Finished the chapter for this week, so my FFF entry will be a 12:01. Going to be playing around with the posting schedule a bit for the [info:] freeficfriday community, mostly so that we can get 3 authors posting every week instead of 4 then 2 then 4 and so on. :)

Also, managed to drag my way through The Steel Remains, so I might be posting a review/reaction for that tomorrow. Probably more the latter than the former.

Going to be working more on Spence today, those I'm a little nervous about this chapter, since I'm using some characters (with permission, of course) from Simon Fielding's Let Sleeping Foxes Lie. Got about 800 words done last night, and I'm hoping to get a bit more done today.

In other news, got my first check from Samhain today, so I celebrated with some Buffalo chicken. :)

Also, new icon. I heart ZP. :)

Just finished Richelle Mead's Succubus Shadows at 1 this morning. I got the book at 5pm yesterday afternoon. Further proof that I can't come within a book written by an author in my personal Holy Trinity without buying it and devouring it inside of 8 hours.

So, with that, I'm moving on to the next book on my reading list, Richard K. Morgan's The Steel Remains. So far? The language is kinda tripping me up. It's not that it's confusing, it's that for traditional fantasy it feels a little too......

I need to get to know some other people....

Make sure to remember that not all of your online friends are erotica writers like yourself. That way, when a friend who is travelling sends you the IM from the airport, "Morning/Afternoon?", your first reaction will be that they aren't sure what time it is where you are, NOT that they're asking if you'll write a flash fiction about Morning having drunken sex with Afternoon. #LFMF

An Unexpected Review

I don't talk about my family much, but I do have a sis, and we've been an influence on each other as far as reading and writing goes. I might've mentioned before that I first got into the fantasy genre by taking over my cousin's character in Dungeons & Dragons, but I don't think I mentioned that it was my sister who got me into it.
Vampires? She let me borrow her Anne Rice.
Traditional Fantasy? She got me to read Tolkien.
Modern Urban Fantasy? She got me into Buffy.

But I've managed to get her...

So I'm working on Spence, opening up the chapter, and I realize halfway through a conversation between Spence and Thornton that I'm ripping off Aldous Huxley, and I don't know whether to be encouraged by this...

In other news, my mp3 player died yesterday after 4 long years. It was a Sansa, and it took a lot of punishment, and managed to outlast 5 sets of earbuds and even managed to beat down a glitch/virus that turned every mp3 I loaded onto it into Marilyn Manson's "The Fight Song" for a cou...
