Free Fiction Friday: The King's Confidante - Part 1

Welcome back to Free Fiction Friday...kinda! I know it's Saturday, but it's kind of a branding thing, you know? :)

I'm sorry this is getting up so late, but finding time to write this past week has been a nightmare. regardless, the first chapter is ready to go. I have no idea how long it'll be, so we'll just keep at it and see where the story leads. :)

While there is the definite possibility of NSFW content in here, it starts out SFW. :)

Also, if you've never dropped by Free Fiction Friday befor...

Drained. Tired. Sleepy. I hate all schoolchildren and heavy furniture right now.

Very very very sorry. It'll be finished and up tomorrow. :(

*ahems*

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

In other news, putting in 9 hours today, my parents need help moving furniture, and Spencer's first chapter still needs another 7-800 words before I think it's ready for primetime. We'll see just how exhausted I am by midnight. :)

Free Fiction Friday will NOT be a 12:01 tonight. It's not finished, despite my best efforts. Work's been piling on this week at, well, work, and tomorrow I'm putting in 2.5 hours of overtime, it seems. I'll do my damnedest to get the new story up and running by 9pm tomorrow, but there's a chance it'll be posted on Saturday.

At the very least, it's not slow going because Spencer isn't talkative, far from it, it's just that I get home and I'm drained, but I'm going to press on, because I need t...

State of the Vaughn: 5/4/2010

The Re-write: On hold until summer, but I'm taking little notes and such.

Free Fiction Friday: Slow going, but I'm confident I'll have a chapter ready for this Friday.

The Job: "I have to admit I'm a little surprised. Most tutors generally succumb to the stress when they get as little training as you did, but you've been projecting a lot of confidence and it's been getting your students to produce a lot of work. You're doing a good job." - My boss

The Career: SUNY Jefferson has called me, spec...

State of the Vaughn...

So Free Fiction Friday will likely have to be delayed by a week, so I can work on it intensively this weekend. I've been mentally exhausted every night now, and mostly just want to crawl into bed and watch eps of King of the Hill on Netflix.

But I have a good excuse.

I got a job.

A real go-to-work-every-day kind of job. The pay is good (like, finally move the f-ck out of my parent's house after a three month hiatus from freedom good and even save up for a car), it pumps up my teaching experie...

So I'm starting work on a new Free Fiction Friday story tonight, and it will be starring the winner of the vote: Spencer Crain.

I'll admit this is probably a good idea, since he'll be a well-developed character when I put him into the James Black's series. Plus, it's a chance to expand the mythology a bit, which I always enjoy getting a shot at.

So with any luck, you guys will be seeing a new FFF this week from me. :)

Another little writing update....

I need to get a coyote icon or something... Or, since it Spencer, a Tenacious D icon at the very least. :)

Something that [info:] mythicfox and I have been working on for The City is the rivalry between Coyotes and the Kitsune. While it's far from violent, they both know to get under each other's skin, and rather enjoy showing the other up as much as possible.

So while ruminating on this, I received another "Spencer-ism", straight from the 'yote.

"I don't know why anyone would want to sleep with a...

The Last Paladin 4 Is Out!!!

Starting at: $3.95

by Vaughn R. Demont

Facing the weakening of his liege, Lennox embarks on a quest to find Persephone, the goddess of spring, but quickly finds there is more at stake than simply ending the long winter that has gripped the City. When Lennox is ordered to call off his search, he must face a difficult choice. He can break his vows and save the damsel in distress, or remain a paladin and let a goddess die. The Rites of Spring is the sequel to the Last Paladin Chaser series.

Reader Mail... and a poll?

Dear Vaughn,
Is Free Fiction Friday over?

For starters, no, it's not over, [info:] id_locke has been carrying the torch for a while now, but I think the question was whether or not I was going to continue Free Fiction Friday.

The answer is yes.

I am working on the Lightning Rod re-write, and it looks like I'll be starting steady work next week, but it'll still leave me enough time to work on another project.

The question is... what do I work on?

So, I'll leave it to you guys to pick, as usual. ;)
