eBook Review: Angels Would Fall by J. S. Wayne

Angels Would Fall

As much as I love reading about vampires, werewolves and other supernatural creatures, I'm always up for reading something different. So this short tale from J. S. Wayne was right up my street!

Angels Would Fall tells the story of Soulbearer Moradiel, an angel, as he recounts his orders to collect the soul of a nurse and deliver it safely to the other side. It's a task he's completed successfully more times than he can remember, so it should be very simple. Only… it's not.

As Moradiel spends time watching Ariel before her impending death, there's something about her that inspires completely alien feelings in him. So alien, he's not even sure what they mean to begin with. But when he realises, he's horrified. Angels are forbidden to have these feelings, or risk being thrown out of Heaven.

Unfortunately for Moradiel, his heart seems to be ignoring what his head is saying, meaning he's faced with a terrible choice: the woman he loves or Heaven. He's torn, but what will he do? Only one way to find out…

This is fabulous short story. It's beautifully romantic, yet sexy and is a brilliant beginning to what I suspect is going to be an excellent ongoing series. If you like paranormal erotic romance, I'd definitely recommend picking this one up.

Book Review: Incubus by Carol Goodman

Article first published as Book Review: Incubus by Carol Goodman on Blogcritics.

Incubus

I know you should never judge a book by its cover, but this one is just so well done that I had to mention it. I was intrigued straight away by the imagery, the one word title and the teaser line, 'This is where all stories start, on the edge of a dark wood…'

The book is equally as intriguing as its cover, if not more so. Incubus is a fantasy/urban fantasy type novel set in New York State. The main character, Dr. Callie McFay has an interview at the college of Fairwick in their Folklore Department. Despite the fact she's really looking for a job in the city of New York, she goes along and is quickly drawn in by the town and its inhabitants. Callie becomes fascinated by an old house in the woods which belonged to one of her favourite Gothic novelists. Before she knows it, Callie has accepted the job, bought the old house and is starting a new life.

However, despite her new house and the beautiful setting, everything is far from idyllic. Callie starts to have erotic dreams about a man who appears to be made out of shadows and moonlight. The dreams are so vivid that they feel real, right down to her physical state the following morning. Naturally, she says nothing, fearing everyone would think she was crazy. But the more she gets to know her colleagues and neighbours, the more Callie realises there's much more to Fairwick than meets the eye.

This is a fabulous book. It's intriguing, well-written and a real page turner. I'm so pleased that it's part of a series, because I definitely want to read more! Even better, there were some excellent twists and turns that I didn't see coming… always a bonus. So if you're looking for a paranormal thriller with some erotic elements (and it's fairly erotic in places, though far from graphic) then you should definitely check out Incubus.

Sex Toy Review: Rocks Off RO 100mm Soft Tip Bullet

Rocks Off 100mm Soft TipThose lovely folks over at SexToys.co.uk sent me something else to road test – the Rocks Off RO 100mm Soft Tip Bullet. I have to say that its cute and innocent-looking exterior is a lie! This bullet really packs a punch and should be stashed in every girl's bedside cabinet or handbag.

This seriously is a fab gadget. It's discreet, powerful, attractive-looking and a great price. It's not massively loud either so if you're using it when you shouldn't be then you don't need to panic too much! As you can see from the photo, the tip is tapered to quite a small point meaning you can be very precise where you position it so the vibrations go exactly where you need them to.

As well as being great for ladies' alone time, it's also suitable for couple play. It doesn't look at all scary, so the average bloke isn't going to run a mile at the sight of it. With just a little imagination this bullet can be used to spice up all kinds of sexy situations!

The only downside to this toy (and it's a tiny one) is that it takes an 'N' battery, which can be difficult to get hold of. However, it is supplied with one (brownie points to the manufacturer) and if (no, when!) you buy yours from SexToys.co.uk, you can add a couple of spares to your basket for an excellent price. I'd recommend you do too, as when you've started having fun with this toy, you won't want to stop!

eBook Review: The Hand He Dealt by Tanith Davenport

Article first published as eBook Review: The Hand He Dealt by Tanith Davenport on Blogcritics.

The Hand He DealtEven before starting to read this book, everything pointed to 'awesome' for me; the cover, the blurb and the reader advisory on the publisher's website.

Happily, 'awesome' is definitely a word I'd also use to describe the book. From what I can tell, this is Tanith Davenport's debut novel and, based on this one, I will definitely be looking out for more of her releases!

The Hand He Dealt tells the story of Astra Scott. She's a student studying Gaming Management, and her life consists of her studies, her job, her friends, playing guitar, and spending time with her boyfriend, Harry. Things are looking for good for Astra.

This soon changes when Harry drops a bombshell on her, which Astra has no idea how to deal with. That, teamed with her best friend Sasha's boyfriend, Ash, being an idiot to her, and trouble with a work colleague means that Astra's life has suddenly become very complicated. Not one to roll over and take the hits, she decides that relationship-wise, she and Harry should date other people. But when the 'other people' for her ends up being her best friend Sasha, another complication develops – especially when Ash finds out what they've been up to.

The book tells the tale of how Astra deals with all the crap thrown at her, or 'dealing the hand she's been dealt' and comes out of the other side. I don't want to give anything away (and indeed, the information in the review so far is nothing you wouldn't be able to read in the book's blurb), but this book was excellent. It was a delicious mixture of plot, sex, scandal, surprise, tension and did I say sex? ;)

I really enjoyed this read and didn't see the ending coming – which makes for an even better read, in my opinion. There are f/f, strap-on and menage scenes included but they're all integral to the plot. But if this puts you off, the book probably isn't for you. If, however, you believe that the naughtier the better, then this is one erotic novel you should definitely get your hands on. Recommended.

eBook Review: Indecent Proposals by Miranda Forbes (ed.)

Article first published as eBook Review: Indecent Proposals by Miranda Forbes (ed.) on Blogcritics.

Indecent Proposals

As Indecent Proposals contains stories from twenty erotic authors, including popular writers Landon Dixon, Giselle Renarde, Ray Cluley, Eva Hore and Sommer Marsden, I was expecting some seriously hot stuff. I definitely got it.

The thing that first struck me about the book when I'd read a couple of the stories is that it's fairly hardcore. Now, no Xcite read is meek and mild, but the tales in this book definitely live up to its name! There are tales of lesbian love, sex cults, costume parties, rent boys, stocking fetishes and wife swapping; definitely not reads for the faint-hearted! Naturally, I liked some stories more than others, but that's always the way with anthologies. It means there's something for everyone.

Overall, Indecent Proposals is a top notch read. The writing is superb and the stories are so hot that you're in danger of scorching your fingers! So if you're looking for an erotic read which errs on the dark side of BDSM, fetishism and multiple partners, then this is the book for you.

Bite With HeightJudging from the comments last week you all loved my sexy soldier, especially the last line, so I'm going to continue where we left off…

(Just in case you weren't here last week, this is from my new collection, The Best of Lucy Felthouse, which contains five erotic stories previously published in Xcite Books anthologies.)

Ma'am? What the fuck? Did he think I was royalty or something? Hell, who cared, it was damn kinky and this man could call me anything he wanted, whenever he felt like it. He was the most divine creature I'd ever laid eyes on. Your classic tall, dark and handsome sex god.

It's Release Day for Loose Ends!

Loose EndsYay, it's release day for my erotic romance tale, Loose Ends. It's my first release from Summerhouse Publishing, which I'm very excited about. They've been great to work with – I mean, just check out that cover for starters! Yum!

I had really good fun writing this one as it's a mixture of love, lust and humour. I hope it makes you all smile as much as it did me while I was writing it!

Here's the book blurb so you know what it's all about…

When Jonathan and Lauren met at University, it should have been the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Sadly, it wasn't to be, and Jonathan became 'the one that got away.' Years later, at a University reunion, Jonathan shows up unexpectedly throwing Lauren into turmoil. The pair start talking, and soon all the old feelings come back. But will this time be different, or will their mutual affection continue to be unrequited?

It's available now at a bargain price, so check out the book page for a teaser excerpt and the buy links. I can't wait to hear what you think!

Totty Tuesday – James Thornton

James ThorntonHere's another rather obscure Totty Tuesday for you. UK peeps may recognise James Thornton from Holby Blue, and his current role in Emmerdale. If not, does it matter? Look at him! He's a very handsome man, and even more so when he smiles!

He's also another one of the very short list of men that Miss Rebecca Bond and I agree on, so in my eyes that makes him rather special. I basically watch the soap opera Emmerdale because of this guy (and I don't watch much TV), as he plays hunky farmer John Barton. Sadly, since it's set in Yorkshire there's not much call for topless shots, but I can dream, can't I?

Actually… I did. I have a story coming soon in an Xcite anthology which is based on this delicious piece of man flesh. And in the story, naturally, he takes off a lot more than just his top! I'm unsure of the release date of the anthology, but watch this space…
