Down the texture rabbit hole

So usually the main page of LJ has links to articles about celebrities I don't care about, or politics I feel impotent about, and maybe some kitty pictures that entertain me for an hour or two. But yesterday I spotted a link to a TEXTURES community, which led me to some small icon-sized textures, and then to someone who had large-sized textures I could actually use for download, which led me to someone else who had awesome Photoshop brushes for download, which led me to look up a Lynda.com tutorial about what's new in brushes in CS6....
Whew!
I still have a bit more video to go. But it's some exciting stuff.

And now I have like 100 new brushes to play with too. (The image above was me testing the built-ins.)

googly-eyed

I've been working on the cover art for Channeling Morpheus Elixir. Looking at the Wild Bill model all day is like staring at the hypnotoad.

Locks of Love second edition

Not everyone can be a prince. Sometimes, though, an everyman will do.

Talent comes in all shapes and sizes, but some talents are a heck of a lot more useful than others. Hal’s particular gift? Talking to doors—a natural lead-in to an unglamorous career of locksmithing. What else would he do with himself when popping a lock comes as naturally to him as breathing? Other than burglary, of course. A guy’s gotta have some scruples.

Leave it to Hal to find someone locked in a five-story building without a single door leading to his prison. Sure, it’s probably a setup, and no, Hal doesn’t relish the idea of being played for a chump. The guy in the window is clearly accustomed to batting his eyelashes and getting his way. But if he really is stuck, Hal can’t just leave him high and dry.

Freeing him will merely involve outsmarting the gigantic tattooed bully that’s holding him hostage. How hard can it be?

This retelling of Rapunzel originally appeared in the anthology Torqued Tales.

You can find Locks of Love: A Modern Gay Fairy Tale at the following places-

Amazon for the Kindle

B&N for the Nook

Swarm second electronic edition is out!

Enigmatic guys are hot. Michael is of the opinion, though, that Wild Bill manages to take it to an entirely new level.

For some time, Michael has suspected that Bill has done more than just dabble in art. As with every other piece of his personal history, Bill plays his cards close to his chest. But when he lets on that a mural he painted before his change might still exist, Michael is dying to see it—and Bill has never been good at saying no.

Only fragments of the building remain, but it's possible Wild Bill's painting is still there. Unfortunately, there's a lot more in the ruins than Bill and Michael bargained for.

Swarm (Channeling Morpheus 9) is available in PDF, ePub and Mobi at JCP Books

At B&N for the Nook

At Amazon for the Kindle

Michael Michael Motorcycle

swarm-300
Second edition, coming August 13

It's funny, I usually make either their eyes or their lips the focus of the composition. But I figured I'd better post this one before I got lost in the vortex of Michael's stubble. Man, I LOVE that facial hair on him.

The Pay-What-You-Want experiment is on

Thank you so much for all the thoughtful feedback on the pay-what-you-want issue. Your responses encouraged me to give it a whirl. If you're curious about how it works, you can find the new pricing on the Turbulence series at JCP Books

Pay-What-You-Want?

I am curious what readers think of a pay-what-you-want model. I've been listening to a speaker who did a payment model on his series, which allowed me to partake where otherwise I would have deemed it too expensive. For me, I give a lot of stuff away, which maybe people would be tickled to give me a couple of bucks toward my expenses.

But is Pay-What-You-Want too daunting? Like, "Eh, I need to make a concrete decision about how much I value this and I guess I just won't get it at all." Which I something I can totally see myself saying.

What do you guys think? If I said, "Here's a 10,000 word story, pay what you want," would you view it as a positive or a negative?
