Rainbow Snippets November 10th

Happy early morning on a Sunday! The weather has been cold this week, but no precipitation (yet) beyond an early morning frost that makes hubby and I scramble to get cleared off before headed to work.

Today I plan to be a bit more active both indoors and out. Yesterday was a marathon of Dallas and coughing up a lung as I slowly get over a nasty sinus infection. Hubby has been wonderful, as has kitty, in keeping my spirits up and just being by my side when I nap.

This week I’m sticking with one of my first creations, “Love by the Numbers’. Originally printed in 2009, this has had a few covers, but the latest is below. The story is the same…about Scott the nerd and Jared the jock and how they find love while battling high school, hormones, and parental issues.

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

Blurb: Jared Adams is the smokin’ hot darling of the school baseball team. Girls fawn all over him and the world is at his feet.

Except he can’t do math.

Enter Scott Williams: nerd and mathlete. He’s only supposed to help Jared with math, but the help – and friendship – go further than that.

Fate made them friends, but is friendship all they have?

“The homework is too hard! No one but the real brains can even pass your tests. Ain’t there another way?”

Mrs.
O’Reilly curled her lip and raised her brow. “First of all, the correct word is
‘isn’t,’ Mr. Adamson. English
should be another focus of yours, I see.” She looked at Scott out of the corner of her eye and offered a
crafty grin. “I think you could benefit greatly by getting a tutor.”

Jared
laughed aloud, but he was the only one who found it amusing. His posture
stiffened. “A tutor? Me? Come on! How would that look for me to have a freakin’
tutor?”

Mrs.
O’Reilly scowled and gritted her teeth. “You’re not the first ’hot jock’ in
this school to have a tutor, young man! It’s your only chance, Mr. Adamson.
I’ve informed your parents of your difficulty. If improvement isn’t seen very
soon, you cannot be on the team next spring.”

Happy Sunday! The weather has been a true roller coaster ride this week! From bright and sunny to dark, cold, chilly nasty rain that feels like icicles pelting you. Egh. Today at least is lovely and sunny out and warm(ish). We are nearly into winter here and I already miss temps in the 60’s and 70’s. All too brief…

A little longer snip today for context as Jared gets a stern warning from his least favorite teacher.

This week I’m sticking with one of my first creations, “Love by the Numbers’. This has had a few covers, but the latest is below. The story is the same…about Scott the nerd and Jared the jock and how they find love while battling high school, hormones, and parental issues.

When Scott passed by, Jared tried to catch a glimpse of his classmate’s face but Scott’s head was always down, always hidden.

Jared’s
attention was diverted when he saw the oversized brilliant red “F” at the top
of his test. He
growled and rolled his eyes, a move which did not go unnoticed by the teacher.

“Good job, class. Most of you did very well. Those of you who didn’t, I need to speak with after class. Class dismissed. See you tomorrow.” Scott usually lagged behind, giving himself time to gather his things. He watched Jared slowly shuffle over to the teacher, facing her. She shook her bony finger at him.

“Mr.
Adamson, you are failing this course. The semester began over two months ago! I
suggest you forget next spring’s baseball season and get more serious about
your studies.”

Jared’s
eyes grew wide, but his tone remained irritated. “The homework is too hard! No
one but the real brains can even pass your tests. Ain’t there another way?”

Happy Sunday! Today the weather is divine after an all-day cold rain yesterday; so the hubby and I are going to take full advantage of the peak fall colors.

He looked into her green eyes with an expression that asked, ’Is this okay?’

The teacher
recoiled and smiled slightly. “Thank you, Mr. Adamson.” She turned sharply on her heel and
strode toward the front of the room. “Class, I have your last tests over here.
Mr. Williams, would you please pass them out?”

Scott
dutifully rose from his seat and adjusted his outfit of black cargo shorts,
black tee, and a dark olive shirt, took the papers and distributed them in his
usual methodical manner.

When
Scott passed by, Jared tried to catch a glimpse of his classmate’s face but
Scott’s head was always down, always hidden.

Happy Sunday! How did we get so close to Halloween? Wowsers, only a mere 11 days away. What are you dressing up as this year (or your kids)? I knocked on doors til I was 19 years old; I just didn’t want to stop.

Happy Sunday! It’s early in the day yet and my motivation is finally lit up. Whew. At long last this to-do list will see some much-needed action. Kitty is by my side all snuggled up in his window box; hubby will be visiting his mom soon, so it’s just yours truly knocking out some writing items and getting things prepped for the looooonnnnngggg work week ahead.

My job is going fine; it’s a temp gig, and that’s fine with me. I wouldn’t be able to stand doing this more than a few months. The people there are real characters; but they are getting a bit…shall we say…gamey. Hence, I’m bringing my headphones to try and shut them out and listen to the tunes that I enjoy.

All he had to do was flash his glowing smile at them and they followed him everywhere.

Scott was jealous of his popularity. He wished for one moment he could be as popular as Jared, and get away with what he did. An excellent example was the pencil symphony being performed at the moment. Jared’s surrounding classmates smiled and silently egged him on, Scott included. However, Mrs. O’Reilly was not amused in the slightest and turned around quickly. She crossed her arms violently against her flat chest and shot a piercing glare at Jared.

“Mr. Adamson, sit up!” she barked.

Happy Sunday! Autumn at last! A rainy dreary day here makes it ideal for pursuing my hobbies and knock out those chores too. My to-do list is a mile long and motivation is tough to find. Wish me luck!

Now, seeing him in person and getting to be his classmate piqued his curiosity.

For the
past two months, he’d watched Jared come in for algebra, usually a couple minutes late. Most
of the class would snicker in amusement. He’d always have some scantily clad
girl or muscle-bound guy by his side.

 Today was no different.
Jared had come in book-ended
by two blonde cheerleaders. All he had to do was flash his glowing smile at
them and they followed him everywhere.

Happy Sunday! Tomorrow is the first official breath of autumn and I can’t wait! Summer and heat are not my thing, nor hubby’s at all. Bring on the crisp air, changing leaves, and the entrance of the holiday season that teases us all annually.

This week I’m changing things up and posting from one of my first books “Love by the Numbers’. This has had a few covers, but the latest is below. The story is the same…about Scott the nerd and Jared the jock and how they find love while battling high school, hormones, and parental issues.

Seventeen-year-old
Scott Williams glanced up at the clock; it was almost 2 o’clock and he was still in his fifth
period class—Advanced Algebra. It had been a long day already, and this class
just would not end. He adjusted his six foot three inch frame in his very
uncomfortable wooden chair.

The
classroom was deadly silent as the teacher, Mrs. Maureen O’Reilly, wrote out
instructions for tomorrow’s class.

Suddenly,
there was the interjection of another sound into the room. Senior Jared Adamson impatiently
tapped his pencil on his desk. His brown eyes kept close watch of the time as
well. He repeatedly swept away his curly blond hair; it kept falling onto his
tan face. Jared began tapping his foot in time with the pencil.

Two weeks into this long month already?? Wowsers. Plus, my ‘staycation’ will end tomorrow as I return to the working world… weeee! I’m excited though; the job is a good distance away, but it’s in an area I love, so that helps a lot. Now to just get some tasks cleaned up ( or started) and we’re off!

This week I’m again posting from the brand new release ‘Aria” (Upstaged 4) which came out Jul 12th on Extasy Books. (links are below to their site and Amazon).

Blurb: You think you’re holding someone close, but if you’re not paying attention, they could slip right out of your arms and fall.

Asher and Erik are getting married, but Asher isn’t happy about the pressure being put on him by their families and unwittingly by Erik himself. Issues that have plagued him for a long time come bubbling to the surface and threaten to overwhelm him. Although he cries out for help, no one hears; instead they write it off as Asher throwing a tantrum again. Only Angel sees the cracks, but it’s too much for him to handle on his own, although he tries.

The pressure builds, and even though there are breakouts, still no one sees the extent of the problem until the night before the wedding, when Asher is confronted by Erik in front of all their family and friends, and bolts.

Fortunately, Asher is rescued by Vince’s Uncle Tony, who makes him an offer he can’t refuse.

The Band heads off to London for a three-month tour, and not everyone is happy about it. Vince is stressed out and worried that Angel is not being entirely faithful. Should he say something? Then Connor meets an old friend, just when he starts having doubts about his relationship with Angel, and the fur starts to fly.

Will any of the couples survive?

This week we pick up with the wedding talk that Asher can do without. Enjoy!.”

“It’s a kilt. It’s different. You know it is.”

“Whose wedding is this anyway?” Asher snapped. “I don’t want
to wear a penguin suit and sit around pretty white tables with bowls of roses
under a flower arch and play with the fairies on the way down the aisle. I want
black roses and candles and a cake with a skull on top. And I know it’s
not traditional, but neither am I.”

He threw his napkin
onto the table and stood up, scowling. “I’m going to sketch the sunset over the
paddock. Call me when it’s time to go. No, call me after the wedding.” Tossing
his hair, he slouched around the corner of the house and disappeared.
