Free Fiction Friday: The King's Confidante - Part 7
Welcome back to Free Fiction Friday!
There's a chance I might miss next week, as I'll be on vacation to celebrate the end of the school year and the release of House of Stone, which comes out on Tuesday, June 22nd. Personally, I'm looking forward to the barbecue I'll be going to. :) It's going to be a long trip down where I'm going, though, so I'm hoping to get some writing done on the way there. With any luck, I'll have something for next Friday, but if not, I'll post an excerpt from House...

FFF will be up tonight by 9pm, might be a little late, but it's the last week of school here so I'm trying to get the kids all caught up with their work and prepped for finals.

Book Review: The Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss

I realize that I'm a bit past deadline, but hopefully this week's chapter will make amends as it's over 5k rather than the usual 2k (or 3k as has been the average with Spence).

Tiny Update
Free Fiction Friday will more than likely not be a 12:01, but I'm pretty sure I'll make the 9pm EST deadline. I've already got over 1k down for the week, and I really want to get to the scene I've been promising a few people for ages now, but it's getting to it organically that's pumping up the wordcount. :)

Free Fiction Friday: The King's Confidante - Part 5
Welcome to the One Year Anniversary Edition of Free Fiction Friday!
To be honest I'm kinda amazed I've been able to keep it going this long, that I can still find people wandering the City wanting to have their stories told, but most of all I'm amazed and thankful for the support from the readers of Free Fiction Friday, both silent and vocal. You guys have kept me writing, kept my brain working, kept me on track, and for that I will be forever grateful.
I want to give a big shout-out to my fel...

How It Went...
Let's start out with the bottom line: If I want the job, it's mine.
Now the difficulties.
The pay, let's face it, sucks. SUNY Jefferson has among the lowest starting pay for adjuncts in the entire SUNY system. It... sucks on fire.
However, I was completely honest about my situation with the dean, and about how much I wanted to work there, despite the rather... less-than-expected pay (if you're curious, it's about 800 less a class than the state average).
In return, the dean seemed rather comm...

Spence is starting to really talk now, it's just a matter of finding the time to get his story down. Work's been busy, but hey, steady money's nice for a change. :) Granted, the job's growing kind of high-stress, but nothing some decent meditation can't handle. Besides, I'm looking forward to a nice apartment sometime this summer.
