Vampires Joy Night Paranormal-Scope

Spring is finally arriving, and I have more flowers in the yard. Somehow that makes everything better. Did I tell you that vampires enjoy flowers, too?

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

The week for:

Aries:

Vampires love a challenge. This is the time for you to follow your dream. So far you’ve been achieving other people’s dreams but leaving you last. This time is for you!

Taurus:

Vampires find good luck amusing. Good luck is coming your way. When collaborating with others, make sure everyone is clear on their part.

Gemini:

Vampires have seen a lot of shooting stars, but your star is climbing higher now. Get everything in writing where money is involved.

Cancer:

Vampires love mixers. A blood Mary or two. It’s time to be social. Career opportunities can bloom. Making new friends is just fun.

Leo:

A vampire is reflective as a person (okay, not in mirrors though). Review your past efforts, and remake that plan for the now and future.

Virgo:

Many vampires use their longevity to improve their education. Take a class on a subject you love or always wondered about.

Libra:

A vampire cares deeply about those dear. Repay any old loans. Visit those you’ve longed to see.

Scorpio:

Vampires working together can accomplish alot. New information can give your career a boost. Someone special is entering your circle.

Sagittarius:

Vampires know that change brings new people and ideas. It’s great to be excited but stay calm and watchful, patient too. Good things don’t always come fast.

Capricorn:

Vampires fly toward new opportunities. You are in flux. You are closing some doors but opening others. Be brave and move forward.

Aquarius:

Vampires are analytic in making business decisions. Emotions should be left out of career planning or any financial transaction.

Pisces:

Vampires that are rich are careful with their money. Do the same. Don’t spend on big ticket items right now. Save!

Fun with Horoscopes… By Ripley Proserpina

Sorrow-scopes are my new favorite Twitter alert. Over the past months, I’ve received messages like:

Capricorn: Start writing that book you’re never going to finish. The words don’t matter. It’s in the telling people about it that gets you through the day.

And…

Capricorn: Everyone’s still talking about your appearance on the Red Carpet, in the middle of the Red Room, cowering before the Great and Terrible Red King.

I don’t even know what that means, but I still chuckled. So, in keeping with my most recent amusement, I’ve decided to share some of stranger horoscopes I’ve found for Zodiac signs… Enjoy:)

Aries from The Onion

The Virgin Mary will appear in a dream and tell you to go forth in the world to help the poor and needy, causing you to wake up screaming in a cold sweat.

Taurus from www.mamamia.com.au

You will find your soulmate this week. Look to your left. You will be passionately kissing that person by the end of the year. If there’s nobody sitting there…Well, sucks to be you I guess. #sadface

Gemini from www.horoscope.com

This is a great day for routine work that doesn’t require much concentration.

Cancer fromwisecrackzodiac.wordpress.com

It’s great that you want to reach for the stars, but what if you succeed? Those things are probably very hot, not to mention really, really far away. Take some gloves and protein bars before you hop into that Tesla and go.

Leo from www.astrologyweekly.com

You like to kiss mirrors a lot.

Virgo from sevendaysvt.com

“Chill out, dammit!”

Libra from scoop.it

Someone at school or work may hit on you. Unfortunately, you do not find him attractive (is it that one eye that is bigger than the other?).

Scorpio from Buzzfeed’s Good Nice Horoscope

Did you get your tetanus shot?

Sagittarius from Buzzfeed’s 12 Probably Accurate Horoscopes for Lazy Girls

Cleaning your house, personal hygiene, calling people back, paying your bills, and making any sort of future plans whatsoever. All that stuff can wait for the next week. Or the week after.

Capricorn from @Sorrow-scopes

You know how terrifying carousel music is outside the context of the carousel, and in the context of panicked and futile fleeing? You don’t? Oh, you’re in for a treat.

Aquarius from humor gazette.com

Follow your instincts on matters involving a reputed mobster and his rhesus monkey.

Pisces from mamamia.com.au

Remember last week, when you said that next week was going to be better than that week but then this week came and it wasn’t actually better than the week you thought it would be better than? You know where I’m at.

That’s Jupiter’s fault. I don’t know what to tell you – Jupiter is being a total wang right now. But in the immortal words of Ernest Hemingway: “Jupiter can eat my poo.”

What’s In Your Favorite Book Box?

I have a Favorite Book Box under my bed. The order of books don’t mean anything as they are all my favorites. I’m only showing you the first layer. Another time I’ll show you the next layer. So what do I have?

The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula K. LeGuin – A science fiction novel that has never stopped amazing me. It’s about a dreamer whose dreams come true.

Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris – It’s the first of her Sookie Stackhouse novels. If you’ve seen True Blood on HBO, then you know what I’m talking about.

Mortal Touch: Vampires of New England Series by Inanna Arthern – A very different vampire novel about a psychic and the vampire she meets.

Dark Prince by Christine Feehan – A beautiful hunter with telepathic abilities meets a tormented prince.

Highland Protector by Hannah Howell – A woman framed for murder of one of the king’s men seeks the aid of a highlander. I have a thing for handsome guys in kilts.

My Immortal Highlander by Hannah Howell and Lynsay Sands – Like I said I have a thing for kilts. Make him a cursed immortal and oh wow!

The Accidental Vampire by Lynsay Sands – This book never fails to make me giggle. It makes perfect sense to me that if looking for a partner in life, take out a classified ad.

What do you have under your bed? Do you have a favorite book box, too? What books are in it?

Cover Reveal! by Stacy Hoff

Here it is—drumroll, please—the cover for MAD FOR YOU IN MADRID (Building Love #3). Isn’t it pretty? I certainly hope you think so! I’m truly excited for this cover for a number of reasons.

The cover artist, Leah Kaye Suttle, did a great job portraying the theme of the Building Love series. To me, every cover captures both romance and soap-opera style drama. Plus, each book cover shows the exciting, world-class locations where these stories take place.

Here are all three covers together:

But the new cover is a bit different from the other two. MAD FOR YOU IN MADRID is the only one with the following words: “Award winning author.” My publisher (Soul Mate Publishing, Inc.) included the award language as a result of my 2016 novel, JOCKEYING FOR YOU, winning the 2017 Gayle Wilson Award of Excellence.

The cover for MAD FOR YOU IN MADRID accurately captures Madrid, Spain, where the story takes place. In specific, the location is Grand Via, Madrid’s “Broadway.” Why did I choose this area? Not only is it famous, I recently flew there on vacation. I knew it would be the perfect location for the third book in the Building Love series.

I hope you pick up the book, which will be released this October, and agree!

Maintenance

This week I want to talk about maintenance. I was scheduling an eye exam this past week and thought about all the things we have to continuously improve and work on. All the things that make life so complex and yet these are the things we don’t see to take into account as we plan out our vision for the future.

Take writing for instance. Most of the time, writing a book starts out as a thought – could I? Possibly? If she/he could, then I could… I have this idea… And truth be told, writing a book seems like such a feat. And it is a feat in some ways. It is blood, sweat, tears and tons of time poured out onto the digital pages of a word document. One day perhaps we finish this book and we celebrate as we should. But what many of us don’t realize is that for many (especially those who want writing to be more than a small time hobby), this work is just the beginning. Then comes the maintenance – more writing, social media, publicity, websites and spin offs, etc. And sure we can do some of this very cheaply or we can hire someone else to do it for us but for the former, it still takes a lot of time and for the latter option, it can get costly if you aren’t making much money to begin with.

So the lesson of today’s blog—think things out, and I mean all aspects out. I work with folks each day who have long-term goals like Retirement or buying a home but there are a lot of steps to get from point A to point B and only through our active efforts (and maintenance) will we be successful.

Happy writing this week!

Scary Plants Paranormal-Scope

The Dragon’s Blood Tree By Boris Khvostichenko(User:Boriskhv) [GFDL (http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/fdl.html) or CC BY-SA 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)%5D, from Wikimedia Commons

I love the flowers of spring. But then there are plants that you might want to avoid.

While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.

The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.

The week for:

Aries:

Bleeding Tooth Fungus is white and oozes red fluid. Not a plant to mess with. Put some attention on dental care.

Taurus:

When gardens of the heart are neglected, Giant Hogweed may grow there. The plant can cause scars, blisters, and blindness. Are you being blind to someone who cares for you? Spend time with those that love you.

Gemini:

When Red Tide algae washed in, the mermaids swim far away. It’s toxic. Are you allowing toxic people into your life? Re-evaluate and eliminate any social plans that are not fun and heart warming.

Cancer:

Even vampires avoid Death Camas. It looks like a harmless white and yellow flower, but it’s deadly. Before bringing new house plants into your home, find out if they’re safe.

Leo:

The Venus Fly Trap eats insects. It’s time to try new cuisines. Okay, you may not want to eat insects, but I’ve heard that chocolate covered ants are great.

Virgo:

Cuscuta aka Dodder Vine or Strangle Vine wraps around the victim tree and gets into its vascular system. Do you have a negative someone from the past under your skin? Time to let them go.

Libra:

Brain cactus is poisonous and not a friendly house plant. Forgets plants for now and exercise that brain of yours with a new hobby or visiting a new place.

Scorpio:

Angel’s Trumpets are quite pretty with their yellow blooms, but so poisonous that zombies avoid eating them. And they eat almost anything. Take a look at your personal menu. Could you be eating healthier?

Sagittarius:

Gympie Gympie Tree has stinging needles that are fatal if touched. Some people don’t like hugs let alone being touched. Make new friends but keep a respectful distance. Let them initiate any closeness.

Capricorn:

Doll’s Eye look like eyeballs on a red vine. The eyeballs are really a poisonous fruit. Things are not always what they seem. Wait until you get all the information before making any decisions in relationships or money.

Aquarius:

The Corpse Flower stinks as it flowers but once it become fruity, it’s poisonous. Things change. Sometimes things get worse, but even that will pass. Never lose hope. You can get through anything.

Pisces:

The Dragon’s Blood Tree on Socotra island, Yemen may be a mystical and medical gift. It’s red sap has been used for medicinal benefits. Some say it’s been used in rituals. The unexpected is coming your way. Prepare for surprises.

Pin It… By Ripley Proserpina

I don’t always have an image in my head of a character right away. Sometimes, they are more a collection of features built around a very vivid personality. A friend of mine, who is a writer, prints out inspiration for her characters and pins them to a board. Then, when the story is written, she has a tradition of taking the pictures down and putting them away to make room for her new characters.

I haven’t had a printer in a few years, but I do have a Pintrest board. I don’t always have characters there (I usually do), but I may have the setting, or historically accurate costumes. In one character’s case, I used Roman busts as inspiration.

Check out a few of my boards below.

First Flower of Spring – An Inspiration

I’ve been waiting for flowers every since the weather reporters announced that Spring is here. Then it would snow. And snow. And snow. Finally I have outcroppings in my yard of the bunches of leaves that usually herald the arrive of tulips. But this one was first. I think this is a Grape Hyacinth. If it’s not, please, let me know.

I find flowers to be very inspiring, and I’ve been waiting for Spring for a long time.

What am I doing?  Today I’m working on the preface for my novel-in-progress. I’m also putting in edits from my editor and looking at feedback from the beta readers.

Tomorrow we may have freezing rain, but today, and it’s all about today, there’s sunshine. I’m reveling in the sunshine.
