Five Fun Facts

I like to get to know the authors behind their books. This week on Wordwranglers, we're doing a little get to know us introduction. I'll tell you five fun facts, and I'd like you to do the same.

1. I've been married 29 years.

2. I grew up half time in Colorado, and half time in Arizona.

3. I've written 15 books, although not all have been published.

4. I have competed in barrel racing, team penning and competitive trail riding.

5. My very favorite thing to do is trail ride with my daughter.

Who am I?

My thanks to author Penny Rader for sharing the concept for today’s post. Visit Penny at http://starlakayeromance.com/pennyrader/
I'm Liz Flaherty and this is who I am. I hope you’ll share your answers—as few or as many as you like—with us.
I AM wife to one, mother to three and their spouses, and Nana to the Magnificent Seven. I am a Christian. A writer.
I LOVE reading, sewing, laughing, babies, walking, food.
I HATE bullies and mean people. (This was Penny’s answer; I saw no way to improve on it...

This is me. Who are you?

I'm me. Being me is what I'm good at.

You want me to be engaging? Sorry. I'm an introvert.

You want to hear about drama? I've got plenty, but I've learned too much sharing is usually a bad thing. Especially when some of the people around me would rather hear about my drama, not my success. That's how I've made some enemies. Can't be too happy, it makes some people angry. So I make a point to share ALL of my successes with them. Hey, if they don't like me anyway, I'll give them a good...

Those Darn Ewings!

This summer I've been sucked into an old favorite. TNT has remade the Dallas franchise of the '80s. Nope, they didn't re-cast JR and Bobby or Miss Ellie or Jock. They've taken the show to the present - JR and Bobby's sons (John Ross and Christopher) are the 'leads' now. They're fighting it out over South Fork while JR and Bobby wage their own war.

When I heard about the new show I was immediately excited, especially when I learned it wasn't a remake but a rejuvenation (that's how I describe it...

Hang the Thief!

Before I became a published author in June, I hadn't thought much about pirates. Except, of course, Johnny Depp! For a minute, I started to think about uploading a pic to share. But, then, I remembered  a post I read the other day about a blogger who got sued, and decided not a plan.

The same day, on a crit list I belong to, a message started circulating about a free e-book site. Cool, I thought.  Then I thought, are you insane??? Somebody out there is stealing ou...

Romance...and 1968

It was 1968.
I was graduating from high school, closing in on being 18. College was an impossibility and my boyfriend and I had broken up, so the future looked a little…unfocused. But exciting. I’d hated childhood and been an uncomfortable and awkward adolescent and I knew beyond all doubt that adulthood would be better.
And it has been.
I just watched James Taylor in concert (all together now, big sigh) and he talked about it, which got me to thinking of 1968.
Paul Schutzer / Time Life Pictur...

Tangie: A Tribute

Tangerine Baker Dunham
Ten years ago, in August, I walked out of City Market and leaned over a cardboard box. Inside were three little kittens. A pair of gray longhairs, and scruffy ball of orange fur.The gray kittens were beautiful, but there was something special about the orange boy. He had so much trust in his steady golden gaze, even though his tail was broken, probably by the kids who had handled him too roughly.
He was too small to be away from his mama, and he never did get too big.
O...

Welcome Kate SeRine

Join the Wranglers in welcoming author Kate SeRine, whose debut novel, RED (Transplanted Tales, #1) will be released by eKensington on August 2. Kate's a little nervous about blogging, but I can tell by the following post there's no reason for the nerves. I hope you like it as much as I did.

Ten Signs You’re Raising Writers
Let’s face it, kids are sponges. They absorb everything, whether you like it or not. And for those of us who live and breathe writing, it seems inevitable that some of our...

Let It Rain!

Just like the rest of the country - with the possible exception of the Pacific Northwest, I'll let Margie weigh in on that - it's bee really, really, extraordinarily dry around here this summer. Since about mid-April, actually. Yes, we've had a thunderstorm or two, but normally the rain is much more plentiful, the temperatures are more moderate and ... well, the dog-days of summer are more like 85-degree warm-waves than 100-degree heat waves.

It's been between 93 and 100 for almost a week now....

Bringing Sexy Back

What's sexy to you?  I've talked many times about a steady kind of love that my husband brings...fixing things, shoeing horses, hauling hay, working out of state.

But today, I'm more interested in talking about our heroes.  Romance heroes. As everyone knows, my personal faves are cowboys.

I love ranching cowboys, and have written several. But rodeo cowboys are a whole other animal.  There's something about a guy who straps himself to a two-ton animal bent on tossing him of...
