You'll Never Believe What Amazon's Blocked Now! (and a $0.99 box set sale!)
I can't say I was 100% surprised when I got an email from the publisher of my Wedding Heat series telling me Wedding Heat: Pretty Cousin has been blocked by Amazon.
My "Pretty Cousin" has been available from Amazon for... how long now? Almost two years, I think. The story is about lesbian cousins who are NOT blood-relatives, all of which is expressed in the blurb. A little while ago, Amazon cleansed itself of sex between family members (blood or no blood) and unpublished the book.At that time, they set the the file to "draft" on the back end, saying the blurb etc. needed to be modified to conform to their terms of service. Of course, they never spell out those terms but, hell, they're Amazon--they don't have to.
So, anyway, how do you take the "cousin" out of Pretty Cousin? It's right there in the title. The book never made its way back onto Amazon's sales floor and just last week my publisher got word that it's been officially BANNED... BY... AMAZON! That means they lock down the file on their end so no changes can be made and you can't attempt to re-publish it. Banned. Blocked. The end.
Maybe not so surprising. We all know Amazon's got a hate on for taboo erotica.
Here's the part that will shock and amaze you:
A couple days ago I got an email from Amazon. It was about the multicultural Holiday Romance Box Set I published at the end of November. Guess what? They unpublished it. They took my cute, funny, fairly tame collection of erotica and erotic romance, removed it from sale, and set it to draft. As usual, they didn't specify any reason--just that it violated their terms of service. What? Are you kidding me? How could it possibly? There's no taboo content in this collection AT ALL. There's some menage in the second novella, some adultery in the first--readers might not all like that so much; I know it's contentious--but there's absolutely nothing in the blurb that would indicate a violation of Amazon's terms of service.
I read through the blurb (this blurb) with my eyes peeled for the word that had sent up red flags:
“A Mistress’ Christmas” is a strange, dreamy trip through a young woman’s gift to her lover. She wants to give him everything, but where would he put it? Sometimes the best place to hide a secret is in plain sight.
In “All The Way,” one lucky girl spends Christmas with two sexy guys. When Josie invites her high school boyfriend Kaz to stay with her family over the holidays, there are a few things she doesn't anticipate: Kaz admitting he's still a virgin after all these years? That's a weird surprise. Her husband Rob's attempt to give Kaz a little training in the hot tub? A weird and very sexy surprise. But after the married couple treats him to some of the best nights of his life, who will Kaz fall for?
“Out of the Cold” finds geeky Amira is desperate for fun. When she meets Keith at a first aid course, she sneaks a peek at his registration form to get his email address. After exchanging some very naughty notes, they plan a get-together on New Year's Eve… but the man she meets up with isn’t Keith at all! Will Amira ring in the New Year with her online romance, or will she be left out in the cold?
And then it hit me: VIRGIN. I've heard a few people mention they'd had issues with Amazon unpublishing books containing "virgin" in the title. I think it sends up their "barely legal" flags (which is an issue in itself--barely legal is LEGAL ffs!) despite the fact that my guy is in his thirties!
So here's what I did: I revised that blurb, replacing "he's still a virgin..." with "he's still hung up on her after all these years." I re-submitted it and guess what? It's back. Easy as that.
What the SERIOUS fuck? Amazon's tearing evil erotica off their shelves for containing the word "virgin" in the blurb? I can't even... ugh!
As a little sorry-for-the-inconvenience to you (though, honestly, Amazon should be sorry-for-the-inconveniencing me!), I've put my Holiday Romance Box Set on offer for $0.99:
Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Holiday-Romance-Box-Set-Multicultural-ebook/dp/B00H2NAYUO/ref=sr_1_3?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1387783635&sr=1-3&keywords=holiday+romance+box+set
Enjoy it while you can--never know what they'll ban next!

Traditional Inuit Throat-Singing: A Lesbian Holiday Romance Short
Traditional Inuit Throat-Singing: A Lesbian Holiday Romance Short Sarah’s the kind of girlfriend who holds her cards close to her chest. If Rusidan really wants to get married, she’ll have to get used to feeling shut out.
When the city hosts a Celebration of the Arctic and Sarah runs into girls from her hometown, she’s forced to confront her past in a surprisingly direct way. Rusidan’s confused. Why is Sarah picking fights with people she’s never even mentioned before? What could they possibly have done to incur such wrath?
Will Sarah finally open up to Rusidan, or will their sensual spin on traditional Inuit throat-singing allow them to communicate without words?
Word Count: 4,500
Excerpt:
If ever you have the opportunity to witness first-hand the magnificent spectacle that is Inuit throat-singing, don’t pass it by. There is nothing on this planet so cosmically beautiful. Those are the words that kept running through Rusidan’s head as she watched the show.
On an outdoor stage stood two young women with nothing but a microphone between them. Gripping one another, hands on forearms, they cuddled so close their faces nearly touched. They sang a capella and needed no accompaniment. One began before the other, producing a breathy sound. Lower than low, like a sub-sonic pant, the beat of her chant pushed forward like a freight train. How could a female voice produce tones so deeply resonant?
Her partner joined in, filling the gaps. The second starter vocalized at a higher pitch, singing in fleeting, orgasmic sounds. It was like nothing she’d ever heard in popular music. The effect was intriguing, transfixing, visceral. It resonated in the core of Rusidan’s being.
Rhythmic vibrations rumbled her body like the bass line at a rock concert. Who’d have thought throat-singing could be such a turn-on? Sexual and spiritual, it was the sound of divine union.
Those women must have been romantic partners, Rusidan thought. The way they focused on one another, with their faces so close they could kiss, gave them away. They rocked one another’s bodies, pushing and pulling outstretched arms along with the music. They danced to the very song they created. It was stunning. Beyond stunning. It was spellbinding.
With a burst of laughter, they broke away from each other. The second partner giggled, giving the first a playful push as if to deny their beautiful act had ever taken place. Throat-singing represented pure female sensuality, to Rusidan. It seemed almost tawdry that she should witness their show of intimacy.

NaNoWriNOPE: A Month Without Words
I didn't write a word in November. Sacrilege!
It wasn't writer's block. This was a conscious decision. Many writers celebrate (celebrate?) November by participating in National Novel-Writing Month--NaNoWriMo--where the object is to start a new novel on the first of the month and finish it (or, at least 50,000 words worth) by the end of the month.
Yeah... I didn't do that. In fact I've NEVER done it--at least, not in November. November is the month that never works for me. As you probably know, writing is my full-time career. I don't set off to an evil day job in the morning and come home to this world at night. I don't even work part-time. Writing is all she wrote... which goes a long way to explaining my wretched poverty.
I used to work in business. That was years ago, but I've maintained good relationships with those people. In November, they haunt me like ghosts with fists full of dollars. November is the month when teams in business realize if they don't spend their allocated funds, their budgets will be cut back the following year. So they scramble to spend, spend, spend. And that ends up involving me.
November is pretty much the only month when I'm not eating oatmeal three meals a day.
Usually, I'll make at least a slight effort to get some writing done while I've got my freelance work going on. This year, I decided to make a change. Remember this summer when my publisher loveyoudivine Alterotica went out of business? Well, that left me sitting on a whole lot of previously published work--we're talking dozens of short stories, two anthologies, and my trans lesbian Christmas romance, The Red Satin Collection.
I made a deal with myself this November: I wouldn't write a single word. Instead, I'd take on as much freelance work as I could handle and spend my spare time (haha) revising, proofing, formatting, and self-publishing my out-of-print works.
I can't remember the last time I went a month without writing. I thought it would destroy me, but in fact I got an incredible amount of work done. There's no sense sitting on dozens of ebooks which could potentially be available for sale and bringing in money. I self-published The Red Satin Collection and My Mistress' Thighs in their second editions--ebook and print--as well as so many transgender and genderqueer shorts I've lost count.
Now, in December, I'm slowly getting back into the habit of writing, but I'm still devoting a portion of my day to getting my previously-published anthology "Kinksters" back in print, as well as publishing the individual stories in a series called "Certified SMUT."
To be honest, my time away from writing kind of took some of the pressure off. There's a huge difference between the creative end of building a story and the business end of selling it.
Now I'll have to strive for balance. Writing or selling: which is harder? Now that's a question I don't think I can answer.

Freebie Alert: Nuit Blanche (for your adulterous reading pleasure!)
Nothing says Merry Christmas like an old bald guy cheating on his wife with a much younger woman who has a slight latex fetish...
I'm watching a Victorian Christmas marathon as I type up this post (yes, it is 4 in the morning--why do you ask?), but Nuit Blanche is not a holiday story. It's actually a story from my Audrey and Lawrence collection, which is a series of short stories about a married man named Lawrence and his young mistress Audrey.
As other formerly taboo topics move more into the mainstream, it seems that adultery has taken over as the love that dare not speak its name. It's been suggested to me by readers and other authors that this reflects a shift in how we view love and marriage. Used to be that couples married young and grew apart. When divorce wasn't so common, you'd stick it out because you were expected to. If you happened to slip into indiscretion (and you were a man--double standards do apply), well, hey, that's life.
Now we're getting married later (I use the term "we" with artistic license--I've never been married) and if we want a divorce, meh, whatevs. Also, if we want polyamorous relationships, more and more of us are open to the concept. So why would you cheat on your wife, you bloody bastard? Cheating is lying and lying is unacceptable.
Speaking as a person who's written a fair amount of adultery erotica... yikes! Bad for business. My Audrey and Lawrence stories don't sell very strongly, despite being close to my heart and close to my life. In case you hadn't heard, I was mistress to a married man for nearly 10 years.
And Nuit Blanche is based very much on real events. You can't make this stuff up...

Summer is certain her landlady’s as prim as they come until ‘Nanny Victoria’ invites her into the master suite for a warm bedtime snack. The unlikely pair begins a journey of fetish exploration together, but when Summer brings a friend into this world of kink, will Nanny punish the girls or welcome another charge?
This title contains graphic descriptions of lesbian sex, age play, spankings, discipline, domination, and other fetish activities that may be considered objectionable to some readers.
Praise for Nanny State:
I loved NANNY STATE.
NANNY STATE was just so incredibly nasty.

EXCERPT:
“Victoria?”
The lights were off when I got back to the house—very unusual, because my strict landlady Victoria was pretty much always around. She’d converted the extra bedroom into an office years before I came out here for my final two years of university, and that’s where she worked as some sort of typist. I never asked for details about what she did for a living. I didn’t really care.
I know that sounds mean, but Victoria was hard to sympathize with. At times, she was unbearably controlling. She demanded I come home promptly after class, and I always resented the way she’d stand in the living room with one eye on her watch, asking, “What time do you call this, Summer?”
Victoria was an old friend of my mom’s, but the longer I stayed with her the more she acted like she owned me, like I was a little kid in need of protection. Who did she think she was, bossing me around in that passive-aggressive way of hers?
“Victoria? Are you up here?” I climbed the stairs, turning on every light as I went.
As much as I complained about Victoria breathing down my neck every hour of the day, I hated being alone in the house. It gave me the creeps. If I could afford it, I’d get a nice little apartment of my own, but that would mean finding a job. After getting fired from my last two restaurant gigs I couldn’t get a reference to save my life.
Anyway, until I finished university it was better to focus my time on writing papers and studying for exams. That’s a big part of the reason I transferred schools and came out here to live. Back home I got way too distracted by hot friends and good times.
In fact, the thing I missed most about my freedom was all the meaningless sex. Under Victoria’s roof, I couldn’t get away with shit. School and home, bedroom door open at all times. She even had the parental block set on the TV so I couldn’t watch anything with “mature themes.”
My poor pussy was craving attention, and the most I could give it was a little stroke in the shower. Even then, Victoria timed me as if I was wasting water. After five minutes, she’d be knocking on the door, hollering, “What are you doing in there?”
I stood at the top of the stairs, gazing into open, empty rooms. “Victoria?”
No response.
That settled it—she wasn’t home! No way I was going to miss this opportunity to do something naughty. Racing into my bedroom, I shut the door and pulled my laptop out of my bag.
My heart thundered in my ears while a thick heat pulsed low in my belly, spreading all the way down my thighs. I couldn’t wait.
“Gimme the good stuff,” I said as I clicked on my favourite porn site. It had a feature where you could search out what you liked best.
I typed in 'lesbian orgasms.'

Blissemas Kissmas: A Smooch from "Out of the Cold"
Victoria Blisse has organized a wonderful little tour of winter kisses. By commenting, you've got a chance to win your choice of Blissemas prizes--and they're amazing! Here at Donuts and Desires I'm supplying a wintery kiss from my story "Out of the Cold" which is available on its own from eXcessica, or in the popular Holiday Romance Box Set!
Geeky Amira met Keith in a First Aid training course. She was too shy to ask for his email address, so she swiped it from his registration form. Taking a big chance, she exchanged some very racy emails with him, starting with this one:
In my fantasy, it’s five in the morning and I wake up to a tapping sound at my bedroom window. When my eyes finally focus, I realize it’s you crouching outside my basement apartment. I’m glad you didn’t go to the front door. See, my auntie and my cousins live upstairs and they’re a very nosy bunch. You want me to let you in, you say? I smile slyly, while I mull the idea over.
“How discourteous of you to show up unannounced,” I tease. “And at such an unseemly hour! You’ve caught me in nothing but a nightie.”
To punish you, I take my time in coming to the window. Will I open it and allow you inside, out of the cold? Or won’t I? I haven’t decided yet. At least, that’s what I pretend.
Tossing my blankets down to my feet, I stretch like a cat, allowing a lot of flesh to peek out from under my black silk negligee. I roll out of bed and climb onto my big comfy reading chair under the window. You certainly do look cold, crouching out there in the five a.m. frost.
Bet you’d love to come inside, wouldn’t you?
Reaching over my bookshelf, I release the lock on my window and open it to let you in. My face and shoulders are assaulted by a gust of winter wind as I take your freezing hand. I’m relieved that my bookshelf doesn’t collapse when you climb down to safety. The winter chill accompanies you into my bedroom, but I’m too interested in your body to bother with the window.
You’re cold. You’re so cold I shiver.
“Next time you should wear a hat!” I instruct you. “You lose most of your body heat through your head, you know. Don’t worry, I’ll knit you one. I’m a whiz with two needles and a ball of wool.”
Unzipping your fleece-lined winter jacket, I tear it from your shoulders. I pull your gloves off too. Your heart is pounding. You tell me you shouldn’t be here, we’ll get into trouble. My auntie will surely catch us and then I’ll never hear the end of it.
I’m not concerned. I want you too badly to care about propriety, so I sit you down on my comfy chair and pull your grey sweatshirt over your head. “You can’t leave without your clothes, now can you?” With my help, you struggle out of your Montreal Canadiens T-shirt, tossing it impatiently onto the floor.
So this is what you look like topless.
Gazing at your smooth chest, I run my hands along its contours in the early morning glow of the winter moon. I want to feel it against me, but not before I get the rest of these clothes off you. You shiver from your excursion through the snow, so I take a cozy fleece blanket out of my cedar chest and wrap it around your shoulders. The silk of my black negligee brushes dangerously close to your cheek. Your scent is masculine and cool, like hockey rink coupled with deep sleep. The darkness feels conspicuous now, so I light every candle I can find. My cinnamon skin glows with an orange tint and yours looks golden in the candlelight.
I watch you watching me as I kneel to take off your snow-covered boots. They’re soaking my bedroom carpet, but I’ll worry about that later. Leaning forward, I showcase my ample cleavage, dying for freedom from the silk that encloses it. Oh, my breasts are so cold from the winter air. Your feet are freezing too, underneath your sports socks, so I rub them quickly between my warm hands. But my hands aren’t warm enough to defrost your poor toes, so I release warm breath upon them.
That’s better. Nice and toasty warm.
When I slowly unzip your jeans, you raise your butt so I can pull them off. With all the confidence I can muster, I remove your underwear. I’m impressed. So are you, it would appear. Your handsome cock is looking straight at me. He’s not cold. No, he’s red-hot and heat-seeking.
Rising to my feet, I get a good look at your body glowing golden in the candlelight. I am so glad you came. You have no idea how long it’s been…
Shaking my hips like a belly dancer, I remove my black silk negligee, tossing it at your head. You catch the scent of my sleepy skin, dark and feminine, as I crawl into your lap. Your skin is still cold. Frozen. Mine is warm. Hot.
Wrapping my arms around your chilly back, I shift my body close to you underneath the fleece blanket. There’s fire in your eyes, dark desire. I’ve been wanting this since we met. You’ve been wanting it too, but you didn’t know how to find me until I got in touch. You didn’t even know my last name.
We gaze deep into each other’s eyes. There’s a moment of not knowing. Will you kiss me? Of course you will. I’m sitting naked in your lap. But maybe you won’t...maybe you’ll change your mind right now and leave.
You lean forward, into my aura of warmth. I gasp as your lips part mine. Your kiss is hungry, your mouth sweltering. By contrast, your hands are cold against my back, making me shudder. Cool to the touch but sizzling on the inside, my body cries out, my tongue wrestling yours. A fight to the symbolic death.
I kiss you hard, pinning you to the back of the chair, running my hands through your shaggy auburn hair. One kiss and my cunt is screaming for you. When your palms hug my ass, my arms tighten around your core.
That feels so good...
But there's a twist to this saucy New Year's tale, and if you want to find out more you'll have to grab a copy of Out of the Cold: http://www.excessica.com/books/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15&products_id=610

No naughty encounter is ever complete until you tell somebody about it. And who doesn’t feel a tingle while reading a naughty story and wondering, “Is this true? Did that really happen?”
In this collection, you’ll find a whopping 36 erotic stories, as explicit as they are wicked! These confessions involve lesbian encounters, exhibitionism, voyeurism, deception, threesomes, group sex, sploshing, ice play, public sex, fetish, female fantasies, anal play, stranger sex, spanking, insertions, bondage, and so much more!
Read the Introduction:
No naughty encounter is ever complete until you tell somebody about it. And who doesn’t feel a tingle while reading a naughty story and wondering, “Is this true? Did that really happen?”
There’s one quality that unifies all confession-style erotic stories, no matter how sweet or how kinky: they’re all written in the first person. (I did this, I did that.) For that reason, when reading these stories, we’re particularly inclined to wonder if these stories are true. The author is writing as though they were (I cradled her breast, I kissed his mouth), so why wouldn’t we believe it?
One of the best things about confession erotica is its unique capability to allow readers to suspend disbelief. When we hear these stories, we trust that we’re being told the truth. Even if we try to be rationally and consciously skeptical, we still believe, and there’s a bit of magic in that.
So, now I’m sure you’re wondering about the confessions in this collection. Are they true? Are they fiction? The answer is yes. Some stories are entirely fictional, pure fantasy. Others draw on real events, but aren’t entirely accurate. Of course, names have been changed, to protect the “innocent” parties.
Some stories are true, some are false, some are somewhere in between. Does it spoil the fun that I’ve made this confession? I don’t think so. I still haven’t told you which are which.

Licorne: a trans lesbian unicorn fantasy
Princess Galiana has fallen in love with another woman. And that woman is trapped in a unicorn’s body. When Licorne’s cruel former master tracks her down and destroys Galiana’s castle home, the princess and the unicorn must flee to Limen, the world between worlds. Limen is a special place, where Licorne can alter her physical form. They can finally be women together--kiss each other’s mouths and touch each other’s skin and make love in the damp grass--but how will Galiana react to Licorne’s shocking transformation?
In human form, Licorne’s body comes with much more flesh than Galiana had anticipated…
Excerpt:
When her arms and legs reached the peak of exhaustion, Galiana floated on the water.
Licorne looked on from the shore, every so often bending to drink as Galiana’s naked body moved with the current. Sunlight dappled her pale breasts while a cool breeze kissed her pink nipples, drawing them to tight buds. Between her thighs, downy hair glinted like gold.
“When we reach the Limen…” Licorne began.
A sudden thrill ran through Galiana’s body, buzzing warmly in her core. “Oh Licorne, my love, I never imagined this day would come, when we could be women together, when we could be lovers at last! Though I hoped it would be in a happier circumstance.”
Licorne halted by the riverside, and Galiana saw in those beautiful blue eyes that she was lost for words.
“I have only passed through once before,” Licorne said at last. “When first escaping my master. In the Limen he could not find me, for I entered before him and one only perceives the parties with whom one crosses the threshold. My time was limited to one day and one night before I was forced to pass through into your world.”
Galiana stood in the river, sheets of water coursing from her wet hair and caressing her bottom. As Licorne explained the Limen, she found her focus shifting, her mind forming a unicorn into a woman. It had always been an idle fantasy, this idea of making love with Licorne in human form. In Licorne’s own world she had been embodied in flesh, so the fantasy was not a terrible stretch.
“You are beauty itself, my love.” Licorne lowered her head as Galiana walked dripping from the river.
“Ah, but you are vastly more so.” Falling to her knees, Galiana pressed her forehead to the expanse between Licorne’s nose and horn. Her skin tingled with anticipation. “And when you are a woman in flesh, I shan’t resist your feminine wiles. I shall kiss your face and your lips and your neck, my beauty. I shall savour your breasts and your belly before my lips fall between your legs.”
Licorne whinnied, stepping away from Galiana with shocking rapidity.
