RELEASE DAY for BREAKING OUT!!

It is October 10th and it is RELEASE DAY for Breaking Out !! This book has been a journey. I've been working on it for five months and I'm so thrilled it's out and my dear readers can finally read it.

An Excerpt:

God, he hated working with explosives. The other guys loved blowing shit up. He couldn’t feel the same way. Being the medic of the team, he’d dealt too many times with the carnage left behind after IEDs ripped guys apart. Seeing the aftermath had made him wary. The C-4 they were using to bring down the building wasn’t what spooked him. The stuff could burn like a log if he set it on fire, but it wouldn’t blow up until he added the blasting caps he was carrying… In fact, just one of those blasting caps could do significant damage and set off the entire cache in his pack.He dragged in deep breaths to stifle the rush of anxiety. Sweat rolled down his sides. As soon as they returned to base, he’d email Patricia and feel better. The thought steadied him, and his hands only shook a little while he set his supplies out and paused to check the stability of the stacked crates in his way. Moving them would take too long and be too noisy. He rested a booted foot on one of the wooden boxes and shifted his weight atop it in increments. The lid gave a little, but seemed strong enough to support him. He tucked the hated blasting caps into one of the many pockets in his BDUs and laid the bars of C-4 atop the crates. He climbed the first tier. The lid of the top box wobbled, and he eased it aside. It was packed with rifles. How many were in the room? And what else might there be?They were sitting on top of one huge IED with the fuse in their hands. He reached into his front pocket for his cell phone and took a quick pic of the interior of the crate, then another to document the crates in the room. Satisfaction blocked out some of his anxiety while he mashed several blocks of plastic explosive along the weight-bearing wall behind the boxes.Working quickly, he linked the explosives, embedded the last blasting cap, and hooked it to the timer, finishing the circuit. He glanced at his dive watch. The clock had to be set at just the right second so they’d all go off at once. The steel supports of the building created too much interference for them to use a remote to set off the explosion. This would give them time to bug out and be long gone before the building collapsed.Clicks on his com system signaled his team members, first Hawk, then Bowie, exiting the building. Need to get a move on.The sound of voices outside the door sent an electric charge through his system, and he jerked his sidearm free. With the stacks of crates in the room lining the walls, there was nowhere to hide. If they opened the door, they wouldn’t see the charges, but they’d damn sure see him.Gingerly, he stepped down off the boxes, placing one foot, then the other, on the floor. Even the rustle of his clothing sounded loud. The voices receded. He snagged his pack, which still held his med kit and other supplies, and slipped it onto his shoulders, grabbed his assault rifle, and sidestepped to the window. If all hell broke loose, he’d take his chances outside the building, away from the explosives. Every bump of the wooden frame as he raised the window sounded like a sonic boom. He slid, legs first, out the window, then lowered himself to the ground. The crunch of the sandy grit beneath his boots grated as loud as an avalanche. He froze and waited while he scanned the area. The buildings around him seemed to lean in, waiting, watching. Nothing moved, and he sneaked from shadow to shadow, away from the building and back to his position across the street, just catty-corner to the structure’s façade. It wasn’t until he was under the cover of a broken masonry wall that he signaled his all clear on the com.Derrick Armstrong, aka Strong Man’s signal followed a few seconds later.Fifteen seconds passed, then fifteen more. Cutter. Where the hell was Cutter? Shit!Derrick broke radio silence. “Cutter’s a no-show.”Every nerve in Doc’s body went taut, prickles of concern racing over his skin, all his attention on the building. How the fuck could Strong Man’s voice be so calm? His commanding officer, Lieutenant Hawk Yazzie, replied over the com, quiet, controlled. “Cutter, come in, over.”Silence.“Last location, over?” Hawk asked.Derrick’s tone remained flat. “Ground floor. I thought he was right behind me.”Greenback, Oliver Shaker, the teammate protecting their back door cut in, “Five minutes.”A slight movement diagonal from his position drew Doc’s attention. He focused on the spot, and the NVG-green illumination picked out a shadow shuffling along the side of the building just behind some scrub. A guy with a Boonie hat hiked himself up over the edge of the window, his hat fell off, and his hair, light in color, shone in the odd, greenish glow. Was it Cutter? Why the fuck was he going back inside the building?“I’m going back in for him, over,” Hawk’s decisive voice cut through the silence.No. If it was Cutter climbing inside the building… Maybe… Why the fuck would he go into a building set to explode? Was it Strong Man? If it was, why hadn’t he acknowledged he was entering the building?
He needed to say something to rescind Hawk’s decision. He needed to break radio silence and see if it was Derrick. He needed to fucking do something.

Navy SEAL Zach O’Connor was dumped while he was deployed on a high-risk mission, and the fallout from the breakup nearly cost him his career. Never again will Zach allow his feelings to make him lose sight of what really matters. Not even when his attraction to Piper Bertinelli makes him long for the very thing he’s vowed to avoid.
Violence and heartache have nearly shattered Dr. Piper Bertinelli’s life, and the last thing she needs is to be attracted to a military man scheduled to deploy. Though all Zach wants is a distraction instead of a commitment, Piper is unable to resist the charismatic Naval officer. He makes her feel safe, something more seductive to her than him being a SEAL.
When an overzealous policeman from Piper’s past comes after her, Zach has to make a decision: walk away from the woman who's cracked the shell he built around his heart, or stick by her and possibly risk his career.
And there are other hurdles to face: the family who drove Piper away, but whose secrets may hold the key to understanding why her father was killed.  And someone who’s a greater danger to Piper’s life than an angry cop. The man responsible for it all.

October 19th  I'll have a novella titled Have Wand, Will Travel releasing. It's part of Robyn Peterman's Magic and Mayhem Kindle World. I loved writing this. It starts out in my own imaginary town of Superstition Kentucky and moves to Robyn's Assjacket, West Virginia.  It's funny and snarky and I'm totally in love with my vampire hero.

I'll be sending out another newsletter later with an excerpt and links, but for now here's the blurb:

A soul-sucking wand, a witch, a vampire and a hellhound.  ‘Nuff said.   Private detective and gifted witch Zaira O’Shea has built her reputation on her ability to always find her relic, magical device, or man. When the Witches’ Council hires her to find and return a stolen wand, she can’t refuse, and she’s eager to recover the device. Until the clues lead her to a vampire with fallen-angel good looks, and talents that don’t require a bite to lead her into temptation.
History professor and vampire Christophe Bakas has brushed off his cat burglar skills to steal a powerful wand for the Vampire Council, but only because they are holding his uncle hostage. When he meets Zaira, he hopes he’s found someone who’ll help with the rescue. But from their first teleportation he’s hooked on more than her flying skills.
The more they learn about the wand, the more Chris and Zaira believe neither council can be trusted with the dangerous device. With both councils closing in, they’re forced to go on the run. Only the vacationing Baba Yaga can make sure the wand isn’t used to destroy the careful balance between witch and vampire kind. If they can find her.
Assjacket, West Virginia here they come.

There will be other books about these characters at a later date. I'll keep you posted.

Here are some of the other ladies involved in this October Magic and Mayhem release. Each has written a kickass novella for this.

My friends Marliss Melton and KaLyn Cooper have both released books recently. Both write SEAL Romance like I do so I thought I'd share their releases with you.
Marliss Melton

Here are the blurb and links in case you want to check it our. Love her guy. And the story has military war dogs in it like mine.
Amazon: Master Chief Rusty Kuzinsky has thrown his heart and his savings into preparing a warrior’s retreat. Never Forget is a special place for SEALs to find solace and to heal after grueling operations like those he endured his entire career. Just as his first guests are due to arrive, a military war dog suffering from PTSD lands in Rusty’s lap, requiring attention he simply can’t spare.
NCIS Special Agent Maya Schultz has her hands full raising a teenage son while investigating crimes taking place within the military. When Rusty offers her son a summer job caring for his new dog, practical Maya can’t tell what’s more dangerous—the crazy dog or her attraction to a man who witnessed her husband’s death ten years ago…and claims to see him, still.
But when danger threatens Maya’s remaining family, Rusty’s special gift and his unhinged dog become her only defense against a suspect who’ll do anything to avoid going to prison. With time running out and life or death at stake, Maya has to choose whether to follow her head as she has always done or to trust her heart KaLyn Cooper
Here's a short excerpt:
“Hello, Kat.” Those two words, soft and seductive, hit her like a jet blast, searing and overpowering. She wanted to run to him and have him hold her like he should have done when they buried Ty. She wanted to smack the shit out him because he hadn’t been there when she needed him most. She wanted to cry in his arms and have him comfort her. She wanted to cut him to the core with her words and actions, making him hurt as much as he’d hurt her.In the wave of reactions, Katlin realized that she had overwhelming emotions for the first time in three years. She felt…something…everything…as sensation poured into the void that had been left cold and empty far too long. Since the day they had stood in Arlington Cemetery and said goodbye to the man who had been best friend to both of them. The man she had loved, and trusted, longer than he had deserved. She should have known Alejandro’s mere presence would do that to her. Standing casually before her was the only man who could infuriate her to violence one second and stir her passion to the edge of orgasm in the next. Stunned by internal war, she stood there. Speechless. And naked.

SEAL Team Heartbreakers: What Makes a Man a Good Lover

I'm always interested in the male perspective about things. So, I decided to ask the men of my SEAL Team Heartbreaker's Series what makes a man a good lover? Knowing they could be a little salty in their language, which doesn't bother me at all, I was braced for some graphic answers. What I got in answer to my question surprised me in some ways and didn't in others. After all I've known these guys for a while now.

We decided to do these interviews on Hawk and Zoe's sun porch. The hot tub is covered, but  just a hint of chlorine lingers. The shades are raised and a breeze wafts through the screens surrounding us, bringing with it the smell of fresh cut grass and the clematis that's blooming on a trellis just outside. I love the old fashioned metal glider I'm sitting on and catch myself setting it in motion even though I'm trying not to. I finally just give into the desire and rock while I'm talking to the guys.

Lieutenant Adam Yazzie aka Hawk from Breaking Free.
Just an aside. It's difficult to sit across from him and concentrate on what he's saying. Just being in the room with someone this gorgeous certainly boosts my libido.  Zoe Yazzie is a LUCKY lady.
 Back to Hawk:

"I know because Zoe, my wife, has scars due to a drunk driver hitting her when she was a child, that people might think that impacts our sex life, but it doesn't. I don't see the scars when I look at her.
And she definitely has physical attributes that I find attractive and–stimulating."

He flashes a smile and I have to take a breath.  Those pale gray eyes take on an intensity as he thinks things through.  He's been out in the sun and he's tan and fit. His dark hair falls over his forehead. The chiseled slope of jaw is sexy as hell.

"There are times when she just looks at me and says my name and that's all it takes. So, the question is what makes a man a good lover..." he pauses to formulate the words. "When you're able to look beneath the superficial and recognize there's something more than a meeting of bodies. There's a connection both physical and emotional that encourages you to meet your partner's needs and you get everything you want back in return."

Whoo. I'm fanning my face. A guy in touch with his emotions is sexy as hell.

Next up is Brett from both Breaking Through and Building Ties. He has the most piercing blue eyes. He's let his hair grow out and it's bleached by the sun so it has lighter streaks. He's dressed in jeans and a t-shirt that hugs his chest and shoulders just the right way. He has a little scruff along his jaw.

I need one of those battery powered fans.

"All Tess has to do is walk into the room and I'm ready. But what makes a man a good lover?" He lowers his eyes to his scuffed tennis shoes and smiles. "Tess and I have been through some dark times together. It doesn't get any darker than being accused of murder and shot by a terrorist. And she was injected with heroine by a crazed asshole and nearly died. Jesus, I really thought I'd lost her."

The emotion I read in his face grabs me by the throat and I have to blink quick to keep from embarrassing myself.

"When we first met she took everything seriously. Now when she laughs—it's the greatest sound and it—turns me on. I can't get enough of it or her. I'm gone a lot of the time, so the time we're together I really want to make her happy. So, I think what makes a man a good lover is wanting to satisfy your lady's desires more than you want to satisfy your own."

He smiles again and there's a kind of sexy humor lighting his eyes.  "It doesn't hurt that you get to reap the benefits of that selflessness. In the SEALs we learn a job worth doing is one worth doing right. So, I try to do my best in that regard every time."

I think I swallowed my tongue.

Flash is a blond too and his eyes are a darker more cerulean blue than Bretts. He's just returned stateside from a deployment and has cropped his hair short. It leaves the strong masculine lines of his face bare. He's clean shaven and I have to say he has an almost perfect jawline. Though he's not as easy to smile as the other guys, when he does it packs a punch.

I begin our discussion by saying, "I read about your difficulties with the rogue FBI agent and the cartel boss he was in bed with. I'm sorry what happened caused you to lose your place on Hawk's team."

"I am too, but I'm still a SEAL and I'm still on a team, which after everything that happened is a freaking miracle. Actually, Brett and I are on the same team now but we haven't worked together yet. I'm sure when we do, it will be just like it was back in the day. He's a fine operator."

"From what I hear, you are too."

He looks away as though the compliment embarrasses him, then grins and some of the cocky confidence, all of the guys I've met so far have in abundance, comes through.

"You want to know how a man becomes a good lover." He shifts in his seat and tilts his head. "My fiance Samantha's first husband was abusive. He didn't just beat her, he stalked her as well. She wouldn't mind you knowing that because she knows that was no shame on her. It was all on him. He was a narcissistic psychopath. He was killed when he shot through a door in an attempt to kill her and wouldn't lay down his weapon. He really believed that if he couldn't have her, no other man would."

He falls silent for a moment. "What makes a man a good lover is making sure your lady feels safe with you. Safe enough to explore what makes her feel good and safe enough that she wants to make you feel good, too. Safe enough that she allows you to try different things to please her."

When he looks up, I feel my face growing hot with a blush. And he grins again.

To cover my embarrassment, not because of what he said, but how his tone has affected me, I ask, "Does that include a little Chippendale dancing now and then?" I'm dying to know if he really did shed his uniform for her that first night out of the brig.

"Sam says I'm getting good enough to go on the road with them if I ever decide to leave the SEALs."

At five eight, Oliver Shaker is shorter than the other guys but he makes up for any issue that might cause in pure determination. It's written in every line of his well-toned body. He appears a little more self-contained than the others. Not that any of them are forthcoming with any state secrets. But he's quiet.  His warm brown eyes gleam with a look of keen interest. His close-cropped hair curls against his head. He holds his cards close to the vest. I can't figure out a thing he's thinking.

I start out by asking him how his wife Selena is doing.

"She's doing great. She's done with all her treatments and has finished the reconstructive surgery she needed. Her last check up was perfect."

"I'm so glad. It will be a real relief for our readers to hear that. And how's the baby?"

"Micah's growing like a weed and getting into everything in the house. We've had to batten down the hatches."

"I'm so glad. He's a miracle."

He nods. "That's what Selena calls him."

"Well, do you feel comfortable answering my question? This subject would be especially personal for you after everything you and Selena have been through."

"Yeah. Breast cancer is a fucking scourge." There's anger in his voice and pain.  "But we fought back and Selena won the battle." He pauses and his throat works as he swallows. "I never stopped loving her or wanting her. Even when she was bald from taking chemo and had zero energy because of the radiation. Even when she had no breasts. She was still my Selena. The hormone suppression drug she's on affects a lot of things for her. But we've learned to work around that."

"I think what makes a man a good lover is knowing that being a lover doesn't start and stop in the bedroom. It's making sure the lady you're with knows she's loved and desired before you ever hit the sheets. It's something that can be threaded through everything you're doing, whether you're just watching a movie together or cooking dinner. Making love is more than the physical act, it's the build up to it, too. A touch here, a kiss there, just listening when she talks and showing some interest in her creates a slow escalation that's well worth it."
He looks up and there's a clear conviction in his gaze. "I think foreplay is way underrated by most guys. And they don't know what they're missing."

Wow! He's had me nearly in tears and hot as a sun-baked rock in a matter of minutes.

Corporal Callihan Crowes isn't a member of the team but he's in a relationship with Kathleen, 'Doc' O'Connor's sister. And he's an ex-Marine and gave a leg in the service to his country,  so I think he qualifies to be included in this blog.

His unusual blue-green eyes hold a cautious light as he studies me. He's done interviews with the press and even though I know him, he's still a little wary. With his scruff covered jaw and lean muscular body he's sexy as hell.

He dives right in eager to get it over with.

"What makes a man a good lover? You know I didn't have a clue when Kathleen and I first met. I thought I did, but I didn't, not really."

I'm surprised he's said that. Totally unexpected.

"I was all torn up about body image and so was Kathleen. She'd been shamed by so many people about her weight and I have my scars and the leg being gone isn't really something you can ignore."

He shoots me a cocky smile and I want to laugh out of pure joy because he's come so far.

"I have these friends. Julio and Hector. They gave me some advice about women and I acted on it, then I got so addicted to pleasing Kathleen and getting her—jump-started, I couldn't stop. Didn't want to stop."

I'm mentally fanning myself.

"I learned that my lady is a very visual creature. If I could plant a sexual idea in her  head, it just keeps churning away in there."

"And just how did you do that?" I ask.

"I shared my fantasies with Kathleen, shared the way looking at her made me feel. And I made sure she knew it was her that starred in those fantasies, that triggered those feelings. Only her."

"I'm not saying you don't need good technique to go along with all the talk, but being honest and sharing those sexual thoughts and feelings, sure ups the expectations on both sides. It kind of inspires both of you to please each other."

"So a man can be a good lover if he pays attention to detail and tells his lady what role she plays in his fantasies and desires. But then he makes it all about her. Because it should be." He smiles, a slow sexy tilt of the lips that shoots sensuality straight at me. "Then she'll make it all about him."

OMG! is all I can say.

Ensign Zach 'Doc' O'Connor is up next. And even though his book isn't out yet, (it's available for preorder and will be out October 10th)I had to include him in this blog. He swung by to use Hawk's hot tub because of an injury and I've looped him into answering my question before I clear out so he can get in.

He's very masculine. His freckles and auburn hair may make him appear boyish at times, but he's every inch a warrior.  His Irish green eyes don't miss much.

"What makes a man a good lover?" He narrows his eyes at me in thought. "Piper and I  haven't been together long. And she's had some bad luck with men. I'm not at liberty to expand on that because it's her story to tell."

"She's had some trust issues, with good reason. But so have I after being dumped while deployed and then learning the woman I was involved with, got pregnant by another man while I was gone." He looks up toward the door leading in from the kitchen. "None of the guys know that, yet. I'd appreciate it if you'd keep that to yourself until I'm ready to tell them, if ever."

"I won't say anything," I promise.

"Thanks." He falls silent for a long moment. I don't rush him because he might decide not to tell me.

"I think what makes a man a good lover is patience. Everyone's always in a rush to maneuver their way to bed and get the deed done. Hard and fast has its place too—if that's what your lady wants. But there's more to be said for long, slow, thorough kisses and just as thorough hands. You know to extend the pleasure as long as you can."

I think I've swallowed my tongue again.

Zach's and Piper's book will be out in September.

Thanks to my SEALs, Hawk, Brett, Flash, Oliver, and Zach and a special thanks to Cal for swinging by as well. They are all truly heartbreakers. Because they're already taken. Darn it.

Everything is uploaded and ready to go.  The ebook is available for preorder so if you want to receive it the day of release just swing by and purchase it now and you'll have it on your hot little reading devices or computers on the 10th.
I'm working hard to get the paperback released around the same time. If you're a paperback reader be on the lookout at Amazon. Breaking Out
Excerpt:

Zach nodded. “I feel guilty as hell that I hit her.”“An accident is an accident. And you did everything at the scene you could do to save her life. She might have died before you got her here otherwise.”He offered Gracie his hand to sniff before reaching in and rubbing her behind the ears. He cupped the dog’s bottom jaw in one hand and ran the other over her head and neck.Piper observed her behavior with him. Despite the cushioned wrappings around Gracie’s leg and body, she looked pretty good considering what she’d been through. Her tail thumped the padding, slow and steady, like a drummer keeping time, and she angled her head, directing Zach’s touch where she wanted it.Piper smiled at the behavior.“Yeah, we’re a pair aren’t we? Both hobbling a bit, but we’ll get through it, won’t we, sweetheart?” He petted her for a few minutes, talking to her all the while. When he attempted to rise, he braced a hand on the floor and shoved up with his good leg. Piper gripped his other arm above the elbow to help him as much as she could.“Thanks.” He covered her hand and held it against his arm.He had large hands. Strong hands. Totally different from David’s. By focusing on the differences, she was obliterating that momentary stumble she experienced the first moment they met. She turned aside, afraid of what he might read in her face. “Have you heard anything from the police about her owner?” She closed the cage door.“I called one of the cops I met with this morning. Master Chief Flynn isn’t out of the woods yet. He’s got a fractured skull, a broken arm, several broken ribs, and a bruised kidney. More than one person attacked him, and one had a baseball bat.”“It was a miracle he even survived.” Piper shook her head. “Do they have any clue why?”“No. Nothing was stolen from the house. He must have seen something suspicious and gone out to investigate. Luckily the neighbor heard the commotion and called the cops. He might not have made it otherwise.”“That’s horrible.” What kind of person could do such a thing? It might be a long time before Gracie could go home. “Come to the office and we’ll talk about Gracie’s progress.”She paused outside the kennel room to look down at the bag.“That’s your dinner,” he said. “I promised my sister I’d buy dinner tonight if she gave me a haircut, so I got an extra meal for you. You’ll have to reheat it in the microwave. There’s a salad and bread in there, too. Dressing on the side. Kathleen rescued the salad and refrigerated it so it wouldn’t wilt.”Touched by his thoughtfulness, she smiled. “Thank you. I don’t know what to say.” Was he leading up to something?“It’s just a small thank-you for jumping into the emergency. I didn’t expect her to survive at first. Then I didn’t expect her to keep the leg.”“We’ll have to be a little cautious about that for a few days and see how she does. She’s had a little water today, but I’m waiting until tomorrow morning to offer her food.”He followed her down to a small office, where she placed the bag on the desk and gestured for him to come in and sit down. She studied the familiar logo on the bag. He had no idea he’d brought her food from her family’s restaurant. She wondered how long it had been since she swung by there. She settled behind the desk and turned her attention back to Zach.“Animals don’t process pain like we do, so I’m monitoring her carefully. She’ll be in for a longer recovery than a simple broken leg would require, and she’ll need some physical therapy once she’s on her feet.”“Like water therapy?” He asked.“Yes. And passive-range massage to keep the circulation going and the range of motion normal.”“I can do the massage. I’ve done some training. For humans. Just a couple of classes, but if someone will show me the right techniques, I can do them.”“It’s a good idea, but let’s wait and see for now.” She leaned forward on her elbows on the desk. “How are youdoing? Your limp is worse.”“I’m sore and bruised. It’ll be worse tomorrow. Then I’ll start to heal.”“You should be staying off your leg. How were you injured? Unless you’re not allowed to tell me.”“It’s okay. We were doing a high altitude, high opening training dive. We call it a HAHO. Everything went great. Took us about sixty minutes to reach the ground, and I landed just the way I was supposed to until the wind caught my chute and carried me off target, dragging me along. I tripped over one rock, crashed into another, and got a little banged up. Nothing’s broken, but the bruising is coming out in Technicolor.”She grimaced in sympathy. “Oooo! It smarts to even think about it.”He grinned. “I’ve had a few colorful things to say about it at the time and since.”She laughed.“I’m sorry you were hurt.”“Thanks.” He leaned forward in his seat. “It would make me feel much better if you’d go out to dinner with me, or for coffee or a drink.”She hesitated. She studied his strong, square jaw. “I don’t know if it would be such a good idea.”His smile folded, to be replaced by a frown. “I didn’t ask if you were married or committed.”“Neither. I mean—other than to my work here. But to date one of our clients…”“I’m not really one of your clients since I don’t own Gracie. Or actually, I’m only a temporary customer until she goes home to her owner.”“You seem to have a way with her. She responded to you from the first.”“We had several big dogs while I was growing up, and I’ve missed having one.”“Why don’t you get one?”“I’m a SEAL. We have to go wheels up at a moment’s notice. And we train a lot, which means long hours and sometimes weeks away from home. It wouldn’t be fair to the dog or cat to be left alone like that. This way I can enjoy Gracie for a few weeks while she and I are laid up, and return her when it’s time.”His job sounded like it didn’t leave him very much time to date. Then again, she hadn’t had time, either, since starting vet school. Starting a business and working didn’t leave much time for anything but sleep. And even if she’d had time there’d been…the fallout from David. And Lester. No, she wasn’t going to go there. “And if you get called up?”“I don’t think it will happen in the next four or so weeks, but, just in case, my sister Kathleen said she’d take her. She loves dogs, and she’ll be good with her.”“If she can’t take her, I’ll keep her until Mr. Flynn gets out of the hospital. I have a golden retriever named Trouble. I’m sure they’ll get along.”He smiled amused at the name. “Trouble, huh?”“Yes, and he still is at times, but for the most part he’s pretty well behaved nowadays.”Tiffany, the evening receptionist, came to the door. “We have a woman with a sick cat. I’ve put her in room four.” She stepped in to lay the file on her desk.Piper rose and picked up the folder. “Thanks, Tiffany.”Zach stood with some difficulty. The urge to help him had her pausing on the way to her office door. Once on his feet, he ran his fingertips down her forearm and cuffed her wrist in a light grip. His dark green eyes had interesting yellow flecks around the iris. But beyond the color, the hungry look she read there arrowed down into the pit of her stomach and lower. “I’ll be back tomorrow to see Gracie. In the meantime, why don’t you think about my dinner invitation?”The man could barely walk and he was asking her out. But she couldn’t go out with him. She’d just bring trouble to his door. Although she hadn’t seen Detective Lester around since she moved back. She was keeping a low profile, and there was no reason for him to know she was back in San Diego. If he ever discovered she was… Her throat tightened and her heart raced. If they started dating and Lester came around…Zach deserved better than to have to deal with her stalker cop. She came with far too much baggage for any man.Why couldn’t she have a normal life?An idea suddenly occurred to her. “Did you shave and get a haircut…?” she let the question drift off.He smiled. “Yeah. I wanted to make a better impression.” He brushed the newly cut hair back from his forehead. “When I’m working a lot, those things are low on my to-do list.”She’d been impressed with his focus and skill during Gracie’s X-rays. His patience and care. He looked younger clean-shaven, but she rather liked his long auburn hair and the scruff. The close shave did leave the clean lines of his jaw and lips bare. “I imagine you make an impression wherever you go, Zach. But I’d better get to my patient.”She didn’t want to. She wanted to sit with him, listen to the hint of New England in his accent, and continue to resist the temptation. It had been a long, long time since she’d been on a date. Or even been attracted to someone. The temptation was strong. The threat of Lester stronger.“You rest your hip, now.”
“Roger that. See you tomorrow.”

Thanks for stopping by and reading the excerpt.

A new excerpt for Timeless:
The trail sloped down, the heavy growth of trees shielding the henge from view for a time. The foliage grew sparser and opened into a clearing.
Loch Maree provided a purplish-blue backdrop to the circle of twenty stones topped by lintels that stretched nearly the width of the inlet. A knoll of ground provided a natural dam holding back the water.
Braden led her beneath the crossbar spanning a narrow path between two of the stones. Atop the limestone altar in the center of the site sat her basket, the long stems of several plants sticking over the sides. The edge of her tartan shawl, bunched beside it, fluttered in the breeze. Braden paused in the shade of one of the slabs, a sudden wary tension in his stance.
Warm moist air looped around them. A prickling sensation fluttered over Coira’s skin as though a lightning strike had just dispersed. The smell of smoke lingered on the breeze. Braden’s grasp tightened upon her hand, holding her at his side.
More curious than alarmed, she ran a soothing hand down his arm. “Be at ease. There is nothing to fear in this place.”
She closed her eyes and embraced the power that lingered on the air like mist. Pulling away from Braden’s grasp, she walked clockwise along the edge of the circle. A low hum traveled through the bottoms of her feet to the top of her head, the vibration intensifying as she neared one particular stone. The Ogham designs carved into the pillar writhed black against the reddish light the setting sun painted upon the slab’s surface.
The air grew still and weighted with moisture. She tasted it, like dew, on her tongue. Her skin grew damp. The sound of the wind, the movement of the trees, her own breathing, ceased. Her ears felt full, as if she had climbed a tall peak and needed to swallow to clear them. What was about here?
“Coira—” Braden spoke behind her, his tone taut with wariness.
An area, head high, on the block wavered like something live wrestled within it. A bulge appeared pulsing, panting, as if the stone were giving birth. A shape thrust forward. Coira staggered back in surprise and fear, a startled cry torn from her.
Shoulders bowed, the figure stretched its neck back as though attempting to relieve the cramped pain of release. The head turned. A strange oval structure covering the top third of the face, a round disk covered the mouth with a black piece as thick as an eel attached to it. For a moment, the form retained the gray color of the limestone in which it was imbedded, and then the stone slid away like liquid leaving the flesh exposed. The features were feminine, her head, neck, and shoulders encased in something gray-black as a seal’s pelt. With a wiggle, and a sound like the release of suction, a single arm and hand flopped free reaching toward her.

Archaeology student, Regan Stanhope, lands the chance of a lifetime when she’s chosen to work on a summer dig in Loch Maree, Scotland. The ancient monoliths hidden beneath the loch are the most important discovery since Stonehenge. And for seven hundred years, they have been waiting—for her.

Saturation diver Quinn Douglas is contracted to recover some of the megaliths from the loch’s bottom. The job will breathe life into the struggling salvage business he and his brothers are building. But from the moment he arrives, Quinn is plagued by dreams and feelings from a past he did not live. Or did he?

But both sense something mystical at work, delving into their minds, manipulating their emotions. And when they finally discover the monoliths’ extraordinary secret, they know they must seal them away from those who are desperate to unlock their power. Even if it means remaining caught in a timeless struggle between the past and present forever.

A new excerpt for Whisper In My Ear:
Drew motioned his band members on stage. “Ladies and gentlemen the rest of the band, Loud and Unbound. On drums is Rand Michaels.”
As soon as he reached him, Rand said, “What the fuck’s going on, Drew? You going solo now?”
The drummer’s anger vibrated off him like static. It underscored his unshaven, tattooed, rocker look. His attempts to live up to his own hype were getting old, though. Drew gave him a long look. “The natives were restless. Sam was worried they might damage the club.”
Rand scanned the audience. “They look okay now.” A heavy undertone of accusation sharpened his voice.
Drew controlled his expression, and his anger, with an effort. There was a time and a place for everything. Who knows what an act of violence on stage could set off in this audience? “Take your bow, Rand, and get ready for the show.” Drew threw out a hand toward the other two band members. “On base, Tony Cosimini. On guitar is Simon Fletcher.”
While the men were getting settled, Drew glanced toward the table of women he’d been watching. The blonde was halfway across the room, winding her way toward the door. Her hair swung from side to side, brushing the small of her arrow-straight back, her gait purposeful. For a moment, he was distracted by the lush curve of her jeans-encased hips, and the graceful way they swayed with every step she took. Where was she going?
His stomach tightened. His heart hammered.
She was leaving!
Why wasn’t she affected by his singing like the others? He had to find out. He had to stop her. He dodged the mike stand and leapt off the stage. Women surged to their feet and hands reached for him. Drew tugged free of one woman’s grasp, then another.
A brunette with big hair and a sultry expression ran a hand down the front of his jeans and gave his gear a painful squeeze. Jesus! Grasping her wrist, he pushed her into her seat and shoved past the next two who stood in his path.
His hand closed around the blonde’s shoulder and he swung her around. “Why are you leaving?”
Large blue-green eyes, the color of the sea, focused on his face, then widened in surprise. Her hair, a caramel color streaked with every shade of blonde from platinum to honey, tumbled forward to frame her high cheekbones. Her bow-shaped mouth parted in shock as she shrank from him.
He grasped her arm. “Don’t go.”
A high-pitched sound, piercing and sharp struck him like a blow. Pain lanced through the bones of his face, his teeth. He bent at the waist and covered his ears.
The frosted glass panes in the door shattered, throwing diamond-shaped pieces through the air and across the polished black and white tile floor. He threw up an arm to protect his face and twisted away.
Bedlam reigned as people sitting close by surged to their feet and ran toward the stage.
The sound ceased, cut off as suddenly as it had erupted. He straightened, panting. The aftereffects of the noise had left him dizzy. Even with his hearing blunted from the trauma, he heard the bottles of liquor behind the bar continue to tinkle like wind chimes, as though the glass retained a lingering resonance.
He turned to the door. What the hell was that? Was she okay?
An evening breeze wafted through the empty metal doorframe, carrying with it the smell of car exhaust.
The blonde was gone.

Breaking Out another excerpt, Release Date October 10th!!

The edits for Breaking Out are done!!! The manuscript is in the formatter's hands and I'm in waiting mode for the release October 10th.

In celebration I thought I'd post another excerpt from the book.

Kathleen and Cal are back in Breaking Out to finish out their story line. I could have separated their story line as a novella, but I find it more interesting to write secondary story lines within the context of the larger picture. HINT Both the stories have something similar and run parallel to one another. So you're getting two love stories in one volume and a whole lot more.

Sherry looked up from printing out a receipt for a client. “I have a note for you, Dr. Bertinelli.” She extended the receipt and a bag of medication to the customer and waited for the man to leave. She picked up an envelope and from beside her computer and extended it to Piper. Sherry lowered her voice. “It was mixed in with the mail was delivered today, but doesn’t have a stamp or return address.”Piper reluctantly reached for the envelope. “Thanks, Sherry. It’s probably just a note from a client.” She turned aside to tear open the envelope and pulled out a piece of paper. In bold, black words it read, Have you told your boyfriend about your past? The message drove the breath from her lungs and turned her stomach inside out. She crumpled the note and envelope into a ball and darted into the bathroom off the reception area. Tears blurred her vision while sickness burned its way up her throat. He knew she was back. He knew where she was. And he was coming after her again. She realized she was murmuring oh God, oh God, oh God and forced herself to stop. The crumpled note she still gripped made her feel sick every time she looked at it. But she couldn’t throw it away. It was proof he was planning to harass her again. She slipped out of the bathroom and stumbled down the hall to her office, closed herself in and locked the door. Every muscle in her body jerked and she sank to the floor behind her desk and curled into the corner. She had to think. She had to plan what she could do.As soon the trauma eased, the need to see Zach, to hear his voice, took over. Every moment she’d spent with him the last two days played through her mind. They hadn’t been out of each other’s sight from Saturday afternoon till this morning. They cooked together, walked the beach, showered together, bathed and cared for the dogs, and made love. The way he made love to her that morning played through her mind. She gripped the corner of her desk, dragged herself to her feet, and fell into her desk chair. She checked the time. She only had thirty minutes until she could leave. She called the front desk. “Sherry, I need you to page Dr. Dorsey and ask him to cover for me for the next half hour. I’m not feeling very well.” “I saw you dodge into the restroom up here. Are you okay? Do you need a ride home? Tony’s here and can drive you.”“No, I’ll be okay. I just need to go home and lie down.”“I’ll buzz Dr. Dorsey right now.” Two minutes later, Sherry buzzed her back on her phone. “He says he’ll check in on your surgical patients and for you to go on home.”  “Thank you. I’ll let you know about my evening shift in plenty of time.”“Okay, Dr. Bertinelli. Feel better.” Piper thanked her, opened her desk drawer, and got her purse. She crammed the note into her bag and got her keys. She scanned the parking lot from the corner of the building. Was he here watching for her? The cars in the lot all looked empty. She hurried to her car and got in. She had to tell Zach. Her hands felt slick with sweat on the steering wheel as she wove through noon traffic toward his apartment, but she had calmed somewhat by the time she pulled into his driveway. She caught the sound of Zach’s laughter, and instead of going to the front door she walked around to the back patio. The smell of grilled meat drifted to her on the ocean breeze. Using a long pair of tongs Zach flipped chicken breasts cooking on the grill. Gracie had a squeak toy in her mouth, Trouble’s favorite. She rolled on her back while squeezing the toy, making it chatter like a chipmunk. Zach looked up from the grill and smiled. “Hey, you’re a little early.” He shut the top of the grill and limped toward her. Seeing her expression, he slowed. “What is it?”She withdrew the crumpled envelope and paper from her bag and handed it to him. “This was left with Sherry, our receptionist, today. I saw him on Saturday at the grocery store, but…I was praying he hadn’t seen me. Praying he’d leave me alone.”He smoothed the paper and read the words. His dark auburn brows locked in a V.The dogs leaped to their feet, and Trouble let out a deep base bark. Two men appeared from the driveway, both dressed in suits.Piper caught her breath when recognition struck like a hammer blow. No! The one-word denial caught in her throat even as fear wreaked havoc with every nerve and cell. She had hoped never to see him again in this lifetime. He sauntered across the yard to the concrete patio with the same confident swagger she remembered. Every muscle in her body locked and there was a metallic taste in her mouth. She realized she’d bitten the inside of her cheek.

Cover Reveal Saturday September 24th

I've just had two of my covers updated and I think they're absolutely beautiful. I thought I'd have a cover reveal on Saturday 12:00PM EST (NOON).  All you have to do to participate is like my author page on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/SEAL.Crazy/?fref=ts
and leave a comment about the covers. I'll be choosing winners for ebooks and posting them at 8:00PM EST.

The two books I've had covers done for are Timeless and  Whisper In My Ear. Both books are paranormal romances. But neither is just a straight genre. Timeless has some science fiction in it and Whisper In My Ear has some Urban Fantasy.  Here are the blurbs and some excerpts so you can get a taste of what they're like.  I'll put in some memes to wet your appetite too.

TIMELESS

Blurb: Archaeology student, Regan Stanhope, lands the chance of a lifetime when she’s chosen to work on a summer dig in Loch Maree, Scotland.

Or did he?

Regan and Quinn are drawn to each other as they research the monoliths and the reason behind their shared visions. But both sense something mystical at work, delving into their minds, manipulating their emotions. And when they finally discover the monoliths’ extraordinary secret, they know they must seal them away from those who are desperate to unlock their power. Even if it means remaining caught in a timeless struggle between the past and present forever.
Excerpt:
“I don’t want to see you sacrifice yourself for a ring of rocks.”
“I won’t.” Coira’s promise to Braden came to mind. What if Quinn was right about Coira? A chill raced through her. She shivered.
Quinn reached for her. His fingers cupped the back of her head as he held her close.
The steady beat of his heart beneath her ear soothed her even as the caress of his fingers against the back of her neck did the opposite. She drew back to look at his injured hand. His lips brushed her forehead.
“Are you in pain?” she asked. “Not with the hand.” She tilted her head back to look up at him. His expression, so somber, so serious, triggered feelings of both tenderness and sadness. She caressed his cheek. “Why can’t we get this right?”
“I don’t know.” He rested his forehead against hers. “I’m afraid for you. It makes me daft.”
The way his face looked transposed over the skull at the preservation lab came to mind. She shuddered and pressed close. “I am for you, too, Quinn.”
The soft tempting pressure of his mouth upon hers fed the need for more. As their tongues touched and twined she molded herself against him. It came as natural as breathing to share her lips, her tongue, her touch. His breathing was as ragged as hers as he broke the kiss.
“I need to take a shower and warm up,” she said, her voice swamped by so many different emotions it was impossible to sort them.
“I do, too.” His husky tone, sounded somewhere between a growl and a groan. He slid the zipper of her dry suit down. Regan wiggled free of the sleeves. He cupped her breast through her thermal underwear top, and she bit back a sigh as her nipple beaded beneath the pressure.
She ran a hand beneath his t-shirt to follow the contours of his stomach.
Quinn’s stomach muscles rippled and he caught his breath. “Jesus, Regan.”
She chuckled, hooked her fingers over the waistband of his jeans and tugged him toward the hall. “We can share the shower. I’ll wash your back, if you’ll wash mine.”
Quinn raised one thick black brow. “I can do that.”
His tone promised more, and Regan’s cheeks grew hot and her limbs weak. Her heart raced.
His green eyes, intent and dark, focused on her face. “I’ve had a recurring dream about peeling off your dry suit since that first night.”
An airless feeling blossomed beneath her ribs. “Now’s your chance,” she teased as she backed into her bedroom.
She slid back upon the bed and offered one leg.
A grin spread his lips as, one handed, he pulled first one boot free, and then the other. When he tugged on the first suit leg, the thermal underwear pants beneath went with it. Regan wiggled free of the other leg leaving her lower body bare except for a brief pair of bikini panties. He slung the dry suit over her desk chair and turned to run his gaze down the length of her legs.
Regan bit back a groan at the almost tactile response she experienced from the look on his face.
He dragged the sling from over his head and tossed it aside. He braced a hand on the bed to lean over her and rested his injured hand just above the briefs. His touch trailed downward over her mound to the inside of her thigh. Her fingers gripped the bedspread as titillating arousal nestled between her legs and settled like a feverish ache inside her. His name came out a choked whisper.
“How bad do you want that shower?” he asked as he shucked his t-shirt.
As her gaze swept the width of his chest and shoulders, the hair on his chest and the narrow line that disappeared beneath his jeans. Her mouth grew dry at the dark masculine beauty of him, and she swallowed. “Not at all compared to how bad I want you inside me.” She dragged the thermal shirt over her head baring her breasts.
Quinn’s eyes focused on them, and she ached to have his hands on her again, there—all over.
He popped the button on his jeans and peeled down the zipper.

WHISPER IN MY EAR Blurb:
Injured as a child, mermaid Katrina Lawson has adapted to living on land among humans. Denied the comfort of her water world, she’s stripped of her ability to transform and to hear. But the promise of a cochlear implant offers her a ray of hope.

Drew Saunders is a creature no woman can resist: mystical, magical and musical. With a hum he can seduce women and make them slaves. When he meets Katrina he’s enthralled. But being unable to hear, she’s impervious to his charms. So he must work to build a relationship with her the human way.

Katrina’s doctor suspects there is more to her than scans and x-rays can detect. His obsessive fascination with her, places her and all aquatic species at risk, forcing her to make a horrible choice. Can she sacrifice the only true love she’ll ever know for the good of her species?
Excerpt:

“You smell so good.” Drew’s throat worked as he swallowed. His irises expanded and his tricolored eyes darkened with heat. “I can control some of it, but not all.”
The scent of his arousal intensified her need as powerfully as his voice did the human women he entertained. “I felt uncomfortable witnessing what you did to the other women.”
“Was that why you left?” He brushed her hair back over her shoulder, his fingers lingering against her bare skin as he traced the spaghetti strap over her shoulder.
Though his touch was light, the sensation it created trailed down to her breast. Her nipples tightened. Need writhed inside her, stealing her voice. Incapable of speech, she nodded.
“I don’t force it on the audience. They keep coming back of their own volition.”
“It’s an intimate intrusion,” she managed around the tightness of her throat. “And you’re using them.”
“No more than they’re using me. It’s a symbiotic relationship.”
Why couldn’t he understand what she was saying?
Realization hit her with the force of a tidal wave. Because it wasn’t in his nature to think he was doing anything wrong. He was a Siren.
In an attempt to break away from the sensual spell he wove, she spun away and put one of the straight-backed folding chairs between them. His features, so definably masculine, became harsh. “What is it?”
“Can both your parents hear?”
“Yes.”
“Did your father seduce your mother with his voice? Or was
it the other way around?” God, she hated this frustrating backward two-step preternatural beings did when it came to sharing information about themselves or their families.
“My mother doesn’t sing. Not the way I do.”
“It was your father, then?”
“Not entirely. They’re both...” He hesitated, “...special.” What did he mean by that? Why couldn’t he come out and
tell her?
He turned his head to look at the door. “The guys are calling
me. I have to go change and get on stage. Are you going to stay for the show?”
She had promised him she would. But the need to put as much distance between them as possible stretched and clawed at her. Sirens weren’t exactly known for their deep relationships, or their faithfulness, only for their gift of seduction. And Drew had a strong gift.
If she stayed, would she be strong enough to resist him? Did she even want to?
Yes, she had to resist.
All the things that might happen if they gave in to one another raced through her mind. The good and the bad.
The response he triggered merely by standing close should be enough to warn her off. Her entire body ached with the need to press herself against him as tightly as she could get and let nature take its course.
He stepped forward until his knees rested against the chair seat. “Your scent is delicious, Katrina. I can almost taste it.”
His words painted a picture of his dark head between her thighs, his mouth on her. She tried hard to block it off. A sexual heat raced down from her head to her fingers and toes.
Drew’s cheeks flushed and his eyes darkened. “We have to discover where this can go.”
Her fingers tightened on the slick metal back of the chair, bearing down on it until the metal became hot and pliable. “We both know where it can go. It could be a disaster.”
“Or a blessing,” he countered. “Just give us a chance to get to know each other.”
She closed her eyes against the sensual persuasion of his masculine features, his muscular body, and tried to block out the scent of his need.
If Sid, in his human selfishness, couldn’t remain faithful to her, Drew Saunders in all his Siren glory certainly couldn’t. She needed her head examined. She was probably going to regret this.
“All right. I’ll stay.”

I hope you enjoyed the excerpts.

Have Wand, Will Travel An Update, the Blurb, & $.99 Bargains

I've finished HAVE WAND, WILL TRAVEL. It's 34,421 words of fun and laughs.  I loved writing the novella, had the best time with my characters and several laugh out loud moments with them. The novella will be released October 19th with a group of other authors' novellas. Here's a list of the ladies involved.

Here's a link to an earlier blog with links to free or $.99 books written by all the ladies. http://mymusesmusings.blogspot.com/2016/09/checkout-october-magic-and-mayhem.html

I love my cover. Tracy Stewart my cover artist is fantastic.

My witch Zaira has a unusual familiar. His name is Cerbie and he is a direct descendant of Cerberus the dog that guards the gates of hell. He's a stubby Jack Russell terrier with an attitude. Just like my daughter's dog Colby.

Here's the blurb:
With both councils closing in, they’re forced to go on the run in search of a safe place to hide it. Only the vacationing Baba Yaga can help them make sure it can’t be used to destroy the careful balance between witch and vampire kind. If they can find her.
Assjacket, West Virginia here they come.

I wanted to thank Robyn Peterman for inviting me to write in her Magic and Mayhem World. It's been so much fun!!
Though this is my first Paranormal Romantic Comedy, I have written paranormal romance and urban fantasy before. I have 3 full length novels and a paranormal Steampunk short story (14,000 words) available.

A New Excerpt From Breaking Out! Available October 10th

BREAKING OUT  Book 6 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers is available for preorder. Release date is October 10th.

An Excerpt:

She pushed the conversation away from her work. “I’ve been reading a little about what you do. Do you really deploy for six months at a time?”“Yeah, sometimes longer, rarely less. And sometimes we spend weeks training out in the desert, or days training out there somewhere.” He nodded toward the water. “Or twenty-five thousand feet above, like on Monday. But then we’ll have spells where we’re working nine to five just like anyone else.”“And you can’t talk about what you do.”“Not where we’ve been, or what we do while we’re deployed, or even some of the training we do.”Piper wiggled around to look up at him. She couldn’t imagine how anyone lived under such restrictions. “Doesn’t it get lonely?”“Yeah, it does.” His green gaze shot past her out to the water. “You may want to try to keep your emotional distance and keep things light between us. Six months can be a long time.”She experienced that dropping sensation in the pit of her stomach again. “Is that what you do, keep things light?”“I’ve tried it the other way. A woman I was really serious about dumped me while I was deployed. She couldn’t take the separations. And she couldn’t wait to tell me when I got home because she was already pregnant with some other guy’s baby and needed to move on.”A knot lodged in her throat. “How could she have done that?”He focused on her, shaking his head. “I can give you quality instead of quantity, Piper. When I’m here with you, I’ll be here all the way. When I’m deployed, I have to be there, with no distractions. Otherwise I might put someone’s life in danger. My team’s, or mine.” Hearing his dispassionate tone, the hard edge to it, made her ache for him. She’d seen the warmth of his smile, the amusement gleaming in his eyes when he told her funny stories, the generosity he was capable of. He’d saved Gracie’s life and was using his downtime to care for her. He’d offered to install better security hardware at the office. That hard edge didn’t fit in with the rest, but she understood how it had to be because of what he did for a living. She rested back against him and felt the steady rise and fall of his chest. He was so alive. Had such energy, even injured. He made her feel alive again. She cupped her hand over his, resting against the curve of her abdomen. She wanted to guide his hand lower and feel his touch between her thighs. The ache of need had her drawing a slow breath. She tried to concentrate on the movement of the water and think of anything else besides that, but her legs trembled and she gritted her teeth so they wouldn’t chatter. “Are you cold?” Zach’s voice, low and husky, sounded like a growl against her ear.“No.” She was on fire and he hadn’t even touched her. Just the idea was almost enough to send her over the edge. She turned to look up at him. The intensity of his bright green gaze pierced hers, his throat working when he swallowed, then cupped her cheek and lowered his mouth to hers. The corded muscles of his neck, lay against her palm, and the rich feel and taste of his lips and tongue tangled with hers. Piper’s bones turned to liquid, an exquisite lassitude taking possession of her muscles. His erection pressed against her hip. They were both breathing hard when he broke the kiss. She smiled at his flushed cheeks and brushed her fingertips against his beard stubble. His hand skimmed up her arm to her hand and he turned his lips against her palm. “It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this way,” she said. “Me too.”She doubted it had been three years for him. The pathetic dates she’d been on. The two men she’d really tried with had been in too big a rush to get to the finish line to realize she needed their patience as much as anything else. The one she’d tried the hardest with dumped her after a month. She had too many hang-ups. She was too much work in bed.She truly believed it could be different with Zach. She wanted it to be different. Zach wasn’t a drug-hyped twenty-two-year-old. He had control. He made her feel safe.

The blurb: Navy SEAL Zach O’Connor was dumped while he was deployed on a high-risk mission, and the fallout from the breakup nearly cost him his career.

Thanks for reading the excerpt and my blog. I'm so grateful for my readers. Teresa Reasor

Sneak Peeks of Breaking Out and Marliss Melton's Never Forget

I've started edits on my book Breaking Out   (Book 6 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers) and thought I'd post another excerpt for my readers. The book will be out October 10th but it's available for preorder now.

Below is also an excerpt from Marliss Melton's Never Forget . An Echo Platoon Novella. Enjoy!

An Excerpt:

Zach looked away to hide his amusement. “Why don’t you bring him to work with you? He’s probably lonely and needs company.”“You may be right, but there’s no guarantee he wouldn’t get bored and chew something important here.”“You know your dog.” He didn’t have to have a map drawn for him to see the distance she was putting between them. It was in her body language and her tone. Was it because of his comment about calling their clients?  Or was it because she’d decided getting to know him wasn’t worth the effort when he’d be shipping out soon. For the second time in ten minutes, disappointment lay heavy in the pit of his stomach. “I’ll call tomorrow to check on Gracie. I need to stay off the leg more.”“I think so too.” He reached for his seat belt and exited the car to limp around the back of the vehicle to the driver’s door. She stood next to the SUV, her brown eyes searching his face. “Take care of yourself, Zach.”“I will. You do the same.” She turned away and regret even deeper than his disappointment took root.He adjusted the car seat and gritted his teeth while he hauled himself up into the vehicle. He reached for the door only to find her standing in the way.“It isn’t because I don’t want to do the right thing, Zach.” He drew a relieved breath. “I work for one of the largest bureaucracies in the world, Piper. I know all about how things can get skewed when more than one person has a say. I’m not sitting in judgment of you.”  “You don’t know my situation.”“No, I don’t. Are you going to give me a shot at understanding what it is, or are you going to end things here?” He was grateful to see uncertainty flicker across her features. Her lips parted as though she meant to tell him something.“I don’t know.” She ran her fingers through the long tail of hair that hung over her shoulder. “Come to dinner on Sunday and you can pick Gracie up. I’ll have dealt with other things by then.”  The curve of her cheek and the full pout of her lips was driving him crazy. He bit his lip to keep from saying something. If she was on the fence, he needed to figure out a way to ease her off and in his direction. Pouncing on her in the parking lot didn’t seem like the right way. He wasn’t in pouncing condition anyway.“If I’m going to come to dinner, I need the address.” She took out her phone and typed it in, and he heard the ding when the text arrived. “What time?” he asked and slid back off the seat.“Six o’clock.” He settled his feet on the ground with only a little pain. “Red or white?” “Call me on Sunday and I’ll tell you then.”“Will do. Hey! You’re not going to send me away without a good-bye kiss, are you?” Not a pounce but a nudge. As wary as she was, it was a better strategy. “If you’re trying to make up your mind, you might as well try things out to see if I’m worth your time.”She looked away and bit her lip but he caught a glimpse of a smile. “I’ve already kissed you.” She brushed a hand across her forehead, as though trying to hide the quick color in her cheeks. “Darlin’, that wasn’t a kiss, that was just an appetizer.” His arms went around her and pulled her against him until her breasts pressed against his ribs. Everything south responded with stubborn enthusiasm, like she was naked and he could feel every inch of her skin against his. His mouth covered hers, and she tasted of sweet ice tea and smelled like jasmine. When her mouth parted, inviting him to take the kiss further, his tongue searched for hers. Blurb and Links: Amazon: http://amzn.to/2apD6jx Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/656198 Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/breaking-out/id1141446000?mt=11 Kobo: https://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/ebook/breaking-out-18 Barnes and Noble: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/breaking-out-teresa-j-reasor/1124327225?ean=2940153664323
