Friends!

My blog is late today!  Why, you ask?  Because I have a new-ish Tuesday ritual--I meet two good friends on Tuesday mornings at Denny's. My gurls--Tina and Petrina--and I all started at  my town's new Target together. The three of us were on the crew hired to not only work the store, but to build it from the ground up. No, not the structure, but the interior. We put together shelves, learned planograms, and a million other things no one but Target peeps care about!

We all three w...

Are you a jeans girl?

You all know Kristi. She’s the Wednesday Wrangler who writes yummy contemporary romances and has this adorable little girl who’s gonna be a cowgirl like D’Ann, the Tuesday Wrangler who writes yummy contemporary westerns that could easily make me break out in the Bonanzatheme even though, seriously, you don’t want to hear me do that.
Well, tonight on Facebook, Kristi said, “I just saw an ad for 'dress pant yoga pants'. Um...

I've Fallen In Love Again!

Over the past couple of days, I've been taking some "me" time." During these little pockets of peace and quiet, I've rediscovered an old flame. Historical romance. I received a few free historical romance novels at nationals this year and decided to read a couple. I was instantly transported back to my twenties, that's about the last time I read a historical romance).

I have no idea why I stopped reading them! I couldn't put the book down. As soon as I finished one, I picked up another. ...

#AuthorInterview: Larissa Reinhart!

Hiya, WordWrangler readers! I'm really excited to welcome Larissa Reinhart to the blog today! Larissa's agreed to a session in the round corral, answering our invasive questions, and then she's sharing an excerpt from her new cozy mystery Hijack in Abstract, a Cherry Trucker Mystery.

Okay, then, here we go!

Liz: What woman alive or dead would you want to have dinner with and what would you talk about?

Larissa: Hey y’all! Thanks so much for having me on WordWranglers. I’m thrilled to be here!

Liz,...

Goal Shot

January is almost over.

How are your resolutions?

Did you make any? I did. A few. Some personal, that are just for me. But a few writing ones that I can share. At the top of my calendar I wrote down what I want to accomplish this year:

1. Single Title called Longshot
2. A short manuscript geared toward HQ-Intrigue (yeah, again)
3.  The next in the Callahan series tentatively titled What A Man Is...
4. My older woman/younger man story
5. A novella

Is this doable?

I think so...last year, I complete...

A hiccup in time...

A little something about depression…
No, I don’t have it. I was one of the lucky ones whose clinical depression was taken care of by the first prescription I ever tried. The doctor said give it six months and I was so scared of being depressed again that I gave it two years. Zoloft and I were best buds, lemme tell you. (A writing friend mentioned the other day that no one said “best buds” anymore, since BFF...

A Day In My Life

This is going to be really short. My alarm goes off at 5:51 in the morning and I hit the snooze button. At 6:00 a.m. I drag myself out of bed and head into the bathroom to get ready for work. At 6:45, I'm out the door and in my car, where I sit in traffic until I get to the day job somewhere around 7:45. I leave the day job around 5:00 and sit in traffic until I get home, between 6:20 and 6:45. On a really bad day, I get home about 7. I open my front do...

See-Sawing Through

I wish I had a writing schedule to share with you. I really do.

But I don't. My life is like the old seesaw on the left of this. Up and down. And all around like the merry-go-round.

Yep, at times my life is like a trip to the playground including the bumps and the bruises.

See, I don't get to write full-time and lately, not even part-time. I work in retail management to make actual money that will keep me and my family fed, clothed, and housed. And last June I was transferred to a new stor...

A Day In The Life of a Kindergarten Mom

This week we're complaining about giving you a glimpse into our writerly lives. My writerly life isn't just writerly, though, that happens with a kindergartner underfoot. Take last week, for example: we had a snowstorm, then ice on top of that and what was supposed to be bebe's first week back at school post-holiday was actually a 1-day school week..and 4 days of mommy-daddy-tainment. I'm not complaining about that (too much) because we made the best of it and figured out how to handle her ne...
