YOUR BIG FINISH FORWARD
Those who come after you are looking for an inheritance. Leave them one with eternal influence. They are watching you, and they see your strength, your faith, and your right-standing with God. God will increase your legacy by connecting you with next-level people to move you into your upgrade.
YOUR BIG FINISH INTO FORWARD
You do know there is a big finish coming for you, right? See, the hope and future that God gives us is, in fact, an expected end.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Or the King James says it this way:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11
God wants you to expect and have great hope for where your life will end up. When you start thinking about that, you start thinking about the legacy you leave behind.
I hope legacy is as important to you as it is to me. I want to be remembered as a guy who put his whole heart on the line for people nobody else cared about. I want to be remembered as a guy who loved Jesus and fought hard to bring others to the Kingdom.
Likewise. I want my children, and their children to bear the family resemblance.
I hope people look at my kids and say, “They’re so generous, just like their daddy!” Or watch my grandkids and say, “Their grandfather used to help whoever needed it, no questions asked, no judgments made. They’re Jesus freaks just like him!”
I want my legacy to be about the reflection of my savior in my actions.
What about you? Are you expecting a big finish? Be encouraged because one is coming and it’s going to blow people away. Are you leaving a legacy? There’s no better time to start than now!
“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments…” – Deuteronomy 7:9
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO EMBRACE YOUR DESTINY. LEAVE A LEGACY OF GOODNESS AND GENEROSITY THAT NOT ONLY OUTLIVES YOU BUT YOUR GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILDREN!

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY?
The blessings of God are all “YES and AMEN” through and in Christ Jesus. When we seek to acquire our blessings on our own or through fleshly desires we slide right by the best God has for us. Be still and let the Lord lead you into His “YES and AMEN” for you.
SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY
When I preach freedom, grace and love, I’m not preaching “carnal” because carnal things will destroy you. They will chew you up and spit you out, then laugh at you as you lay there dying.
As Christians – Christ-followers – we should have a different mindset. We should not partner with the world or carnal things. The Bible calls this being unequally yoked. That’s when you partner with worldly thinking or people who bring you down, slow you up or just drag you off course completely.
Yet, instead of trying to get those things out of our Promised Land, we make the mistake of trying to live with them. That never goes well, just ask the 12 tribes. Many times, instead of weeding these hindrances out and not tolerating their existence, they went into covenant with the enemies of God and not only learned to live with them but slept with them as well.
The result? They reproduced more enemies for the Lord and for themselves.
We do the same thing today in body, heart and mind. You and I partner with the enemy and tell ourselves we’re in control and there won’t be any consequences. But there always are.
The bottom line is this: We shouldn’t have the same conversations as non-believers. We shouldn’t laugh at the same jokes or get excited about the same things. We really shouldn’t have the same passions as the rest of the world.
Instead of trying to control our enemies, let’s just practice self-control, the final of nine “fruit of the spirit.” Self-control is the only control you truly have, so use it. Kick out some enemies today!
For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? – 2 Corinthians 6:14-16a
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO PRACTICE SELF CONTROL BY ENDING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ENEMIES IN YOUR THINKING, EMOTIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS. PARTNER WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT TO MOVE FORWARD IN YOUR PROMISED LAND.

OF BASEBALL & BULLETPROOF BIBLES
As believers, there are three families we receive; the one we’re born into, the one we’re born again into and the one we choose to fellowship with while waiting for the biggest family reunion ever. Don’t let family hurts keep you from celebrating this precious gift.
OF BASEBALL AND BULLETPROOF BIBLES
Years ago, my son, Luke, and I were on sitting on the “home-run porch” watching the Texas Rangers play ball. For a while, I was confident enough in my athletic abilities to pray for a ball to come our way. It would be cool to get our hands on a real major league ball.
At the head of the fourth inning, Michael Young drove a homer right to my seat. If you saw it on TV, I was the fat guy pushing people over to protect myself from the monster shot. There, on national television, I screamed like a little girl and jumped two full seats to my left to avoid that ball.
The really awesome dad right in front of me – apparently a real man – held his glove up in front of my face and, after catching it, handed it to his very impressed 9-year-old. Luke looked at me. I looked at Luke and we both busted out laughing.
Side note: Be careful what you pray for because you might look stupid when you get it.
One of the guys I crawled over was a 19-year-old soldier on leave from Iraq. For some reason, the whole situation reminded me of Private First Class Brendan Schweigart.
A New York native, Schweigart told his mother he always carried his Bible into battle, tucked under his bulletproof shield. One day, he was shot in the chest with a high powered rifle. That Gideon pocket Bible from boot camp saved his life by shielding his heart.
To this day, he has that Bible, bullet lodged into its pages – the bullet meant for his heart stopped somewhere in the book of Psalms. I think it’s a great idea to keep your heart protected with God’s Word.
Just like that soldier putting God’s word under his body armor didn’t know it would cause him to dodge a bullet, you and I often don’t realize that hiding God’s Word in our heart causes us to doge something much more lethal – sin. Be intentional – shield your heart.
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. – Psalms 119:11
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO FOCUS ON GOD’S WORD. HE PROMISES IT WILL ACCOMPLISH THE PURPOSE SET OUT FOR IT – SAVING YOUR HIDE AND MINE!

REVENGE TO JUSTICE
“Vengeance is mine,” says the Lord of Hosts. That means fantasies of revenge for past wrongs or hurts has no place in your thinking. Jesus wants to battle for you, bringing redemption into your wounds and leaving you with justice.
REVENGE TO JUSTICE
If you’re talking to snakes, I have this advice for you: Stop it! Why? Because those voices in your head telling you to say this, do that or turning you paranoid against people who love you are the voice of the enemy himself.
You know what I’m talking about. Those times when you relive past hurts by practicing a conversation you really shouldn’t have. Why am I telling you not to get some of your own back – a little revenge to get even for wrongs committed against you?
Because they don’t belong to you! They belong to God. You see, your Father is in charge of handling the people and situations that lay you low, not you. Vengeance belongs to the Lord and He will do battle for you.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. – Romans 12:19
The Father is uniquely equipped to bring redemption onto the battlefield. Redemption? Yes! When redemption is applied to the situation, revenge becomes justice! Isn’t that awesome?
Justice is when the poor have opportunity and the widow security. Justice is when the orphan has a name. When past hurts become ministries and outreaches to lift others out of their misery.
When Jesus rules, His majesty causes us to become overcomers in places we were once victims. Oh, I like that!
Now, the Bible tells us the devil is a liar and a thief. He loves to steal your job, your security, your relationships, your opportunities, your reputation and your territory for the Lord. If he can take your ministry, your friends or your family, he’s got you on the ropes.
Cry out to your Father, the righteous judge for justice. He can return what the thief stole and bring truth where lies once ruled the day. Let Him fight for you because the reward is justice: restoration – getting back what was taken – and restitution – getting compensation above and beyond the offense!
Call on a just God today and keep calling until He renders judgment in your favor.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO THINK OF THE INJUSTICE IN YOUR LIFE. CALL OUT THE DEVIL ON HIS SCHEMES AND DECLARE JUSTICE FOR WHAT THE ENEMY HAS TAKEN!

VOLKSWAGEN VS. CADILLAC
You are called to be My warrior. Come up from the ashes where you feel you’ve been burned. Instead, burn the enemy by helping My people going through the same thing. This is My vengeance for you! Rise up My warrior!
VOLKSWAGEN VS. CADILLAC
Your Wilderness is either going to be a 40-day or a 40-year period depending on your behavior toward the presence of God.
When you go into the Promised Land, there’s a whole new way of doing things. Many people get the thing they’ve been looking for their whole lives, but they don’t change when they cross the Jordan. The first army that shows up wipes them out.
Here’s a great example: Marriage.
You say, “Oh, God, if I could just have a woman.” You marry that woman and think you’re going to live the same way as before? No. Your life is over! There’s a whole new way of doing things now, cowboy.
You say, “Oh no, no, no. I’m still going to do things the way I was.” OK, then you’re going to be single, or live the most miserable married life you can imagine. Why?
Because you couldn’t change your method. You couldn’t change your way of thinking. You’re going to have to change because the only way to stay together is to lay down your life for that person and give up your selfish ways. That’s it!
You can gripe and fuss all you want about your marriage, but if you pray for a spouse, you will live differently when God gives you one. It’s an example of what happens with the responsibility of an upgrade. If you can’t take care of your Volkswagen, don’t ask God for a Cadillac.
“Teach me to do your will, for You are my God. Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness.” – Psalms 143:10
Is that you? Hunkered down in your busted down Jetta railing against God’s provision when you could be living large in your Caddie? Get used to God’s presence and provision then rise to the challenge of the new thing. You won’t be disappointed.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO GO AFTER THE NEW THING GOD HAS FOR YOU. LET GO OF THE PAST AND MOVE INTO YOUR DESTINY.

When changes come our way we often blame the enemy if it appears not to line up with our vision. There are times when our direction, led by the Spirit, takes us places only He can justify for our good or the good of others. The God of all time is not in a hurry…
LEAP OF FAITH
The son of a Baptist pastor, Jonathan Briley walked to work on September 11, 2001. Having grown up working on his daddy’s PA system, he was employed as the sound engineer for the famed Windows of the World restaurant.
So many terrible things happened that day that we cannot forget. Some we want to – the image of the jets slamming into the towers, the flames and smoke.
As the estimated 1,000 souls trapped on the 100-107th floors were trying to move away from the inferno about to engulf them, New Yorkers on the street looked up, their hands over their mouths. One of them was photojournalist Richard Drew, who lived nearby.
No stranger to history, Drew had been one of the four photographers present when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated nearly 40 years earlier. Today, at 9:41 a.m., 56 minutes after the ordeal began, Drew pointed his lens upward and caught the infamous shot of a man free-falling. In all, he took 13 pictures of Jonathan Briley as he plunged 1,300 feet to Church Street below.
Amazingly, Briley is vertical, almost casual as he dove headfirst ala Superman – arms by his side, left leg bent at the knee and his white jacked billowing free against black pants. This is one amazing photograph we wish we’d never seen.
An asthmatic, Briley was forced to escape the smoke. He obviously decided to die flying rather than choking. In a place and time where every option had been taken away from him, he mustered the courage to step out of the heat and into the hands of God.
His older sister, Gwendolyn, said, “Let me tell you how much Jonathan loved God. He trusted Him so much, he jumped 105 stories expecting God to catch him.”
There is so much victory in that, and this victory can be ours as well. No matter the terrible thing you’re facing today, it pales in comparison to what Jonathan Briley faced. Whatever tough decision is staring you down, have the courage to trust God when nothing else makes sense.
So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death shall be swallowed up in victory.” – 1 Corinthians 15:54
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU MAY FALL, BUT BECAUSE OF YOUR LOVE AND TRUST IN JESUS, YOU WILL RISE AGAIN!

GOD WANTS YOUR TONGUE
Love isn’t what you think, it’s what you do. Do what Jesus did.
GOD WANTS YOUR TONGUE
Once you get God into your mouth, your head will naturally follow. Consequently, get God into your head and He will make the 12-inch drop into your heart and your feelings, and you will change for the better!
We’ve all read that God’s Word is a “two-edged sword,” but what does that really mean on a practical level? It literally means “two-mouthed” so that when you join God in speaking life, truth and destiny over yourself and others, your mouth becomes a weapon the devil cannot defeat.
When you let God get a hold of your mouth, your life will change, including your mental life – the toughest area to tame. Self-doubt, hatred, past failures and inability to forgive will be defeated if you can just speak right words – the Word of God – over yourself.
There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health. – Proverbs 12:18
Why? Because speaking God’s Word activates good things in your life. It is like medicine that brings healing because positive words bring life. Negative words bring wrath, and none of us should be looking to bring wrath upon ourselves.
For many of us, it’s like speaking new language. Let’s not forget the incredible gift of simply being able to speak in a brand new way by just speaking life, goodness and God’s Word over things. Doing so will bring the upgrade you’ve been waiting for.
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE A LIFE BREATHER! SPEAK POSITIVE, GODLY WORDS OVER YOURSELF AND OTHERS, AND REBUKE THE DEATH BREATHERS WHO SPEAK LIES OVER YOUR LIFE.

THE TEMPLE AND THE BODY
I am the Living God who has given you My Holy Spirit. Don’t keep Him locked in a closet. Allow Him access to every room of your heart. He will clean your house.
THE TEMPLE AND THE BODY
The Bible says believers are not only the temple of the living God but the body of Christ. Hear me on this: those are two different things. Both cool, and both good.
The temple is rock solid. You are I are called to be living stones in the body of Christ. The body of Christ is fluid – always growing, moving and changing. While they seem to be polar opposites, they work together to bring a beauty to the church and to us.
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, whom is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own…” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
When you are the temple, there need to be certain things within your life and thinking that are rock solid. Things you won’t give up on. One of those things is that God is good. You cannot convince me God is not good. I refuse to give up on the goodness of God. I’m rock solid on that. Are you?
There are other places you thought were rock solid, but God shows up and says, “I was fine with that for a long time, but you don’t need that in your life anymore.” He uses progressive revelation to take you higher and deeper. You’re still rock-solid, maybe even more so as you know Him more.
Now you are Christ’s body and individually members of it. – 1 Corinthians 12:27
As part of the body of Christ, you’re called a “living member.” You change, progress and go after upgrade if you are truly “living.” There are a lot of Christians today who are happy in their pew playing it safe. That’s not you!
If you’re a living member, you’re serving, ministering and chasing after an intimate knowledge of God and staying in His presence. You should be transforming. If you’re not, you might not be living the life Jesus has planned for you.
Do you see it? Do you see the beauty in the dichotomy? Go after it!
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE BOTH ROCK SOLID AND FLUID IN YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS. YOU ARE THE TEMPLE AND A LIVING MEMBER OF THE BODY, SO REJOICE!

RACIAL DIVIDE?
Multiplication is better than division. God is ready to start multiplying when you come into unity with diverse brothers and sisters in Christ. He will lead you to a higher place.
RACIAL DIVIDE?
Any level of racial hatred does not belong in the Body of Christ. We’re not going to have it in this tribe.
Newsflash! We’re not supposed to be the same race. God Almighty created different races because He loves variety and uniqueness. It was a good idea because He doesn’t like everybody acting and looking the same. He loves diversity, unlike most church folk.
In the Book of Revelation, when Jesus comes back, the 12 tribes are numbered, which is 12,000 (12×12,000=144,000). This number means something and it’s not that only 144,000 people will be saved. Revelation says that number cannot be counted.
In the Kingdom, 12 stands for perfect government. The 144,000 means this: 12,000 multiplied by 12 is saying God loves them all equally and governs them equally.
God recognizes the diversity in the tribes but does not recognize any difference in His love toward them. Nor does He recognize any difference in the significance of each tribe’s contributions. They are all the same to Him.
The Body of Christ needs to be like that. If we don’t have His Spirit, and we don’t offer something different to the rest of the world, we have nothing. If Jesus Christ removes His lampstand – His manifest presence – like He did to the church at Ephesus, you can just do church without Him.
Tribe is God’s idea. It’s the bigger picture of the family. Tribe is not the devil’s idea to divide us, but we’ve helped that cosmic punk by dividing ourselves. Don’t buy the lie!
God loves all races equally, though they have different attitudes and habits. He loves them the same because they are different. Do you?
And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation…” – Revelation 5:9
TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO SQUASH RACIST ATTITUDES IN YOUR HEART WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THAT GOD LOVES DIVERSITY. IT WAS HIS IDEA AND IT BRINGS HIM GLORY!
