Guest Blog: Danielle Gavan
Thanks for having me on the blog today, Lucy. I thought it might be nice to share a bit of Brody with readers today. This is a scene that didn't make it into the book.
*****
Left to his own devices for the afternoon, Brody went down to the kitchen to make a late lunch for himself. He gathered everything needed to put together a couple of sandwiches and set it all on the counter.
Footsteps sounded out in the hall and he looked up to see who was coming. Ardeur was out shopping with Remiele; he'd given her strict orders to buy a closet full of clothes and a dresser full of frilly things. He could scratch those two off the list of possibilities.
Before he could continue guessing, Christian stepped into the room. His flaming blue hair, wings and black eyes continually surprised Brody whenever he saw the Fae Prince.
Chris pulled out a stool at the counter and, careful not to crush his wings, sat down. Brody smiled and pointed at his sandwiches.
"Want one?" he asked.
The Fae shook his head. "No, but I'll join you in a beer if you want one?"
"Sure."
Brody put down his knife and turned toward the fridge. He stopped mid-pivot when two beer bottles appeared on the counter.
"I keep forgetting you guys can do stuff like that," he chuckled.
"It's useful," Christian said. "Where's your lass?"
Finished with putting his sandwiches together, Brody put the dirty knife in the sink and looked across the counter at Christian.
"She's out shopping," he replied. Taking a sip of his beer, Brody contemplated the other man for a moment. "Can I ask your thoughts on something? It's kinda personal so, I understand if you don't feel comfortable."
Chris twisted the cap off his beer and nodded. "Sure. What's going on? Problems with Ardy?"
Taking a deep breath, Brody nodded and decided to come clean with his problem. Maybe, between the two of them, he could help his sorry ass out. Someone had to before he lost control and fucked up the one relationship he'd wanted more than any other.
"More like trying to keep out of her pants," he started. "Well, trying to keep her out of mine, as well. I want the chance to court her first. She deserves that much."
"I admire you for that, my friend," Chris replied. He took a sip of his beer and continued, "Ardy—Ardy's a good girl. She deserves to be courted and treated with respect."
Brody looked down at his lunch and took another sip of his drink. His thoughts turned to Ardeur as they always did lately. The sweet sound of her laugh, the sexy curve of her lower lip or the adorable way she snuggled into his chest when she slept; everything he loved about her was permanently etched onto his brain.
"I appreciate your respect for me on that but I don't deserve it. I do it for her. I respect her." He ran his free hand over his face. "Hell, she's still a virgin and I'm—shit." Brody exhaled and looked up at Chris. "I love her. She's so pure and innocent, but she's got this back bone and…. How can you not appreciate something like that, you know?"
The Fae prince nodded.
"My sister's mate went through the same thing. Iona was a virgin when they met. Anyway," he waved away the topic. "Push came to shove and she found out that Soren was her intended. He's dealing with some of his own issues. So, I'll tell you the same thing I told him.
"If we're lucky enough to find a man or woman that loves us beyond all the bullshit and baggage, who the hell are we to shove it away? Tate is the best damn thing to happen to me. I can say without a doubt, the same holds true for you and Ardeur."
Thinking about what Christian had said, Brody felt a weight lift from his shoulders.
"Any ideas how to make it right for her?" he asked, staring into his beer as if it held the secrets of the universe.
The fairy shook his head. "I wish I did. Let her make the call. If she feels like she's ready, then she's ready. If not, then love her. Ardy's a smart woman. She's got brains behind all that body and she uses them. Stop fighting and just roll with it." He smiled and shrugged. "Listen. You can't stop a freight train, my friend. If you two are supposed to be together, it's going to happen. Just remember to enjoy the getting there process too."
Brody sighed deeply and leaned on the counter.
"I'm scared to death of hurting her," he said. Finishing off his beer, he turned his head toward Christian. "And I don't mean in the emotional sense. I mean physically. She's so fucking petite. I'm scared I'll break her."
He squeezed out the last bit before lowering his forehead to the counter between his elbows.
"I get that. Sort of," the Fae laughed." Brody looked up at the other man and raised an eyebrow. "I'm Tate's first male lover. As tough as he is, I still panic that I'll do something to freak him out and he'll leave, but he never fails to surprise me. He and Ardy are similar in that manner. I don't think she'll have a problem telling you if she's hurt. She may just surprise you. Ardy's a lot tougher than you give her credit for, lad."
Nodding, Brody finally picked up a sandwich half and studied the layers of ham, lettuce and cheese. He took a bite and chewed half-heartedly. Christian spun his bottle cap around on the countertop.
"The whole breaking her thing is a moot point anyway," the Fae said, breaking the silence. "She's an Angel and, from what I hear, they're pretty damn hard to break."
Brody snorted, swallowed and then broke into full out laughter. He shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"Smartass," he laughed. "But thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to ease my mind."
A car door slammed outside and Ardy's sexy chuckle floated in on the breeze. Gods above and below, the sound of her laugh was enough to make him stand up and salute; damn him, but it was all he could do not to run out and haul her upstairs.
Christian drained his beer and stood.
"Looks like the girls are back. I'll leave you to welcome your love home and go see if Tate's back."
"You're not going to hang around and see what they bought?" Brody teased. "Rumor has it you've got a thing for Loubou-whatever's."
"Louboutin's," Chris retorted. "I do, but I don't feel like spending hours watching a fashion show today. Not when I could spend them undressing my sexy angel instead. I'll see you later."
Brody chuckled and nodded. "Sure. Have fun."
The big Fae grinned, winked and disappeared seconds before Remi strutted in with Ardy close behind. Both women were laden down with bags emblazoned with fancy designer names he didn't recognize.
"You girls have fun?" he asked.
Ardeur smiled widely, dropped her bags and flew into his arms. "We did. You should see the places she took me, baby. I felt like Vivian in Pretty Woman. It was amazing."
Remiele spoke up from behind them. "She got everything you asked me to make sure she picked up, Brody. You may have to give up part of your closet space to fit it all in there." She grinned at him, "There are more bags upstairs, by the way. I shimmered them in for you, Ardy."
"Okay. Thanks."
Brody cupped Ardeur's backside and held her tight against him. He cast a quick glance at Remiele's retreating back.
"Thanks," he said. "I owe you."
"It was my pleasure," she replied and called out "Enjoy the fashion show," as she left the room.
Tucking a curl behind her ear, Brody studied Ardy's face for a moment. He debated how he was going to resist her delectable curves long enough to see what she'd bought. Crap.
"I'm so screwed," he muttered.
Ardy looked at him in surprise. "What?"
He gave her a nervous smile, "Nothing. Um, come on. Let's go upstairs and you can show me what you got."
The next couple of hours would be torture, he knew; for her—he'd deal with it and gladly.

eBook Review: Ardeur by Danielle Gavan
Article first published as eBook Review: Ardeur by Danielle Gavan on Blogcritics.
Ardeur is the story of Ardeur Lisle. She's never had a normal life. Ever since she was a small child, her parents knew there was something different about her, and shunned her. Then, years later she was sold to evil people who summoned a demon to inhabit her body and trained her to be a killer for hire. As a necromancer, Ardeur has powers of her own and plots to escape from her captors and rid herself of the evil demon inside her. After that, she plans to seek out the one person who ever showed her any kindness.
Brody Callaghan is that person, and it turns out he's never forgotten Ardeur, either. Brody hasn't exactly lived a normal life and always sensed Ardeur was different. But will the two manage to overcome their own obstacles in order to seek each other out? And what will happen if they do?
Overall, I thought Ardeur was a great book. It's not perfect, but it is very good. The beginning took a little while to get going, in my opinion, but once I worked out where it was going, I was hooked. The few minor editing errors didn't mar my reading experience too much, because once I got into the storyline I couldn't stop turning pages to find out what happened next.
This is a compelling, exciting and in places a very sensual and sexy read. I'd definitely recommend it to paranormal romance fans, especially if you like a bit of sex thrown into your stories

Whee! Awesome Reviews for Loose Ends and Naughty Delivery
Just as I was starting to flag today, I had two awesome reviews come through and make me happy dance! In brief, here they are:
Loose Ends
"A lovely tale that has history and a future with characters who are not strangers, making it all the more believable and emotional when they finally get it together. I wanted more but I was happy with the outcome, it was after all just a peep into Lauren's life, one very sexy peep on one very hot night of her life." 5 out of 5, Happily Ever After Reviews
Naughty Delivery
"The sex scenes are fantastically smutty, no detail is too graphic for this writer and I do enjoy the plethora of emotional/physical detail Lucy Felthouse goes into; it certainly does cause a certain amount of heat to develop under the collar!" 4 out of 5, Scorching Book Reviews

Totty Tuesday – Alexis Denisof
So… my Angel watching continues. And lately I have increasingly been noticing the charms of Wesley Wyndam-Pryce (gotta love that name, it's so faux British posh), played by Alexis Denisof. He's an ex-Watcher which naturally means he's an uber-geek with a posh British accent who reads lots of books. So naturally, I think he's hot. I mean, what's not to love? Sure, he's a little wimpy and seems to get beaten up more than the others… but he's super intelligent and he loves books! Hurrah for the books!
On my usual IMDB scout of Totty Tuesday nominees, I discovered some very interesting things about Alexis. For example, I had no idea that he's married to Alyson Hannigan, who plays Willow in Buffy/Angel. They're all loved up and have a baby and stuff. Aww…
Thus concludes this week's Totty Tuesday. I will now leave you to look at this picture of Wesley being all bookish, geeky, intelligent and sarcastic. Enjoy.

A Slew of Awesome Reviews!

It seems the book bloggers have been incredibly busy this weekend! My inbox has been graced with five awesome reviews, so naturally I am ecstatic. Here's what they had to say (click on the book titles to see more info about them):
"…seriously sexy, well-written pieces of erotic sensuality, the kind that I can read over and over again and still find arousing… The uniforms in this collection are fun sexual devices–after all, who doesn't love a hot fireman or a sexy cleaning lady?–but they're more than that. In the best stories in this book, the uniforms become things to hide in and things to escape from. They become about identity and relating and worldview. They become about experiences, life-stories and lusts. And most of all, they become about the desires of the very real characters who wear them." 4-Letter Words
"I loved that there was variety in the stories, everything from police officers to wait staff. The stories may have been short but they were definitely sexy and fun. Overall I enjoyed this collection of stories and give Uniform Behavior 4 Flaming Hearts." Heather's Musings
"A Bit of Rough by Lucy Felthouse was unbelievably hot and steamy. I thought how honest Allison was about what exactly she wanted. The male character was written perfectly – he is exactly how I imagine "bad boys" to be. Anyone who enjoys the erotic romance genre should read any or all of Lucy Felthouse's stories." All Things Books
"Succubus Comes Home by Lucy Felthouse was a very exciting story. I loved how the author blended the paranormal/supernatural with erotic romance. I find myself enjoying each story by Lucy Felthouse more than the last but I must say that this is by far my favorite one yet." All Things Books
"The Best of Lucy Felthouse is a collection of five short stories that are all a must read for fans of erotic romance. My favorite out of the five shorts was Fantasy Assignment because you can't go wrong with a hot man in a military uniform. The story with the female was student who was fantasizing over a male classmate was so believable that I didn't even know it was all happening in the female character's head until the end." All Things Books
An Independent Bookshop with a Unique Twist…
As most of you know (and if you didn't, you do now), I'm a lover of bookshops. Big, small, chain, independent, it doesn't matter to me, I just love to go in and have a look around and soak up the atmosphere – not to mention the yummy new book smell.
So when I read some press about a canal boat/barge which was a bookshop, I was intrigued. What a fantastic and completely unique idea – books on a boat! I found The Book Barge on Facebook and began checking every now and again to see when they would be close enough to where I live to go and visit. And yesterday was the day… they were going to be in Kidderminster. Not particularly close, but close enough, and there was a National Trust property nearby that we wanted to visit anyway, so we could kill two birds with one stone.
Unfortunately, The Book Barge couldn't moor up in Kidderminster so they floated north to Kinver, changing our plans slightly (it turned out to be a completely positive change of plan, we visited a different National Trust place which was awesome!). Anyway, we finally ended up in the same place at the same time and The Book Barge was every bit as cool as I expected. I spent a lot of time chatting with Sarah, the owner, and found out more about the shop and what it was about. The boat is currently nearing the end of a six month jaunt around the UK (follow the Facebook and Twitter feeds to find out when it's going to be near you), spreading the word about independent bookselling. As well as getting hold of books in the traditional fashion, i.e. in exchange for money, Sarah is also 'swapping' books for essentials – i.e. the use of a washing machine or hot shower, accommodation and food – so bear that in mind if the barge is headed your way!
Excitingly for me, Sarah was well open to the idea of stocking erotica (I actually spotted an erotic book while I was there!) and even hosting readings and signings. No doubt we'll be exchanging ideas over the coming weeks, so watch this space! I also dropped off some postcards and bookmarks, so if The Book Barge is in your area please pop in, buy (or exchange something for) a book and grab yourself a bookmark and some postcards!
If you want to find out more about The Book Barge, check out the website, Facebook and Twitter. And if you happen to visit, tell Sarah I sent you!

Lilith
The Original Housewife
"Lilith is the wife who flew off in a rage, but whose scent won't wash off the sheets." (Burton, 28)
Sure, the Real Housewives of Orange County or New Jersey, or whatever hotspot garners attention may be the rage, but the scandal started with the original housewife, Lilith.
Lilith is a controversial figure: some believe in this supposed first woman before Eve, some have never heard of her and yet others have vilified her into a creature of seduction and evil. References of Lilith are infused throughout our culture, such as the Lilith Faire, an all-day music fest that features female performers, or the character "Lilith," Frasier's ex-wife on the television sitcom Frasier.
Once I started looking, Lilith was everywhere, such as poetry like Enid Dame's "Lilith" and in literature, and she's depicted in classic marble statues. For someone who doesn't exist, she sure has been around for a long time.
At the heart of Lilith's tale is the fact that she refused to be "sexually submissive" to Adam. Because of her willful nature, Lilith was cast out of the Garden of Eden, and replaced with Eve. Lilith has become somewhat of an icon to the feminist movement because she doesn't submit to Adam.
Rather than Eve, who has the misfortune of being saddled with the downfall of womankind, Lilith takes control of her own future and refuses to bow to Adam.
The short story "Lilith: In Her Garden" takes a glimpse of the relationship between this first woman, and the first man, Adam. Perfectly crafted for an erotic BDSM tale, how does Adam try to subdue Lilith, and ultimately, how does she flip the binds and teach Adam a lesson?
Here's hoping that the tale makes readers think, and gets them hot. What a combination!
Ciao!

Six Sentence Sunday – 11/9/11
Following on directly from last week, these six sentences come from my story, Down by the Pool, which appears in the anthology I just edited and released, Seducing the Myth. More info here.
Also, to comment on this post, it's the link at the top ^^ – not the bottom. Thanks guys!
And nor did the silence.
Part of me was glad no one was around. Some of my more unusual journalistic investigations had, in the past, caused people to come and ask what I was doing. My responses, as I never saw any reason to lie, inevitably prompted a barrage of further questions. This meant I then had to find a way of extricating myself from the conversation so I could get on with my work. Not being the most forceful of fellows, I always find it difficult.
