Take a Seat…Healthier
Since most of us sit way to much for our good, why not take a seat healthier?
Since being pregnant I have decided to sit in a chair less. While cruising at the house, I have been sitting on our workout ball instead of a chair. Often I will bounce a lil’ and do booty squeezes while bouncing, or kneel on the ball and balance. For our desk area, Adam and I are using a ball instead of a chair.
Sitting on a ball is great for circulation, plus you can stretch and workout on the ball!
I love incorporating a workout ball in my daily life. Give it a try!

Bethany and Adam Announce: Baby on Board!
My surf film, “Surfs Like a Girl,” will be a bit delayed in filming and releasing, but for the best reason ever – [WATCH THE VIDEO ] – Adam and I found out 5 months ago we are expecting a child! I’m happy to share this wonderful time in our lives with you! We are looking forward to becoming parents early this summer. I’ve always looked forward to one day being a mom and now that the time is coming; it is pretty nerve-racking. I pray that the Lord will lead Adam and I in this new step in life, that we may show the ways of the Lord to our child and future children. Last year was an EPIC year; I think this year will be even more exciting and memorable!
I have been surfing as much as I can before lil Jr. takes over my belly, so this past month I surfed a lot of fun waves; loving surfing just as much as ever!
Eat CLEAN but not a cleanse
Eat CLEAN but not a cleanse
There are a lot of rages or fads out there about various cleanses/diets. And I know some cleanses are awesome and some are not so great.
Cleanses are like a spring clean for our dirty body in the places we can’t see. An intense cleanse or diet can be effective, especially with the help of a natural doctor’s guidance. But if you are not up to an intense deep cleanse, try a “CLEAN!”
Adam and I are on a “Clean” right now for three weeks! Which means for three weeks we are eating extra clean. We are excluding sugar, caffeine, allergy causing foods (like wheat, corn, dairy, peanuts) and even going light on the fruit.
We are focusing on getting plenty of veggies – fresh, cooked, juiced and blended. Animal proteins, seeds, nuts, quinoa, brown rice and other yummy unprocessed goodies we can get our mouths on(: We are also having green shakes with our fav. powder “Opti-Cleanse, by Zymogen.”
Anyway I’ve been feeling really great after this first week into our CLEAN and look forward to the next two. Being prego, the clean is great for JR and me! I hope this motivates you to clean house a lil!

Fitness Tip: Pull Ups (by Adam)
Aloha. It’s Adam AKA “Honey Bunz.” Life with Bethany has been an awesome and busy adventure. So fun to grow in our love and adventure around the world together while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to others. We stay really busy, but we always try to stay active and eating healthy no matter where we’re at. I used to play football and do a variety of events in track and field. As of now though Bethany and I love to surf a lot together. Although my sports have changed, I still love doing some basic workout moves that keep me fit so I can try to keep up with Bethany in the water. Wherever we end up in the world, we find a place to workout! A community park has endless possibilities, and can be really fun after working out to play on the equipment (:
One of my favorite moves are pull-ups. These are great for strengthening your back. If you’re into doing push-ups, which strengthens your chest and triceps, it is important to balance your body with a back strengthening exercise. Pull-ups may seem intimidating, because of the fact you’re pulling up your entire body weight, but they can be eased into and beneficial when done properly.
Here are some quick tips to get you pulling up!
-find a bar that you can grip easy. An ideal bar will be about the thickness of a broom handle. The thicker the bar the harder it is to grip and do pull ups.
-start out easy. If you know it will be too hard for you to pull yourself up, find a friend that can spot you and hold your feet as you’re on the bar. You will be able to push with your legs as you pull yourself up. If you’re on your own, place a chair or something similar under the bar so that you can push of the chair with your legs. The more you do this and gain strength, the less you will have to use your legs and soon you will be on your own!
-grip. Make sure your palms are facing away from you on the bar and your hands are spaced shoulder width apart.
-full range of motion. Be sure to start with your arms completely straight and as you pull up keep your elbows in. It will be tempting to let your elbows flare out as you go up. Pull-up till your chin is above the bar and return in a controlled motion back to straight arms.
-Reps. Try and do 3 sets. Each set do as many till you can’t do any more. It will burn the muscles after a few! But keep at it and you will soon be able to increase your reps!
Thanks! And have fun!

Women’s Pipeline Invitational
The Women’s Pipe Invitational pitted 2014 World Champ Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), Carissa Moore (HAW), Tyler Wright (AUS) and Bethany Hamilton (HAW) against each other in double-overhead-plus, windy conditions at Banzai Pipeline on the famous North Shore of Oahu for a specialty heat during the Billabong Pipeline Masters.
Bethany charged into a few massive barrels in very dangerous Pipeline surf. The barrels at Pipeline (the left) weren’t holding up very we’ll due to a bad strong wind direction. But that didn’t stop Bethany from throwing herself over the ledge into the biggest waves of the heat. She came in third place.
