Videos Also Need Search Engine Optimization and Other Video Tips

Photo of video camera

Videos are being used more and more as part of a company's social media strategy. If you are going to use videos for this purpose, you'll want to make the most effective use of them.

For example, when you upload a video to a site such as YouTube, you need to be aware of how to optimize the video for the search engines.

While Yael and I do this for our videos and client videos that we upload to YouTube, I found the explanation in John Jantsch's book "The Referral Engine" very well written:

Mea Culpa! Here Is the WHOLE List of Benefits from Paulette Ensign's Tips Booklet Project

Mea culpa! I forgot to tell you what else you get from Paulette Ensign's genius marketing project when I wrote the post "The Power of 14: Why Paulette Ensign Has a Genius Marketing Project"

I got so excited at the tips booklet's "power of 14" marketing possibilities that I overlooked a whole long list of benefits besides the full page with your own tips, company contact info and brief bio.

Here's Paulette's complete list:

What You Get So You Can Make Money from Participating in
This...

What I Learned From Having an Ultrasound at Cedars-Sinai in LA

Photo of Lego-like figures

While standing in the registration line I noticed the sign "The Power Is in Your Hands." This actually had to do with the request throughout the facility to use the hand sanitizers to prevent the spread of germs.

But it was a really appropriate message for what I believe about Internet marketing – "the power is in your hands."

Then in terms of security, I was asked to confirm my birth date by looking at it written and not saying it aloud – only saying yes or no – for security reasons.  As...

The Power of 14: Why Paulette Ensign Has a Genius Marketing Project

Imagine 13 people besides yourself providing your marketing message to their lists, their prospective customers/clients, their business contacts both online and offline consistently and continually.

Wouldn't you sign on for such a terrific opportunity? I did.

Here's how Paulette Ensign's genius marketing project works:

Me and 13 other people each get a page in a tips booklet entitled "How to Use Social Media to Increase Your Business." Each person's page (which costs only $197 per page and...

Finding the Resources You Need to Help With Your Online Business

Photo of SCQ logo

I have an Amazon book buying habit. Someone I trust recommends a book and my fingers itch to click "add to cart." Of course, putting aside my book buying budget, my time budget also can't always accommodate all the books I buy.

Want to know my latest physical book purchases?

These three were recommended by people I trust: "The Referral Engine" by John Jantsch, "Words That Work" by Dr. Frank Luntz, and "Blue Ocean Strategy" by W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne.

And I bought "Facebook...

Why We Need to Periodically Review Our Online Products and Services

Photo of woman hammering laptop

Above photo: How I often used to feel about my shopping cart system.

I just listened to the monthly Christina Hills call on the shopping cart system that I use for both email marketing and as a shopping cart.

The system is very robust – and very complicated to take advantage of all the features. Two years ago when I first started using this system I would get very upset at how so many of the features were not logical. Eventually I adapted to the "thinking" of this system.

Now the system has ...

COOK TO BANG Started as a Blog and Now Launches as a Book

The book "COOK TO BANG: The Lay Cook's Guide to Getting Laid" launches today.

This would probably not be an appropriate subject for a blog post here. But there are two reasons why I'm blogging about this book launch:

My older daughter Rachel Miller (@RachMiller on Twitter) reps the author Spencer Walker.

"COOK TO BANG" is an example of a book being published following the material starting out as a blog.

If you're okay with the subject matter, check out the book's Amazon page at

Your Photo Should Demonstrate That You Are One With Your Target Market

Photo of woman in front of laptop

The only episode of the television show "Curb Your Enthusiasm" that I saw involved an estate planning attorney whose client came to the office on casual Friday when the attorney was wearing a casual shirt and pants. The client was shocked at the lawyer's appearance. The lawyer explained that it was casual Friday, and if the client returned on Monday he would find the lawyer dressed in a suit and tie.

The client turned and walked out of the office. He didn't want an estate planning...

How to Combine Twitter and Facebook

Picture of chocolate gelato

For an effective social media marketing strategy it is a good idea to know how to effectively combine Twitter and Facebook.

First, we'll assume that you have only one Twitter account and one Facebook page for your business. (Assuming more than that will just make this even more confusing.) Perhaps your business is a local restaurant specializing in homemade ice cream and pasta.

Let's also assume that you don't yet have a website. Yet you know that it is important to stay in contact with...

Trying Out CreateSpace for Book Self-Publishing

Photo of little girl reading

My novel MRS. LIEUTENANT as well as the re-issue of the Jewish holiday book SEASONS FOR CELEBRATION that I co-authored were self-published through Amazon's BookSurge. A few months ago BookSurge was merged into another Amazon property – CreateSpace.

The other day Yael and I were talking about movies/screenplays. It bothers her in films and television series when the main characters never seem to have to work for a living.

This topic segued into the fact that several of the screenplays I've...
