Me and the next big thing

This week I was honored to be chosen as a member of The Next Big Thing and posted my questions on my personal blog,  www.rgsenechal.com

Please follow the link and check it out. And thanks again to Jove Belle and Kristina Knight for both thinking I deserve the honor.

And since I have to be work in 40 minutes and have a head of wet hair, that's it for me.

Happy New Year, Everybody!

Peace on Earth

It's Christmas Eve. I am pretty much without words. As a Christian, this is my favorite season, the time of my greatest hope and belief in things good for mankind and beyond. I love the secular part of Christmas, too--the presents and the music and all things shiny. Even when I was a window clerk in the post office, December was, though a definite challenge, also a definite joy.

Challenge. Yes. This December has been that. The grief of the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy has held us all it its pa...

A Pickle On The Tree

There is a funny thing on our Christmas tree and I've never known why. Seriously. Every year I put it up, every year I wonder, every year I get the same response (from my Mother-in-Law): "It just goes there...that's all I know. But you have to put it up."
What is this funny thing? A hand-blown pickle. Yes. Green and lumpy and curved. A pickle. On our Christmas Tree. Why? I don't know but it seemed important and I'm all about letting people have the things that are important to them. Plus, I fi...

A Bleeding Heart

Liz Flaherty's post yesterday said perfectly what I wanted to. No need to repeat it. Please go there and see what she said.

These are bleeding hearts from my garden. I wish they bloomed here all year long, but they froze about two months ago.

They sum up how I feel--a bleeding heart. All I can do is pray for the people in Newtown, CT. That's all most of us can do. And hope it somehow reaches them, and gives the tiniest comfort.

A time to mourn

The shootings in Sandy Hook School in Newtown, CT broke all our hearts--I know of no one who does not feel lessened, wounded in a deep and integral way that we're not going to get over any time soon. All of our lives have been changed, though none as forcibly and awfully as the families of the victims.

It is to these 26 people and the ones who love them that we dedicate this post. As we railed out our helplessness the other day and wished for something to do or something to say, a friend quote...

It's Cold Outside!!!

We've had an unusually warm fall here in SW Colorado. Up until a few days ago, I've been feeding the animals in my shirtsleeves.

But, alas, winter has arrived. Even Cataleena is bundling up in her scarf! Brrrr.....!

I'm a warm weather person. I like to garden, to ride in the mountains. I like to wear shorts, and even though I shouldn't, I like to get a tan. Skiing and snow sports hold no appeal for me, even though I live close to three world-class resorts.

I hate winter. Breaking ice tops the r...
