Release Day Anticipation by Stacy Hoff
My new novel, BETTING ON LOVE IN VEGAS, releases very soon. In fact, March 22, 2017, is right around the corner! This launch is more than a release of a new book, it is the release of my new BUILDING LOVE series.
It’s exciting for me to have another new release. It’s also a bit intimidating. Especially this time. I worry whether people will like book one. If they don’t, will the rest of the series languish? I feel like there’s more pressure on an author with a series than with a stand-alone novel.
And yet, writing a series can have benefits. It allows readers to stay with stories they like. From a writer’s perspective, it allows the author to stay with stories they like, too. So here I am, launching a new one.
Release day is almost here. I hope my series goes well. I’ll cross my fingers. And keep on writing.
Book blurb for BETTING ON LOVE IN VEGAS
Catherine “Cat” Warner has problems. The profits from her inns are down. The pressure from her parents is up. Her love life is non-existent. But Cat did manage to get the attention of tough, powerful, gorgeous hotel magnate Ty Orland. Unfortunately, his interest in her is for all the wrong reasons. Instead of wanting Cat, this debonair CEO only wants her land—a parcel he desperately needs for his next big development deal. Too bad, it’s not for sale. A people pleaser by nature, Cat knows to stand strong. If she caves in to the demands of this sexy, alluring man, it will be her own neck on the line.
Ty Orland has a lot of things going for him. Success. Power. Respect. Unfortunately, he’s also got an old chip on his shoulder and a new financial nightmare. His development deal is going down in flames—and fast. His only way out is if Cat sells him her strategically located parcel. But romancing the land from her is not easy when love gets in the way. The woman is as beautiful as she is beguiling. And Ty no longer knows which prize is more valuable.

Swinging Into Spring
We are swinging gently into spring. I’m already seeing bunnies, baby chicks, eggs, clovers and tulips line the shelves. Where I live, it certainly feels like spring already and flowers are just beginning to come out of hiding. Other parts of the country seem to be getting their dose of warmer weather as well.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons. There is of course that sense or renewal and cleansing. For my family and it goes hand and hand was we will actually be moving within the next 3 months and we are in the process of cleaning out our home, getting rid of clothes and toys and furniture that we haven’t used in years.
So what does this mean for you? Perhaps nothing… or perhaps if you are like me, this sense of renewal is exactly what you need as a pick me up. We tend to have tons of energy and a desire to make big changes around the start of the New Year, but after time, this lags. Why not take advantage of that second wind to either pick your goals back up or make some changes to those goals if you’ve come to realize they aren’t important any longer. You don’t need to wait to the start of a year. Most importantly, you just need to feel good about the next steps you take and spring is just the season to give you that.
Good luck and happy writing this week!

New Release March 7th! Finding Valor by Ripley Proserpina
Finding Valor, the second book in The Searchers series releases this Tuesday, March 7th. Here is the blurb and a sneak peek!
****
Forgiveness is out of reach…
Nora’s relationship with Ryan, Seok, Apollo, Matisse, and Cai is everything she could want. Never believing she’d fall in love, the acceptance they offer her is the only thing standing between her and a world that still hates her, no matter her innocence. Falling into a routine with the guys, she finally lets herself relax and dream about the future.
Until the past catches up with them…
Suddenly, Ryan’s entire future is at stake, and a man from his past, one with good reason to hate him, arrives to take the things he’s worked so hard to build. Rather than fight, Ryan wants to submit, weighed down with the guilt he believes he deserves. Pushing Nora away, he distances himself from her and his friends, placing everything they have at risk.
Can Nora help Ryan heal? He has to believe the person he’s become is nothing like the man he was, but all he sees in the mirror is evil. Will he ever believe he’s earned her love and the chance to be happy?
Excerpt:
Shaking her head, Nora wouldn’t meet Ryan’s eyes. “I was worried about you. I was going to demand answers. Not the best way to approach you, I know.” Peering up, her cheeks pinked, and she twisted her mouth.
What kind of answers? He wasn’t ready to discuss things, especially not standing in front of a busy campus building. “Can we talk later?”
She met his eyes, and the hopeful look on her face was an arrow in his heart. He’d spoken those words without really thinking about what they meant. Talking meant telling her why he was worried and what the dean of admissions had told him. No, he wasn’t ready.
A thought occurred to him. What he really wanted to do was lie, say everything was okay, and go back to it being the way it was, where he took care of Nora and he knew what to do. His life was laid out, and things had been the way he wanted them.
This wasn’t the way he wanted to feel— scrambling, fingers clawing at the dirt to keep from slipping over the cliff and back into the mess he used to be.
What the hell was wrong with him? When had he become afraid of everything? Afraid of the past. Afraid of the future.
The light began to fade from Nora’s face; he’d been silent so long. He opened his mouth, but she shook her head quickly. “It’s okay. You don’t have to answer.” She gave a small laugh and glanced away, her curls flying around her face as the wind picked up. “If anyone knows how it feels not to want to talk, it’s me.” She turned back to him and smiled. It was a small smile and a little pained but still genuine.
Without thinking, he pushed her hair back, wrapping his hand around the back of her neck to pull her forward. He kissed her, hard. Harder than he usually did, searching for control somewhere.
It wasn’t in his kiss.
She clung to him. Lifting up onto her tiptoes and curling her hands around his wrists, she dove into his mouth like she was desperate for the closeness only he could give. She trembled, and he wrapped his arms around her. This was what he needed. This was what mattered.
He couldn’t breathe, but he didn’t care. He’d take the air right from Nora’s lungs as surely as she took the breath from his.
Groaning, her hands gripped the back of his jacket, slipping beneath it to push his sweater and t-shirt aside. Her chilly hands against his skin made him shiver. Their kiss was a jumble of teeth, tongues, lips. It wasn’t his smoothest kiss by any stretch, but he held nothing back, and neither did she.

Sexy and Strong Saturday Blog Hop & Excerpt from The Stormy Love Life of Laura Cordelais
Before everyone knew about King Max, I wrote the story of one of his sons in a novel called The Stormy Love Life of Laura Cordelais. Max has six sons and one daughter. This book features how David Hilliard meets Laura. Since the Sexy Saturday Blog Hop Excerpt is about “sexy and strong”, other than King Max, my mind immediately went to his son David, who fought in the Civil War and “died” at Gettysburg.
Recently I was talking to a reader and David just takes her breath away. So here’s our sophisticated New Yorker in his own quest for love, before we know him as Noblesse’s big brother and the Captain of the Arnhem Knights. Seven paragraphs on falling like a rock in love. It’s not easy when you’ve made a new vampire, even if it was to save her life. There are details to work out like the sleeping arrangements in his apartment. It’s getting harder and harder to be a gentleman. (Pun intended.)
*
“Okay. You take the bedroom and I’ll sleep on the couch.”
Laura went into the bedroom to get him a pillow and blankets. Then she came out with a sad expression on her face. “Um, David, there’s only a coffin in there.”
“Yes.”
“I can’t sleep in a box.”
“Okay. I’ll take the coffin, and you take the sofa.”
She sat down next to him on the sofa looking all adorable wearing only his white pin-stripe shirt with her pink panties. “Maybe we could both sleep on the sofa?”
“I guess. You stretch out here, and I’ll be your blanket.” As soon as he was in position, he knew that this would lead to something. Then he heard her soft voice in his head. I want you, David. I want you so much.
To be continued in the book: https://www.amazon.com/Stormy-Love-Life-Laura-Cordelais/dp/1493789546/
The Stormy Love Life of Laura Cordelais is Book 2 in my first series Vampires in Manhattan.

Writing From Travel Memories by Stacy Hoff
My newest book, BETTING ON LOVE IN VEGAS, which releases March 22, 2017, takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Why did I pick this locale? Because I’ve been to Vegas. Twice. I’ve got fond memories from almost twenty years ago. Back when my husband and I didn’t have children, so we had free time—and free cash.
Back then, my husband and I walked the Las Vegas Strip with wide-eyed wonderment. We gawked at the hotels. We ate like gods at the many buffets. We had fun gambling. (My boss gave me a hundred dollars to bet on his behalf. As instructed, I dutifully placed his chip on his specific number, at the “magic time,” on the roulette wheel. And then lost it all. Fortunately, I managed to keep my job.)
To this day, a poster of Las Vegas decorates my office wall. I work in a city located thousands of miles away, and yet, my Vegas poster acts like a magical window when I long to escape the workaday blues.
For me, writing about places I’ve traveled to suits many purposes. It allows me to relive fond memories of fun destinations. It makes for an exciting backdrop to my stories. It triggers my imagination for new adventures. And most of all, lets me believe I am somewhere else. Even if only for a little while.
Hopefully when people read BETTING ON LOVE IN LAS VEGAS, they will think they are in Las Vegas, too.
Does travel impact your life?

Just How Happy is Disneyland?
This past weekend, my family and I went to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. We’ve lived out toward the west coast for ten years and never been. Now that we are contemplating a move back to the east coast, it simply seemed like one of those places I had to see and had to experience.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Disney World and Disneyland termed as the “happiest place on earth” and I can honestly say that there is really something to the term of endearment. Don’t get me wrong, the trip was exhausting and should I go back or when I go back, I will probably extend my stay for longer than a couple days. And it wasn’t the awesome rides or the characters or the spectacular landscape that really astounded me. More so than anything, it was the attitudes of those around me. Day two into our trip, it rained off and on for a good portion of the day but did that slow anyone down? Absolutely not. People were excited and happy and the feelings just became contagious.
So what did I learn from all of this? Well, while it definitely helps to spend the day somewhere that looks like fun and sounds like fun and smells like corn dogs, popcorn and churros, that certainly isn’t enough. You need the right attitude for the outlook to truly be happy. After all, I saw tired parents and kids, kids having end of night meltdowns, long lines and rainy weather. It didn’t matter because people didn’t seem to let it matter. Could you imagine what work would be like if we did the same?
Happy writing this week!

Zombie Fever Paranormal-Scope
Things are changing and everything is up for grabs. Keep those you love close to you.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
The week for:
Aries:
Zombie love to run. It’s good for the health. Review your exercise routine.
Taurus:
Gourmet food may be the answer, though I don’t recommend brains.
Gemini:
Foggy brain is a problem for a zombie. They just can’t remember enough things. Make a list and eat a good breakfast to clear the fog.
Cancer:
Zombies are great listeners. They don’t need to talk much and you can vent all your want around them.
Leo:
One zombie is a morning snacker. Six zombies are a dinner party. Prepare for unexpected company.
Virgo:
Zombies feel sluggish. Probably eating too many sugar fueled brains. Eat more vegetables.
Libra:
Music inspires Zombies to move it. Perhaps dance will fuel your energy and expand your exercise.
Scorpio:
How far can a zombie run before parts fall off? It’s the same principle with cars. Give your vehicle a checkup before any road trips.
Sagittarius:
It’s a little know fact that zombies make terrible outfielders. Why? Because they just stand out there. Don’t do the same. Get in the game.
Capricorn:
Pudding confuses zombies. They like it. We think it’s the consistency that they enjoy. Similar to brains in a blender. So if attacked, serve them pudding.
Aquarius:
Baby goat terrify zombies. So keep a yard of baby goats. Giggles.
Pisces:
You have a week free of zombies. It’s yours to go out and have fun without worries.
