PsyCop Flash Fic alert
Also check out my new interview if you haven't already!
You got questions, I got answers!
Also, an addendum to yesterday's fossilized cinnamon post. Cinnamon and other baking items are totally on sale now for Thanksgiving. My new cinnamon was less than $1.50 and has an expiration date in 2014. I'd expected it to seem strong, and it didn't, exactly. What it seemed like was fragrant and nuanced in a way that makes my fossil cinnamon taste like dirt in comparison. Ew! Gross! No wonder I didn't care much for cinnamon before.

It's a cinnamantique!

My father (who likes to stockpile things) sent it to me, I do remember that. But, with growing horror, I realized that I could picture him sending it to me in the apartment I lived in WHILE I WAS IN GRAD SCHOOL. (This would be TWENTY years ago.)
Is this possible? Or am I inventing a memory? No one keeps the same jar of cinnamon for five moves and twenty years.
So I look on the bottom and I see the code BJ 30791. What if that's a date? What if it was processed in March of 1991? What if it EXPIRED in March of 91?? Holy hell.
I'm going to the store tomorrow. And I'm buying some cinnamon that was produced in THIS MILLENNIUM. The taste of it will probably knock my socks off too. The stuff I've been using must be mostly dust by now.

New goodies from JCP!

A Brand New PsyCop short!
Halloween is fun...at least, it's supposed to be. Costumes, candy, trick-or-treat, even jaded Victor Bayne can get behind those sorts of antics. Too bad this year's Halloween is a grownup event. Not only must Vic don a suit and endure a disco-obsessed DJ, he has to mingle with friends of Jacob's he would much rather ignore.
Vic thinks he has the party's host all figured out--but as he so often realizes, once he looks beneath the surface, things are seldom what they seem.
(In the Dark is PsyCop 6.1 - it's a companion piece to Stroke of Midnight, the New Year's short)

Have you read this JCP Halloween Classic?
Most people find it tragic if they've got no one to kiss on New Year's Eve, but Martin's calendar revolves around Halloween.
Martin and Dave have been best friends since high school, and still Dave doesn't seem to understand that Martin has very particular taste in men...though that doesn't stop Dave from trying. He announces that not only has he scored tickets to the city's hottest haunted house, Night Terrors, but he's also dug up the perfect blind date.
Martin tells himself not to get too excited, because the Night Terrors excursion is bound to be anticlimactic. Little does he know what's lurking in the shadows.
Available now in PDF, Mobi and ePub at JCP Books.

Floor Food
Funny, when I washed dishes at the Thanksgiving thing one year I didn't notice a flaming hole in the floor! And Puffy walked around on my face and wok4emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm02222222.. ahem. Woke me up before I could eat anything.

Anyway, I did enjoy it. But sheesh.

Just...don't.
Bizarre Channeling Morpheus sighting

Not only is my Facebook sidebar suggesting I used to date the Michael model, we had a rift, and now I want him back... but they've put it over a shot of legendary Dracula actor, Christopher Lee.
Maybe his vampire hunting came between us, Facebook. DID YOU EVER THINK OF THAT???

Plus... he's moved on. (Click on Wild Bill to find out more about Jackpot, the newest addition to the Channeling Morpheus series!)
