IN THE BEGINNING
Regardless of what’s going on around you, or inside of you, focus on Him. Align yourself with His thoughts, declare His Truths and stand on His promises. Then watch and pray.
IN THE BEGINNING…
God can be very direct, and I like that about Him. Check out the first four words of Genesis so I can make my point.
“In the beginning God…”
He just lays it out. “I started it all.” Those four words make this book illegal in every communist country in the world and most muslim nations as well.
“In the beginning God” is profound. “In the beginning God” is a game changer. “In the beginning God” is a worldview completely different from the spirit of this world. If you don’t get anything else out of Genesis, you need to get “In the beginning God.”
The book of Genesis goes through this incredible story of creation by the Word, it ends with these five words.
“…in a coffin in Egypt.” – Genesis 50:26
The first four words are the best that can be and the last four are as bad as can be. The story goes from great to horrible. We’re not just talking about dead, we’re talking about dead in a coffin in Egypt dead. That is some serious dead.
What happened? You and I entered into the picture. What an amazing capacity you and I have to mess up amazing things. We can take something that works, then partner with the devil to ruin it all. It doesn’t have to be that way.
The creator Word became flesh. The Bible says He dwelt among us and brought us life, which was the light of man. Though many did not recognize the light, you and I did! Because we have faith in Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, every day for us is “in the beginning God!”
Will you let Him give you a brand new beginning today and every day afterward? It’s a much better deal than that coffin in Egypt!
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. – John 1:14
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO START AGAIN! GIVE YOUR MESS OVER TO GOD AND HEAR HIM SAY, “IN THE BEGINNING GOD…”

PICKING A FIGHT
Those places where the enemy fights you the hardest are your areas of greatest upgrade. Let the enemy know, in no uncertain terms, that you will keep moving forward because Christ is with you and in you!
PICKING A FIGHT
In the movie “Braveheart,” William Wallace walks onto the battlefield alone, directly challenging the British army when his friend asks, “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to pick a fight,” he responds.
He didn’t go there to look at the enemy or wait for someone to make a move. He was there to actually engage and accomplish something. William Wallace was the real deal and we should be too.
Now, I’m not here to pick a fight, but I am here to be the real deal. The name Brewer means “to stir up trouble” and I’m good at it. Though I hate confrontation, I know that going against the grain – being genuine and real – causes friction.
For me, it comes in the form of hate mail – a steady stream of it. It doesn’t stop me from writing, preaching, rescuing girls out of slavery or feeding the hungry because I’m not here to play it safe. I like being out on a limb.
That’s exactly where we are when we follow Jesus. He likes to lead us into messy, dangerous, vulnerable places. When we go, He brings out our relevance. I am truly afraid of spinning my wheels and becoming irrelevant.
You and I just have to be thick-skinned enough to boldly be who God has called us to be long enough to get good mileage out of His investment.
I knew they were scheming to hurt me so I sent messengers back with this:
“I’m doing a great work. I can’t come down. Why should the world come to a standstill just so I can come down to see you?” – Nehemiah 6:3
When it comes to the things of God, refuse to be distracted. Don’t wait for something to happen. Pick a fight with the enemy and take some ground for Jesus. Free a prisoner of war and be who you were created to be.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO SEE YOURSELF AS THE BAD MOTOR SCOOTER YOU ARE. PICK A FIGHT WITH THE DEVIL AND PUNCH HELL IN THE TEETH.

WHOSE KINGDOM ARE YOU BUILDING?
The harvest is the fruit – ripe, sweet and juicy. Give Me the fruit of your labor, it will feed others. Keep it for yourself, it is bitter. Give Me your harvest. I will keep you full!
WHOSE KINGDOM ARE YOU BUILDING?
You want to see good things in your life and positive outcomes in your relationships, ministry, finances and job. What you’re looking for is fruit – just like the Lord wants to see fruit, or a positive result, from your life.
Know this: The fruit harvest will only happen if you cooperate with God and work with His agenda.
If you aren’t interested in the Spirit of the Lord, if you’re not going to seek Him whenever He tells you to seek Him. You won’t have a value for His word and if you don’t have a value for Him showing up in your prayer life, there’s never going to be a harvest.
The harvest only happens if you and I cooperate with God and His agenda. Yes, He has an agenda for the unredeemed parts of your life, the unredeemed parts of this city and nation. You have to work with Him for His agenda. It’s His Kingdom you are building, not your own.
I know I’ve been guilty over and over of trying to build my own kingdom. However, when I put God first and really go after Kingdom things, I start producing fruit. You have to be concerned with that because it’s everlasting.
Do not be fooled. God will not be mocked. So a man sows, so shall he reap. – Galatians 6:7
Want to reap fruit in your life and the Kingdom? Stop mocking God with your efforts to glorify yourself. Start building His Kingdom by plowing up the hard, fallow ground in your life. Plant love, life and redemption!
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO VALUE GOD’S PLAN FOR YOU. RIP UP REBELLION BY THE ROOTS AND PLANT A SEED OF REDEMPTION IN YOUR LIFE.

WHY SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?
Your Father has a plan for you and it is good! He’s inviting you to transform to the image of that plan. He is awaiting your “Yes and Amen!”
WHY SIT HERE UNTIL WE DIE?
Change is the only constant. If this old saying is true, and it is, why do you and I resist change so frequently and fervently? Heck, many of us just plain fear change.
That’s not a Kingdom way of thinking. I don’t want to stay the same and neither should you. If you’ve been walking with Jesus for any amount of time you should have an insatiable thirst for moving forward, increase and upgrade in your life.
I love this verse and it sums up why we need to embrace change and move forward.
“Why sit we here until we die?” – 2 Kings 7:3
This guy has the right idea. Sitting around, resisting change because you fear the future brings nothing but death! Choose to live a powerful life. Choose serving others, bringing heaven to earth and going after upgrade in your relationship with your King.
How about you? Has a fear of change kept you from moving forward? Comfort is the enemy of upgrade. So get up, follow Jesus and let Him lead you into some cool places where you can make an eternal difference.
Remember, Father God sees us for all that we can be, not what we are! Be constantly changing for the better as God moves you forward into bigger and better things.
.
TODAY IS A GREAT DAY TO REPENT OF SITTING ON THE SIDELINES. THROW COMFORT ASIDE FOR GREATNESS AND KNOWING GOD’S WILL FOR YOUR LIFE!

YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER
Don’t feel bad when you realize your mind has wandered from me. I rejoice each time you step back into my presence, where you were designed to be. You have the mind of Christ and I’m pleased every time you seek me!
YESTERDAY, TODAY AND FOREVER
The Bible tells us that God “changes not” and in a world that’s moving at a blistering pace, that knowledge is a comfort.
Because God is both eternal and eternally good, you can count on Him no matter the circumstance – even when you, yourself, cannot be counted on.
Has your prayer life changed from “God, I know you’re good” to “God I hope you’re in a good mood…”? As you get older and life’s twists and turns wear you down, for some reason, you begin to doubt God’s character. Somewhere along the line of broken relationships, lost jobs, chemo treatments and funeral homes, doubt creeps in. You no longer believe in His goodness.
Do you know what you’ve just done? You’ve recreated God in your own image! Because you’ve changed from season to season, you assume God has changed too. When your life is messed up, it’s easy to convince yourself that God isn’t really good after all because you’re not.
Hogwash! He never changes. He is the same “yesterday, today and forever.” He created you and me to yearn for His goodness, knowing we would have to fight to comprehend it.
“He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from the beginning to end.” -Ecclesiastes 3:11
Know this: God is not waiting for you to mess up so He can spank you. He wants to restore you. If you feel like God has changed or moved, look in the mirror. You’re the one who moved. Step back into His presence.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO KNOW THERE IS NO SHADOW OF TURNING IN THE LORD. HE IS OUR ROCK, OUR EVER PRESENT HELP IN TIMES OF TROUBLE. THERE IS NO ONE LIKE HIM, ESPECIALLY YOU!

WARRIORS AREN’T BORN
The battles you are going through today will be the stepping stone to the victories of tomorrow. Don’t let the enemy put a stranglehold on you. Persevere through. You will be ready for battle with the strength and stamina that God has given to you.
WARRIORS AREN’T BORN
In my day, fighting wasn’t a big deal. Today, if a fight breaks out, you can count on a mob or a gun.
My mind goes back to a terrible eighth-grade bully. Held back three years, he was a foot taller than me and had the IQ of cool whip. He seemed undefeatable. After several months of being his piñata, my history teacher and two coaches took me aside for a clandestine meeting. It was years before I knew that word meant “secret.”
In short, they wanted me to fight back. They showed me how to fight and encouraged me. My chance at redemption came soon enough and I did what they taught me. I punched the bully in the nose. The beating that followed was classic in the annals of Joshua Middle School.
Another clandestine meeting. This time, encouragement and slaps on the back. “Way to go! You had him, Troy! Why did you stop? You should have kept punching!”
In the end, I did put that bully down. I didn’t grow in stature. I grew in confidence through every terrible battle. I was no longer afraid of being beat up. My resistance discouraged that bully and he finally decided he didn’t want to mess with me.
Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. – James 4:7
I learned how to be a warrior from that bloody season of my life. You see, you don’t learn to become a warrior through victorious battles. Warriors aren’t born. They’re made through a long succession of defeats. It’s all about getting back up and going after victory again and again.
Victory grows from momentum. The Bible calls it “faithfulness” and faithfulness is all about persistence. So be persistent in the battles between your ears. Battle darkness with light, lies with truth and overcome evil with God’s goodness. Invade your earth with heaven. It’s what you were made to do!
For You have armed me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. – Psalm 18:39
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO DISCOURAGE THE ENEMY. GET UP FROM THAT DEFEAT AND TAKE A SWING AT SOMETHING BIGGER AND BETTER. DON’T BE AFRAID OF GETTING BEAT UP – THE VICTORY IS ALREADY WON!

JESUS IS THE ROCK
It’s time to hike up higher and see the view from God’s perspective. He is ready to show you His heart in the matter that you are seeking Him about, so rise up!
JESUS IS THE ROCK
According to 2 Samuel, we Christians possess a God-given ability to climb out of whatever mental mess we find ourselves in.
He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places. – 2 Samuel 22:34
Psalms 61:1-2 takes this a step further.
Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
When David says that he will cry out to God from “the ends of the world,” he’s not talking about a location. The translation should be “at the end of my rope.” You see, your ability to find God when you are at the end of your rope, or your “wits end,” is based upon your ability to seek Him when you’re at wits end in that mess.
Most of us get frustrated, throw a fit or turn away from God when the world crashes down around us. We forget that Jesus said at His ascension – or rising up – that He would be with us to “the ends of the earth,” or the end of our rope. He is the “rock that is higher than I” that David was talking about.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:18-19 that He was building His church not on Peter himself, but on the rock of revelation knowledge God downloaded to Peter. Therefore, you and I have access to a mental download from the mind of Christ to our minds. If you can see things the way God sees them, you will not be overwhelmed.
It is the “view from above” from that “rock that is higher than I” that David was referring to. Jesus has that view from the top and will give it to you right now if you give your mind to Him concerning whatever is overwhelming you. Submit your mind to Christ. It is the key to having true mental victory!
When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. – Psalms 61:1-2
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO UNDERSTAND THAT PAST, PRESENT OR FUTURE, GOD WANTS TO TURN YOUR MESS INTO A MESSAGE THAT WILL HELP AND HEAL YOU WHEN YOU’RE AT THE END OF YOUR ROPE.

THAT’S NOT YOU!
My plans are for your good and not to harm you. I am not a tyrant. While I teach you to trust me in your Wilderness, yield to My ways. Be comforted and grow strong. Your upgrade is My expected end.
THAT’S NOT YOU!
Sadly, there are many people who die in the Wilderness and never learn anything. They are so perturbed at God because they’re in the Wilderness, they never learn the value of His presence. Is that you?
The immature part of you throws a wall-eyed fit every time you get into a place that’s uncomfortable, so you rage against God. I think sometimes we forget God can be with us in painful places, so we decide He can’t be with us at all. Turning away from His presence kills your testimony, your faith and eventually, your relationship.
It doesn’t have to be that way! You don’t have to bail. If you’ve never let Him be your provider, stop that tantrum and let Him meet your needs. Need a comforter because you’re run everyone else off? His Word says He’s really good at that.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
The day is coming when you will stand before God. You will never suffer, experience pain, bawl and squall or spend all night rocking back and forth in desperation again. Trouble is, you’ll never, ever, have the opportunity to serve God in your Wilderness again. You need to imagine that.
On that day, you will say, “I wish I could be in something terrible again so I could stick with God one more time. I bailed the last time and I regret that.” Know this: that’s not you!
You are an overcomer. You are faithful and true. You do not bail on Jesus because He didn’t bail on you – and He could have! You will stick out your Wilderness experience, whatever that entails, and learn to depend on God for your needs. Pitch your tent in His presence and be comforted.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GROW UP! UNCOMFORTABLE? DON’T PITCH A FIT. PITCH A TENT AND CAMP AROUND GOD’S PRESENCE.

OPEN BOOKS
Where there is Truth, there can be conflict. Learn to welcome conflict as an opportunity to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to Earth, in love. Remember, truth without love only creates chaos and cruelty, neither of which are in the Kingdom.
OPEN BOOKS
If you learn that God in Genesis is the Creator, the covenant maker, and the promise keeper, you can learn who He is in the book of Exodus: the Deliverer, Passover Lamb and the Redeemer.
There’s this progression that goes from book to book to book. We find out more about Him with every book. His goodness builds! I think it is so cool that the Bible is no longer being written in book form. The Bible is now being written in people form.
The Bible calls you a living epistle. You are a walking Bible. A Bible with legs. It’s amazing the Word of God is no longer being written on tablets of stone, but on the fleshly tablets of men’s hearts.
You see, there is a way you reveal God that I don’t. There is a way you know God that I don’t. There is a way I can learn Jesus by being in a relationship with you that I can’t learn about Jesus without knowing you.
The Bible says in the book of Revelation that we’ll all stand before the throne and the books will be opened – you and I will be opened. Every good thing that God has written in your heart will be displayed and we will all get to look at it. Of course, He will get all the glory for it because He deserves it. Every good thing in us comes from Him and being made in His image.
That’s going to be an incredible WOW!
So the question is, what’s written on your heart? Do you know Him as the Deliverer, Passover Lamb and the Redeemer? If you do, tell someone about Him and add a chapter to your epic story.
You yourselves are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by everyone, being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts. – 2 Corinthians 3:2-3
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE AN OPEN BOOK WHERE JESUS IS CONCERNED. LIVE LIKE YOU’RE REDEEMED SO THAT OTHERS CAN READ YOUR JOY AND FIND FREEDOM THROUGH REDEMPTION!
