Writing the Cop Thriller
Why write a cop thriller? Need I really say why? Seriously, it offers so much action, adventure, good guys, bad guys, serial killers, whodunit scenarios, challenges, and can ultimately take you on one of the wildest rides of your life. Do you still need to ask why write a cop thriller?
For me, I find it fascinating because there are so many scenarios that you can write about. You just have to let your imagination take you there. I've always loved the "cop thriller" movie like The French Connec...

Confession of a Puzzler Addict!
I posted a blog article on all the great benefits of working jigsaw puzzles back at the beginning of July. It helps to increase memory and learning by stimulating both sides of the brain.http://authorjenniferchase.blogspot.com/2010/07/are-you-puzzle-solver.html
I love puzzles – especially jigsaw puzzles. It seems to be a part of my inquisitive mind. After I wrote the blog article and then finished my editor's draft of Silent Partner , I took a break and decided that I was going to work a puzzl...

What Should Happen to Sex Offenders After Prison?

More often than I would imagine, channel surfing on a weekday afternoon will allow me to stumble across a program that has some relevance to my writing and interest in forensic psychology. Today on Dr. Phil, the show's topic was "A Predator Next Door." As always, the fine doctor featured a panel of guests with a variety of opinions and experiences. One woman defended the right of her imprisoned husband to live a life without restrictions once he finished serving his time for rape. A moth...

It's a Match! Comparing Forensic Evidence for Crime Scene Investigations
From any crime show that we've viewed on television or in the movies, there is always that moment where the evidence matches and the suspect is then brought to justice. They make it seem so easy and it only take a few moments. It's definitely more complicated than it looks and the forensic professionals who make that positive distinction are nothing less than exemplary in their work.
The microscope is the key piece of equipment in a forensic lab. It's an optical instrument that uses a lens or ...

What Outskirts Press Had to Say About Dead Game
You have a great story here. I was hooked right from the start. I have to say that it is obvious that you have done a significant amount of planning and preparation in crafting your work. You have really considered your audience in your writing by adding details that add to the credibility of your writing. In your work, your narrative voice is just great – very familiar and easy to follow. Your characters are round and well developed and your plot is very engaging. I have to say that...

Michigan Serial Killer May Have Been Captured in Atlanta
Authorities believe that the nationwide manhunt for a serial killer may have come to an end this morning. A "person of interest" has been arrested at Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. He was taken off a Delta flight that was bound for Israel. Now, it remains to be seen if the man in custody is the person responsible for twenty stabbings and five deaths over the past several months.Last week, authorities in Flint, Michigan announced that they believed a lone serial killer stabbed thirteen people ...

Sarge's First Visit to the Beach!
I've been busy crossing things off of my very long "to do" list and getting ready for a new novel release, Silent Partner . It's been a busy year so far, but I'm loving every minute of it! Sarge has been busy growing and experiencing all the wonderful things that a puppy should, like playing, meeting new friends, and riding in the car. He had his first visit to the beach over the weekend.
It reminded me that we shouldn't take anything for granted and we must stop to enjoy the little things alon...

Twitter Used to Arrest Flasher in Boston
In Dead Game , my second book featuring the vigilante detective work of Emily Stone , the serial killer who becomes the focus of Stone's investigative efforts uses technology to lure his victims. He finds people who interact in a virtual community to solve murder mysteries and then takes the violence from the hypothetical to an act of real terror. As often as computers, cell phones, and other online networking tools are used to perpetrate crimes, there also are people using this technology to b...
