A LAND WITHOUT A KING

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

A kingdom is the king’s domain. Is God the King of your domain? God loves your cooperation when you give to Him what is already His.

A LAND WITHOUT A KING

It’s hard for Americans to have a kingdom mentality simply because we’ve never had a king. The American culture is an independent, “maverick” mentality. We celebrate the rugged individualism that won the west and changed how the world does virtually everything.

Americans feel at home completely on their own. A true American leader is not going to wait for approval of France to topple a Muslim terrorist regime. I like what Stormin’ Norman Swartzkoff said when France refused to help us in Operation Desert Storm.

“Going into war without France is like going into war without your accordion.”

Wee ha! That is a classic illustration of the true American mentality and I love it. It says we have no respect for your little kingdom because we are Americans. You stay on your side of the pond, make perfume and remain irrelevant, while we change the world and make a difference.

Yes, we really don’t need France because we can do it on our own.

While this kind of thinking is great for starting a business, running a farm or winning wars, it makes for terrible theology. Individualism, self-reliance and a maverick mentality that you don’t need anyone’s help doesn’t jive in relationship with Father God.

Being a Father and King, He revels in taking care of us. He enjoys supplying our needs and treasures when His kids want to follow in His footsteps. God loves to be needed, and you and I really need Him.

Make no mistake, it is easier to convince a bushman in Africa or the Amazon jungle that He needs a savior than it is to bring a Texas cattleman who worked, scraped and built his “empire” with his own muscle, to KING Jesus. They don’t see the point. They believe they can save themselves.

Do you know anyone like that? If that someone is you, know that you do need a king. You do need a savior. While you may be able to survive, even thrive, in this world, your dependence and trust in your heavenly Father are what get you into the next.

So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. – Romans 9:16

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GO AFTER THE HEART OF YOUR KING. LET GO OF YOUR INDEPENDENCE. PLEDGE YOUR ALLEGIANCE TO KING JESUS AND LEAD OTHERS INTO THE KINGDOM.

IN VAIN

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

You are a reflection of your heavenly Father and He is happy with what He sees in you. Your life is the picture on His refrigerator and He loves to brag about you. Continue to show the family resemblance through your generosity and right spirit.

IN VAIN

As a pastor, I’ve counseled many frustrated parents. While some issues are major and require immediate action, most boil down to junior’s selfishness and lack of self-control. Maturity is a constant battle, even for parents.

However, nearly every time a parent talks to me about their child’s bad behavior, there is an underlying issue – the fear people will think they’re a bad parent because of their kids.

Let me tell you this: they do. However, that doesn’t make it true! I’ve known lots of bad parents with great kids, and great parents who now visit their children in prison. Let me ask you this: Is God the perfect parent? A good Father? An awesome provider who never leaves us nor forsakes us?

The answer is yes. God is the perfect parent, yet look at how His kids act! Our children are not a direct reflection of us any more than we are a perfect picture of our Father God.

God has gotten the worst PR imaginable from His kids. You, I and the rest of His rebellious, unruly children have not represented His goodness well. We’ve actually driven people away from Jesus and the church.

Yes, every one of us has taken His name upon ourselves as “Christ-ians,” then run amok with his reputation. Haven’t our children done the same? And we won’t stand for it, yet we continue to sully Jesus’ name.

There’s a reason why the biblical Fruit of the Spirit begins with love and ends with self-control. Because you can’t have joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness without the other two.

Let’s you and I get some love and self-control. Let’s stop taking His name in vain and begin to reflect the Son so that people can be redeemed. Let’s represent Him well.

Thus says the LORD: “Let now the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let the one who boasts boast in this: that they have the understanding to know Me. That I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord. – Jeremiah 9:23-23

TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO REPENT OF TAKING LORD’S NAME IN VAIN. AS HIS CHILDREN, WE NEED TO MAKE HIS NAME FAMOUS SO OUR FAMILY CAN GROW!

THE REAL DEAL

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Jesus is the only truth you need. Let go of the lies of the past and let Jesus fill you up. Only Jesus can satisfy the hunger in your soul.

THE REAL DEAL

When I was a kid, I was a comic book freak. I loved Spiderman because of his good attitude and Conan the Barbarian because of his terrible attitude. If the stories went stupid, there was always a great full-page ad to spark my imagination.

Oh, how I wanted the sea monkeys, a hovercraft and the little machines you could use to make counterfeit money. I fantasized about buying the ant farm or the zombie mask. However, the one wonder I couldn’t resist was the x-ray glasses.

These specs were advertised to help a young man full of testosterone see past the heavily clad ladies of our youth. I wondered why everyone didn’t have a pair but quickly came to the conclusion that it was because I was a visionary genius.

So, in 1979, I saved up a whopping $1.99 for my x-ray glasses and another $5 for shipping and handling. I also dedicated the next six weeks of my life to checking the mailbox each and every day because if my mom found out I was trying to see through walls or cheerleading sweaters, I would be dead.

After what seemed like an eternity, I got a very small package in the mail. Inside was a very lame pair of cardboard glasses. I was crushed. It was a scam. Who knew? I felt so cheated and stupid. It was my first real taste of a dishonest world full of cheating schemes.

Who knew you couldn’t trust people trying to help little boys see through locker room walls and into bank vaults for the combinations?

Thanks to the father of lies, our world is filled with scams, con artists and just plain untruths. Where do I run where I know I’ll never get ripped off or disappointed? My hope is in Jesus.

You see, the proof of authenticity is not just in the book, it’s in the lives of all of us – believers who love the Lord and serve his people. We see miracles, live beyond what is reasonable and shoot for limitless possibilities. We love beyond our capacity and live beyond our means.

We choose to be battleships instead of cruise ships. That is real is the hope of Christ in us. What about you? Do you have this hope? It not, let the truth set you free.

“They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.” – Psalms 22:5

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE THE REAL DEAL. LET THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH TRANSFORM YOU INTO A WARRIOR COMMITTED TO RESCUING POW’S FROM SATAN’S GRIP.

FORMER THINGS

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

You are a chain breaker! God calls you mighty for the pulling down of strongholds, so start pulling. He has plans to give you hope, a future and to prosper you if you continue moving forward in freedom.

FORMER THINGS

I love the scene in the movie Forrest Gump where the bullies are throwing rocks at young Forrest and Jenny. Forrest has braces on his legs and Jenny, fearing for his safety, yells, “Run, Forrest! Run!”

Forest takes off, slow and bumbling because of the metal holding his legs. Swinging his scrawny limbs awkwardly, Forrest only makes his escape slower every time he turns his head to see the three little monsters pedaling their bikes. They are gaining on him!

Finally, his efforts break the braces. They fall away and Forrest is free to truly run. It’s interesting to me that from this point on, Forrest Gump never looks back!

There’s a message in that for you and me. You see, looking back can be dangerous, because it limits God’s power in your present and future. When you look back, you see your failures. You see your tormentors gaining ground. Anxiety mounts.

Let me tell you a little something about anxiety. Anxiety is nothing more than imagining a future without God in it. Anxiety is all about things that haven’t happened and probably never will. Stop trying to bring trouble from the past to your today and tomorrow!

Old hurts, habits and hangups need to stay in the past. Relationships that tear you away from God’s purpose should remain there too. You know where you’ve been, so don’t look back the way the children of Israel looked back at Egypt, or the way Lot’s wife looked back at Sodom and Gomorrah. They actually longed for the bondage and sin they left behind!

Hear me on this: that’s not you! You are a kingdom thinker. When you look to your past, you look for Jesus working in your life. When you do this, you learn to see Him in your present and future.

Did He give you direction when you had none, or provide a miracle that changed everything? Did he provide blessings and favor? Maybe He saved you from disaster? He was with you, I promise you that!

Your past is something you should learn from, build upon and find Jesus in. He’s there. He’s the only reason to look back. Now, run!

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” – Isaiah 43:18-19

TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO BREAK THE BONDS OF THE PAST AND RUN BOLDLY TO A FUTURE WITH JESUS. KEEP YOUR EYES FIXED ON THE KING AND LEAVE THE FORMER THINGS IN THE DUST WHERE THEY BELONG!

FOUR FACED!

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I am preparing a revelation to blow your mind! Dig into My Word. You will know Me in ways you’ve never dreamed. I am multi-faceted. My desire is to show you a facet of Myself that can’t be denied!

FOUR FACED!

Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and the apostle John all write of cherubim – or sometimes they are called seraphim. Make no mistake! These are not chubby babies floating around on clouds. Far from it!

These angelic beings are unlike anything in the Bible. They have six wings and all four sides of their bodies are covered with eyeballs! Now, this is a really big deal.

As they circle the throne above Jesus, they see things He’s done in the past that nobody knows about. They see things in the present and things in the future, and it blows their minds!

What’s even cooler is that cherubim have one head, but four faces that face north, south, east and west. The first face of this tripped out creature is a lion. The second is an ox, the third a man, and the fourth is the face of an eagle.

Why is this significant? Because the four faces relate to Jesus.

The Lion is Him as your King – your ruler and warrior. When Jesus shows up as a lion, He’s passionate, untamed, majestic and powerful. This is the face of Jesus in the book of Matthew.

The face of the ox is Jesus as a servant, wonder-working, docile and practical. He’s there for you – faithful, hardworking, intentional and a burden bearer. That’s how the Book of Mark introduces Him.

The face of a man is all about the human side of Jesus that can relate to us in all our joy and suffering. It’s the side of Jesus that is your friend. He’s emotional, personal and family. The book of Luke describes Jesus like this.

Then there’s John. John experienced Jesus as straight-up God – the face of the eagle. That’s the supernatural, all-powerful, eternal side of Jesus. He’s mysterious, up there, above the clouds.

Do you know Jesus like this? If you don’t, open the Book and go after that intimate knowledge of His four faces. It’s the honor of Kings to search out a matter. He wants to be found!

The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!” – Revelation 4:8

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BEGIN SEARCHING OUT THE FOUR FACES OF JESUS. HE IS ULTIMATELY COMPLEX AND UNDENIABLY PERSONAL!

I am not a politician or a celebrity, I’m a Pastor and a Kingdom leader. My role is simple: to bring truth, hope and the Spirit-filled power of the gospel of Jesus. As people are quarantined all over the world, I want my thoughts and my heart to be extremely clear and I want it for the record. Tune in as I answer evil with goodness.

ALL MEANS ALL

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

You are valuable to Me. Learn to value yourself. You are worthy because I have made you worthy in Christ. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Believe it!

ALL MEANS ALL

God is not indifferent. God loves people. He is not mad at anybody. Nobody.

“Well, I’m mad at everybody, so God has to be mad at everybody.”

God is not created in your image. The Bible says at the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, He reconciled the world unto the Father. The word reconciliation means “the removal of all hostility.” At the cross of Jesus, God put everything He’s mad at us about on Jesus.

Is the world saved? No. Reconciled means the world can now approach the Father for redemption. The upgrade of reconciliation is redemption.

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. – 2 Corinthians 5:19

How can you say, “Run to the Father because, by the way, He’s going to kill you because He’s so mad”? That’s not the way to sow seed for a harvest of drop-dead, sold-out Jesus freaks.

How can you say, “Run to the Father before He throws a hurricane at you”?  The message of the body of Christ should be clear: Because of the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, nobody has to be afraid to run to the Father for redemption.

Don’t mess this up because you don’t like or agree with somebody. Remember, all means ALL. All have been reconciled. You are responsible to plant seeds and water them for a harvest of souls. God’s not mad at anybody and that’s a great message to win a lost and hurting world.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO TELL SOMEONE GOD IS NOT MAD AT THEM. WHEN BAD THINGS HAPPEN, HE’S THERE TO LOVE AND GUIDE – NOT TO PUNISH AND JUDGE.

THE NEW THIRTY

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

The change that is upon you means it’s time for a new beginning. Instead of grumbling about change, embrace it and move to the next level God has for you!

THE NEW THIRTY

It’s funny, but I’ve never dreaded growing older. In fact, I realize 50 is the new 30!

Sure I have a healthy realization that my days are numbered. At the same time, I feel like I have lots of life to live. I no longer feel bulletproof, but at 50 I passionately believe in mortality and eternity at the same time. I think that’s a good thing.

I’ve enjoyed each season of my life and life has done nothing but get better and better. Why?

The key to a healthy attitude and victorious Christian living is a willingness to embrace transition. A blessed life is one that is growing and transforming. I also know I would not only be cursed, but I would be a curse to everyone around me if I was still the same person at 50 that I was at 21.

You see, transition is not about getting older. It’s really about advancing. We have to learn how to live “from faith to faith, everlasting to everlasting.” It’s about learning how to hope for big things and remain confident through constantly having to deal with closure.

In 50 years, I’ve said a lot of good-byes, yet I’m always hopeful of new beginnings. I’m not going to change someday. I already have and will continue to do so time and time again. Yes, change is here to stay.

You and I will live in a different world 10 years from now – some a lot better and others a whole lot worse. Since we have no control over the direction of our world, we might as well have control over our ability to be more thankful, hopeful, joyful and useful. Yes, useful! You should be too.

Lord, as times and seasons swirl past, use me to bring others to you. Help me to transition, upgrade and continue to get better and better until You call me home. And may I bring a lot of people with me! That’s my prayer for you, too! Don’t show up at your Father’s house alone!

So teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. – Psalms 90:12

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO EMBRACE YOUR TIMES AND SEASONS. FEAR NOT! GO AFTER YOUR NEXT TRANSITION AND PURPOSE YOUR HEART TO LOVE MORE PEOPLE INTO THE KINGDOM.

ENJOY THE MANNA

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I am in you and you are in Me. Do you sense My presence? I am here. I see you and am with you wherever you go. I am the Bread of Life. Find your sustenance in Me. Wear My presence like a cloak and you can go anywhere!

ENJOY THE MANNA!

The Wilderness has some really cool lessons. Like the awesome thing that happened every day for 40 years after the Exodus – when God’s people wake up, there’s food on the ground.

That would be a game-changer for me! The people would pick it up and eat it, but they were not allowed to gather two days’ worth, except for the day before the Sabbath. The lesson here? You don’t get to plan past the day in front of you when you’re learning to rely on God for your provision.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I am about the rain bread from heaven for you, and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in my law or not…” – Exodus 16:4-5

Yup, there’s a stage you go through where God doesn’t let you make plans for the far-off future. You just have to learn to live within the day you’re in – with Him and yes, it’s a test!

To pass, you’re supposed to grow up and get past the “I just need to survive the day” stage. It doesn’t mean you’re weak if it takes a while. You get to move forward when you learn to value the presence of God more than you value the thing you had.

That’s when the Spirit actually displaces the enemy within your life, and I love that. Once that enemy thought process, situation, relationship or habit is displaced, you cross another Jordan River and there’s your Promised Land!

Are you surviving in the Wilderness? A better day is coming for you! When you learn to let Him provide while you enjoy His presence, you’ll find yourself taking steps into places you never thought you’d go! For now, enjoy the manna!

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO LET JESUS DISPLACE SOME ENEMIES IN YOUR LIFE. HAVE A VALUE FOR GOD’S PRESENCE.

JESUS, SLAVERY AND ME

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God has set you free so that you can help set others free. Find those places and pass on the gift of freedom to others!

JESUS, SLAVERY AND ME

There seems to be a hatred for slavery connected to the day I was born. While I was bawlin’ for somebody to turn out the lights, 570 miles east of me, a young black man – a Christian by the name of James Meredith – looked at this hands and saw the color red. He’d just been shot.

An American veteran, Meredith almost died the day I was born. A white sniper thought he deserved to die for trying to go to college. He was the first black student admitted to the University of Mississippi, a flashpoint in the American civil rights movement.

Motivated by his faith and courageous sense of duty, Meredith stood his ground, lived to be an old man and saw his son, Joseph, graduated from the University of Mississippi with a doctorate.

He said, “Nobody picked me. I believed, and believe now, that I have a divine responsibility…”

On that same day 101 years earlier, the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution abolishing slavery was officially adopted as law.

Lincoln once said, “Slavery is founded on the selfishness of man’s nature. Opposition to it is his love of justice.”

I get all lathered up over injustice and “what ain’t right.” I think it’s part of my destiny to be a redemption fanatic. I love freedom and hate control just like my Father God. He hates it so much, He gave us and His angels free will to choose whether or not we want to be part of His family.

I’m also like my big brother, Jesus.

Hating the chains on our hearts, He left His Father and home in heaven and became a man. He taught people about God’s love and home in heaven, then battled sin on the cross and slapped our slave master, Satan, in the face by rising from the grave three days later.

Yes, human slavery is wrong so why didn’t Jesus abolish it? Because that’s our job. We invented it. You see, He came to destroy a much worse, eternal form of slavery to sin, death and Satan. As free people who love justice because our God is just, you and I have a divine responsibility. Break every chain!

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. – Galatians 5:1

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO SET SOMEONE FREE FROM ETERNAL BONDAGE TO DEATH AND SATAN. TESTIFY TO A GOOD AND JUST GOD. SET A CAPTIVE FREE.
