Ten Years Ago….

Unreal! It’s 2020 and I hit ‘publish’ on many books that fateful year. Two of which have brand new covers from Winterheart Design (www.winterheart.com)

Rainbow Snippets January 5th, 2020

[image error]Rainbow snippets FB pag

Wow, it’s still very strange to type ‘2020’. I’m still waiting on the flying cars, jetpacks, and Rosie the robot to do all the cooking and cleaning. LOL. How was your New Years? Ours was quiet…as neither my hubby or myself stayed up past 10 pm.

So now with this new year upon us, I’m filling up my calendar with all of the necessary medical items that a woman my age must do (groan). Work is fine, and the rest of my life is pretty stable; so let’s pray for another boring year (medically).

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

This week I’m sticking with one of my older works again which was formerly “Refugees” but was re-named “This Time Around”.

Blurb:

Can two lonely souls finally get a second chance on getting it right?

Robert can’t believe this has happened again. His heart is in tatters, all because of his once-again ex. Out of pure frustration, he takes matters into his own hands and gives boxing a try. All he gains is an injured hand, which needs the attention of a physical therapist.

David is overwhelmed and his heart is in denial over the sudden departure of the man he was in love with. As he tries to piece his life back together, a patient needing therapy walks into his clinic and the attraction is immediate; but the desire is not.

Can these two finally find a good relationship that will last and work this time around?

“Well, I think we’ll be working together awhile. Maybe later?” Robert offered.

David shrugged. “Yeah. Later.”

The exam continued at a snail’s pace. Robert’s fingers on his left hand were badly sprained; he couldn’t make a fist at all. David recommended at least three to six weeks’ worth of therapy and to make at least two appointments per week. Robert smiled to himself and tried to keep the visit going; but David snapped up his clipboard and waved him down. The evaluation was over.

David walked to his computer to set up the next session. “This time good for you?”

“Yeah, I don’t work late. What day do you have open?”

David paged through a couple of screens and finally answered. “Two days from now, how’s that?”

“Fine with me.”

“Well, we’re done for tonight. Take it easy until then. See you in two days.”

Robert smiled lightly. “See you then. Good night, David.”“Night.”

Not the best table-side manner; but if you were David, can you blame him?

2019 is finally coming to a close. For me and my family it was a mixed bag. Job-wise things were fine, I picked up a new hobby, and my little family unit is healthy. It had other notes in there though; frustrations and angst at times; but all par for the course in this play called ‘life;.

As for New Years, no plans to party down. Not a party family in the slightest to be honest. We’re lucky to make it to midnight

We are down to the wire! All the gifts are wrapped, tree is up, lit, and decorated (despite 1/3 of the lights being out)…but it’s all good. Hope your holiday is shaping up too

Hooray for cortisone! I was petrified of the shot but thanks to some icy sensation of liquid ether (I think) I didn’t feel a thing except the cold. Ahhhh. So refreshing! Now to get full use of m y shoulder back. I’m juuuust about there.

This week I’m changing it up…I’m diving into one of my older works again which was formery “Refugees” but was re-named “This Time Around”. I last posted about this on January 19th 2019 (wow almost a year ago)…here’s where things left off:

A much longer-than-normal snip for context.

On this night, he sat quietly in his office; it was 7 o’clock. Only one more hour to go. His emerald eyes stared off into the distance, completely barren. His face was unshaven for the past three days and he was surprised at how good a beard he grew in such a short time. He felt calm, very tired, yet oddly placid. It was like the calm before the storm.

He’d sent the daytime helper home so he was flying solo. The doorbell chimed and someone rapped on the receptionist window. David hurried over to and opened the glass door a mere two inches to peer at the customer.

“Can I help you”? David asked, his voice sounding tired.

The man cocked a brow and nodded. “Yeah, hi. Dr. Nathan Clark referred me here for some hand therapy.”

David frowned and looked down at the appointment screen on the computer but honestly didn’t see anything. “Do you have an appointment?”

The customer’s eyes widened. “Oh, I thought my doctor’s office made it for me. Can you see me as a walk-in right now?”

“I guess I could do that. I need to do an evaluation first. Here, fill this out if you can, and then come on back”. David handed him a clipboard with the generic paperwork attached.

“Okay. Got a pen?”

“Hmm? Oh, yeah. Here. Just knock on the window when you’re done.”

The man nodded. “Sure thing. Oh, hey, what’s your name?”

David paused for a moment and had to laugh at himself for forgetting his own name. He felt like he was asleep. “What? Oh yeah. David. David Griffin.”

The patient smiled back. “Hi David, I’m Robert Marshall.”

“Nice to meet you. Well, just lemme know when you’re done.” David slapped the glass window shut.

Rainbow Snippets December 1st

Greetings to December! Here in the midwest the wind is fierce…gusts in the 30’s for sure. I’m very happy to not only be indoors, but to have the use of my arm back (about 75%).

Thanksgiving was wonderful as my close-knit kin and I gathered to devour a feast. Three hours together felt like five minutes

Rainbow Snippets November 17th

[image error]Rainbow snippets FB page

Happy early morning on a Sunday! Last week at this time the weather was nearly 70, the next day we had 2″ of snow. Welcome to the Midwest roller coaster!

Today I have been on productivity mode. Kitty and hubby are otherwise occupied so now’s mommy’s time.

This week I’m sticking with one of my first creations, “Love by the Numbers’. Originally printed in 2009, this has had a few covers, but the latest is below. The story is the same…about Scott the nerd and Jared the jock and how they find love while battling high school, hormones, and parental issues.

Blurb: Jared Adams is the smokin’ hot darling of the school baseball team. Girls fawn all over him and the world is at his feet.

Except he can’t do math.

Enter Scott Williams: nerd and mathlete. He’s only supposed to help Jared with math, but the help – and friendship – go further than that.

Fate made them friends, but is friendship all they have?

If improvement isn’t seen very soon, you cannot be on the team next spring.”

At the
sound of Jared’s groan,
Scott looked up briefly. He noted the eye roll, and he saw the other teen run
his hands through his curly hair in frustration. The teacher noticed as well
and looked extremely satisfied.

Jared
shifted his feet, before finally meeting the teacher’s eye.

“Fine.
Whatever. Just who would this tutor be anyway?” he asked in an exasperated
tone.

The teacher
grinned and looked over at the class assistant. “Mr. Williams, would you be
willing to tutor this young man? You’re my best pupil.”
