Justine Elyot's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration

Guards!

They're changing the guard at Buckingham Palace

Christopher Robin went down with Alice…

There's no sign of Christopher Robin in my Uniform Behaviour story (thank goodness, because that would be weird) but the Buckingham Palace guard is strongly represented.

Its representative is Greg, a man in a bearskin hat and a red jacket who spends a lot of time standing stock still with a rifle lined up with the right side of his body. There's nothing complicated or profound about the inspiration for Guard Mounting. Ever since my first childhood encounter with those impassive presences along Whitehall and outside the Queen's gaff I've wondered exactly what it would take to rumple their composure. And the heroine of my story has the same preoccupation. And a plan…

Here's a tiny snippet:

I heard him marching down the wood-floored hall, his steps quick but heavy and for a wild moment I wondered if he'd brought a gun. But when the door opened, no weapon could be seen, just six broad feet of uniformed soldier, topped with the mad bearskin hat so tall he had to duck to get under the frame.

I couldn't see his eyes, so I could only gauge his reaction to my state of semi-undress by looking at his lower face. His mouth was stretched in a thin, clean line, just as if he were on duty, and his facial muscles betrayed nothing at all. It was impressive. He really was well trained. Exactly how well trained remained to be seen.

"So," I mused, putting a finger to my lip. "Can I resist a man in uniform?"

"Any conclusions yet?" he asked, smirking and relaxing his pose.

"I think I need to carry out some tests," I told him. "Why don't you go and stand against the wall and pretend you're on duty. I want to see if I can force a reaction from you. Go on then. You're on duty, and I'm a tourist."

"I've seen a lot, Annie, but a tourist in that outfit is new to me. Do you really expect me to keep a straight face when a gorgeous, nearly-nude girl is within my grasp?"

"Yes. Actually, I do. Please? I've been thinking about this all day and I really want to do it. Humour me – I'll make it worth your while."

Lexie Bay's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration

I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Lexie Bay, author of Taken With Consent and In Love and War tells us where the ideas came from for her awesome stories…

Over to Lexie:

Lexie Bay

When Lucy put out a call for submissions for an anthology containing nothing but boys and girls in uniform, I couldn't wait to get writing.  The reason being that men in uniform are one of my all-time favourite things, alongside grubby looking bad boys in leather!  I was so excited I submitted two stories, Taken With Consent and In Love and War.

The first story I wrote and sent off was Taken With Consent, which was also the first ever story I submitted for publication.  I knew straight away which uniform I was going to write about.  I've always had a thing for policemen, after I had a fling with a gorgeous rugby player who was also a cop!  Perfectly merging two of my favourite things; big sweaty men and uniforms.

I have a confession to make too.  Some of you who follow me on Twitter may already know this, but I have to admit to being completely obsessed with The Bill.  There is nothing hotter than watching a gorgeous guy in a crisp white shirt and tight trousers, man-handling criminals!  The day it ended was a very bleak day for television.  So it was police all the way for my first foray into the world of smut.  My sexy desk cop is based entirely on Sergeant Callum Stone, from his cheeky comments to his sexy, naughty streak.  He's tall, dark and gorgeous, which fitted my character perfectly and I had so much fun writing him.

In Love and War was one of those stories that just flowed.  I have a fascination with all things Russian, especially the guys!  I've never been there so I probably have a completely unrealistic view but it always strikes me as such a passionate place.  The buildings are so beautiful and the landscape so desolate, that it can't help but inspire romance.  I wanted Anna to come across as innocent, to capture that intensity of your first love alongside the fear of the war and the guilt of upsetting her parents.  I wanted to make it sexy and dirty but combine it with some emotion too.  As a bonus, Dimitri spends a lot of the story bloody, bruised and broken which brings out the wicked streak in me!  Oh and he's based on Lucas North from Spooks, all soft brown eyes and brooding intensity, messy dark hair and a body to make you weep.

So if you're the same as me, and a well-filled uniform makes you weak with lust, how about doing your bit for the boys and girls fighting for us today and go get yourself a copy of Uniform Behaviour.  Then take a picture of you reading it and see if you can win some fabulous prizes too!

Love Lexie xx

Lexie started writing to immerse herself in a fantasy world where women are adored and men fall at their feet.  Then she realised that sometimes men do that so you can stomp all over them in your sexy stiletto boots and since then she's been creating stories that stay true to her original romantic dream while exploring the erotic, the kinky and the downright filthy.  She finally found the courage to unleash them onto the world and now writes about anything that emerges from the murky depths of her imagination, whenever she gets the opportunity.

Lexie lives with her husband and two daughters in a house by the sea on the south coast of England, and spends her days working as an accounts manager.  She loves chocolate, theme parks, BBQs on the beach and cosy winter Sundays and her dream is to write full time.

An Important Day

Today is a very important today – for two reasons.

Uniform Behaviour: Steamy Stories About Men and Women in UniformFirst, it's Armed Forces Day in the UK – a day to honour the UK's Service personnel, past, present and future. My way of doing this has been to set up the Uniform Behaviour competition. The point? Every copy of the eBook anthology sold donates a percentage to Help for Heroes – a UK charity set up to help men and women wounded in battle. That's my way of giving back to those that put themselves in danger to protect us. So that's why I'm doing the promo – the more awareness there is for the anthology, the more copies will be sold. The more copies sold, the more money I can put in the charity coffers. And that makes me very happy indeed. So, what are you waiting for? Check out the promotion now – the prizes up for grabs include eBooks, signed postcards, bookmarks, bath bombs, personalised stories and more.

The National Memorial ArboretumI actually took some time out to visit The National Memorial Arboretum recently. I've been before as part of the Ride to the Wall event, but I've never been just to walk around and look at everything. It doesn't just have memorials for the armed forces, there are ones for all kinds of things, but this beautiful memorial is the centrepiece. It's engraved with names of men and women who've lost their lives in war. I don't know anyone, personally, that's been killed but it doesn't lessen the poignancy any.

Armed Forces MemorialAnother wonderful thing about it is a clever part of its creation. A gap in the structure has been designed so that on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – Remembrance Day – the sun shines perfectly through the chink in the wall, highlighting this part of the memorial. I don't suppose I will ever see that because obviously there's a dedicated event that happens on that day every year and various VIPs attend, so most people can't get close. But I imagine it's a stunning thing to see and a wonderful way to commemorate sacrifices people have made.

The arboretum itself is free to visit (you just have to pay parking) so if you're ever close by, I'd urge a visit – it's such a peaceful and beautiful place and a perfect garden of remembrance.

On a much more celebratory note, the second important thing happening today is this very website's birthday! Yes, I was surprised to see that the site has now been going for five years, I can't believe it! I hope you will join me in raising a glass to toast five years online and five years of rambling at you lot ;) It's wonderful to think how many people I've met through having this website, lots of cool readers and writers who may never have met if not for the power of the internet! So, thank you for reading and thank you for visiting the site – I hope you're still coming back in another five years!

Rebecca Bond's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration

I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Rebecca Bond, author of Fireman's List and Sin City tells us where the ideas came from for her awesome stories…

Over to Rebecca:

Rebecca Bond

Unexpected Inspiration by Rebecca Bond

Now, I'm all for helping a hero or two and what better way to do just that then putting pen to paper and writing some juicy smut?!  I'm not gonna lie, I have a love of all things uniform – the soldier, the sailor, the doctor, you name and I've most probably thought about it, but the uniforms I love the most? The fire-fighter and the policeman.  More specifically, the NYPD get-up.

That's right, my obsession with NYC is now pretty well documented so what better setting in which to write a juicy little uniform-centric piece, it was a no-brainer.  Sin City was born out of a love for Manhattan, tattoo parlours, strong, fierce women and the NYPD uniform.  I firmly believe that everyone has that bad streak inside them – the ability to commit sin, no matter how good they are or how well they follow the rules.  Sin City sees a top notch law enforcement officer embrace corruption and commit the sweetest of sins whilst on the job.  Yes, she has sex with the perp. she's just arrested.  It's dark, it's dirty, there's a bit of ink thrown in – everything I love about a good bit of erotica.

My story, Fireman's Lift, kicks off the Uniform Behaviour anthology and tells of a smoking hot encounter within the confines of a lift (that's elevator to the US peeps out there!).  Although I'd never really paid much attention to the kit before writing this story, it was the bumping into a fireman outside Westminster Fire Station on a cold winter morning before work that got my creative juices aflame and burning brightly.  Needless to say, I spent that evening getting hot and steamy with Susie and Bryan, and Fireman's Lift was born!

Indigo Skye's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration

I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Indigo Skye, author of True Confession tells us where the idea came from for her awesome story…

Over to Indigo:

Q: What was your inspiration for the story "True Confession?"

A: I write what turns me on. As a lapsed Catholic, some of my fantasies involve flaunting sexual taboos, like having sex in a church or tempting a priest to sin. Hot young priests have always been the forbidden fruit in my banquet of sensual delights. We always want what we can't have. What's hotter than the ultimate unattainable fuck- a man of the cloth?

My female characters aren't your typical romance-novel heroines. Charlotte is anything but a passive good girl waiting patiently for the man of her dreams. A little older and wiser than Matthew, she's the one with all the power in the relationship. This aspect of the story was informed by the cougar phenomenon currently taking the nation by storm. Older women are coming into their own- taking charge in their careers and in their relationships. They refuse to settle for anything less than fabulous sex with hot young boy-toys, and I fully support that.

The concept for this story was informed by two characters. Father Matthew, a young parish priest who's questioning his vocation, meets Charlotte at a church picnic. Tempted by her womanly wiles, he invites her to join the ladies' choral society, promising to give her private singing lessons. Charlotte, the blackest sheep in his flock, will stop at nothing to get what she wants. With her sights set on the young priest, she plots to seduce him. The story races to a climax with a thrilling power play. Father Matthew soon finds he's no match for this sexy Southern belle. Tempted into sin and on a sure path to damnation, he's helpless to resist.

Indigo Skye's first novel, Her Captive Muse, was released by Noble Romance Publishers in January. Her work has been widely published online. Last fall, her short story "True Confession" was published in the anthology Uniform Behaviour. A full list of her published works is available on her blog: http://indigoskyeinkandart.blogspot.com.

eBook Review: Threefold Anthology from Total-E-Bound

Article first published as eBook Review: Threefold Anthology by Desiree Holt, Kim Dare, et al on Blogcritics.

Threefold AnthologyThreefold Anthology from Total-E-Bound contains six naughty threesome stories from Desiree Holt, Kim Dare, Brynn Paulin, Kris Norris, Suzanne Graham and Charlotte Stein. It's a whopper of a book, but if you like your erotica very hot and steamy, this is one book you should add to your to be read list. I should also point out that all the stories are one female and two male characters.

As with all anthologies, there were some stories that were more to my taste than others, but I certainly didn't dislike any of them as they were all of typical Total-E-Bound high quality.

Some of the stories had the action completely focussed on the female in the piece, with no 'crossing of swords' to borrow a phrase someone recently told me. Others, though, had hot male/male action too, so if that's not your thing, this book isn't really for you.

I had a couple of particular favourites in this anthology. Brynn Paulin's Strangers in the Night was a very atmospheric piece which drew me in from the very beginning. I could almost feel myself walking in the main character's footsteps as she headed for a night out with the specific person of getting laid. I thought the pace was brilliant, there was enough action to keep you madly turning pages, but it didn't move so quickly that you felt it was rushed. All in all I thought this was an insanely erotic, well written piece and as it was the first in a series, I will definitely be looking up the others!

Between A and Z by Suzanne Graham was the other favourite. I loved the fact that the eroticism was there from the very beginning of the story, and I also got the impression that the reader was deliberately led to think a certain thing would happen, then added a very clever twist to prove you wrong. I can't say too much as I don't want to ruin that twist for anyone, but this is a hot story that just gets increasingly hotter throughout – by the end you'll be gasping for breath.

Overall this is a smoking hot read and one I'd definitely recommend to fans of the genre. As well as allowing me to read more erotica from authors I already know and enjoy, I found it a great way to read new-to-me authors and add some of their other works to my to be read pile!

My Sexy Succubus Hits The Spot!

Succubus Comes HomeThose lovely folks over at SexyReads.co.uk are definitely making my month so far! I hadn't even made a proper announcement for Succubus Comes Home as I was waiting for it to hit Amazon Kindle, but since I've had this lovely review I've decided I would quite like to shout it from the rooftops (it's really pissing the neighbours off, though ;) ).

Firstly – isn't the cover LUSH? Well, I have the awesome Mina Carter to thank for that. As well as being a superb writer, she's also a super-duper graphic whizz, as you can see! Thank you, Mina!

Anyway, if you're wondering where you might have seen the title before, it's because it's the story that appeared in Cleis Press anthology, Dream Lover. So as much as I want everyone to buy it, if you already have the anthology, then you already have this story. As Cleis rights are non-exclusive I decided to put this sweet and hot read out as a cheap standalone for your titillation. Also, if you're a fan of Dean Winchester, you'll love this… just sayin' ;)

On to the review! I promise I am not bribing the lovely Mitnik to say nice things about my work, but here's a snippet of the review…

"The mystery of the tale is paced nicely and never pulls you away from the steamy scenes that lay ahead. Lucy's Succubi certainly brings the full heat of hell with her as the sex here sizzles with a real raw passion, and the twist when it comes is sweet. Love always finds a way and Lucy does a wonderful job of expressing that.

A Short and Very Sweet Love Story with a Twist, Rewarding Reading that'll leave your feeling warm and mushy."

Check out the full review here.

Get your hands on the story here, and it'll be coming to other eBook retailers very soon.

I Write Sex That Makes Palms Sweaty

A Bit of RoughNo, I'm not blowing my own trumpet, that is an actual quote from a reviewer. I'm rather pleased with that compliment, as you can imagine. The reviewer was talking about A Bit of Rough which she scored 4 out of 5, and commented:

"Ms Felthouse writes sex that makes your palms sweaty and heats you up…I really enjoyed the marathon session with the pretty but dull Drew! There isn't a happy ever after; this isn't an erotica romance and I accept the book isn't about love, but very hot and steamy sex. I just realised that I have used the word sex EIGHT times in a 177-word review…I think this about sums up this hot little read! :D " Scorching Book Reviews (links to full review)
