Replaying the Royal Wedding 2018
I love weddings. I didn’t wake up in time. If you didn’t either, no worries. I’ve decided to put the replay here for everyone else who also slept in.
May Harry and Meghan have many blessings in their lives.

Family Visits by Stacy Hoff
This weekend I have lots of family coming over for a party. I don’t get to see them too often, so I’m especially excited. My group will have a great time catching up, and will certainly create new memories.
So why do I feel guilty I won’t be spending even one second of this weekend writing? I know that family comes first, but my writer’s brain is hard to beat down. Just when I think I’ve put my creative impulse safely away, it pops up like a demented jack-in-the-box; springing forth at the very worst time.
I can try to steal a few minutes away from this weekend’s festivities to jot down a few plot/character/action notes. Or, I can stay in the moment, swearing to myself I will not forget any bright new ideas. What I cannot do, however, is beat myself up for taking time off from writing. After all, life would be boring if I saved all the action for my characters.
Who knows, maybe a few days off will stoke the creative fires. I’m going to enjoy finding out.

Love You
I chopped my hair off this week! Okay, so it isn’t that dramatic. I did cut off about 6-8 inches and instead of having hair a few inches below my shoulders, I now have a bob cut a few inches above my shoulders.
What amazes me with changes like a haircut or even new clothes, is how much these changes can impact how we feel about ourselves and how others react to us. I saw a move recently… I Feel Pretty with Amy Schumer. Now admittedly, I had really low expectations for this movie simply due to the reviews. I still went to see it because my friends really wanted to see it and I honestly just love the movie theater experience. As such, I was pleasantly surprised that I found the movie entertaining. No it won’t win any awards due to content or acting but it was light-hearted, funny and really did address a true issue for many women (and men) out there.
We obsess so much about what or whom we believe we should look like that when we don’t live up to these expectations, we feel rotten and I really do believe that for many of us, the feelings we have are more detrimental than how we actually look. How often are we tugging on our shirts (due to less than loveable love handles), pulling at our hair, crossing our arms over our midsection or groaning when we look in the mirror? Sure we all have flaws but is it worth having them hold us back from being happy? I’d say not but then I’ve been there and done the whole self-loathing thing and I know it hasn’t gotten me anywhere good. So lesson of the week? As corny as it sounds, love you—all of you and celebrate something about yourself you usually aren’t wild about. Just try it!
Happy writing this week!

Beach Paranormal-Scope
Friends and/or family await to fill your life with joy and good times.
While I am not qualified in any way to read neither stars nor planets, I am intimately linked to the paranormal in the world in many ways. So are you.
The paranormal-scope is for entertainment purposes only and is not meant to guide your life by.
The week for:
Aries:
Giant crabs are roaming the beach. You can look at this two ways: either run for your life or have the crab cakes in your life. You have choices to make. You rule your life, remember!
Taurus:
Sand fleas are to be avoided. Also avoid people that make you itch and otherwise unhappy. Keep a low profile and avoid gossipers.
Gemini:
Sharks are ravenous eaters and will eat almost anything. Time to evaluate your diet. Don’t be a shark. Eat healthy.
Cancer:
Jellyfish go with the flow. It takes them around the world. Go with the flow in your personal life. If it feels right, plan a vacation.
Leo:
The beach zombie usually collects things through mishap, like a crab on the nose, a squid hugging its ankle and a shark on its bottom. Consider uncluttering your house. Are their things you don’t need holding onto you?
Virgo:
Vampires prefer the beach at night. Love is in the air. Open your eyes to new friends.
Libra:
Mermaids know how to bite. Don’t judge books or people by their covers. Allow for more time to know someone before developing a relationship.
Scorpio:
Sirens sing a sailor to their deaths. Add to your music collection! You need to dance at times, but sometimes mellow out. Listen more and enjoy.
Sagittarius:
Sea monsters love cookies. It’s a secret. Make some cookies this week to share with friends.
Capricorn:
Giant squids love to hug. Spend more time with those you love.
Aquarius:
Merbunnies are soft and cuddly. Are you adding to your family with a furry one? The possibility exists, and this would be a good time if you were considering it.
Pisces:
Within an oyster, you may find a pearl, or you might trouble. Choose from among your opportunities carefully. There are pearls to be found.

A Little Bit of This with Rebecca Royce… By Ripley Proserpina
I’ve written about Rebecca Royce’s books before. She’s an author who is as comfortable writing sci-fi romances as she is paranormal romances, and lately, contemporary romance. This week, the second to last book in her Last Hope series releases. The first book in this series, Tradition Be Damned, is one of my favorite books of all time. Needless to say, I’m very excited to see what is happening with her dystopian, demon-filled world.
So—in anticipation of this release, I got Rebecca Royce to play This or That with me. Enjoy!
Which 80’s song is best suited to this world? Dont Stop Believing? Or Karma Chameleon?
RR: Karma Chameleon
Is your main character more likely to shop at Hot Topic or Forever 21?
RR: Forever 21
Are Krystal’s love interests and guards more football or soccer?
RR: Soccer
Who is more likely to survive in your world—a fast talking heroine with good running shoes or a shy heroine with a firm grasp of archeology and a great hat?
RR: A shy heroine with a firm grasp of archeology and a great hat.
If you had to choose one of these characters to transport into your world would you choose Nancy Drew or Anne of Green Gables?
RR: Nancy Drew
If you could choose a director for the movie version of this book would it be Steve Spielberg or JJ Abrams?
RR: JJ Abrams
Who would make better guards? Iron Man, Hulk, Hawk Eye, and Captain America? Or Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Ant Man, and Black Widow?
RR: Black Panther, Winter Soldier, Ant Man, and Black Widow.
Compassion Be Damned releases this week, and I can’t wait! Here’s a blurb:) Have a great day everyone! Ripley
It is the end of days…
Krystal has spent years locked in isolation, enduring torture day after day. It might drive a lesser woman mad. Her sudden freedom leads to a journey across the forbidding landscape. Unexpected allies appear, and new challenges block their path. Embracing every opportunity as a chance, Krystal must trust these five lost souls, her wild ability to heal, and most of all—herself.
They owe a debt they cannot pay…
Titus, Paden, Zeke, Ryland, and Jett spent years in bespelled servitude. Slaves to the unforgivable, they seek to atone for misdeeds beyond their power. Discovering a Sister alone in the woods, they pledge themselves to her service. Saving Krystal is more than a means to an end, though, as one by one she restores their hope, love, and faith. They will need all of their strength and hers. Loving her saved them, but losing her may save the world.

Our Jurassic Adventure!
I know we all love thinking of romance authors as laboring on their passionate novels even when spring flowers beckon and beach surf call. But sometimes for the well-being of the authors, we have to let them out.
I escaped for the day to run amok with my family to enjoy nature… and dinosaurs. This lovely spot with so much former wildlife is in Salem, Connecticut. It’s the Dinosaur Place at Nature’s Art.
Take a peek into our Jurassic adventure.

Claire Gem’s New Release
[image error]Hello Passionate Readers! Today I have author Claire Gem talking about her new release, CIVIL HEARTS!
Thank you, Stacy, for hosting me on your blog today! I’m excited to announce my new release, CIVIL HEARTS.
The idea for Civil Hearts came to me in a dream. Believe it or not, this is how a LOT of my story ideas come to me, but there is a shred of true history here. Years ago, when my kids were still little, my husband and I fancied moving to central Alabama, where some friends of ours had relocated. We took a trip there, loved the countryside and the low cost of living.
A realtor took us around to look at a few homes—and one of them was a dead ringer for the Belle Bride. The memories of walking through that abandoned antebellum home have been buried in my subconscious for years. I got a funny, tingly sensation as we toured the lovely but poorly cared for old home, as if someone were watching us. And there was an old barn out back where I caught sight of something, some movement, I never did identify.
We didn’t move to Alabama, and I forgot about that chapter in my life. Until I dreamed about it. Only this time, there was a Confederate soldier pounding on the front door. A ghostly one.
In Civil Hearts, my hero is epileptic. I tend to address some of life’s more serious issues in my novels: the hero in Spirits of the Heart is an alcoholic; the heroine in The Phoenix Syndrome goes deaf. I think it’s important for authors to portray life as it really is, even in the romantic fairy tales we create. It’s one of the reasons I endeavor to evoke more emotion in my readers.
The book trailer (which I had a blast putting together, by the way!) is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fooGwny0ZJQ
I hope you enjoy Liv and Heath’s journey, and I’d love if you’d sign up for my Author-Reader group so you’re the first to know when the next title will be released later this summer. I’m working on the second in my Love at Lake George series entitled Anchor My Heart.
Thank you again, Stacy, for hosting me today!

Book Blurb for Civil Hearts
He’s a sexy Southern gentleman—with epilepsy. She’s a widow scarred from her husband’s brain cancer. Her new home is haunted by a Confederate soldier—and she’s a Yankee.
A widow with no family, web designer Liv Larson yearns for big change. After all, she can work from anywhere, right? Why not throw a dart at the map? She heads out of the big city for the rural South and falls in love as soon as she arrives—with the Belle Bride, an abandoned antebellum mansion.
Heath Barrow loves his country life, managing his antiques store in sleepy Camellia. But he’s lonely, and his condition—epilepsy—makes life uncertain. It’s already cost him a marriage. A new medication and the new girl in town have his heart hopeful again.
Sparks fly between Heath and Liv. But his first seizure sends Liv into a tailspin. Its mimics those her husband suffered before he died . . .
To make matters worse, Liv discovers she’s not living alone. Her challenge? Dealing with a Confederate soldier, one who clearly resents his Yankee roommate—even though he’s been dead for over a hundred and fifty years.

A Little Bit More Fulfillment
I had lunch with a friend this week who like many of us, seems to be living in the world of limbo. She works in a job that is being phased out and she needs to find something new but she isn’t sure what she wants to do or what will give her life more meaning. If I had a penny for every time I heard this or felt this myself, I swear I’d be a millionaire.
I don’t know why this happens. Once again, I’m going to push this question to all those who study the human mind as a profession. That being said, I have felt this and I’ve known others who have felt “a little bit lost” and as a result, I’ve had to think my way through the feelings. In my own case, I believe a lot of times we are simply looking for more fulfillment. This could come in the form of a job that makes us happy or volunteering on the side or even taking up a hobby we love.
As kids, our parents tell us we can do whatever we want if we just put our minds to it. This may be the truth for some folks but for most, life is full of tradeoffs. I could leave my day job and spend time writing but I’d be giving up a lot of benefits for the possibility of happiness—it isn’t even a guarantee. As such, I try to write when I can on the side and while that hasn’t been much lately, my hope is that it will change as my kids get older. That gives me my fulfillment (that and volunteering to help others on the side).
In the meantime, you have to be willing to accept the tradeoff and do what you can to find that “balance” that keeps you riding the ups and downs of life.
Happy writing this week!
Making Time For Writing by Mandy Rosko
Considering what an enormous black hole of procrastination the Internet can be, it gets difficult at times for me to write.
Not that I have trouble sitting down at my computer, but that the writing, or plotting, itself doesn’t seem to want to come when there’s just one more 15 minute Youtube video on my list of things I want to watch for the day.
It’s one of the reasons why I don’t have Netflix. If this is how bad I am with just Youtube or Twitter surfing, then how bad would it be if I had a Netflix subscription.
In fact, I’m checking Twitter while writing this, and I’m about 5K words behind on my writing goal for the month already >.<
Yeah…
So, what tricks do I do to help with the writing when I do find myself in a rut like this?
Well, for one thing, and you’ve likely heard this before already, but I like to occasional write out, or mentally plot out, what I’m going to be doing in my next chapter, and where I’ll be going. That helps make the actual writing move so much smoother, faster, and easier.
Another little trick is Write Or Die.
You’re on a timer, you sit there and write, and if you stop, the screen will flash red at you. Depending on your settings it will also scream at you. This is majorly helpful, trust me.
Another thing that helps, and this will depend a little more on your own personal bravery, but if I’m live streaming while working in some way, I’m definitely less likely to check out weird videos or websites. Less time wasted, more words written, amiright?
