Readings and Reviews
Leicester Library was the place to be yesterday as there was an evening of smut! Yes, C. Margery Kempe and I took to the floor to read erotica in a library. Due to (we suspect) some prudish people not passing on information, the crowd was not large, but it was attentive – and you can't ask for more than that!
Hoping to give myself some time to get over the nerves, I let (read: made) C. Margery read first. She entertained us with an excerpt from her erotic spy thriller novel, Chastity Flame. The fabulous humour and naughtiness had the audience eating from the palm of her hand and I must confess that the book has definitely made its way higher up my to be read list having heard juicy excerpts.
Next, I raised a few sniggers myself by reading a snippet from Fantasy Assignment, which features in my recently released collection, The Best of Lucy Felthouse. In my quest to avoid saying too many naughty words in public I read the introduction and stopped just before it got too saucy, but I'm hoping it left the story at enough of a cliffhanger that the listeners will go and search up the book to find out what happens next! I did, of course, reassure the audience that there was plenty of erotic action in the rest of the book.
A passage from fairy tale retelling Love Me Like A Reptile came next from Ms. Kempe. Another hilarious snippet of a story which raised some very odd questions about frogs during the Q&A…
We hadn't planned it, but following C Margery's paranormal tale was one of my paranormal tales, Bite With Height. I read the introduction to this f/f erotic romance tale set in Paris. I then left the audience on another cliffhanger.
A Q&A session followed – and the best part is it was all podcasted by the lovely Adele of Un:Bound Blogzine, who also arranged the whole evening – so a big thank you to her! So as soon as I receive the file/s, I'll be able to include here so you can have a listen for yourselves. But rest assured there was odd conversation about frogs, paranormal writing, getting turned on while writing and much more…
On another topic, I had the first review in this morning for The Best of Lucy Felthouse, and it's a good 'un! Sizzling Hot Books gave it a four out of five score, and commented:
"Overall, The Best of Lucy Felthouse is a great read. It has five stories all in different areas. It offers every reader a different tale of seduction or erotica. I would recommend The Best of Lucy Felthouse to erotica readers. Fans of Lucy's won't be disappointed with The Best of Lucy Felthouse."
I'm happy with that!

Book Review: Carnal Machines – Steampunk Erotica by D. L. King (ed.)
Article first published as Book Review: Carnal Machines: Steampunk Erotica Edited by D. L. King on Blogcritics.
I had no idea what to expect when I picked up Carnal Machines. I confess that before reading the foreword, I wasn't 100% sure what steampunk was – though it turned out that I was pretty much right in my thinking. And for those of you that don't know, in brief the genre is stories based in the Victorian era with an emphasis on inventions and machinery, i.e. steam-powered.
Now that's cleared up, on to the review…
When I started reading Carnal Machines I quickly realised that the title was very literal. I knew that the machinery would be involved, obviously, but I wasn't expecting, well, sex machines. There are naughty gadgets left, right and centre in this book – it's a Victorian version of a sex toy shop!
The book really captures what it was to be alive in Victorian times – worried about being proper, sullied reputations – and sex. Carnal Machines takes what we know about that repressed time and flings open the doors. It's always been hinted that the Victorians were in fact sex mad, probably due to the 'forbidden' nature of the act, and this anthology really plays on that. You can almost imagine yourself being transported back to a simpler time where polite society frowned upon naughtiness, so people did it in secret.
There are tales about the curing of hysterical women, using sexual energy to power machines, steam powered strap ons and much more. It's a really good fun, well written anthology which is completely different to anything I've ever read before.
One of my favourite stories was Doctor Watson Makes A House Call, purely because I'm a fan of the Sherlock Holmes stories and thought this was a brilliant take on it. The very idea of the supposedly prim and proper Watson using sexual aids on a woman to 'cure' her was excellent.
So, if you're looking something sexy and very different, look no further. Carnal Machines is a decadent and unique read that's well worth adding to your to be read list.

Totty Tuesday: Sébastien Chabal
No, before you ask, I have not lost my mind. Here we have this week's Totty Tuesday, Sébastien Chabal, a French rugby player. Never let it be said that I do not keep promises!
It is a rare occasion on which Miss Rebecca Bond and I agree on a man (though she is a recent convert to Team Jared – WIN!) and this um, man, right here has been a particular bone of contention. Miss Bond has been desperately trying to recruit me into his fan club and so far, has failed dismally. Every Totty Tuesday she has waited hopefully for Mr Chabal to pop up on my website, and has been disappointed. Every Totty Tuesday she has threatened not to give up her quest to see him grace the pages of this very website. Finally, I agreed to feature him, as long as Miss Bond could find a photo of him that didn't chill me to the very core. And voila – this photo is now gracing my Facebook wall (that lucky, lucky wall!).
Now, I still wouldn't, but I do finally get it… I think. At least he looks like he's showered recently in this photo (you should see some of the shockers Miss Bond has sent me!). And he does have quite a nice tattoo on his leg. But let's just say my top five hot men are still quite safe in their positions.
Now, have at it! Whaddya think to this one? Is Miss Bond alone in her lustings? Or do some of you covet the Chabal? Let us know in the comments…
P.S. Miss Bond also promised to stop spamming me with photos of him when I did this. She'd better keep that promise

eBook Review: By the Book by Scarlett Parrish
Article first published as eBook Review: By the Book by Scarlett Parrish on Blogcritics.
By the Book is the first piece I've read by Scarlett Parrish. I've seen it, and its characters, discussed a lot online and finally curiosity got the better of me. As soon as I started reading I knew I'd have trouble putting it down until I was done. The book shoves you right into the middle of the action and doesn't let up.
By the Book tells the story of Reece Hutton, a librarian who is far from vanilla. He may seem a quiet mousy man by day, but his sexual relationship with his girlfriend is far from typical. They often invite both men and women into bed with them, but as a straight guy, Reece only ever plays with the girls. Until Daniel comes along, that is…
The day Daniel Cross walks into the library that Reece works in, everything changes. Reece is baffled to find he's attracted to the guylinered writer, and what's more, Daniel seems to be interested in him, too. Pushing his thoughts and feelings aside, Reece thinks that Daniel would be an interesting third for their bedroom activities. After meeting him, his girlfriend Georgia does, too.
Following their first sexual encounter as a threesome, whereby both men play with Georgia, but not one another, Georgia is eager to repeat the experience. Reece, however, is terrified. It seems his attraction isn't temporary and he's thrown into utter turmoil – he wants both Georgia and Daniel in equal measure, but will they all agree to a more permanent arrangement?
As I mentioned, this is the first book by Parrish that I've read, and it's also the first m/m erotic romance. It was refreshing to read something so different and it was so brilliantly written that I was reading like a maniac to find out what happened next.
I'll be honest, after hearing other people's opinions I was expecting to end up being quite the fan of Daniel. But it was actually Reece that kept my attention. His struggle with coming to terms with his bisexuality, his awkwardness and his fear, was just endearing and I found myself desperately hoping it would all work out for him in the end. Of course, I'm not going to give anything away about that, but let's just say I would like to read more about Reece and friends.
Overall – a damn hot read. This has steamy sex and a brilliant storyline as well as humour in spades. If contemporary menage is your thing, add By the Book to your to be read pile, pronto.

Victoria Blisse's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration
I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Victoria Blisse, author of Dirty Deeds tells us where the idea came from for her awesome story…
Over to Victoria:
Inspiration is a fickle thing and when I first saw Lucy's call for submissions for Uniform Behaviour I knew I wanted to submit something but no ideas jumped to mind.
I am probably the exception in the group of writers for this particular anthology in that most of the usual uniforms don't do much for me. I'm not into police, firemen or army uniforms and so I knew I had to find something a little unusual to catch my attention.
So I sat down with my husband (he's good to me, he really is) going through lists of uniforms. We must have mentioned just about every one going. Traffic warden, waiter, shop assistant, crossing guard and as we're talking through and I'm disregarding each one something just popped into my mind.
"Cleaner!" I exclaimed and the Dirty Deeds idea was formed, though I wrote the whole story before the title came to mind! I liked the idea of taking something as ugly and frumpy as a tabbard and turning it into something sexy and alluring. I do like to surprise people with my writing and I like to make them laugh. I hope I managed both with Dirty Deeds.

Justine Elyot's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration
I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Justine Elyot, author of Guard Mounting tells us where the idea came from for her awesome story…
Over to Justine:
Guards!
They're changing the guard at Buckingham Palace
Christopher Robin went down with Alice…
There's no sign of Christopher Robin in my Uniform Behaviour story (thank goodness, because that would be weird) but the Buckingham Palace guard is strongly represented.
Its representative is Greg, a man in a bearskin hat and a red jacket who spends a lot of time standing stock still with a rifle lined up with the right side of his body. There's nothing complicated or profound about the inspiration for Guard Mounting. Ever since my first childhood encounter with those impassive presences along Whitehall and outside the Queen's gaff I've wondered exactly what it would take to rumple their composure. And the heroine of my story has the same preoccupation. And a plan…
Here's a tiny snippet:
I heard him marching down the wood-floored hall, his steps quick but heavy and for a wild moment I wondered if he'd brought a gun. But when the door opened, no weapon could be seen, just six broad feet of uniformed soldier, topped with the mad bearskin hat so tall he had to duck to get under the frame.
I couldn't see his eyes, so I could only gauge his reaction to my state of semi-undress by looking at his lower face. His mouth was stretched in a thin, clean line, just as if he were on duty, and his facial muscles betrayed nothing at all. It was impressive. He really was well trained. Exactly how well trained remained to be seen.
"So," I mused, putting a finger to my lip. "Can I resist a man in uniform?"
"Any conclusions yet?" he asked, smirking and relaxing his pose.
"I think I need to carry out some tests," I told him. "Why don't you go and stand against the wall and pretend you're on duty. I want to see if I can force a reaction from you. Go on then. You're on duty, and I'm a tourist."
"I've seen a lot, Annie, but a tourist in that outfit is new to me. Do you really expect me to keep a straight face when a gorgeous, nearly-nude girl is within my grasp?"
"Yes. Actually, I do. Please? I've been thinking about this all day and I really want to do it. Humour me – I'll make it worth your while."

Justine Elyot writes erotica and erotic romance for a host of publishers, including Black Lace, who published her first full-length book, On Demand, as well as Xcite Books, Carina Press, Total E-Bound and Noble Romance. Her third and fourth novels are due out later this year. She is never happier than when exploring the darker reaches of her imagination, and enjoys music, good food and wine, and living by the sea.

Lexie Bay's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration
I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Lexie Bay, author of Taken With Consent and In Love and War tells us where the ideas came from for her awesome stories…
Over to Lexie:
When Lucy put out a call for submissions for an anthology containing nothing but boys and girls in uniform, I couldn't wait to get writing. The reason being that men in uniform are one of my all-time favourite things, alongside grubby looking bad boys in leather! I was so excited I submitted two stories, Taken With Consent and In Love and War.
The first story I wrote and sent off was Taken With Consent, which was also the first ever story I submitted for publication. I knew straight away which uniform I was going to write about. I've always had a thing for policemen, after I had a fling with a gorgeous rugby player who was also a cop! Perfectly merging two of my favourite things; big sweaty men and uniforms.
I have a confession to make too. Some of you who follow me on Twitter may already know this, but I have to admit to being completely obsessed with The Bill. There is nothing hotter than watching a gorgeous guy in a crisp white shirt and tight trousers, man-handling criminals! The day it ended was a very bleak day for television. So it was police all the way for my first foray into the world of smut. My sexy desk cop is based entirely on Sergeant Callum Stone, from his cheeky comments to his sexy, naughty streak. He's tall, dark and gorgeous, which fitted my character perfectly and I had so much fun writing him.
In Love and War was one of those stories that just flowed. I have a fascination with all things Russian, especially the guys! I've never been there so I probably have a completely unrealistic view but it always strikes me as such a passionate place. The buildings are so beautiful and the landscape so desolate, that it can't help but inspire romance. I wanted Anna to come across as innocent, to capture that intensity of your first love alongside the fear of the war and the guilt of upsetting her parents. I wanted to make it sexy and dirty but combine it with some emotion too. As a bonus, Dimitri spends a lot of the story bloody, bruised and broken which brings out the wicked streak in me! Oh and he's based on Lucas North from Spooks, all soft brown eyes and brooding intensity, messy dark hair and a body to make you weep.
So if you're the same as me, and a well-filled uniform makes you weak with lust, how about doing your bit for the boys and girls fighting for us today and go get yourself a copy of Uniform Behaviour. Then take a picture of you reading it and see if you can win some fabulous prizes too!
Love Lexie xx

Lexie started writing to immerse herself in a fantasy world where women are adored and men fall at their feet. Then she realised that sometimes men do that so you can stomp all over them in your sexy stiletto boots and since then she's been creating stories that stay true to her original romantic dream while exploring the erotic, the kinky and the downright filthy. She finally found the courage to unleash them onto the world and now writes about anything that emerges from the murky depths of her imagination, whenever she gets the opportunity.
Lexie lives with her husband and two daughters in a house by the sea on the south coast of England, and spends her days working as an accounts manager. She loves chocolate, theme parks, BBQs on the beach and cosy winter Sundays and her dream is to write full time.

An Important Day
Today is a very important today – for two reasons.
First, it's Armed Forces Day in the UK – a day to honour the UK's Service personnel, past, present and future. My way of doing this has been to set up the Uniform Behaviour competition. The point? Every copy of the eBook anthology sold donates a percentage to Help for Heroes – a UK charity set up to help men and women wounded in battle. That's my way of giving back to those that put themselves in danger to protect us. So that's why I'm doing the promo – the more awareness there is for the anthology, the more copies will be sold. The more copies sold, the more money I can put in the charity coffers. And that makes me very happy indeed. So, what are you waiting for? Check out the promotion now – the prizes up for grabs include eBooks, signed postcards, bookmarks, bath bombs, personalised stories and more.
I actually took some time out to visit The National Memorial Arboretum recently. I've been before as part of the Ride to the Wall event, but I've never been just to walk around and look at everything. It doesn't just have memorials for the armed forces, there are ones for all kinds of things, but this beautiful memorial is the centrepiece. It's engraved with names of men and women who've lost their lives in war. I don't know anyone, personally, that's been killed but it doesn't lessen the poignancy any.
Another wonderful thing about it is a clever part of its creation. A gap in the structure has been designed so that on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month – Remembrance Day – the sun shines perfectly through the chink in the wall, highlighting this part of the memorial. I don't suppose I will ever see that because obviously there's a dedicated event that happens on that day every year and various VIPs attend, so most people can't get close. But I imagine it's a stunning thing to see and a wonderful way to commemorate sacrifices people have made.
The arboretum itself is free to visit (you just have to pay parking) so if you're ever close by, I'd urge a visit – it's such a peaceful and beautiful place and a perfect garden of remembrance.
On a much more celebratory note, the second important thing happening today is this very website's birthday! Yes, I was surprised to see that the site has now been going for five years, I can't believe it! I hope you will join me in raising a glass to toast five years online and five years of rambling at you lot It's wonderful to think how many people I've met through having this website, lots of cool readers and writers who may never have met if not for the power of the internet! So, thank you for reading and thank you for visiting the site – I hope you're still coming back in another five years!

Rebecca Bond's Uniform Behaviour Inspiration
I'm going to be posting a series of guest blogs and interviews over the duration of the Uniform Behaviour competition which will give an insight into the minds of the contributing authors. Here, Rebecca Bond, author of Fireman's List and Sin City tells us where the ideas came from for her awesome stories…
Over to Rebecca:
Unexpected Inspiration by Rebecca Bond
Now, I'm all for helping a hero or two and what better way to do just that then putting pen to paper and writing some juicy smut?! I'm not gonna lie, I have a love of all things uniform – the soldier, the sailor, the doctor, you name and I've most probably thought about it, but the uniforms I love the most? The fire-fighter and the policeman. More specifically, the NYPD get-up.
That's right, my obsession with NYC is now pretty well documented so what better setting in which to write a juicy little uniform-centric piece, it was a no-brainer. Sin City was born out of a love for Manhattan, tattoo parlours, strong, fierce women and the NYPD uniform. I firmly believe that everyone has that bad streak inside them – the ability to commit sin, no matter how good they are or how well they follow the rules. Sin City sees a top notch law enforcement officer embrace corruption and commit the sweetest of sins whilst on the job. Yes, she has sex with the perp. she's just arrested. It's dark, it's dirty, there's a bit of ink thrown in – everything I love about a good bit of erotica.
My story, Fireman's Lift, kicks off the Uniform Behaviour anthology and tells of a smoking hot encounter within the confines of a lift (that's elevator to the US peeps out there!). Although I'd never really paid much attention to the kit before writing this story, it was the bumping into a fireman outside Westminster Fire Station on a cold winter morning before work that got my creative juices aflame and burning brightly. Needless to say, I spent that evening getting hot and steamy with Susie and Bryan, and Fireman's Lift was born!
