Big Wave Surfing
“Big wave surfing” in the surf world is considered surfing waves over about 20 feet high, so my waves at Jaws are definitely in that category. And yes, I did wipeout on some huge waves in the process – it was pretty gnarly. However, the whole experience of surfing Jaws was incredible and I would do it all over again! My documentary, Unstoppable, shows all the details of this.

How My Family Stays Grounded
I personally don’t think little boys should be in a desk or behind books for hours on end each day. That’s one of the reasons we are homeschooling. Adam has a teaching degree so he’s kind of spearheading it. We’re learning through fun play and like to make it really enjoyable for us and for them! It’s really easy to find ourselves pursuing the overly-busy American lifestyle that is so common.

Stewarding Our Minds & Bodies Well
1 Corinthians 6:19-20, tells us that: “your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God…you are not your own, for you were bought with a price”. Jesus bought you with a price and that price was shedding His blood, dying on the cross and rising again! You have been freed from sin and you are now free to use your body to serve Christ and others. How awesome!! Through faith...

Being All-In with Every Season of Life
That means being present with where I’m at and who I’m with. It takes some trial and error to find this sweet-spot. (Sometimes I overdo it, but I try my best not to!) We need to learn our strengths and weaknesses and how to balance them out. Our different personalities play into this too. Some of us are hustlers. Some of us aren’t and we just need to cruise more. That’s ok! We can put 50 things on...

A Replay of the Last 20 Years
It has been so amazing for me to think about the last 20 years and all that God has done with my story, both in my life and the lives of others. There has been such a huge ripple effect! I thought it would be fun to look back and kind of replay of all that has happened. On Oct. 31st, I was attacked by a shark and my left arm was traumatically amputated to my shoulder. However, I was determined not...

The Value of YOUR Story
Stories are so important because they remind us that we are not alone in our tough times. Other people are going through similar things. Stories encourage us that others have gotten through and overcame their difficulties. We can too with the right mindset and God’s help. Maybe your story isn’t told through a book, movie or speaking tour, but just being a mentor and sharing with the people around...

The Bride of Christ
Family and friends helped her get ready for her big day. She wanted to look beautiful and perfect for her soon-to-be husband. The groom is surprised by her extraordinary beauty when he sees her and they stand together before God to unite as one and become husband and wife. As the bride, the church needs to present herself as perfect and pure to Christ, her bridegroom. But how can we possibly be...

Building a Mother-Daughter Friendship
Sometimes it can feel tricky to navigate. However, I think it is one of the most important relationships to invest in! At this point in my life, my mom and I are very close friends and I am SO thankful that we got through the hard times. She’s my greatest mentor. I invited one of the most awesome experts on this unique mother-daughter relationship to speak at my ‘Ohana Live Event.

2 Ways to Be a Better Friend
I quickly learned as a young girl how important friends are. I chose friends that would influence me for good and, looking back, I see that this was one of the best decisions I ever made in my entire life. Some of my best memories are with my friends and they have been there for me in both the hard and the amazing times. As you choose your friends, think about that. Who will be a steady friend...

How I Navigated Sudden Fame
I think that it was more difficult for me than the actual physical change of doing life with one arm. I didn’t like being in the spotlight. I was thrust into the public eye at such a young age and I felt like I wasn’t super prepared for that. I had a heart for others ever since I was really young. This gave me the willingness to take on the challenge and bear the burden of all the media attention...
