eBook Review: Holly's Intuition by Saskia Walker
Article first published as eBook Review: Holly's Intuition by Saskia Walker on Blogcritics.
Holly's Intuition is the second book in the Erogenous Zones Series by Saskia Walker. I reviewed the first, Monica's Secret, here.
This book can be read as a standalone, in my opinion, but you'll have more idea of what certain references mean if you've read the first one, so I'd recommend it.
This story tells the tale of Holly. One day, her neighbour, Joshua has an accident and she rushes to his aid. It's not a fatal accident and since it happened, Holly has had some kind of psychic connection with him. Confused and overwhelmed, Holly says nothing to him, but confides in her sisters, both of whom also have psychic abilities.
The worst thing about Holly's connection with Josh is that it only seems to be activated when he's have a rush of emotion; happiness, stress… or arousal. The result is her being able to see everything Josh is getting up to sexually, including having sex with the guy Holly thought was his flatmate. She quickly realises that they're a lot more than just flatmates.
Both guys are incredibly attractive, and Holly can't help but get aroused by the visions that fill her head, to the extent that she's soon wishing she was sandwiched between them, being pleasured by both. It drives her crazy with both lust and confusion about why this has happened to her, and she has no idea what to do about it.
On the other side of the wall, Josh and his boyfriend Stewart have no idea that Holly is inadvertently watching their sex life. They have other things on their mind. Since recovering from the accident, Joshua is now feeling increasing pressure to 'out' himself to his family. A few short months ago Joshua had a girlfriend and no idea he liked men. All that changed when Stewart came along and despite knowing his feelings for Stewart, Josh is still incredibly conflicted and confused about his sexuality.
Stewart, on the other hand is openly bisexual and very happy and comfortable with his sexuality. To further confuse matters, both men are attracted to Holly and after a conversation, the boys decide to invite her over for dinner, completely oblivious to the fact that through her connection to Josh, she knows intimate details of their lives.
Holly accepts the dinner invitation, and immediately regrets it. She finds both men incredibly attractive and has seen them in very compromising positions. Also, the closer physically she is to Josh, the more she can sense his emotions. Holly's playing with fire but can't figure out a way to get out of it without upsetting someone.
The dinner party both complicates things and excites all three of them until they end up falling into a hot threesome. Holly's confused to find that both men want her, as well as one another. What started as a hot threesome quickly scares and confuses Holly – she has no intention of coming between the couple and doesn't want to get hurt herself.
What will she do next? Only one way to find out…
Wow – this is one hot book! Holly's Intuition is the perfect mix of sexiness, character development and plot. I loved all three main characters and enjoyed how the story progressed. Sadly, it had to end, but I'm definitely living in hope that Ms. Walker will revisit these three at some point in the future! A brilliant read and one I'd recommend to erotica fans, particularly if you like m/m/f threesome tales.

It's So Nice to Feel Normal…
…this was one of the comments I made on Saturday evening while sitting in a London branch of Pizza Express. On Saturday, a reading took place in Sh! Hoxton (where I will be reading with Kay Jaybee in a few short weeks). There's always a great time to be had at Sh! but this event was unique because we had a US visitor – Rachel Kramer Bussel. The reading included several of her latest books and the authors appearing in them. I wasn't a reader on this occasion – just an avid listener. However, it was quite the star-studded evening. Readers included:
Rachel Kramer Bussel
K D Grace
Kay Jaybee
Carmel Lockyer
Janine Ashbless
Jacqueline Applebee
Justine Elyot
Rachel did an introduction, then each reader did their piece in turn, with a break in the middle. Rachel concluded with another story and a Q&A – then it was signing time! I'd lugged several books down to London with me and got in the queue, where I also had a nice chat with Rachel. I also got my copies of The Business of Pleasure and On Demand signed by Justine Elyot, who I was delighted to meet for the first (and hopefully not the last!) time.
It was a fab evening and I was happy to also meet Suzanne Portnoy in the flesh, though I didn't get chance to chat to Janine Ashbless, Rubyyy Jones, Scarlett French or Jacqueline Applebee, which was a real shame. There was just so many people around!
After the reading, however, there was more fun to be had. Myself, Victoria Blisse, K D Grace, Miss Rebecca Bond, Parv Roopray (not a writer, but a lovely attendee and fab photographer), Lexie Bay and her lovely hubby, Kay Jaybee and Justine Elyot and her lovely hubby headed off to Pizza Express. Not the most glamorous of locations, I'll admit, but myself and a certain Ms. Bay are fussy eaters!
We piled in and were looked after well by the staff. Drink was drunk, food was munched, and lots of odd conversation took place. This is where the comment about feeling normal came in! After chatting with everyone about various things, both writing related and non – I realised we're a fairly random bunch. What other dinner party would talk about baking, BDSM, hot celebrities (Chris Hemsworth, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy, if you're interested), editors, UK/US spelling, geeky films, travel and turtles in one evening!? I've no idea if our fellow diners could hear us, or what they thought – but we were too busy giggling to notice!
Sadly – as with all good things – the evening had to come to an end. We all went our separate ways and I embarked on a hellish bus journey with Miss Bond and Miss Roopray, which I would not like to repeat. However, it wasn't all bad. I got a story idea out of it!
All in all I had an awesome – if tiring – weekend. It was soooo unbelievably cool to spend time with writers that I respect, enjoy reading and can also consider my friends. I feel very lucky to have a bunch of such fun and interesting friends. It's just a shame we can't meet face-to-face more often
Thanks for a wonderful weekend, everyone. And special thanks go to Miss Rebecca Bond for letting me crash at hers, and The Boy for being so incredibly well trained!

Six Sentence Sunday – 3/7/11
Ok, this really is the last little bit of Bite With Height that I'm sharing on Six Sentence Sunday. I'll move onto something else next time! Again, this follows on directly from last time.
The area was an attraction, a bit of fun. For others, it was much more. Attacks on working girls were not uncommon, or at least, they hadn't been. The crime rates had dropped dramatically since Meg had moved to the area. Nobody, much less the police, knew why. And Meg didn't intend for them to find out.

Another Brilliant Review for The Best Of…
The lovely Mitnik of SexyReads.co.uk has been at it again! He read and reviewed my latest erotica release, The Best of Lucy Felthouse, and I think he liked it! Each tale got varying star ratings, but they were all pretty good so I'm happy with that. The overall score for the anthology was 4 out of 5, which I'm certainly happy with!
Mitnik commented:
"A wonderful collection of very different tales that will warm those spots other anthologies cannot reach. This is definitely one you need in your collection, a real treat not to be missed!"
Check out the full review here.
The book is slowly being rolled out to retailers – it arrived on BookStrand today and I keep checking Amazon Kindle but it's not there yet. Hopefully soon. In the meantime, check here for an up to date list of retailers.
Readings and Reviews
Leicester Library was the place to be yesterday as there was an evening of smut! Yes, C. Margery Kempe and I took to the floor to read erotica in a library. Due to (we suspect) some prudish people not passing on information, the crowd was not large, but it was attentive – and you can't ask for more than that!
Hoping to give myself some time to get over the nerves, I let (read: made) C. Margery read first. She entertained us with an excerpt from her erotic spy thriller novel, Chastity Flame. The fabulous humour and naughtiness had the audience eating from the palm of her hand and I must confess that the book has definitely made its way higher up my to be read list having heard juicy excerpts.
Next, I raised a few sniggers myself by reading a snippet from Fantasy Assignment, which features in my recently released collection, The Best of Lucy Felthouse. In my quest to avoid saying too many naughty words in public I read the introduction and stopped just before it got too saucy, but I'm hoping it left the story at enough of a cliffhanger that the listeners will go and search up the book to find out what happens next! I did, of course, reassure the audience that there was plenty of erotic action in the rest of the book.
A passage from fairy tale retelling Love Me Like A Reptile came next from Ms. Kempe. Another hilarious snippet of a story which raised some very odd questions about frogs during the Q&A…
We hadn't planned it, but following C Margery's paranormal tale was one of my paranormal tales, Bite With Height. I read the introduction to this f/f erotic romance tale set in Paris. I then left the audience on another cliffhanger.
A Q&A session followed – and the best part is it was all podcasted by the lovely Adele of Un:Bound Blogzine, who also arranged the whole evening – so a big thank you to her!
So as soon as I receive the file/s, I'll be able to include here so you can have a listen for yourselves. But rest assured there was odd conversation about frogs, paranormal writing, getting turned on while writing and much more…
On another topic, I had the first review in this morning for The Best of Lucy Felthouse, and it's a good 'un! Sizzling Hot Books gave it a four out of five score, and commented:
"Overall, The Best of Lucy Felthouse is a great read. It has five stories all in different areas. It offers every reader a different tale of seduction or erotica. I would recommend The Best of Lucy Felthouse to erotica readers. Fans of Lucy's won't be disappointed with The Best of Lucy Felthouse."
I'm happy with that!
Book Review: Carnal Machines – Steampunk Erotica by D. L. King (ed.)
Article first published as Book Review: Carnal Machines: Steampunk Erotica Edited by D. L. King on Blogcritics.
I had no idea what to expect when I picked up Carnal Machines. I confess that before reading the foreword, I wasn't 100% sure what steampunk was – though it turned out that I was pretty much right in my thinking. And for those of you that don't know, in brief the genre is stories based in the Victorian era with an emphasis on inventions and machinery, i.e. steam-powered.
Now that's cleared up, on to the review…
When I started reading Carnal Machines I quickly realised that the title was very literal. I knew that the machinery would be involved, obviously, but I wasn't expecting, well, sex machines. There are naughty gadgets left, right and centre in this book – it's a Victorian version of a sex toy shop!
The book really captures what it was to be alive in Victorian times – worried about being proper, sullied reputations – and sex. Carnal Machines takes what we know about that repressed time and flings open the doors. It's always been hinted that the Victorians were in fact sex mad, probably due to the 'forbidden' nature of the act, and this anthology really plays on that. You can almost imagine yourself being transported back to a simpler time where polite society frowned upon naughtiness, so people did it in secret.
There are tales about the curing of hysterical women, using sexual energy to power machines, steam powered strap ons and much more. It's a really good fun, well written anthology which is completely different to anything I've ever read before.
One of my favourite stories was Doctor Watson Makes A House Call, purely because I'm a fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories and thought this was a brilliant take on it. The very idea of the supposedly prim and proper Watson using sexual aids on a woman to 'cure' her was excellent.
So, if you're looking something sexy and very different, look no further. Carnal Machines is a decadent and unique read that's well worth adding to your to be read list.

Totty Tuesday: Sébastien Chabal
No, before you ask, I have not lost my mind. Here we have this week's Totty Tuesday, Sébastien Chabal, a French rugby player. Never let it be said that I do not keep promises!
It is a rare occasion on which Miss Rebecca Bond and I agree on a man (though she is a recent convert to Team Jared – WIN!) and this um, man, right here has been a particular bone of contention. Miss Bond has been desperately trying to recruit me into his fan club and so far, has failed dismally. Every Totty Tuesday she has waited hopefully for Mr Chabal to pop up on my website, and has been disappointed. Every Totty Tuesday she has threatened not to give up her quest to see him grace the pages of this very website. Finally, I agreed to feature him, as long as Miss Bond could find a photo of him that didn't chill me to the very core. And voila – this photo is now gracing my Facebook wall (that lucky, lucky wall!).
Now, I still wouldn't, but I do finally get it… I think. At least he looks like he's showered recently in this photo (you should see some of the shockers Miss Bond has sent me!). And he does have quite a nice tattoo on his leg. But let's just say my top five hot men are still quite safe in their positions.
Now, have at it! Whaddya think to this one? Is Miss Bond alone in her lustings? Or do some of you covet the Chabal? Let us know in the comments…
P.S. Miss Bond also promised to stop spamming me with photos of him when I did this. She'd better keep that promise
eBook Review: By the Book by Scarlett Parrish
Article first published as eBook Review: By the Book by Scarlett Parrish on Blogcritics.
By the Book is the first piece I've read by Scarlett Parrish. I've seen it, and its characters, discussed a lot online and finally curiosity got the better of me. As soon as I started reading I knew I'd have trouble putting it down until I was done. The book shoves you right into the middle of the action and doesn't let up.
By the Book tells the story of Reece Hutton, a librarian who is far from vanilla. He may seem a quiet mousy man by day, but his sexual relationship with his girlfriend is far from typical. They often invite both men and women into bed with them, but as a straight guy, Reece only ever plays with the girls. Until Daniel comes along, that is…
The day Daniel Cross walks into the library that Reece works in, everything changes. Reece is baffled to find he's attracted to the guylinered writer, and what's more, Daniel seems to be interested in him, too. Pushing his thoughts and feelings aside, Reece thinks that Daniel would be an interesting third for their bedroom activities. After meeting him, his girlfriend Georgia does, too.
Following their first sexual encounter as a threesome, whereby both men play with Georgia, but not one another, Georgia is eager to repeat the experience. Reece, however, is terrified. It seems his attraction isn't temporary and he's thrown into utter turmoil – he wants both Georgia and Daniel in equal measure, but will they all agree to a more permanent arrangement?
As I mentioned, this is the first book by Parrish that I've read, and it's also the first m/m erotic romance. It was refreshing to read something so different and it was so brilliantly written that I was reading like a maniac to find out what happened next.
I'll be honest, after hearing other people's opinions I was expecting to end up being quite the fan of Daniel. But it was actually Reece that kept my attention. His struggle with coming to terms with his bisexuality, his awkwardness and his fear, was just endearing and I found myself desperately hoping it would all work out for him in the end. Of course, I'm not going to give anything away about that, but let's just say I would like to read more about Reece and friends.
Overall – a damn hot read. This has steamy sex and a brilliant storyline as well as humour in spades. If contemporary menage is your thing, add By the Book to your to be read pile, pronto.

Victoria Blisse's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration
I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Victoria Blisse, author of Dirty Deeds tells us where the idea came from for her awesome story…
Over to Victoria:
Inspiration is a fickle thing and when I first saw Lucy's call for submissions for Uniform Behaviour I knew I wanted to submit something but no ideas jumped to mind.
I am probably the exception in the group of writers for this particular anthology in that most of the usual uniforms don't do much for me. I'm not into police, firemen or army uniforms and so I knew I had to find something a little unusual to catch my attention.
So I sat down with my husband (he's good to me, he really is) going through lists of uniforms. We must have mentioned just about every one going. Traffic warden, waiter, shop assistant, crossing guard and as we're talking through and I'm disregarding each one something just popped into my mind.
"Cleaner!" I exclaimed and the Dirty Deeds idea was formed, though I wrote the whole story before the title came to mind! I liked the idea of taking something as ugly and frumpy as a tabbard and turning it into something sexy and alluring. I do like to surprise people with my writing and I like to make them laugh. I hope I managed both with Dirty Deeds.
