From Your Keyboard to My Eyes…

I could use a little holiday cheer today.

Tell us a joke…share a piece of good news…share a favorite holiday memory… Your pick.

Christmas Bits

I think I’m going to get rid of our writing prompts on Thursday. They aren’t such a big hit.

Today, however, is Bits & Pieces so let’s get to it!

1) Snow man or snow angel?

2) Wrapping paper or gift bag?

3) Gifts you hated most as a kid?

4) Have you ever re-gifted? If so, tell us one. :)

Did He/She Sneak? Or Fall Asleep?

Let’s try a writing prompt today… writergirl

A single paragraph is all you need. It could put us at the beginning, middle, or end of this little scenario (that’s your choice).

Put us on Christmas Eve with a kid who is dying to meet Santa. You can make it funny, poignant, sad, whatever.

Just try…every time you’ve all tried, it’s been good stuff!

Not Digging Technology

So I got pushed into the 21st century yesterday when my trusty, if not archaic flip phone was upgraded to an I-Phone.

In the 12 hours I’ve had it (seven of which was spent sleeping), I’ve hung up on someone, missed a call, and generally been confused. And that’s only trying to grasp calls and texts. At this point, I have no intention of using it for email and Facebook–I simply don’t want to be that connected. When I walk away from my computer, I want to walk away.

Right now, I want my flip phon...

Big Screen-ing the Classics

While at the movies over the weekend with my daughters, we saw a trailer for the movie, IN THE HEART OF THE SEA (the latest Moby Dick movie). If you haven’t seen it, you can watch it HERE.

What classic novel would you like to see made into a movie (or remade if you think an earlier version fell short)?

I’d Like…

christmasgiftsI feel like having a little fun (probably because today is going to be rather non-fun thanks to a dental visit). So I’m hoping you will all humor me with today’s questions:

You’re sitting on Santa’s lap as a true believer.

1) What would you ask for today?

2) What would you want in your stocking?

3) Which reindeer would you like to meet?

Ho Ho Bits

christmascandleLet’s get straight to today’s bits:

1) What’s one holiday tradition from your childhood that you miss?

2) What’s a relatively “new” tradition you’ve added to your holiday that you love?

3) Do you travel for the holidays or stay put?

4) How early do you get up on Christmas morning?

The Unexpected

I’m dispensing with a “writing-related” post today, in favor of a few “Did you Know” facts I’ve stumbled across over the years…

1) Situation: You’redriving an unfamiliar car and you need to fill it with gas but aren’t sure what side the tank is on.

Solution (in most cars): Look at the fuel tank picture on your dash. Right below it is an arrow that is pointing to the side in which you’ll find the tank. Cool huh?

2) Situation: You’re on an unfamiliar highway and don’t know if an exit will be on th...

Back When

recordSo I was walking through Barnes & Noble yesterday (big surprise, I know) when I came across a record display.

That’s right…a record display. As in vinyl records.

I literally squealed in the aisle when I saw that.

I loved my records as a kid.I still remember the first one I ever bought with my own money–Asia.

Do you remember the first one you ever bought?

Inquiring Minds…

A few book-related questions for you today…

1) Where’s your favorite place to read?

2) How many books can you read at one time?

3) When you were a kid, did you ever act out certain stories? If so, which one sticks out in your mind most?

4) Favorite time of day to read?
