My Favorite Things
From time to time here on Wordwranglers, we have a Topic week. This week, Margie picked Favorites. That is a broad topic.
I have a lot of favorites, but I decided to go with my stories. What at shock, huh?
Anyway...
Fave location: Usually Colorado. Sometimes Arizona.
Fave hero: Cowboy.
Fave heroine: Usually some type of horsewoman.
Fave pet: Horses are almost always included, but I don't really consider them pets, so Australian shepherds. I...

These are a few of my favorite things...
The Wranglers are talking about favorites this week. I’ve been thinking about it ever since Margie gave us the prompt, and I have—overnight, mind you—become Julie Andrews, breaking into “Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens…” at the drop of a…of a butterfly’s wing, butterflies being near the top of my list of favorites. Speaking of lists—we’ve been doing a lot of them, and we’re leaving for Vermont as soon as I get my church clothes off (I’m writing this a day early), so a list of some...

Kiss Me
Hello Everyone!
I'm in need of a kiss. A special kiss. No, I don't want you to really kiss me, that would be a little disturbing. I want to read about your special kisses. The ones in your stories. How many ways are there to describe a kiss? The first kiss, the French kiss, the friendly kiss, the you take my breath away kiss. How about the toe curling kiss, the you've just turned me into a puddle of goo kiss? The taste like cho...

Plotting Away My Day
I am plotting a new novel. A new, not-Bix novel. After spending the past two and half years in my made up world of Cypher, Indiana, it's kind of a scary new world out here. Out here is a town which was just obliterated from the map leaving only two survivors--arch enemies--who will be on the run from the people who want to kill them.
I love dystopian. Always have--staring back in the 70's with Damnation Alley and Logan's Run. Side note, just saw Ryan Gosling is signed to do the remake of...

Where Do You Put Your Ideas?
We all have one, whether it is a physical box or jar or just a place in our mind where we tuck away little tidbits of information. I have a physical box and a place in my mind and a notebook where I write things down. It all works for me and my writing process. My ideas may come from a cemetery in a new city I'm exploring or, I may have a vision or dream with a scene fragment which will start my writing muscles. But it's my idea box where the story really begins to take hold because there are...

Two-fer Tuesday--Give Me A Hero
Hi, all!
Back by popular demand...Two-fer Tuesday! From your book, WIP or two lines you just came up with, I'd like a peek at your hero... Mine is from Wild Horses...in Jake's POV.
He wasn't lying in a pool of his own blood, just undressed and in a warm, soft bed. A quilt lay under him, and he absently stroked the worn material.

May I help you?
I would like to be helpful. Y’know what I mean? I’m sitting here at my way-too-cluttered dining room table trying to think of what to write a post about. There are so many blogs out there, so much good reading (and admittedly some not so good), so many thought-provoking interviews. And then there’s me. I’m kind of tired today, sapped by the heat and the dryness—we haven’t had measurable rain in weeks, and can’t think of anything original to write about. Or funny. When in doubt, I always go fo...

Infatuation
First Love. Infatuation. Whatever you want to call it, that's the phase I'm in right now with my new book.I want to learn everything about my characters and sometimes just listen to them talk. Hear their opinions, laugh at their jokes, cry with their sorrows.
Writing a book is kind of like raising a child. You know when you're asked what's your favorite phase? For me, as a mom and as a writer, I think it's whatever phase I'm in at the time.
I loved it when my girls were babies. But I also loved...

Name Your Tune Wednesday!
It's no secret that music plays a big part in my writing process. I make playlists for my characters and the WIP in general, I listen to jazz and light classical music as I'm drafting (noise soothes me, what can I say?) and as I'm editing the playlist gets a definite workout. Today, though, we're going to play a game.
Three songs in each of my playlists have special meaning - for me they speak directly for the hero, the heroine or the story in general.
I'll go first, since I just started a new...

Two-fer Tuesday
So, for Two-fer Tuesday, let's bring it down to TWO sentences. That's right, two. I want to see if you can find two sentences that showcase your story. Make me want to keep reading. Tell me if I got it done...."Oh, God, Wyatt. Don’t you dare die on me.”Your turn....
