All In

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/23/2023

Proverbs 4:23 – Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

We are called to be ready, to be watchful, be sober. To live a truly watchful life is to take on the responsibility of being truly watchful over our hearts. It begins with You, King Jesus. Don’t fall asleep at the wheel as you drive through life because others are relying on you to stay awake.

Declaration: My days and nights are committed to the Lord.

ALL IN

There are prayers that you pray that you need to pray behind closed doors. The Bible says so and I’ve discovered from personal experience that it’s true.

“But you, when you pray, go into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.” – Matthew 6:6

One of the reasons Jesus says to shut the door is simply for the reason of privacy. The word He uses for “closet” is defined in the Strong’s exhaustive concordance as a “secret chamber” or a place where you retire for privacy.

Match up your private prayers with private places. Match up your environment, atmosphere and culture. Environment is physical, atmosphere is spiritual and culture is social. Believe me, this is important stuff.

Things that are cultural have to do with relational things. Things that are environmental have to do with your physical location, and the setting you’re supposed to prepare is your atmosphere. The Holy Spirit wants to partner with you in all three of these.

Jesus says to not bring private prayers before public people. That seems pretty simple yet that is radical for the American Church where gossip in the name of accountability runs rampant.

What do you do with battlefield prayers? Maybe you need to get into a warfare stance. Maybe you need to get a sword and let the devil know you mean business by swinging that bad boy around as you cry out, declare and generally go crazy.

Need to conquer a mountain of debt? Climb one and plant your freedom flag. Get creative and prophetically match your prayers to your desired outcome. Jesus loves that because it’s effective and shows we’re all in.

You Gotta Go!

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/22/2023

Jeremiah 4:22 – “For My people are foolish, They have not known Me. They are silly children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.”

Are you a life breather? King Jesus came to give us life and life more abundant. Knowing Him is a real demonstration of His goodness to your family, neighbors, and your co-workers at all times. Put a smile on the face of Jesus by displaying Him with love to those you encounter today.

Declaration: I live a life that makes God smile! I speak life and life more abundant over those I encounter.

YOU GOTTA GO!

God’s not mad at you. He loves you more than you know. Do not run away from Him. Run to Him.

You have access to God’s love and forgiveness by faith. Now, there’s a difference between the Old Testament and the New Testament, and I think OpenDoor Church is called to reach not just the world for Jesus, but to reach Christians for Jesus.

I’m talking about Christians who live on the wrong side of the cross. Their whole world is about trying to be right, but Jesus came to pay the price for that. You and I are filled with the Spirit. We’re supposed to walk in that power and bear much fruit. We’re already saved – not still trying to get saved.

So, there’s a difference between one side of the cross and the other. The difference is baptism. The difference is the Jordan River. It’s the difference between wilderness Christians and Promised Land Christians. What is that?

In the wilderness, it’s all about survival. You learn that whatever the problem is, it isn’t God. God is the answer to everything. The wilderness is all about just getting through the day. Too many Christians live in the wilderness.

Then you get to the Jordan River. The Jordan splits, you walk across it and now you’re in the Promised Land. Your life isn’t all about survival anymore. It’s about a legacy. As a matter of fact, you don’t have to worry about survival anymore. Why?

Because you get to live in a house you didn’t build, drink from a well you didn’t dig and eat from a vineyard you didn’t plant. You find a giant or a mountain and you say, “Give me that mountain” or “You uncircumcised Philistine, who do you think you are? Get out of my house. Get out of my family and my generation.”

You stand up and say, “There’s a new sheriff in town. I’m filled with the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ, God Almighty and you gotta go!”

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7

Is 22 After You?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/21/2023

John 4:21 – Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.”

Revival is here! The spirit of revival is being poured out right were you are. But its easy to miss or dismiss. Do you have eyes to see? Do you know how to enter into the presence of God through worship? In the place of awe, the Lord revives what is dead and forgotten. Come worship the Lord!

Declaration: The spirit of rival is here. I’m being revived and will revive others to the glory of God.

Is 22 After You?

I can’t help but pay attention to the numbers in scripture and the words that go with the numbers. Why? Because God speaks to me, and you, through them in our everyday lives. When you see them, you can’t unsee them and if you don’t, my friend, someday you will.

The same God who created the universe numbered, weighed, counted and measured everything in it. Numbers are part of His supernatural lingo and one of His favorite numbers is 22. People all over the world contact me and say, “Pastor Troy, what is up with the number 22 and why do I see it all the time? Is God trying to tell me something?”

Yes, and this is a really big deal, because 22 is God shouting a word about Himself.

The number 22 literally represents the light of revelation or revelation light. Part of that is there are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet, what is that? It’s the light of the Word of God. It’s the revelation and the light of the Word of God being made manifest for you and I to read and study.

There are 22 chapters in the book of Revelation. What is that? It’s literally revelation–the “unveiling” of the true identity, purpose and destiny of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. It’s the light coming on and us finally saying, “You are here as light to break the works of darkness forever and all times. I want to be on your team, Jesus.”

And I like that “light” is used 22 times in the book of John. I love that so much because the 22nd time he uses the word light, he’s actually quoting King Jesus saying,

“I have come as a light into the world,” – John 12:46

An interesting thing about the tabernacle in the wilderness and the temple in Jerusalem is that a very specific part of the prophetic furniture that was on the inside–like, furniture can be prophetic? So, there’s 22 components of the menorah, including 22 bowls that hold the oil that actually bring the light and the bowls are in the shape of almond.

Remember when God asked little Jeremiah, “What do you see,” and Jeremiah, who grew into one of the most amazing prophets ever said he saw and almond tree? God told that boy, “You did well and I will hasten my word to perform it.” God was accelerating Jeremiah’s prophetic gift, and so it is with you and I today.

The year 2022 has passed. Light, exposure of darkness and the evil things hidden from us in that darkness of lies and deceit has happened, and will continue to manifest, because the 22 of Jesus has caused it to happen and He is accelerating it. Is 22 after you? Embrace the Light of the World, Jesus, and the prophetic revelation He is offering!

First Responder

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/20/2023

Proverbs 4:20 – My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.

The battle between your two ears has to be won daily. It’s the turf you can’t give up. How do you win that battle? By letting the Lord own that ground. Quit listening to the snake and the voice of the “in-a-me.” They are liars.

Declaration: King Jesus has dominion in my thinking. I walk in peace that passes understanding and embrace His truth.

FIRST RESPONDER

I know I’ve already told you that when Jesus Christ reveals Himself to John on the Isle of Patmos, it’s a word to the Church – that means people who have been born again – you and me. Here’s one of those words:

“…among whom we also all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…” – Ephesians 2:3-6

It’s saying there was a time in our lives when everything we found ourselves doing was fulfilling the desires of the natural man. By nature, we were called children of wrath. That’s what an unsaved person is and what we were before God initiated anything in our lives.

Even while we deserved His wrath, God in His mercy stepped in. All of a sudden, we were invaded by the love of God and His grace, and He saved us.

When we were sinners, God made a move on us. God initiates and we respond. We’re responders. Our purpose in this relationship and fellowship with our Savior, King and Lord is we respond to everything He initiates.

Most of us are reading this devotional and living the life we’re living for Him because we responded to His call of giving us unconditional love.

So, here’s my point today. You and I are saved. We can’t get any more saved than we are. So if we don’t need to get saved, what is God calling us to that we need to respond to?

Upgrade. Intimacy. Relationship. Identity, purpose and destiny. That’s what He’s initiating. We are no longer under wrath, but if we don’t respond to His new call, we will miss the heart of King Jesus. Respond.

Who Are You Listening To?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/19/2023

Philippians 4:19 – And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Father God desires to open His treasures to you, to bless you and enlarge your territory – your sphere of influence for His Kingdom. The spirit of fear and false humility want you to be poor because when you are prosperous, many are brought to repentance through God’s abundance in your life. Don’t partner with the stronghold of poverty.

Declaration: I come out of agreement with the spirit and principality of poverty. The devil is a liar and I proclaim new wine and oil overflowing in every aspect of my life.

Who Are You Listening To?

I always imagined the church at Ephesus that Timothy, a very young man, was the pastor of, was just a small group of people. No. It was a monster mega church of 100,000 people. And they had tremendous issues and amazing challenges about “what are we gonna do and how are we going to do this.”

My friend, how we do church is a really big deal. Paul was actually afraid they would wake up and have a completely different Christianity that they wouldn’t recognize if they did not fight for the culture of the house. It’s a word for you and I today. Yep, it’s even more relevant because we’re living in Rome times seven!

“Now the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron.” – Timothy 4:1-2

First, every day in the Roman culture must have felt like the end of days–like, “My God! How could this get any more dangerous and demonic?” Second, Paul is prophesying to you and me right here, right now. He saw this day and this messed up culture we’re living in and he says this: “Now the Spirit expressly says.”

Friend, you need to know what the Holy Spirit is highlighting within your life right now–within the culture and the headlines right now–because Paul is hearing God speak about all kinds of craziness, but he’s like, “This is really highlighted.”

Do you have an ear to hear or do you just follow the crowd? Do you listen to the prophets of hell in the news media feeding you a narrative and worldview that is so skewed, you will wake up and not recognize your life or your faith because you let those voices into your head?

This is a crucial time in history that two-thirds of the Bible warns about. We are living in those latter or “last” days. If you’re going to make it, you’re going to have to know what God is speaking to you. What is the Holy Spirit inside you warning you about? Who is He telling you to listen to and who needs the left foot of fellowship? Your eternal future rides on you having a vibrant relationship with the One who knows the perils coming your way–and they are coming fast.

Do not depart from the faith. Do not give heed to deceiving spirits of technology, media, entertainment, fear, envy and fortune. Stand against the doctrines of demons that say, “We’re coming after your kids with the trans agenda and we’re coming after you with porn and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Like it says in Ephesians 6:14, STAND! Put on that armor and let the Belt of Truth, the Holy Spirit, gird the loins of your mind (1 Peter 1:13). Listen for His still, small voice. It’s the only way to win!

Aim High

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/18/2023

1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Fear empowers and exalts the inferior but love empowers and exalts the superior. Fear is all about protecting yourself and surviving. Love is all about being selfless and sacrificing for others. You don’t have to be afraid because the presence of God is with you.

Declaration: I’m 100 percent loved and worthy to receive all of God’s blessings. I do not have a spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind.

Aim High

The book of 1 Timothy was written at the end of Paul’s life. And the fact that Paul was actually in a much better mood by the time he was old is a really big deal because most people aren’t.

By the time that Paul wrote 1 and 2 Timothy, he’d been in prison for some time and he was near his death. He’s not laying down. No, sir! He’s firing off letters and preaching like a man on the mission he was. Even as Saul who persecuted Christians, he was a man of passion and purpose. He was a man of action.

Knowing Paul’s zeal, God had given this unlikely evangelist a very special promise: “I’m gonna send you all the way to Rome and you are literally going to reach the house of Caesar for my kingdom.”

My friend, that brother went straight to the top. He was just like Sam Houston goin’ after Santa Anna’s tent at San Jacinto. It’s like Paul was saying, “I know exactly where I need to go and I’m goin’ right there.”

The Bible says he made it to the destination God had promised. He did not fall out or lose focus.

All the saints greet you, but especially those who are of Caesar’s household. – Philippians 4:22

Did you catch that? Paul is saying, “I made it into Caesar’s house and I even got some of ’em saved and playing for Team Jesus.”

Do you aim high when it comes to telling people about King Jesus? Do you look at influencers and say, “I’m going to get that cat into the Kingdom because he will be a game-changer”? You should. You really should. But you should also get that single mama with a pile of bills, your beer slugging mechanic with the foul mouth and the chain smoking tattoo artist covered in skulls and piercings. Why?

They are influential in circles you know nothing about. When you aim for them, you are aiming at the top. So, aim high and get some people saved. Did Paul get Caesar? Not that we know of. He did get those within his house. Servants? Family? We don’t know. Whoever they were, their testimony was light in a dark place. God can use that, so what are you waiting for?

Revelation Song

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/17/2023

James 4:17 – Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

The opposite of love is not hate. It is selfishness. When we put self above the needs of others, we are not walking like Jesus. We are not acting as our Heavenly Father acts toward us. If you can help somebody, help them. Period.

Declaration: I’m dead to sin and alive to obeying God. I will put others first just as Jesus did.

REVELATION SONGS

When you start living your supernatural identity out, you start denying your flesh, walking in the newness of life and discovering things. One of the things you will discover is a new song.

“Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth!” – Psalms 96:1

By the way, every time you get a new revelation or encounter with God, it’s like Him saying, “this is going to be your new experience.” That’s called a new song. Are you tracking with me here? A new song comes from a new revelation.

“And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals because you were slain, and with your blood, you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.” – Revelation 5:9

Everybody’s jamming in heaven. It’s an epic moment and with the epic moment comes an epic song.

A new song comes from a new experience in the power of the Holy Spirit. When God gives you a new song, you’re supposed to move from the outer court to the inner court, or from the inner court to the Holy of Holies. It’s increasing from 30- to 60- to 100-fold blessings because you’re willing to let that revelation work in your life.

When was the last time you had a new song – a new Revelation about Jesus that changed the way you think or the way you act? If it’s been a while, that’s too long! Ask the Holy Spirit for a new revelation today then keep your eyes and ears open. It could be in the Word, in a song, on the nightly news or something your kids say that makes you go, “BOOM! Mind blown!”

Where your revelation comes from is how God Almighty speaks to you. I’m just saying go after it and be prepared to grab it when it comes because it will. If you seek a revelation song, you will find and that’s a fact, Jack!

Leave that Junk in the Water

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/16/2023

1 Peter 4:16 – Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

There is no way you can be a part of the body of Christ without having someone hate you, talk bad about you, and want to see you fail. There is no way you can have anything in your life worth having without someone else being mad at you for having it. King Jesus is worth it. Remain confident in your purpose no matter what.

Declaration: Haters don’t slow me down. I’m blessed and I pray for them to know Jesus.

LEAVE THAT JUNK IN THE WATER

I believe when you’re baptized, things that have been closed to you in the heavens will be broken wide open. You’re going to see prayers answered, revelation, things restored, and intimate fellowship with Jesus.

How do I know? Look at Moses and the Israelites as they were leaving Egypt. As their past came back to haunt them and drag them back into captivity, God Himself said something amazing to Moses at the edge of the Red Sea.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are your crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.” – Exodus – 14:18

God wants to trap the things that hunt you down – the addictions, fears, secret sins and wrong thinking that have your bound – and wash them away for His Glory.

Just like Pharaoh’s chariots and horsemen being washed away in the waters of the Red Sea was an advertisement of His power to the Hebrews and Egyptians alike, your past and all the demons in it being buried in the water are a testimony to Him. So is the freedom that follows.

When you take something down into that water with you, come up out of that water and say, “I am free from that.” Believe with all your heart the power of the Holy Spirit has been initiated in your life.

What do you need freedom from? Give God the glory and let Him wash it away in the waters of baptism for all the world to see. Then move into the relationship and rewards Jesus has always wanted for you.

HEADSHOT: Defeating the Mind of Giants

Sunday, April 16, 2023

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX

1 Samuel 17:1-51 Now the Philistines gathered their armies together to battle, and were gathered at Sochoh, which belongs to Judah; they encamped between Sochoh and Azekah, in Ephes Dammim

2 And Saul and the men of Israel were gathered together, and they encamped in the Valley of Elah, and drew up in battle array against the Philistines. 3 The Philistines stood on a mountain on one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side, with a valley between them.

The valley of Leah is named after the the valley of Elah trees or terebinth trees. Also known as Philistine oak or Palestinian Oak.

Terebinths are also found in Isaiah in possible reference to idolatry associated with the trees, although in the Septuagint and Vulgate the word is translated ‘idols,’ as the plural of el.

For you will be ashamed of the terebinths that you have taken pleasure in. — Isaiah 1:29

The best known clear reference to a terebinth (elah) in the Hebrew Scriptures is that of the Valley of Elah or ‘Valley of the Terebinth’ (עמק האלה), where David fought Goliath (1 Samuel 17:2, 17:19).

Later in 2 Samuel 18:9, David’s rebellious son Absalom is caught in the terebinth tree and is killed by Joab’s men, David’s army.

4 And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.

Goliath of Gath: 9 foot 6 inches

Andre the Giant: 7 foot 2 inches

Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca): 7 foot 2 or 3 inches

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...

Robert Wadlow – 8 foot 11inches

Weighed 439 pounds when he died at age 22 in 1940

Wore a size 36 AA shoe

5 He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze.

6 And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. 7 Now the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, and his iron spearhead weighed six hundred shekels; and a shield-bearer went before him.

Goliath was a height of 6 cubits. The head of his spear weighed 600 shekels of iron and he also wore 6 pieces of armor ( I Samuel 17:4-7).  666

8 Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, “Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me.

9 If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.” 10 And the Philistine said, “I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.”

Single combat is a duel between two single warriors which takes place in the context of a battle between two armies.

Captain John Smith of Jamestown is reputed in his earlier career as a mercenary in Eastern Europe to have defeated, killed and beheaded Turkish commanders in three single combats, for which he was knighted by the Transylvanian Prince Sigismund Báthory. He was given a horse and Coat of Arms showing three Turks’ heads.

11 When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.

1 Samuel 9:2He had a son, Saul, a most handsome young man. There was none finer—he literally stood head and shoulders above the crowd!

1 Samuel 17:12-51 Now David was the son of that Ephrathite of Bethlehem Judah, whose name was Jesse, and who had eight sons. And the man was old, advanced in years, in the days of Saul. 13 The three oldest sons of Jesse had gone to follow Saul to the battle.

The names of his three sons who went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah. 14 David was the youngest. And the three oldest followed Saul. 15 But David occasionally went and returned from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.

16 And the Philistine drew near and presented himself forty days, morning and evening.

17 Then Jesse said to his son David, “Take now for your brothers an ephah of this dried grain and these ten loaves, and run to your brothers at the camp. 18 And carry these ten cheeses to the captain of their thousand, and see how your brothers fare, and bring back news of them.”

19 Now Saul and they and all the men of Israel were in the Valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistines.

20 So David rose early in the morning, left the sheep with a keeper, and took the things and went as Jesse had commanded him. And he came to the camp as the army was going out to the fight and shouting for the battle.

21 For Israel and the Philistines had drawn up in battle array, army against army. 22 And David left his supplies in the hand of the supply keeper, ran to the army, and came and greeted his brothers.

23 Then as he talked with them, there was the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, coming up from the armies of the Philistines; and he spoke according to the same words. So David heard them.

24 And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. 25 So the men of Israel said, “Have you seen this man who has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel; and it shall be that the man who kills him the king will enrich with great riches, will give him his daughter, and give his father’s house exemption from taxes in Israel.”

26 Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?”

27 And the people answered him in this manner, saying, “So shall it be done for the man who kills him.”

28 Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.”

29 And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” 30 Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.

31 Now when the words which David spoke were heard, they reported them to Saul; and he sent for him. 32 Then David said to Saul, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.”

33 And Saul said to David, “You are not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”

You’ve never killed anybody and he has been killing folk since he was younger than you.

34 But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 36 Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” 37 Moreover David said, “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

I would have loved to have been in the invisible guy in the room.

And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!”

He was victorious in private (1 Samuel 17:34-37)

He carried his own anointing (1 Samuel 17:38-39)

David knew who he was—and who he wasn’t. Though offered the armor of the king himself, he recognized his unique anointing and rejected taking on another’s reputation and mantle. With the zeal of the Lord in his heart, he stayed true to himself and how God had trained him.

38 So Saul clothed David with his armor, and he put a bronze helmet on his head; he also clothed him with a coat of mail. 39 David fastened his sword to his armor and tried to walk, for he had not tested them. And David said to Saul, “I cannot walk with these, for I have not tested them.” So David took them off.

Refusing the warfare methods God has not called you in:

“That ain’t me. That’s not how I fight. This is how I fight my battles…”

40 Then he took his staff in his hand; and he chose for himself five smooth stones from the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag, in a pouch which he had, and his sling was in his hand. And he drew near to the Philistine.

41 So the Philistine came, and began drawing near to David, and the man who bore the shield went before him. 42 And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking.

43 So the Philistine said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.

There is an old saying, “God can draw a straight line with a crooked stick.” You don’t need to have everything worked out to see a miracle happen.

Deuteronomy 23: the Isrealites were commanded to carry a stick in the equipment

A walking stick is known as a rod or a staff.God did miracles through the stick of Moses. God did miracles through the stick of Aaron. Elijah recovered an iron ax head and made it float in the river by throwing a stick into the water.

44 And the Philistine said to David, “Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!”

45 Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.”

When you speak to a giant, you can’t repeat its narrative. You have to tell it, “THIS IS HOW THINGS ARE GOING TO GO.”

YOU DECLARE AND YOU PROCLAIM THE WORD OF GOD AND YOUR TESTIMONY!

48 So it was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.

49 Then David put his hand in his bag and took out a stone; and he slung it and struck the Philistine in his forehead, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.

50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. But there was no sword in the hand of David.

(HE DID NOT BATTLE AS CULTURE DICTATED)

51 Therefore David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him, and cut off his head with it.

THE WAY OF THE GIANT IS TO INTRODUCE AN IDEA THAT YOU ARE POWERLESS, YOUR DEFEAT IS CERTAIN, AND GOD WON’T HELP YOU.

A GIANT ALWAYS SAYS THE SAME THING. “YOU’RE DONE. IT’S TOO MUCH. YOU CAN’T DO ANYTHING. YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN AND DON’T EVEN TRY TO BRING GOD INTO THIS.”

ITS FRAME OF MIND, ITS PARADIGM, ITS WAY OF THINKING, ITS INCLINATION, ITS WORLDVIEW IS ALWAYS THAT IT’S GOING TO DO WHATEVER IT WANTS TO YOU, THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT AND GOD WILL NOT HELP YOU.

Numbers 13:33 (NKJV)“There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

Numbers 13:33 (American Standard Version)And there we saw the Nephilim, the sons of Anak, who come of the Nephilim: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Numbers 13:33 (Berean Study Bible)We even saw the Nephilim there—the descendants of Anak that come from the Nephilim! We seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight, and we must have seemed the same to them!”

That’s the way of the Giant: to intimidate you. To take away your masculinity. To label you a stick and threaten you to the point to where you can’t imagine entering into the Promised Land or taking up the cause, because you become a target. But the devil is liar!!!! Giants are bullies and they feel powerful by dominating otherwise good people.

THE WAY OF THE WARRIOR IS TO STAND WHERE OTHER PEOPLE WON’T STAND, TELL THE GIANT EXACTLY WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO DO, WHAT GOD IS GOING TO DO, AND TO GO FOR ITS HEAD.

He didn’t focus on the size its body, (the mob of people in agreement) or his muscles (the strength of his capabilities) or its armor (the protection and validation of its accomplishments).

His target was specific (1 Samuel 17:49)

The warrior, knowing the cause and that God was Him, went straight for Goliath’s head–first with a stone he picked up from the water. Second with the sword He took away from the enemy.

David knew the target was critical. As he declared the word of the Lord to this towering enemy, he put his faith in the supernatural power of his God and thrust that faith towardGoliath’s head. Aiming where it mattered most, David hit the target and brought the enemy down.

He was not easily intimidated (1 Sam 17:44-47): Even though the voice of the enemy shouted in his ears, David was unmoved. He did not confront this giant ill-prepared. He went in with the full knowledge of what he was facing and ran toward the enemy without hesitation.

The enemy will be relentless, and we must be prepared to face the constant threats and accusations. If we have filled our hearts and minds with God’s Word before the battle, it will be God’s Word that pours out of our mouths when we face that battle. Our courage comes from knowing God’s voice and the words He speaks. We then become conduits of heaven, issuing the decrees and purposes of the reigning King.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV)We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

If you know anything about gator hunting, you know your target is only a few inches in diameter no matter how huge this reptile actually is. The only way you can kill an Alligator to hit the area behind his eyes and shut down his tiny brain.

According to the National Wildlife Federation, “an average 12-foot-long, 800-pound American alligator has a brain that is roughly the size of three olives.” It’s strictly an instinctual living machine that reacts to things it is sensitive to.

In other words, you’ve got to be a good shot, especially if you’re trying to hit something the size of three olives, just below the surface of the water, at a long way away.

Warriors Dig Scars

TODAY’S PROPHETIC NUMBER – 4/15/2023

Hebrews 4:15 – For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

We’ve all heard the question, “What would Jesus do?” because Jesus faced the same temptations we face. He was aware of crimes against the Jews, yet He didn’t harbor hatred. He knew about corruption in the temple, yet He didn’t entertain  bitterness. Jesus was aware the very people He loved and healed would soon turn against Him. Still, His mind was full of compassion toward them. He didn’t sin in action, but He also didn’t sin in thought.

Declaration: I will think what Jesus thinks and I choose not to sin in word or deed.

WARRIORS DIG SCARS

Jesus’ resurrected body could look like anything. He could be any race or every race. He could be tall or short. He could look like anything he wanted, but know this. Whatever he looks like, he keeps his scars.

“But Pastor Troy, Jesus is the son of God. He’s perfect. Doesn’t that mean he doesn’t have any scars?

No. That means you and I don’t have any scars, but Jesus keeps his. You see, King Jesus is a warrior. He’s not a dad-gum hippy. He’s the original bad motor scooter who took on hell with a water pistol. When he walks into a room, all of heaven takes notice:

Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah – Psalms 24:9-10

The Word calls him the Captain of the Lord’s Armies, or the “Heavenly Host.” They are some supernatural bad cats, and Jesus is the baddest cat of them all. Warriors dig scars. They are the spoils of war, proof of combat. Warriors are proud of them because they tell a story.

What story do Jesus’ scars tell? Yours. Mine. It’s crazy cool.

Not only does he keep his scars because he’s proud of them, he keeps those scars so nobody can ever say he did not give his life to redeem us. The devil’s got no ground to stand on. The scars are proof. Our doubts are erased the minute Jesus holds out those nail-scarred hands. Just ask him. He’ll be glad to show you.
