hope you feel that way about your dream. Your dreams are not to be fulfilled by yourself. You need God to fulfill them. Nehemiah said God was with him. Let’s build this wall. To be successful you need a clear vision, purpose and plan.
