New Forensic Technology Breakthrough for Detecting Human Remains
Authorities and scientists have used scent detection dogs to find human remains and graves sites for a long time now. There is a new technology breakthrough that has been created to assist in this important investigation of finding bodies and remains from natural disasters and crime scenes.
A hand held device called "LABRADOR" (acronym: Light-Weight Analyzer for Buried Remains and Decomposition Odor Recognition) is capable of locating buried human bodies or remains. This device is designed an...

Where Do You Like to Read?
There are all kinds of settings in which people bring along a book as an indispensable accessory. For commuters who have a long train ride home from work every evening, a book is often a relaxing way to pass the time. Every summer, magazines publish their lists of must-have books to enjoy while you spend the day lying on the beach. Maybe you are someone who always needs a half-hour in bed with a book before you turn off the light. With the advent of Kindle and e-books, which certainly serve a...

Review of "Dead Game" By Author John Walker
To some, death and murder are sport and the serial killer in "Dead Game" turns it into a contest. Victims who lose at this game ultimately lose their life, all to fuel the killer's sick amusementI like the character of Emily Stone .
Author Jennifer Chase has succeeded in creating a very human character. Emily Stone is haunted and driven, vulnerable and yet strong, beautiful and relentless in her quest. She very much a law unto herself. Her partner in work and life, Rick is unable to talk her o...

Who Exactly is Emily Stone and Why Should We Care About Her?
Emily Stone is the heroine character in my two thriller novels, "Compulsion" and "Dead Game". She has been described as a phantom investigator and a vigilante detective because she hunts down serial killers and child pedophiles - all anonymously and alone. She is driven to help victims, especially children. After she retrieves her information by careful surveillance, profiling, and CSI documentation techniques. She then emails to the detective in charge of a specific case.
Emily Stone came to...

Is There Unequal Coverage for a Missing Teen in California
Unfortunately , I have had the opportunity on this blog to share the frightening stories of several girls and young women who have been abducted in my home state of California. While we always hope and pray for the best possible outcome, those who study the psychological patterns of criminals know that each day with a person's safe return is even grimmer than the last.
Southern California teenager Norma Lopez has not been seen since leaving a summer school class at Valley View High School in M...

How Important are Your Character's Names?
Names are interesting because there is a history to them and how they have evolved over the years. Some names are newer than others like Haley, Riley, Tanner, and Hunter compared to Mary, Emily, John, and David.
I find that I don't think about character's names specifically before I begin writing a story, unless a name just fits a character. Then it's one of those wonderful light bulb moments. I spend my time developing my characters first and then the name seems to follow. I think that when I...

When is a Crime Scene Staged?
There are many reasons why a crime scene has been staged. The most difficult task is to recognize some of the subtle appearances to indicate that a crime scene has indeed been staged. Fires are an example of a type of staged crime scene; it's usually to cover up a previous crime that had been committed such as murder or insurance purposes for profit.
Every detective or forensic investigator must use their own subjective skills along with experience to determine if a crime scene as been staged....

72 Years of Marriage
I research and write about crime and the psychology behind those who commit horrific rapes and murders every day, so sometimes it is nice to take a break from that world and acknowledge a wonderful story about enduring love and commitment. And, a story that also proves the newest technology and social networking tools are not just for the young.
As shared today on the CNN website , Harry and Barbara Cooper are celebrating seventy-two years of marriage! They met in Los Angeles in 1937 and still ...

What's all the Blog About?
A few years ago as I was writing my first thriller novel "Compulsion", I didn't have a clue what the world of blogging was all about. I thought a blog was something that a teenager wrote in an online journal. Boy, did I have a lot to learn about blogging. I remember thinking after I had my blog set up only a year and half ago that I wouldn't have anything to write about. I'm so glad that I was wrong! I enjoy blogging immensely and look forward to it every week.
I've been asked many times...
