Someone Else’s Shoes
From a young age, reading and writing have always fascinated me. If you’ve read my posts with any degree of frequency, it is not uncommon to hear me remark how talented I believe writers can be because they are able to elicit such emotion in us depending on the subject of the novel we are reading, who the characters are, what they are doing, etc.
This ability to elicit emotion or even have us step into a role is even more fascinating when I think of how obtuse we can be on a day to day basis. I include myself in this criticism as I know, despite my best efforts, that I too am guilty of pushing out all others’ desires, needs and concerns and placing my own above theirs. Do you deny you do this too? Think about it. Do you always let other cars in as you are driving or even people for that matter… do you hold doors or let someone step in front of you in line? Do you give money or assistance to those asking for it?
Now don’t mistake my questions as a determinant of whether you are a good person or not. I am not here to judge and as I already admitted, I am guilty of not always doing these things. It isn’t because I’m trying to be a “bad” person but simply because I am unaware of their situation, their intentions or even how they feel. As such, I’m blind and ignorant to their needs compared to my own.
I recently spoke with an acquaintance who is caring for her brother and she voiced how hard it is to care for someone with mental health issues. It is hard because we as a society don’t necessarily make it easy, but additionally because her brother is frustrating and she has to adjust her way of thinking to remind herself that it isn’t on purpose—he just isn’t in the same state she knew him in so many years ago.
I too am facing something similar in helping an elderly family member who seems to be experiencing the start of memory loss or even dementia. I find myself frustrated only to ground myself on the thought they are unawares to my frustration and not necessarily intending to cause me strife. Bottomline, it is a very difficult thing to step in someone’s shoes or even to give others a true taste of emotion you may feel. A truly talented writer can do this and that in itself is a wonder.
Have a great week and happy writing!

Cat Tales Paranormal-Scope
Did someone say breakfast? Bella and Buffy are always ready.
When the weather is chilly and unpredictable, eating is a favorite hobby. Games are fun and staring wide-eyed at the snowflakes coming down. But when all is said and done, it’s the food that matters. Cats may be were animals or maybe just cats. Who’s to say! They are still mysterious.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Werecats love sleeping on the sunny spot on the carpet. Try it sometime but don’t be surprised if they sleep on top of you as well. Being passionate about something will get you to the top.
Taurus:
Werecats love playing games like in which shoe do you hide the mouse. Go through your clothes. Some items are not worth keeping.
Gemini:
Werekittens love following people around. It’s called job shadowing. Enjoy finding out new things about your job.
Cancer:
Werecats celebrate the little things in life. Like when your necklace broke and the beads scattered everywhere. They found them. Getting help from friends is paramount in your life right now.
Leo:
Werecats love to cuddle. They need to feel loved and appreciated. Doesn’t every human?
Virgo:
Werecats contain the mystery of the pyramids in their fuzzy brains. But they will trade it for tuna anytime. A good business transaction is about knowing what your customer wants.
Libra:
Werekittens are all about playing games. It makes them happy. Get together with some friends and play games or go to one.
Scorpio:
Werecats are sophisticates. They enjoy the finer things in life. Go through your wardrobe and get rid of any outfits that don’t show you at your best.
Sagittarius:
Werekittens are all about sharing. They will give you half a mouse if you really want it. Consider half of something is better than nothing at all. Always thank the giver for the gift.
Capricorn:
Werecats don’t tolerate being off schedule. Food, exercise, sleep all come in proper order. Are you getting enough food, exercise, and sleep? Confer with your doctor.
Aquarius:
Werekittens love gazing out the windows. Their sharp eyes pick out all the details. When things change, it’s exciting. Bring that viewpoint to every grand experiment in your life. It can inspire you.
Pisces:
Werekittens like to snuggle with all their siblings. Invite dear friends and family over for dinner and a movie at your house. I recommend Pet Story 2 for giggles.

Cat Tales By Susan Hanniford Crowley
Buffy
[image error]
Bella
Today I’m talking about the two little sweet souls that came into our lives 9 years ago. Bella and Buffy are tuxedo cats. Bella looks black and white, but if she lays in the sun she is really dark brown. Buffy is gray and white. They are sisters who were put in a cardboard box and left on the sidewalk of a city. Fortunately, someone called the cat rescuers who came for them and feed them with eye droppers until they were old enough for adoption.
They were called Tuffet and Muffet on the group’s online website. When we called and went to get them, we could only get Tuffet as Muffet was promised to someone else. The next day, I found out that the person didn’t come for Muffet. I wanted her right away.
My oldest daughter renamed Tuffet as Bella for Bella Swan of “Twilight” fame. My husband renamed Muffet (the smaller sister) as Buffy as in Buffy the Mouse Slayer.
These furry girls were raised by our little dog Pete who was half Bichon Frise and half Minature Poodle. They followed him everywhere like little ducks.
Pete was already a very old dog by the time these two youngsters came along, but it didn’t matter to him. He taught them mousing and games, and how if you climb up on the table be sure to knock over the box with the dog biscuits and then push the biscuit until it falls down to the floor where he waited. He was very smart and easy-going. When he passed away, Buffy and Bella sat at the top of the stairs and cried. We did, too.
Today all grown up, Bella is the diva of the house and worships my oldest daughter. Buffy is the house guardian. She will sit in the bed of anyone who is sick and watch over them. If you are extremely sick, you get two furry nurses staring at you. In the evenings when the family is watching TV, they are both watching, too.
To provide a home to a dog or cat that needs rescuing is a gift for everyone involved. It’s welcoming an addition to your family.
Thank you and spend time with those you love.

For the Love of…Moving Your Body
Recently, I started going to a gym. Weight lifting, cardio in the pool, and challenging my body to work at a level it hadn’t experienced in a very long time. As you can imagine, my body has also begun a level of cursing at me heretofore unknown.
During my workout
Sleep at first was fitful; every time I changed position I groaned, and not the good kind. Nope, this was an all out rebellion by my muscles. But after two weeks, although I’m still sore after a workout, my sleeping has greatly improved. It’s fascinating that you can feel a change in such a short time.
After my workout
Truly, I’m not a masochist. Honest. At least, that’s what I keep telling myself. But as I approach a new decade, I realize that starting now will do nothing but help me with each passing year. Muscle loss increases as we age, and keeping the weight off grows more difficult, too. Other changes like increased blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity and all the medical issues that arise from it, are all too possible and unfortunately likely.
So, I decided to combat that with exercise. It may be difficult to adjust to the added routine and the soreness, but there will come a day (God, hopefully soon) when the soreness isn’t so sharp, and I feel invigorated by every workout, rather than so fatigued.
No explanation needed
Don’t get me wrong, though. I’m getting to that point quickly, and it feels good. So I challenge you to move in any way you can. Join a gym, ride a bike, swim, walk, dance, yoga; there are so many ways to use your muscles, to challenge them, and you don’t need money for many of my suggestions, just some time, and a desire to stave off the advancing years for as long as you can.
Beautiful and comfortable in her own skin
Once your body stops cursing at you, it will reward your work with a purr.
May your words flow freely,
Artemis

True Perspective
I had a recent conversation with a co-worker questioning the value of what we do. We both work in the financial industry and while our goal is to help people each day, it still doesn’t feel like the type of help you think of when you think of doctors saving lives or even workers in the aftermath of a tragic natural disaster—at least that was my point of view which made me question if I could be spending my time doing something I termed more meaningful.
In talking with my co-worker, he saw it completely differently. He saw what we do just as important as those doctors and relief workers. He could point to specific instances of where he helped clients and how that positively impacted their lives. As I listened to his view point, I couldn’t help but start to think about my clients and how I had helped them. As I reflected, I did realize that I add meaning to their lives. Perhaps it was not in the life or death way of doctors and relief workers, but that didn’t mean my help held no value.
So where did all this reflecting get me? It made me realize that I tend to focus in a lot and compare all I do to the extreme. But life doesn’t work that way and if I am always comparing myself to something more drastically “better”, I will always come up short. Bottom line, put life I perspective.
Happy writing this week!

The Warm Fuzzy Paranormal-Scope
Photo Courtesy by Diana Măceşanu on Unsplash
The season will come soon. Spring isn’t that far away. Though we may wrap ourselves in warm blankets when winter wings blow, we dream of sweetly scented meadows of wildflowers, where baby rabbits hop.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Puppies have their own kind of magic to soften the heart. The world loves you more than you know.
Taurus:
Baby seals laugh and play in the surf. It’s their sense of adventure that keeps their parents busy. Plan a vacation or day trip today.
Gemini:
Baby ducks like to walk in a line. Focus at work and get more work done. You’ll feel better for it.
Cancer:
Baby birds are sleeping in their nest. Make sure to give yourself sufficient sleep time. Remember that sleep rejuvenates the body.
Leo:
A colt gazed from the stall at the soon to be melted field. He dreams of frolicking. Plan a get-together with friends.
Virgo:
Kittens have the mystery of the ages in their eyes. They are always uncovering new truths. Time to clean the clutter in your home.
Libra:
When butterflies emerge from their cocoons, they embark on a new adventure. No matter what your life has been so far, tomorrow is a new adventure for you.
Scorpio:
Baby owls love their hole in the tree. Generations of their family have lived there. In searching for your history, consider making a meal to share from that country.
Sagittarius:
A baby squirrel gets hit in the head by a nut. That’s what happens when you have a lot of siblings, but he will learn to roll with it. Grow past the hard times. It will make you stronger.
Capricorn:
Chipmunk babies are uncommonly brave. Their tree is their tree. Think about bringing some plants into the house. Check for chipmunks first.
Aquarius:
The fawn hides with his mother. It will be a long time before his antlers come in. Learn a new skill but give yourself the time to embrace and enjoy it.
Pisces:
The warmest baby is a new star. Your accomplishments will be appreciated by others. Smile and shine brightly.

Supernatural Sea Paranormal-Scope
Photo Courtesy by David Clode on Unsplash
Many of the creatures of the sea don’t have to be supernatural to be frightening or amusing. Still, there are supernatural as of yet undiscovered.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
Aries:
Were Sharks eat everything not nailed down. They have a preference for hammers. Watch what you eat. If needed, as your doctor for advice.
Taurus:
Narwhal whales got right to the point. Being blunt doesn’t work for everyone. Listen to people and be gentle when they ask for advice.
Gemini:
Jellyfish were the first supernaturals of the sea. They sway to the music. Consider taking a course on dancing.
Cancer:
The Stonefish is venomous and tricky as it lay near the reef and looks like a stone. Don’t let appearance deceive you.
Leo:
At the depth of 4,000 feet, you may come upon a Spaghetti Monster. Remember, some things are scary when they really are not. Don’t let fear stop you from pursuing your dreams.
Virgo:
The Vampire Squid is only at most 6 inches and the last of its kind. Treasure people close to you as life is a funny thing. Don’t miss out on fun and love.
Libra:
The Monstrous Megamouth Shark doesn’t swim after food. It keeps its mouth open and enjoys the meal that floats inside. Keep your eyes open for what is coming your way.
Scorpio:
The Black Dragon Fish uses light to change how it appears. Consider a makeover for yourself. Buy some new things.
Sagittarius:
A Skeletal Dragon Fish can grow as long as 120 feet, most;y its tail. Someone might accidentally step on you. Forgive them.
Capricorn:
The Viperfish loves tropical waters. Plan a vacation to a sunny spot in the world.
Aquarius:
The Crimson Jellyfish hypnotizes its prey. Don’t be fooled by a scam.
Pisces:
The Deadly Sea Cucumber looks laid back. When attacked, it can emit a toxic chemical that kills. Hang out with friends that support you and avoid toxic people.
