DOUBTING THOMAS?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Stop straining for acceptance and worrying about how things look. The Word simply instructs you to ask, seek and knock to find the open door to fulfill your needs. Asking means you will get an answer. Knocking requires action.

DOUBTING THOMAS?

Thomas gets a raw deal in history. When he wasn’t in the upper room when Jesus first appeared to the disciples, Thomas was skeptical despite the testimony of his friends. You and I would likely be skeptical too. That doesn’t mean he should be labeled as the perennial doubter.

Feel like you doubt God too often? Do you tend to fall away when something bad happens or life gets hard? Think God is punishing you for something? He’s not. God’s not mad at you, so prove it to yourself! Pull out some paper and make a list of the following things:

1) The promises God has given you. It will keep you in times of trouble.

2) The miracles God has done in your life. This list will keep you trusting God.

3) The privileges and things you love about your life. This will keep you thankful.

4) The prayers God has answered in your life. It will help you continue to pray.

5) Testimonies of things that have happened in the lives of others. This helps you see how personal God is and what great things He is capable of doing.

6) The people God has put in your path who teach, encourage and help you become closer to the Lord.

This is your list of ready answers when your mind wants to doubt the love of God in your life.

If there is one thing we should never doubt, it is the love of God. He proved it when the Word left heaven to become a baby named Jesus. He proved it again when Jesus pointed to the Father and showed His compassion through teaching and healing. And He proved it a third time on Calvary as He was physically tortured and spiritually separated from the Father on the cross.

Praise God for His resurrection and the hope of eternity it brings! There’s no reason to doubt!

“Now, therefore, write down this song for yourselves, and teach it to the children of Israel; put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for Me against the children of Israel. – Deuteronomy 31:19

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO MAKE A LIST OF THE GOOD THINGS GOD HAS DONE IN YOUR LIFE. WHEN YOU START TO DOUBT, PULL IT OUT AND REMIND YOURSELF OF A GOD WHO GAVE IT ALL TO EARN YOUR LOVE AND TRUST.

FULL DISCLOSURE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God washes your mind with the water of His Word. Pour yourself into it and He will pour Himself into you. Find freedom from wrong thinking as you soak in His Word.

FULL DISCLOSURE

God knows our thoughts. Every single one of them, good and bad. Every proposal you consider, every scheme you contemplate, every image you imagine – good, bad, natural or spiritual – it is seen and heard by your Heavenly Father.

Know this: God judges your mental actions just the same as He judges your physical actions. If you don’t believe it, let these scriptures invade your soul:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. – Psalms 19:14

The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, But the words of the pure are pleasant. – Proverbs 15:2

O Jerusalem, wash your heart from wickedness, That you may be saved. How long shall your evil thoughts lodge within you? – Jeremiah 4:14

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.” – 1 Chronicles 28:9

Are you seriously serving God in your thinking so that your mind is acceptable in His sight? Just know this: In Genesis 5, God found the thoughts of man to be continually evil both day and night. Because of this, He sent judgment. He didn’t have to wait until their thoughts became actions and they crossed the line between righteousness and sin.

Your thoughts matter to God as much as your actions. Learn to control them for His glory.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO UNDERSTAND THAT GOD KNOWS YOUR THOUGHTS. IS HE HAPPY WITH WHAT HE SEES AND HEARS IN YOUR HEAD? IF NOT, DECLARE THAT YOU HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST. DO THIS OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOUR THOUGHTS LOOK MORE LIKE HEAVEN THAN HELL.

CLEAR DEFINITION

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Father God wants you to know your identity and purpose in Him. Posture yourself to seek and receive from Him and your territory will have no bounds!

CLEAR DEFINITION

Have you ever mapped out the things you are determined to highly value? If not, let me tell you, it’s an important step to Kingdom upgrade.

Here’s where to start: determine you are going to make a big deal out of what Jesus makes a big deal out of. You are going to line your heart up with His. It’s all about the atmosphere of your life.

This is the place where you begin to map out your core values with your own, unique destination and purpose.

Eliminate the things that don’t fit. Chisel away the things that don’t look like God’s plan for your life. Then, turn up the fire and crank up the volume on the areas of your life that fit in with Kingdom living. At first, it might just be a few words or “headlines,” but ask the Holy Spirit to help you articulate more.

Maybe your headline is “supernatural,” but you’re not sure what that goes with. Have the honor of kings and search out the matter. Pretty soon, you’ll have a complete thought like, “I value the supernatural side of God in me because I choose not to live a powerless life.”

A headline like “forgiving” could easily turn into “I choose to be forgiving like Jesus because I choose not to be bitter.” Or, “I value, celebrate, encourage and practice forgiveness because I know God values restoration over punishment.”

I dare you to put your pen to paper and record some headlines or declarations about what you will value. Yes, it’s a work in progress. However, you need a starting point. Remember, this is step one in you taking charge of your atmosphere.

Don’t let the prince of the power of the air have your thoughts, attitude or values. Give it to the Prince of Peace by mapping out a plan that parallels His. You won’t regret it.

“Whatever is born of God overcomes the world.” – 1 John 5:4

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR ATMOSPHERE. MAP OUT YOUR CORE VALUES AND MAKE SURE THEY LINE UP WITH THE KINGDOM!

YOU’RE NOT GOING THAT WAY

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

You have a purpose and destiny for your life. It’s time to start dreaming big, God kind of dreams! Your past will only hold you back. Move forward in the power of the Holy Spirit!

YOU’RE NOT GOING THAT WAY!

It’s the nature of the unredeemed mind to always be looking back. Jesus mentioned this when He spoke of Lot’s wife – even He didn’t mention her name, which is probably not a good sign for her.

I don’t want to be like her. I want to look forward. I want to go further and dream big dreams.

Dave Crone, from the Mission in Vacaville, California, says the Pharisees were the dream killers of Jesus’ day. He’s exactly right. Jesus called them out on it when He told them they loved their rules more than they loved God.

Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. – Matthew 23:27-28

Ouch! So if you see somebody today doing everything within their power to put you in a religious box, know they are the very same kind of person who nailed Jesus to a board and hung Him up naked to die. For your sake, run from these people. For our sake, run them over!

While I believe without apology the church of Jesus Christ is the only boat afloat, I also believe many of us on board don’t understand the heart of the Captain. He, like His Kingdom, is progressive. Who knew? His Kingdom is without end. There are no limitations.

As long as people make methods and the function of the church their priority and focus, they are missing the boat. They are missing a relationship with a loving, powerful and just heavenly Father. They are missing the chance to love other people into the Kingdom.

Be a person who doesn’t look back. Let Jesus propel you forward into a life of adventure and responsibility. Let Him weave your dreams and His dreams for you together into a life that changes the world and brings lost people into eternity.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO DREAM BIG. LET JESUS REVEAL HIS DREAMS FOR YOU AND GO AFTER THE GREAT BIG LIFE HE HAS FOR YOU!

LOOKING FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Praise God in your storms and let the love of God pour into your life. You have no control over other people, but you can control how you respond. What is the storm compared to the one who walks on it?

LOOKIN’ FOR LOVE IN ALL THE WRONG PLACES

The next time you fall for Satan’s line that “nobody loves me” or you start to focus on the one or two people who refuse to care about you, think of Leah.

As beautiful as that name sounds in English, in Hebrew, it’s not so pretty. Her father, Laban, took one look at his cross-eyed daughter and named her “wild cow.” He and the others in their family treated her as such.

For every sideways glance and hurtful remark Leah received, her sister, Rachel, received ten praises for her beauty and grace. Laban was so convinced nobody would want to marry Leah, he conned a con man named Jacob into giving her his ring, despite his obvious love for Rachel.

When Jacob realized Leah was his lawfully wedded wife instead of the love of his life, Laban cut him a two-for-the-price-of-one deal. It didn’t work out well for any of them, especially Leah. Her entire life revolved around the fact that the people who should have loved her, didn’t.

Jacob and Rachel hated her for her intrusion into their marriage, even though it wasn’t her fault. Unfortunately, she became the “ex-wife” who never left. Leah hoped she could make her husband love her, but she was never more than a plaything for him to abuse. Good enough to sleep with, but not to treat right.

The Bible records that she gave birth to three sons and a daughter, hoping her gift to her husband would cause him to treat her like a real wife instead of a cheap prostitute. It didn’t. Finally, when her fourth son, Judah, was born, Leah had a revelation.

And she conceived again, and bore a son; and she said, “Now I will praise the Lord; therefore she called his name “Judah” and stopped bearing children. – Genesis 29:35

The name Judah means “praise.” You see, Leah stopped mourning over the lack of love she received from her husband. She started praising God for the love He showered on her with the blessing of five healthy children. She learned to ignore the scorn of Jacob and Rachel to focus on someone bigger than them.

Is this you? Have you been rejected by someone who should love you but doesn’t?

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO PRAISE GOD FOR HIS PERFECT LOVE. HE IS CRAZY ABOUT YOU, SO FOCUS ON HIM AND LET THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T LOVE YOU FADE INTO THE BACKGROUND OF YOUR THINKING. ONLY JESUS MATTERS!

HOTTIE ALERT!

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God is redeeming your thought life in the places you saw things that were not pure. He will reveal to you where He was in that moment. Places of shame, be gone in Jesus’ name!

HOTTIE ALERT!

There is no way a healthy male cannot be aware of a beautiful woman when she enters the room. This does not make him bad. This makes him a man. God programmed every man to be sight-oriented. We are naturally visual!

A godly man will struggle with this awareness and spend a lot of conscious thought in extreme combat. Like the little train that said, “I think I can. I think I can,” he chants the mantra of “I will not look. I will not look!” He ends up seeing anyway, and by the end of the day, the scarlet letter “L” for “loser” is stamped on his spiritual forehead.

Knowing the truth about awareness can really set us free. It’s not a sin to be aware of a woman’s beauty. It is a sin to let that awareness escalate into carnal imaginations.

“Commit thy works unto the Lord and thy thoughts shall be established.” – Proverbs 16:3

The word “works” here means “actions.” When we commit our mental or physical actions to God, He will establish our thought life.

Do you think Jesus was unaware of beautiful women? He was just like us – visual. Of course, He noticed women. He looked but did not lust. He was aware, but He practiced the art of “brain freeze.” He would not allow His awareness to turn into filthy imaginations.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. – Hebrews 4:15

Jesus was aware of the crimes of the hideous Roman Empire, yet He would not let His mind harbor hatred. He was aware of the corruption of the priests, yet He didn’t entertain thoughts of bitterness. He was aware of the sins of the very people He healed – hands that were restored would later be used to steal, kill or destroy. He healed them anyway.

Jesus was even aware that the very people He took care of would soon turn against Him and yell, “Crucify Him!” Yet, His mind was compassionate toward them.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO KNOW THAT IF YOU COMMIT YOUR THINKING TO GOD, HE WILL SHOW YOU THE RIGHT WAY TO THINK ABOUT THE TOPIC  THREATENING TO BRING YOU DOWN. YOU HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST!

NO VICTORIES AT BARGAIN PRICES

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

To compare is to covet. You do not need to covet where Father God is concerned. Know this: you have all His attention, all His love, all His favor and all of His Holy Spirit because they are endless. You don’t have to share Jesus!

NO VICTORIES AT BARGAIN PRICES

Spiritual envy has become a cancer in the American church. When we replace the command to “love God and love people” with “love God, be righteous,” we get ourselves into a whole mess of trouble.

Do not lose your mind trying to compare yourself and your Christian walk to others! You will never be satisfied and your envy will rip you, them and the church apart! Righteousness is a cruel and destructive measuring stick that the devil tricks us into using.

The next time you start comparing your victories, gifts, blessings, talents, relationship and ministries against someone else, stop! Ask yourself this question: “I know their glory, but do I know their story?”

Nobody gets great victory, faith or great blessings without going through their share of hell to get them. Understand this: If you want what they have, you have to pass through the same fires they did!

I once heard a world-famous preacher tell of a young man who followed him around. The young man watched everything he did and listened to every word he said. Finally, the preacher asked him why. The answer astounded him. “I want your anointing,” the young man said. So the pastor put his hand on the boy’s shoulder and began to pray.

“Lord, I pray this young man would be beat up and ostracized as a child, and would have to go to bed with a butcher knife for fear of this father. I pray that he would live in terrible poverty. I pray his family would think he was crazy and all his good friends would leave him because of the ministry. Lord, let him be constantly criticized and scrutinized by his congregation, and even his own wife, for what he does and how he does it. May he have church splits and backstabbing among his leadership team…”

Although the preacher had more to say, the young man stopped him and asked, “Why would you pray such terrible things on me?”

The pastor answered, “Because you cannot have the anointing I have without going through the things I’ve been through.”

“For they shall be ashamed of the oaks they have desired, and confounded by the gardens they have chosen” – Romans 12:15

Don’t wish for someone else’s anointing. It will bring you shame and confusion because – get this – it’s not yours! You have your own anointing if you just seek it out.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO TURN YOUR BACK ON SPIRITUAL ENVY. REPENT AND GO AFTER YOUR OWN ANOINTING. WITH IT, “NO WEAPON FASHIONED AGAINST YOU WILL PROSPER” AND YOUR STORY WILL BRING JESUS GLORY!

A HERO’S WELCOME

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God has a place in His Kingdom for everyone. Take the plunge and invite someone from your sphere of influence into His Kingdom. Step into the hero of faith that you are!

A HERO’S WELCOME

Some of my favorite memories are of seeing my family after a long trip overseas. Once, I spent a month in India and when I got home to DFW, my wife, four kids and many friends from church were there to welcome me home.

It was hard not to bawl and squawl. It was a hero’s welcome and I’ll never forget it.

When I think of homecomings, I just can’t help but think about Heaven. I have had the privilege of preaching funerals for some very close friends. To me, they were more like a homecoming. Know this: Heaven is not a place you go after you leave home.

Heaven is the home you go to after you leave this place.

I still think about my dear friend and personal secretary Paula Ledbetter. She died at the age of 37, leaving behind a loving husband and three sons. As tragic a loss as it was for us left behind, there was no doubt Paula had graduated with honors and gone home to her reward.

Over 600 people attended her funeral and many met Jesus Christ for the first time that day.

I hope you live life in a way that people know you’re a Jesus freak with a heavenly destination. Your homecoming could give orphans a home. Paula’s sure did. She was truly a hero of the faith. Are you?

In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. – John 14:2-3

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO MAKE HEAVEN THE ETERNAL HOME OF SOMEONE WHO IS LOST. TELL THEM ABOUT JESUS SO YOU CAN HAVE A HERO’S WELCOME IN YOUR FATHER’S HOUSE.

WHY AM I THUS?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God’s Word does not return void but accomplishes what He intends for it to accomplish. God’s Word bears fruit. Speak the Word of God over yourself and your family and see the fruit begin to grow!

WHY AM I THUS?

The Bible tells us of Rebecca, the wife of Isaac. Now Isaac was the promised son of Abraham and Sarah. Abraham had been told he would be the father of “many nations” and his descendants would be as “numerous as the stars.”

While it looks like Abraham got off to a slow start with one child, Isaac doubled that number. Rebecca was pregnant. Though likely overjoyed, she also knew something was stirring within that would set in motion something big for her family. She actually felt a struggle going on inside her.

“Why am I thus?” – Genesis 25:22

This simple question is one we speak every day – “Why do I feel this way?” The Lord’s reply to her is the same as He would say you to and I.

“Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels.”  – Genesis 25:23

Rebecca was going to give birth to twins – brothers who would be total opposites in every way, especially spiritually. Isn’t that just like us as well? Aren’t there two voices inside us fighting over control of our thoughts and emotions?

In the battle of faith vs. doubt, grab onto the way of thinking that promotes faith. Cast down any thinking that is cursed. You see, blessings and curses are real. In the battle for your mind, you will only have victory if you speak blessings over yourself, your family and your situation.

If you want a right mind, submit to God. Tell the devil and his negative way of thinking to pack up and hit the road. Your mental perspective can reveal the very mind of God. This allows you to line up your thinking with His. It’s His will for you! Any time you are in synch with His will, you are victorious.

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO BE A VICTORIOUS THINKER. IN THE BATTLE FOR YOUR MIND, CHOOSE THOUGHTS THAT BRING BLESSING AND DISCARD THOSE WHICH BRING CURSES.

MENTAL CASE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

God will never leave you nor forsake you. Trust that God’s got your back no matter how things look in the natural. It’s who He is!

MENTAL CASE

Living with a covenant mentality is living with a Jesus mentality. It will keep you close to God so you don’t wander off the reservation.

A covenant mentality says, “I have hope no matter what because my God will never forsake me.” In fact, He is constantly working for your benefit!

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.  – Romans 8:28

Based on the covenant between you and Jesus, you can come to these conclusions…

1. You are who He says you are no matter what.
2. You are blessed no matter what.
3. You are headed into better places no matter what.
4. You are loved no matter what.
5. You are part of His family no matter what – and it’s not because of you! It’s because of your covenant with Him!

Your covenant with God, through Jesus Christ, guarantees you are headed into bigger and better things. It is not His will, or His covenant, that you would regress, worsen or decay in any way except in laying down your life so you can put Him first.

You will always be advancing! Is that you? Are you advancing? If you’re not, it’s time to consider a change in your mental state. Covenant will change every part of your relationship with Jesus for the better!

TODAY IS A GOOD DAY TO JUDGE YOUR MENTAL STATE. IS IT BASED ON COVENANT OR TRUST IN YOURSELF? PURPOSE TO MOVE INTO A COVENANT RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD WHERE YOU TRUST HIM TO CARE FOR YOU IN EVERY WAY!

From my book: Soul Invasion
