Six Sentence Sunday – 19/6/11
This follows on directly from last week's snippet of Bite With Height – I thought I'd just tease you that little bit more…
For her, it was the ideal hunting ground.
At this time, just past sunset, it was always full of people, some going about their daily life, which just happened to take the crowds through one of the city's seediest areas. Others came to stare, bug-eyed, at the voluptuous women trying to entice them into lap-dancing clubs. They giggled behind their fingers as they shuffled past shop windows advertising all manner of equipment for use in the bedroom.
Then there were stag and hen parties—groups that descended on Pigalle, spent an evening causing havoc in the bars and clubs, then left, having laughed themselves hoarse and having drunk a skinful.
Most of these people were utterly harmless.

eBook Review: Bone Dressing by Michelle I Brooks
Bone Dressing is categorised as a young adult paranormal urban fantasy romance novel, which is quite the mouthful. However, it definitely comprises all these elements in a whirlwind read that left my head spinning.
The book is the story of Sydney Roberdeau, a feisty, kick ass teenager with a bad attitude. She lost her parents when she was very young and has never managed to let go of the pain, anger and resentment that that caused. Living with foster parents until her eighteenth birthday, Syd, as she prefers to be called, is counting the days to her birthday. She'll be an adult and graduating high school in one fell swoop and trying to get on with her life.
For the moment though, she's one messed up girl who spends a lot of time in the local cemetery. One night, her life is turned upside down when she meets Beau, Sarah and T.J. and it sets off a chain reaction of crazy events which results in Syd revisiting her past lives and experiencing the pain, loss and danger that comes with it. The trouble is, it's necessary in order to protect her from the enemy that's still chasing her, lifetimes later.
Bone Dressing is a lengthy book, and not one you can whizz through. It's very heavy on description and has an incredibly complex plot so if you blink, you'll miss something. I found the premise to be clever and unique, but I did feel that there were sections that could be cut down to make for a tighter narrative.
The book definitely posed more questions than it answered, but as it's part of a series, that's not a big deal and is a surefire way of getting fans to read on and find out what happens next. Overall, Bone Dressing is an interesting read and one that may appeal to fans of the genre.

A Bit of Rough Turns Up The Heat
I woke up to more reviews for A Bit of Rough this morning… always a nerve-wracking experience! They're a bit of a mixed bag in terms of there being some elements of the story that the reviewers didn't like, but on the whole, I'm still happy with the comments! Here's a selection:
"However – whilst not mind-blowing in it's originality, A Bit of Rough is a sexy tale which got me hot under the collar and gripped me right to the end. If you're look for something fast, fun, and to the point, it certainly ticks all the right boxes." Eleyna Lewis
"A Bit of Rough was a great steamy story, which packed more than enough heat for its shortness. Lucy Felthouse's detailed yet atmospheric writing definitely made the pages sizzle! If you are looking for a thrilling, sexy and satisfying read A Bit of Rough is the story for you!" The Forbidden Bookshelf
"This story is super short, super HOT, and totally worth your time… Now….my question is this. Where can I buy a "Drew" and how soon can he be delivered to me?" Dirty Geeky Sexy Reviews
Things that were picked up were the title, which one reviewer didn't like at all, and it gave another reviewer the impression that there was going to be seriously kinky, BDSM-style sex. You can check out the reviews yourself to see the negatives but none of them are going to make me cry because they're constructive and I can learn from the mistakes. So all in all, I'm still happy dancing! And it appears the unanimous decision is that the story was hot, so if you wanna get yourself some hotness, check out A Bit of Rough here.

Cassandra Carr's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration
I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Cassandra Carr, author of Circling tells us where the idea came from for her awesome story…
Over to Cassandra:
I have something to confess: I based my short story Circling (part of the Uniform Behaviour anthology), on myself and an actual experience I had. I worked as a cocktail waitress while going to college, and there was a guy who worked in the restaurant who I'd been flirting with for months. We did finally get together and ended up dating for a year and a half. Then I moved away to continue college in another city and we broke up.
Not a sad story, per se, but I call him my "one that got away". Apparently he feels the same way, because he called me a few years back. His best friend was getting married, and had asked him if there was anything in his life that he regretted. Let me preface this saying he made an awful lot of bad choices when he was younger, so there were plenty of possibilities. What did he say, though? He said he regretted me. All together now, "Awwww."
When he called me that day, I was thrilled to hear from him, but that chapter in my life had passed. However, Circling is my tribute to him and what we had together.

…Swiftly Followed by the Second
Just as I was recovering from the awesome first review, Bite With Height received another fab review – this time from Sexyreads.co.uk.
"The personalities of the two central characters are well written and The Plot works nicely as we move from friendship, to desire, passion, romance, love and finally devotion with the rewarding ending.
Definitely one with extra bite for the heart and loin warming pile!"
It doesn't get better than 5 stars! Check out the review here.
*happy dances*

First Review for Bite With Height
Hey everyone! Hope you all had a fab weekend. I did… and then to make the 'blah' of Monday morning that much easier to bear, I got an awesome review for Bite With Height.
Happily Ever After Reviews covered it, and lovely comments include:
"Bite with Height is perfect for a sultry quick escape to Paris. I really felt I'd been there wandering the streets and exploring the eves of Sacre-Coeur. So if you have a twenty minute window and fancy some sexy vampire lesbian action I urge you to pick this one up."
Check out the rest of the review too, I'm so pleased with it! It's nice to see that one of my favourite stories has been appreciated. I just hope other readers enjoy it as much!
Happy Monday, everyone

Six Sentence Sunday – 12/6/11
My latest Noble Romance release, Bite With Height, was released this week, so it seems only fitting to give you six sentences from this erotic romance set in Paris…
Meg was hungry. Or, to be more precise, she was thirsty. Taking her usual route down the Boulevard de Clichy, she knew she'd find something suitable to drink if she waited long enough. The Pigalle area was notorious both in Paris and further afield, known for its sleazy bars, clubs, and sex shops. Most young women traveling alone would avoid it like the plague. Not Meg.

Frisky Friday!
OK, so maybe frisky was a bit of a misnomer, I'm still half asleep as it's not yet lunchtime! But *checks calendar* it's definitely Friday and I've been a busy bee this week so thought I would take a moment to breathe and post some updates on here.
Firstly, the anthology Seducing the Myth is coming along nicely, and I now have something to show you! The fabulous Jackie Adshead sent me an email the other day containing two paintings. She'd had so much fun she ended up doing two mermaid paintings! We both agreed on which was more suitable for the cover, but if you check out this link you'll be able to see both. Now it's time to get it sent off and made into a complete book cover, woohoo! I'm also toying with the idea of adding the book to a print on demand service so the people that are interested in paperback versions of the book can get it. Any thoughts or recommendations? Please let me know!
Hmm… what else have I been doing? I've been working on a couple of websites for clients and made some leaps and bounds yesterday, which is always nice!
I've also been blogging all over the place again. I'm over at Blood, Lust and Erotica today talking about Bite With Height amongst other things. You can see that interview here. I also had a little rant over at Women Writers, Women Books about the curse of the erotica writer. It seems to be resonating with a lot of people already! You can check that out here.
Other exciting things? Well, I've booked my train tickets to London for the first weekend in July to attend the reading at Sh! where I'm ridiculously excited to be meeting lots of new people, some people I 'know' online but have never met, and of course people I've met before and don't see nearly enough of! I'm also going to be attending the Erotic Meet on the Friday evening, which takes place in Soho. Being so far away, I couldn't attend the last one, but by all accounts it sounds like it was a success so I was very happy to find the next one was when I was going to London anyway. You can find out more here, and follow the hashtag #eroticmeet on Twitter.
And now… I'm going to write an erotic fairy tale, so if you'll excuse me… have a fab weekend everyone.
