D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: review

"Chaucer", Hero Member on The D. B. Cooper Forum, reviewed D. B. Cooper and Flight 305. Chaucer says generously:
"First, the book is a masterpiece. ... Dr. Edwards' book ... strips away all personal narratives, suspect discussion, and conspiracy theories and creates an exhaustively researched book on the facts and data points of the DB Cooper case. It is unlike any book on Cooper. I am in academia, so I enjoyed the dense and evidence-based nature of the book. ... a fascinating, unbiased recitation of the truths of DB Cooper."

D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: a smokejumper's view

A former FBI special agent and smokejumper reviewed D. B. Cooper and Flight 305:
"... outstanding book ... the most comprehensive investigative book I have ever read ... it should be used by police science instructors everywhere."
On the smokejumper connection, he added:
"Mick Swift ... was responsible for training the rookies in 1965. He spent a lot of time with Air America and I asked him what he thought. Not knowing any of the details you found, he made a guess that only one [smoke]jumper he knew could have successfully pulled off the highjacking. This man was a tremendous athlete with a photographic memory. He was not Hispanic nor quiet spoken or the right size or age. I am sure he was cleared as a suspect if he was ever a suspect."

D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: review

Mrs Silence Dogood (which was once a pseudonym of Benjamin Franklin), reviewing D. B. Cooper and Flight 305 on amazon, says:
"... highly detailed examinations and discussions of some of the more intriguing facets of the case ... this book is essential to anyone truly interested in the case who wants to make sure he has all his facts straight. It's crammed with helpful illustrations and charts, mostly in full color. The presentation in general is top-notch. Truly, the publisher went to a great deal of trouble to present Edwards' findings in as visually a detailed manner as possible.. ... [he] does a great job speculating on where Cooper's specialized knowledge of 727s came from. For what it's worth, I think he's right."

D. B. Cooper and Flight 305: a passenger's view

Here's a message from Dan Rice, who was a passenger on Flight 305 from Great Falls, Montana, to Seattle on 11.24.1971:
"I really enjoyed the book and was totally amazed at how much information Bob was able to put together. It brought back a lot of memories from that day.

I thought the messages that the plane Captain gave us were strange, first that we were going to get some turbulent weather, so we had to remain in our seats with our seat belts fastened and I think the no smoking sign was on. The weather outside was great so that made me wonder. Then later he came on and said we have to burn off some fuel due to a mechanical problem before we can land in Seattle. That got my attention but when we landed in Seattle and stopped in the middle of the runway and a fuel truck pulled up, I knew the plane had been hi-jacked and sure enough, that's what happened.

The FBI folks came on board thru the door next to the cockpit and pretty soon we were able to leave the plane thru the same door and down a portable stairway. It turned out to be quite a story to tell my family and friends."

Dan's generous endorsement of "D. B. Cooper and Flight 305" is at 1h27m26s. Dan says:
"My compliments to you, Robert. This is the best book I've ever [read] This doesn't have anything to do with naming a suspect. This just gives you all the data, the information and everything that's in here … Robert is genius material. He explains how this thing happened … This is an excellent book… a real nice job. I don't know how much these are, but whatever it is, it's totally worth it. This is a great book and I recommend it."
