Cat Johnson Just released her book May 21st!!!
Here's a short Blurb and an Excerpt from Tijuana Nights:

A Best Friend’s Brother / Enemies to Lovers Romantic ComedyHe's a Navy SEAL. She's his sister's annoying best friend with a habit of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And now she's missing. In Tijuana. And he's supposed to go find her. During his leave. F*#$!
MEET CUTE REPRISE (Heat: Mild, Length: Long)A woman’s voice halted both his thoughts and his movement. From his place outside the
open bathroom window he heard clearly the sound of the water running in the shower
and a woman singing. He knew the window had been closed and locked when he’d left for Djibouti months ago.
It should still be locked unless Amanda had been by and opened the windows for some
reason—Amanda. Was it his sister who’d parked in his driveway and was singing in his bathroom? And
what the hell was that she was singing, anyway? Was that a Disney song? It sure had that unmistakable sound to it.Zach had a sudden recollection from his childhood of Amanda seated in front of the
television with a DVD in the player, singing along at the top of her lungs to some
animated film.Yup, it had to be Amanda inside. Her singing sounded a lot better today than it had back then, when she’d bellowed
along, dressed in a pastel frilly dress and pretending she was the princess on screen. With a sigh, he relaxed, falling out of SEAL mode and into annoyed brother mode
instead. Why was she here and showering at his house, and with a strange vehicle filled with
a butt load of stuff?Shit. Had something bad happened between her and her husband? He liked Jasper.
He’d hate to have to kill his brother-in-law for hurting his sister.Loosening his grip on the club, he reached into his pocket and drew out his house key.
Opening the front door, he stepped inside.Intruder-scare aside, it felt good to be home in the land of free-flowing Big Macs and
reliable WiFi. Not to mention private bathrooms—which he was going to have again
as soon as he determined why the fuck his sister was in his and got her out of it.Zach leaned the golf club in the corner of the front hallway and looked around. Why
did it smell like paint? That question was soon answered when he noticed the walls. Why the fuck was the hallway a different color? And where was the carpet? He frowned
down at the shiny wooden floors before his gaze moved on to the living room.Where was the furniture? And where the fuck was his TV?He might actually have felt better thinking he had been robbed. At least that was
something he could get angry about. But this—this was worse because he had a strong
suspicion about what was really going on here.Amanda must have suggested a dozen times that he redecorate. He’d always said no.
Then he’d deployed, leaving his nosy, annoying, untrustworthy sister alone for months
with his spare house key.Jaw clenched, he stomped across the gleaming wood of the empty living room and
down the hallway. He resisted the urge to kick in the bathroom door and instead flung
it wide with a force that sent it crashing against the wall.“What the fuck did you do to my house?”The blood curdling scream that came from behind the new shower curtain gave him
a moderate sense of satisfaction.Good. He was glad he’d startled her, because she sure as hell had surprised him.“I swear, Amanda. I told you I liked my house just the way it was—”“Zach. It’s not Amanda.” The tiny voice from behind the curtain halted his rant.Brows drawn low, he reached for his cell phone to call the police. Not that he thought he couldn’t take whoever was in that shower stall, but more
because he wanted witnesses for his own sake. A woman who would break into a
man’s house to take a shower might not stop there. What was to stop her from
claiming Zach attacked her?But wait. She’d called him by name, so he obviously knew her. Or at least, she knew
him. With the screen unlocked and his fingers poised to dial nine-one-one, Zach said,
“Who are you?”“It’s Gabby.”He was wondering who the fuck this Gabby could be, racking his brain for some
memory of a long forgotten hook-up who could have gotten a hold of a copy of his
house key, when she pulled back just the top of the curtain, while clutching the
bottom closed. She zeroed in on his frown and continued, “Amanda’s friend. From college.”The dark hair. The big brown eyes. The oh shit expression on her face. It all brought
the memory of the first time he’d set eyes on her back to him. They’d played out this scene together before, only last time he’d been on the other
side of that curtain.“What are you doing in my house?” He lowered the cell phone, but didn’t put it away. His next call was going to be to his sister to tell her to get the hell down here and get
her insane friend out of his shower. He’d only seen this girl—now a woman—a handful of times since that first meeting.Somehow Amanda hadn’t outgrown her college friend and Gabby, like a bad penny,
kept turning up at occasional major events in Amanda’s life that they both attended.
He usual managed to stay out of her way, and she out of his. He’d get through the party or family barbecue or whatever it was by ignoring her. He
couldn’t ignore her now. And he was still waiting for an answer.“Could you turn off the damn water? We’re in the middle of a draught.” He scowled. She disappeared and did as told, then was back, but she still wasn’t explaining her
presence fast enough for his liking.“Amanda hired me to redecorate your place. As a surprise for you. I’m a designer now.
Gabrielle Lee Interiors and More.” She paused, as if waiting for him to say something.
When he didn’t, she continued, “You weren’t supposed to be home until next month.
I’m not done yet.”Oh, so now it was his fault for coming home early. He crossed his arms over his chest. “That doesn’t explain why you’re in my shower.”“Yeah, I know.”Zach leaned back against the doorframe. He could wait as long as is took but he wasn’t
leaving until he had a proper explanation.“I lost my apartment and I haven’t found a new one yet. It was only going to be for a few
weeks.”His eyes widened. “Are you kidding me? You were just going to squat in my house until
I got back?”“It wasn’t going to be exactly squatting. I was going to work here, day and night, to get
everything done in time.”“And sleep here. And shower here,” he added.“Well, yeah.” She finally raised her eyes to meet his. “I’m sorry. I just wanted it to be nice
when you got home.”“Oh, I see. You’re doing it for me.” He shook his head. “You were bad news then and
you’re still bad news now. I warned Amanda about you. She obviously didn’t listen.”A spark of anger flamed to life in her eyes. “I am not. You never gave me a fair chance.
Never tried to get to know me. You should know Amanda wouldn’t be my best friend if
I were as horrible of a person as you think I am. And I don’t even know why you hate me
so much. Just because I walked in on you in the shower when I thought it was Amanda?
So what? Boo hoo, big bad SEAL had his privacy invaded. What were you doing in my
shower that day anyway? Huh?”Something about her trying to look intimidating while clutching a shower curtain had him
smiling, and then outright laughing. This kind of shit only happened to him. The guys weren’t going to believe it when he told
them. It was too crazy.“Oh, man.” He ran a hand over his face, controlling himself enough to speak. “Look,
I’ve been traveling for three days. I’m tired, hungry and a little punchy. I want a cold beer,
some hot wings and then I wanna sleep in my own bed.”He had a bad feeling his bed might no longer be here, but he’d deal with that later, after the
naked crazy chick was out of his house.“I’m going out,” he continued. “I expect you to be gone when I get back.”She bit her lip and didn’t answer.“What now?” he asked, afraid of the reply.“All of the stuff from my apartment is in your garage. I can sleep at Amanda’s tonight,
but I can’t get everything out until tomorrow.”He looked skyward, seeking patience. “Fine.”“Zach.”He’d already turned to go when her voice stopped him.“Yeah?” He planted his hand on the doorframe but didn’t look back, waiting for whatever
she had to say.“Don’t be mad at Amanda. She just wanted to do something nice for you.”“I didn’t ask her to,” he reminded.“I know. I told her it was a bad idea.”Now he did turn to look at her. “Did you?”“Yes.” Gabby tipped her head in a nod. “But she insisted.”Score one for the crazy chick. Even she knew redoing a man’s home while he was away
was a hugely bad idea. Too bad Amanda didn’t listen.“Will you let me at least finish the house?” she asked. That was the last thing he wanted. His knee jerk reaction was to put everything back the way it had been before his sister and
her crazy college roommate had meddled with it. But he had a feeling that ship had passed.Likely his grandmother’s old carpet was in a landfill somewhere. He’d see the old wallpaper
he’d grown up with had been painted over or stripped. He evaluated the situation and decided the absolute last thing he wanted was to have to
finish redecorating his damn house during his leave. But he at least wanted to have some
say in finishing it. It was his house.Gabby and Amanda had created this mess. He should let them finish cleaning it up. They’d
already destroyed his memories and his grandmother’s home as he knew it. She was still waiting for an answer when he drew in a breath.“Fine.” He didn’t want her to think she was off the hook, so he added, “We’ll talk in the
morning. There’s going to be some ground rules.”“Okay.” Her relief was visible as she nodded and clutched the shower curtain. “Thank you.”Christ. Now she was looking all doe-eyed and grateful. He didn’t want that either. “Don’t
thank me. Just finish this shit and get the fuck out of my house as soon as you can.”He saw her expression wilting from his words. Good. Maybe now she’d finish even faster.
Hate and fear—both powerful motivators. His job done there, he turned and closed the door behind him. He needed that beer now
more than ever.

BREAKING CHAINS RELEASE! Another EXCERPT. And another RELEASE IN JULY!!

It's MAY13th and the 8th full-length book in my  SEAL Team Heartbreakers series, Breaking Chains, is out!!  I'm really excited about the book and am hoping all my readers are too. It is the culmination of 7 other full-length books and 2 novellas. But it won't be the last book in the SEAL Team Heartbreakers series.  I have another SEAL team I introduced in Building Ties and they're going to be busy in the next book.  I'll keep you posted.

Ex-Navy SEAL Derrick Armstrong walks out of the Miramar military brig with a dishonorable discharge, a criminal record, and no prospects. The odds are against him being able to build a normal life after prison, but his training as a SEAL keeps him going.
Ella Bailey is struggling financially to raise her seven-year-old son alone. Life has dealt her some hard blows and when Derrick steps between her and another one, she’s both grateful and wary. She views men as obstacles to avoid, but she’s drawn to Derrick, and sees something special in him.
Derrick’s kept his past a secret. When Ella’s ex-boss is found dead and the cops question them both, he realizes, whether he’s done anything or not, he’s living on borrowed time. When they train their sights on Ella instead, he moves to protect her, and in the process exposes his past.
Will she kick him to the curb or will she allow him to build a life with her and her son?

AN EXCERPT:  “Davis Morgan,” he extended his hand.
Ella studied his weathered face a moment before offering hers in return. “Ella Bailey.”“Come back and talk to me for a few minutes. I’d like to take some quick shots of you.”“I don’t think I’m model material, Mr. Morgan.”He studied her a moment, his gaze speculative. “I bet you are, and I know the camera is going to love you.”Ella glanced at the receptionist, then back at him.“Give it a try,” the receptionist urged. “What have you got to lose?”That’s what she was wondering.Davis motioned for her to precede him down the hall. With him at her back, her heart hammered in her throat and her breathing was shaky. She paused by the open office door.“I promise it’s completely painless, and if you don’t like the photos, I’ll delete them.”She should have done more research into the company. She should have looked up the owner and all their photographers. She walked into the office and went directly to one of the photographs on the wall. The actress looked into the camera, a lush, furry top pulled up to cover her breasts, leaving her shoulders bare. She’d seen that shot at the grocery store four months ago on a national magazine. The only way he could have blown it up like this was if he’d taken it himself. Some of her anxiety eased. What was she being so damn skittish about? This guy was a professional, she could see that. And this office wasn’t some backroom porn set.She drew a deep, cleansing breath and turned to face him. “Spectacular shot.”“Thanks.”“What do you do for a living?” he asked. He crossed the room and reached for a camera on a glass shelf behind his desk.“I tend bar.”“Where?”She’d be honest with him. It might help her land a gig. “Nowhere right now. I lost my job a couple of days ago. I saw the advertisements about models on the net and thought…maybe I could do it.”“But you almost left.”“I’m not blond, tall, and drop-dead gorgeous.”“You’re not blond and tall, but I’d argue the latter.” He shoved a battery into the camera, checked something else, then took the lens cap off. “Go ahead and look around the room.” She heard the click of the camera as she went to the shelves to look at the cameras there.“How long have you been doing this?” she asked.“Twenty years.”She turned to look at him, and he took her picture. She looked down, embarrassed. “I haven’t had my picture taken since my last driver’s license photo.”“A lot of people have a phobia about having their picture taken.”She must be one of them. She felt naked every time he pushed the button. “Why do you think that is?”“I think they’re afraid the camera might pick up more about them than they want people to know.”
That could be true. Could he see her desperation for a job? “I don’t have to take my clothes off for this gig, do I?”He lowered the camera. “No. You’ll be wearing the clothing we choose for you.”“Good.” Some of her tension drained away and she finally relaxed enough to smile. He raised the camera again and caught the shot.“What would the hours be?”“That would be determined by the shooting location. The beach, the mountains, the desert, inside a car, inside a building.”“I have a son. He’s seven. I’d have to know ahead of time so I could make arrangements for him.” Patsy could pick him up after school.“Is it just the two of you?”“Yes.” Me and him against the world. She studied Morgan’s face for any hint of subterfuge. She couldn’t be too careful. He snapped her picture. “You don’t look old enough to have a seven-year-old.”“I was young.”“Have you trained as a dancer?”“When I was younger and through high school.” She should tell him about the stripping. If they found out later it could cost her the job. If she told him, it could cost her the job now.“You still walk and stand like a dancer. What made you give it up?”“I had my son, and my priority was him. It still is.”“That’s understandable.”“Do you dance for pleasure?”“Sometimes.” Rarely. After stripping, the pleasure had gone out of it for her.“Walking the runway is like a dance. You dance up the runway then back down.”“I didn’t realize I was applying for runway work.”“We don’t really specialize in that, though I have photographed the shows for publications. But if you get an agent, you could do that. You have the build for it.”An agent? He kept up the conversational style of the meeting, pumping her for information about herself. Some questions she could be honest about and others she deflected.Eager to end the interview, she dropped into one of the chairs in front of his desk. Morgan extracted the digital card from the camera and placed it on the desk. He took a seat behind it, slid the laptop on the desk close to her, pushed the card into the drive and hit a few keys.He picked up the computer and came around the desk to sit down beside her. “Let’s look at these together.”Her stomach cramped and her nerves revved up again. She clamped her hands between her knees. The first shot was her in profile. She was surprised by the clarity of the image. Her normally sharp-edged cheekbones only looked like cheekbones. She was looking up and her eyelashes looked longer somehow.“You’re looking at it with a critical eye of someone who looks in the mirror every day. I’m looking at it as a marketable image I can shop around and sell to a magazine or corporation. But with a little more makeup this could be a cosmetic ad. We do quite a few of those, and the models they choose get free samples. And are paid very well.”“We also take photos that can be used to illustrate magazine articles. If it’s for a nursing home, you’d be visiting your grandmother, smiling down at her with sincere affection.” He hit the key to progress the photos to the one where she was smiling. “Or a restaurant ad, where you’re enjoying a meal. Just another customer visiting the location. But even in those, they want attractive people, because attractive people sell their product.”“So, I’d be doing mostly this kind of thing?”“Yes, unless you want to do more commercial work. You have an Audrey Hepburn look and poise about you, so I know they’d be very interested in you. But you’d have to invest in some headshots.”Would any of the men who’d seen her strip recognize her in any of those photos? The thought grabbed her by the throat. How many would be looking at ads in magazines? That thought almost made her smile. She couldn’t picture the kind of clientele she’d served or danced for cracking a newspaper, let alone a magazine. Maybe Sports Illustrated or Popular Mechanics, but nothing like he was talking about. She looked up into his face. “Why are you giving me the full court press?”“Because you have the look. My receptionist recognized it. She’s been at this for a while, not as long as I have, but long enough. She texted me as soon as you sat down to fill out the application.”Ella pushed free of the chair and went to the window to look out. He seemed straightforward, professional. “Okay. I’ll give it a try. When and where?”“Tomorrow. Here. Nine a.m. We’ll be doing some preliminary shots before we change location to a restaurant in Old Town.”She nodded and picked up the small purse she’d left lying on the edge of his desk.“There’s just one other thing.”She looked up.“It’s none of my business, but who left those bruises on you?”She fought the urge to touch her neck, but her cheeks burned. “My ex-boss. That’s why I no longer work for him. He made a pass, and I dealt with it, but it cost me my job.”Davis’s jaw tensed. “I hope you’re pressing charges. I can guarantee no one will be harassing you here.”“I appreciate that.” She met his eyes with a short nod so he’d know she meant it. “Thanks.”“I’ll see you tomorrow at nine.”His voice followed her down the hall. “Sign the paperwork before you leave.”“I will.” She pivoted and took two steps backward. “Thanks.”Angela, the receptionist, smiled as she extended the form. “I think you’ll like working here. Mr. Morgan is very talented.”Yes, he was.
She made it back to the car before a fresh wave of anxiety hit and she leaned back against the quarter panel. That was way too easy. She wasn’t used to easy. Something would happen to spoil it. Something always did.

BREAKING CHAINS (BOOK 8 OR THE SEAL TEAM HEARTBREAKERS) RELEASES MAY 13TH and an Excerpt

BREAKING CHAINS will release May 13th.  This book has been one of the hardest for me to write. It is about Derrick Armstrong the most troubled member of the team. It has been a very emotional journey for me with this team. And it is bittersweet to write this one. It is the last book for this SEAL team but there will be others following with a new team under the SEAL Team Heartbreakers umbrella.

BREAKING CHAINS (BOOK 8)
Ex-Navy SEAL Derrick Armstrong walks out of the Miramar military brig with a dishonorable discharge, a criminal record, and no prospects. The odds are against him being able to build a normal life after prison, but his training as a SEAL keeps him going.

An Excerpt from the book:
Iraq 2011Goddamn Cutter. He’d taken the Iraqi kid’s side against him. That ungrateful little turd hadn’t given a shit that they were saving his bacon, getting him out of a dangerous area of the city. He hadn’t even wanted to return home. He’d take off again first opportunity he got, and they’d be chasing his ass down again. Damn him.So he grabbed the little shit. So what? There were worse things a kid could suffer. He knew all about them.Derrick braced his feet against the turbulence that rocked the CH-47 Chinook. He turned to Brett, unable to stifle his fury. “We’ll be facing him down the barrel of an AK-47 in less than a year. He’s probably working for al-Qaeda already.”Brett pinched the bridge of his nose. Maybe the asshole had a headache. Serves him right. The Chinook bounced and Derrick swore. With anger still riding him, he only half heard Greenback’s complaint about the ride and Bowie’s smartass remark.Brett leaned close, and Derrick tipped his head so he could hear him above the whomp-whomp of the propellers. “You need to talk to Hawk about what happened or we’ll be up to our necks in shit. The kid’s bound to talk.”Fuck that. “It’s his word against ours, Cutter.” Or was it? Was Cutter turning on him?Cutter’s jaw tightened. “I want you to put in for some counseling, Strong Man.”Jesus Christ, he couldn’t believe it. Brett wasturning on him. His teammate. His brother. Blood rushed into Derrick’s head and his heart hammered inside his ears. This was happening more and more lately. More and more lately he could feel his anger crawling around under his skin looking for a way out. It took all his control not to punch Brett in the face. “That little bastard spent twenty minutes pissing on us and our country, and I’m the one who needs counseling? That’s bullshit.”“Did you get another letter from Marjorie?” Brett asked. The change of subject gouged at his control. “What the fuck does that have to do with anything?”“Every time you get a letter from home you get fucked up. If her letters make you—”He shoved his face close to Brett’s. “Leave it alone, Cutter.”Marjorie said she loved him, but she was busy with her work, up for a promotion, all sorts of other shit. Every time he got a letter from her, she wrote about all the things she was doing without him. Then he started thinking about what else she might be doing… Just the idea of her being with some other guy… His pulse skyrocketed and his breathing with it.Jesus, he wanted to go home. Everything would be fine once he was home.“Ten minutes out.” The controller’s voice came over the bitch box.“COM systems on,” Lieutenant Hawk Yazzie ordered.Derrick adjusted his throat mike, his attention on the other five members of their team. Thanks to the noise from the props, the chances of any of them hearing his discussion with Brett were slim to none. Greenback was trapped in his own thoughts, his face emotionless. Derrick had seen him like that before every mission. Flash had been in a weird mood for days, seeming to be off in his own world, too. Maybe he was also having dreams.Hawk looked over the map one last time, folded the schematic, then tucked it away. Bowie and Doc were giving each other shit, as always. He jerked as Cutter squeezed his shoulder.“Forget about the shit that happened this morning and get your head in the game. Everything else needs to stay on board this chopper.”For the first time, Derrick’s trust lay on a shaky edge that threatened to crumble. “As long as you have my six, we’re good, Cutter.”Cutter nodded, his eyes steely.Brett was a vault about most things, but Derrick bet he’d talk to Hawk about that damn kid as soon as the mission was over. He’d be worried about repercussions to his career if he sat on it.A vein began to pulse at Derrick’s temple and he rubbed at it. But what about his own career?Brett had a family. All Derrick had was the team. He couldn’t afford to lose them.“Fall in.” Hawk’s voice came across the COM.Derrick dragged his thoughts back to the mission, but the anger simmered under the surface like a fever that wouldn’t break.Everyone took their position, one behind the other.Wind whipped through the cabin as the bay door lowered. A crew member threw out the rappel rope while another manned the machine gun mounted at the bay door. The Chinook couldn’t hover in one position too long, otherwise they’d draw attention.Hawk gripped the rope and stepped off the platform. Darkness swallowed him. Greenback, Bowie, Doc, and Flash followed, then Cutter. The rope slid through Derrick’s gloves like butter, and as soon as his boots hit the ground, he dogged Brett’s footsteps while they double-timed away from the drop site.Ten minutes later they regrouped and started the mile-long trek into the town. The darkness was so intense it had a texture to it. Without their night vision goggles they would have been blind. The almost inaudible whisper of cloth brushing cloth was the only sound as they spread out but kept each other in sight. He knew when they were getting close to town because the air hung stagnant and hot, clinging to the rank smell of raw sewage as though reluctant to let it go. They fell into single file again and hugged the shadows while they leapfrogged through the battle-scarred area. Electricity had been knocked out, and the darkness was both a comfort and a threat. The high-pitched squall of a baby close by carried to them. The hum of an engine followed from the east.Through his night vision goggles, Derrick homed in on Hawk’s hand signals. They’d reached their destination. The building housing the al-Qaeda armory sat in the midst of similar structures housing families. The mission was to collapse the armory inward to keep from taking out the buildings around it. Although if the terrorists were really harboring any kind of explosives besides C-4, it might make things interesting. They split up and searched for cover. Three of them would enter from the east, three from the west.Derrick hunkered down in the shadows not far from Brett. On the periphery of his mind he worried at the earlier situation, gnawing at it like a piece of tough steak. What would Hawk do if Brett told him he’d roughed up the boy? He just grabbed him and scared the shit out of him, didn’t smack him around or anything, but he’d threatened to. Hawk had already chewed his ass about his temper. What if he lost his place on the team because of the Iraqi guy’s son?His breathing went ragged on a rush of rage. They were trying to help these people throw off the terrorist assholes, help them build a better government, and what did they get? Nothing but grief. To try and relieve some of the pressure, Derrick clenched his fists until his knuckles hurt. He needed to concentrate on what was in front of him. But it was like peering through a green fog to see through the night vision goggles. He had to get his shit together. His vision cleared when he heard clicks over his COM system. Hawk was inside the building and he reported no movement. He drew a deep breath. The idea that something might be wrong with him flitted through his mind, but he stomped it flat. He’d deal with this shit once he was back home. They were close. They just had to get through this mission and they’d be home in a few weeks. He forced his attention on the top of the building. Through the blurry green goggles, he watched the guards wander from corner to corner. At the first hint of a gap in their surveillance, he hunched over and shot out of the shadows, silently crossing the distance between the alley he’d hidden in to the lower level window he’d targeted to climb through. An itchy feeling between his shoulder blades dogged him like someone had him in their crosshairs. It drove him into the shadows close to the building. He quickly slid the window up, slung his assault rifle across his back, and wiggled inside. For a few seconds he rested on his hands and knees, allowing the itchy feeling to ease and his breathing to calm before he rose. He clicked his COM, drew his service weapon, then in four easy strides reached the door and cracked it open. The hall was clear. He stole out of the room and moved east toward the area he was to wire. At the sound of footsteps coming his way he darted into one of the rooms and eased the door shut. The space was empty but for four pallets on the floor where the terrorists were sleeping. The room smelled of old sweat and gun oil.Two men argued in the Kurdish dialect of the region, their voices growing louder as they closed in on his position.Every muscle in his body tightened. He jerked his K-bar free and rolled back against the wall behind the door. If they entered the room, he’d have to take them out as soundlessly as possible.Their voices dwindled away as they turned a corner, and his tension eased. The heavy beat of their feet sounded hollow as they climbed the stairs. He cracked the door, looked both ways, then eased silently back out of the room.Voices came from the top of the stairs, and he pulled back against the wall until they moved deeper into the building, then hustled across the back hall. His target was the southeast corner of the building’s interior wall. They wanted to knock out the supports on the main floor and collapse the structure inward, so he should have entered the building from the back, but there were no windows low enough to gain entry. His booted steps sounded loud even though he placed each foot as carefully as he could. Standing outside the door to the room he was supposed to rig with explosives, he took a breath and listened for any sound behind the barrier. Everything remained still. He opened the door, slipped in to one side, and shut it. Aside from a table, the room was completely empty. He released his pent-up breath, holstered his sidearm, set his assault rifle to one side, and shrugged free of his pack, removing the C-4 and blasting caps and setting them out in an orderly fashion.Five minutes later he had the room rigged to blow. He glanced at his watch and set the timer. Shouldering his pack again, he swung his assault rifle up and cracked open the door.As he checked the hall for hostiles, a dark, unwanted thought crept into his mind like a bad dream. Without Brett, there’d be no inquiry into what happened with the kid.He and Brett went through BUD/S together. He’s my best bud. He has to keep his fucking mouth shut about the kid.But he knew Brett, knew he wouldn’t. Rage and fear pulsed inside him like a second heartbeat, and a mist of sweat slicked his skin.God, he was tired. How many nights had it been since he slept? He’d lost count. He was a SEAL, and sometimes he had to get tough to keep going. He had to keep going. Tough…Sometimes you had to get tough in order to get info. That’s what he’d go with. But which one of them would they believe? He couldn’t lose his place on the team! He might be transferred to another, but these guys were the closest thing to family he had.Derrick went through the schematic of the building in his head. He knew where Brett was. He had to talk to him. Brett needed to see reason. He eased out into the hall, shut the door, and moved stealthily in the direction of the northwest corner. The trip back through the building was surprisingly easy. Security was surprisingly lax, but the al-Qaeda were in the heart of the city surrounded by sympathizers. Why bother with a guard at the door? This was the room where Brett was supposed to be. What if he’d already finished rigging it to blow and bugged out? He hadn’t heard his clicks on the Com.If Brett was gone and working his way back to his cover, he’d deal with him later. He’d try to reason with him again. If he was still here… He turned the knob and ghosted into the room.Fast and slick, Brett drew his sidearm and pointed it at him. Recognition lit his eyes, and, after a moment of tension, relief followed. He shoved the pistol back in its holster.Derrick put a finger to his lips and pressed his ear to the door. He signaled all clear and for him to hurry. If Brett talked to Hawk…He’d spill his guts. Derrick knew it.He couldn’t let Brett take away his place on the team. He just couldn’t.His girl would think he was a loser. She’d leave him. And she had to stay. She was all he had.His father’s voice, derisive, bitter ate away inside him, “You’ll always be nothing, boy. Fucking nothing.” He shook his head to rid himself of the voice permanently embedded in his brain. He waited for Brett to set the timer.Derrick stepped toward him, reaching for the anger that propelled him here to this room. Panic and regret echoed back.Brett was turning on him, he knew he was. Had he told the others what he’d done?Being a SEAL was everything. Without it he’d be nothing. He’d have nothing. The pressure inside his head intensified until it was unbearable. He gripped his rifle with both hands. Sensing his movement, Brett shifted to the side and started to look up. With a half-growl, half-sob, Derrick brought the stock of the weapon down against his teammate’s temple. Brett slumped sideways to the floor. The numbers on the timer raced on.

I hope you enjoyed the excerpt.

Dogwood Writer's Conference April 26-27

The DOGWOOD WRITER'S CONFERENCE

I'll be a guest speaker at The Dogwood Writer's Conference at Greenbo Lake State Park,  at 965 Lodge Road, Greenup, Kentucky 41144, on April 26-27 this week. Registration is available on Saturday the 27th if you're interested. It will last all day.
https://www.facebook.com/events/2038086056494195/

I'll be teaching a workshop on building 3-dimensional characters and how to stay organized while you're doing it.  I wanted to use my blog to post some of my favorite books on the subject and the writing forms and tools I use consistently when I build my characters.

The Writer's Digest Character Naming Sourcebook By Sherrilyn Kenyon ( find this book very helpful when naming my characters.)

You can also use baby naming books and baby naming websites.  Depending on the country or area of the United States you're writing about this is just one website you'll find helpful. there are numerous ones out there.  This one is popular baby names by state.
The Complete Writer's Guide to Heroes and Heroines: Sixteen Master Archetypes by Tami Cowden, Carolyn LaFever, & Sue Viders  (Love this book on Archetypes.  It was one of my first books on the subject and one I have referred to numerous times.)

Writing Character and Viewpoint by Orson Scott Card  ( Another favorite)

Creating Character Arcs: The Masterful Author's Guide to Uniting Story, Structure, Plot and Character Development by K.M. Weiland

Creating Unforgettable Characters  by Linda Seger

Creating Character Emotions by Ann Hood

Building Believable Characters by Marc McClutcheon

Writing Dialogue by Tom Chiarella

James N. Frey has a very good series of books
How to Write a Damn Good Novel
How to Write a Damn Good Novel II
How to Write a Damn Good Thriller
How to Write a Damn Good Mystery

In every one of these books,  Frey gives insights into character and how they fit into the story.

Story by Robert McKee   Mckee is a screenplay writer for television and movies so Character Motivation and Dialogue are BIG things in this book.  I bought the book and the CD.

MY BOOK BIBLE:
All the things I'm going to post below are the things I put in my book bible. I build one every time I write a book to help me keep track of the information I have about my characters, where my plot is going and the book itself.

Things that will go into your bible are your character plotting sheets. Your character interview sheets.Your character arc sheetsCharacter insightsResearch or the links to online research. The rough draft of your story as you complete each chapter. Notes on things you think about.Your 20 things that can happen in each chapter.

FORMS AND SHEETS:

Since I write Romantic Suspense I have my own take on the Plotting Stairway. This helps me plot the story which is what is going to happen to my characters and how they feel about it. For every action your character takes they have to have a motivation behind it. And their experiences in the past, their profession, their emotions will drive those motivations and actions.

Stairway to Suspense1st step: The hook(the Call to Action.)   Romantic Hook 2nd step: The decision that turns the story. The decision or choice the heroine/hero makes that turns the story in the direction it will travel. This choice is based on some character flaw that guides the character’s motivation toward the choice.  Romantic call to action. 3rd stepThe choice creates obstacles to solving the situation.First Kiss 4th stepAnother choice, More problems, situation worsens. The character makes another choice, which causes more problems and the situation worsens. First Time They Make Love5th stepMore choices, more obstacles. The more choices a character makes, the more obstacles will fall into his/her path.  Gray Moment6th stepThe climax. The greatest obstacles are faced and the greatest attempts are made to overcome the situation created in the hook. Black Moment 7th step: The resolution. It’s short, sweet, and should tie up all the loose ends and leave the reader feeling completely satisfied. Romantic Resolution
I always do a CHARACTER INTERVIEW SHEET  for my hero, heroine, and my bad guy. In order to write about these characters, you need to know them. These are only some of the questions you can ask your characters to get a clue about their personality and motivations.

I also always fill out a Character Grid for my hero, heroine, and bad guy. I need to know their motivations before I can understand why they're doing what they're going to do.

Character Grid

Hero’s name
Heroine’s name

Inciting Incident
Plot point number one. This is an external event. It’s what takes your hero/heroine out of the ordinary world.

Long Range Goal
This is internal. It’s a part of the character’s self-image. This is what really drives your character toward reaching his/her goals.

Short Range Goal
These are the plot points. You will get most of your scenes from these. They are external.

Character Flaw
This must be something concrete. It is the barrier that keeps the character from being who he/she can be. Change MUST come here in order to achieve resolution and growth. This also ties into the black moment. This flaw will lead the characters to the black moment. Without growth in this area, resolution cannot occur. The long-range goal is linked to this flaw.
.
Relationship Barrier
What’s inside your character to keep him/her from loving. This is distorted thinking. The black moment is grown directly from this barrier which is grown directly out of the character flaw. Avoid misunderstandings here, this must be concrete.

Black Moment
Grown directly from the relationship barrier and character flaw. It is the identity crisis, which means this black moment must crack the character’s life long beliefs. It’s the worst thing that can happen to someone with this specific long-range goal and character flaw and relationship barrier. The black moment occurs because the character won’t give up the long-range goal.
.

Realization
The growth. An epiphany. The character realizes the flaws in his/her beliefs. He/she doesn’t need the long-range goal anymore. Somebody HAS to change.

Resolution
This is an extension of the Realization. One of them HAS to toss away the long-range goal and show he/she has changed and grown to bring about a satisfying resolution to the story.

(NOTES) Misunderstandings create a false sense of tension. A misunderstanding that can be cleared up easily with a frank conversation is not true conflict. Make sure the conflict in your story is something concrete the hero and heroine must overcome.

Keeping Track of the Characters in Your Series
I always create a table in Word to create a Character chart for names, physical descriptions and how they will fit into my story. Every character I introduce or mention in my story has a place on my chart because if your character is talking about them you're going to have to remember what they looked like, where they fit into your character's life and why they're talking about them in the first place. If they're in the book, you'll have to know about them. Possibly not as in depth as your hero, heroine and bad guy, but you'll have to know something in order to write about them.
Create a spreadsheet or table to organize the characters for each book. Continue to build that spreadsheet or table with each book, but also create a separate one for each book bible. THE CHARACTER CHART
Name and nick name Physical description Place in the story.

I keep a running character chart because I write SERIES.  And you never know when one of the characters from one book will pop in on another. If that happens, I list the character and all his information in that section of the chart and any changes that might have taken place in their history so I'll know what's happened in their life that may affect how they behave in my story.

Two New Releases, One Navy SEAL Romance, One Paranormal Romance, & a Rerelease

October is proving to be a really big month for me this year.  I have 2  new books out this month!! One is a Navy SEAL Romantic Suspense in the new SEALS In Paradise Series.

My book Hot SEAL, RUSTY NAIL is released.  I'm really proud of the book. I loved writing these characters. Sloane is very witty and talented. And Connor is a complete Alpha male, very protective, very sensual.  It was hard for me to end the book because I didn't want to end it. I wanted it to go on. But I had to move on to my next SEAL Team Heartbreaker Book, Breaking Chains , so I ended it with as big a bang as I could. I think you'll love the book.

A broken engagement followed by six months of grueling work has Sloane Bianchi ready to hit the beaches of Hilton Head, South Carolina for some R and R. She isn’t looking for romance, but when she catches the gaze of a stranger at a local restaurant, her attraction is immediate. But he turns out to be just another guy who can’t follow through.

Karma isn’t always a bitch. Navy SEAL Connor ‘Hammer’ Evans decides a fender bender is a small price to pay for finally meeting the woman who got away. Even though he’ll only be on the East Coast a short time, he’s convinced he and Sloane can enjoy a sexy, no-strings adventure together while he’s here.

Their first kiss ignites a hunger for each other they can’t seem to quench. As their relationship deepens, Sloane realizes she has to be honest with Connor and share the reason behind her broken engagement. When he learns the truth, will he go wheels up and leave her behind? Or will he follow through?

I love writing Military Romance, but I have a little side writing that I do in another genre. My Military Romances are very, very emotional and steeped in reality.  And I love it. But in between my Military Romance releases, I like to write Paranormal Romance to kind of cleanse my pallet before starting a new book.  In fact, I have 7 paranormal books and a short story in all.  If you'd like to check them out you can go to my website at http://www.teresareasor.com  or to my Amazon Author Page http://amzn.to/1j6OYPg .

Hot SEAL, Rusty Nail coming OCT. 16th. A new excerpt

COMING NEXT TUESDAY. Hot SEAL, Rusty Nail. Part of the SEALs In Paradise series.  I'm getting so excited!! I thought I'd share another excerpt.

EXCERPT:
The hostess seated Sloane while Connor stood at the highly polished bar and ordered drinks. The same bartender, goatee and earring still in place, moved with quick assurance, setting up a tray of drinks for one of the waitresses. He approached Connor with a smile. “Hey. Rusty nail, right?”“Yeah. And the lady will have a California white.”While the mixologist worked his magic, Connor turned to study Sloane as the soft light played over her golden skin and dark hair. The sweep of her lashes, the slant of her brows, gave her face an exotic touch, as did the tawny tone of her eyes. And that lush mouth drove him crazy. He experienced the same powerful punch of physical need he had the first time he saw her. In fact, it had never stopped. Just thinking of her made him hard. How the hell were they supposed to scratch that particular itch with her roommates keeping tabs at the condo and his dad’s presence at his house? It seemed sordid to suggest a hotel room. Sloane didn’t seem the type to sneak around for a little afternoon delight. But damn, he wanted this woman.“Here you go,” the bartender said.Connor laid a twenty on the counter, waited for his change, stuffed two bucks in the guy’s tip jar, and scooped up the glasses. He set the wine glass in front of her and took the seat to her left.“When did you start drinking rusty nails?” she asked as she opened her menu.He grinned. “The guys on my team frequent a bar called McP’s Irish Pub. Go there to wind down after particularly tough training days, or to blow off steam. It’s run by a retired SEAL. So we were there shooting pool, and one of the guys decided we each needed to choose a signature drink that went along with our nickname. Mine is Hammer. Since I like scotch, I chose a rusty nail, and it stuck.”“Why do they call you Hammer?”Muscles tensed, he hesitated. She didn’t seem squeamish or thin-skinned. If she was, she’d walk away before the night ended. “They say I drop the hammer and take care business.”She lowered the menu and laid a hand over his. “I know you have a dangerous job, and a great responsibility to protect the people you work with, as well as innocent people under fire who can’t protect themselves.”She did get it.The waitress arrived to take their order, breaking the sudden tension. As soon as she left he asked, “How often do you come to Hilton Head?”“Twice a year. It’s close enough to drive, but far enough away to give me a break from work.”
His idea of a break from work was hiking in the mountains or going camping. He couldn’t picture Sloane sleeping in a tent or cooking fish over an open fire, but he wondered if she’d be open to giving it a shot.“How long will you be here, Sloane?”“Two weeks.”“How about we make those two weeks an adventure?”The consideration in her expression gave him hope. “What do you have in mind?”“Have you ever been scuba diving?”“No.”“I’m an expert, and I can teach you the basics in my dad’s pool, then take you out in his boat. What about camping and hiking?”“I was a Girl Scout, and I did both. I do enjoy hiking, but I haven’t been camping since grade school.”“Horseback riding?”“Never.”The finality bumped up against him, and he decided to try a gentle pushback. “The reason you didn’t want to?”She raised one dark brow. “The long way down if I fell off.”He chuckled. “The key is not to do that.”She studied him. “Why do you want to do all those things with me?”“So I can be alone with you.”Her tawny eyes looked tiger bright with amusement. “Hoping to get lucky, sailor?”“That’s certainly one consideration.”A slow smile worked across her face, and that small dimple peeked out.He fought back the temptation to lean over and kiss her and find out what kind of control lay behind that Mona Lisa smile. He took a sip of his drink to ease the need. “There’s another reason.”“What’s that?”“I want to lay hands on you, and if I’m instructing you, I’ll get to do that.”A bit of color rushed into her cheeks. “Scuba diving seems a challenge, and I’m up for challenges, but it’ll be expensive, and I always pay my way. And I like hiking, but not the arduous kind where you’re trying to reach a steep summit. I’d rather enjoy the scenery and take some pictures. And I might be persuaded to get on a horse, depending on how the horse and I get along. But I won’t camp out. The mosquitoes think my Italian blood is candy, there are chiggers hiding behind every blade of grass, and I have a perfectly good bed in a mosquito- and chigger-free zone, and I intend to use it.”Connor laughed. “I take it you didn’t have a very good Girl Scout experience.”She picked up her wine glass and took a sip. “We aren’t even going to discuss the poison ivy issue.”He laughed again. “Okay. No camping out. But you’re going to miss out on sleeping under the stars.” Among other things.“I’ll get one of those machines that projects the constellations on my bedroom ceiling and use my imagination.”“What about fishing?”“I’m good with that, but you have to clean what I catch.”He shook his head. “Uh-uh. The rule is, you catch it, you clean it.”She moved her shoulders as though shrugging off something uncomfortable. “Okay. I’ll concede that. Although you’re assuming a lot. We haven’t even made it through dinner yet.”
“I’m not worried, Sloane.”

NEW RELEASE!! ADVENTURES OF A WITCHY WALLFLOWER

On October 3rd ADVENTURES OF A WITCHY WALLFLOWER  will be available at Amazon in both ebook and print.  Witchy is the third book in the HAVE WAND, WILL TRAVEL series.  The first two books, HAVE WAND, WILL TRAVEL and  ONCE BITTEN, TWICE SHY were originally written for  Robyn Peterman's Magic and Mayhem Kindle World.  Since Amazon discontinued Kindle Worlds,  I've edited the first 2 books to take out any reference to Robyn's characters. And I've added to the first book to round out my story a little more with some delightful dragons. All three will be released October 3rd in ebook and print. The series is enrolled in Kindle Unlimited.
I've loved writing this series. I hope you'll give them a read.

ADVENTURES OF A WITCHY WALLFLOWER is a paranormal romance with lots of comedy. I'm posting an except here. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

He focused in on her in a way that made her wary. “You really don’t dance?”“No. I have two left feet, Jake. If you value yours, you’d be wise to give up the idea of teaching me.”“I’m always up for a challenge.”Did he just use her own words against her?“Anyone who’s daring enough to try and transport a polar bear to the wilds of Alaska can’t be afraid of a little two-stepping.”She jumped at the chance to distract him. “Is said polar bear still in the hallway?”“No. Gee Gee put him back downstairs in the basement. And after our shopping expedition with her, I’ll explain what she said happened.”“Why not tell me now?”“Because with the lights down low and the smell of candles burning, it’s the perfect moment to dance.” He grasped her hand and slipped an arm around her to rest a hand against the upper curve of her back, being careful not to crowd her or force her against him.“What about music?” Her hand automatically found a place on his muscular shoulder. He snapped his fingers and some slow dance music started. She wondered if he had perfected that move with all the women he probably dated.“Now to start with, we’re just going to draw a box using our feet.” Though they were standing inches apart, the heat from his body seemed to reach out and blend with hers. And he was only expending a tiny bit of magic to play the music, but it was like a force field wrapping around her, shooting tempting tingles down her nerve endings and stealing her breath.“I’m going to take a step forward with my right foot, then bring my feet together, while you take a step back with your left and do the same. Then we’ll go to my left, back, and to the right, like we’re tracing a box with our feet. Want to give it a try?”She nodded, even though her legs felt like rubber.“Back—right—forward—left. Back—right—forward—left,” he counted off as they moved together. “Just relax and listen to the music.”Relax! Relax! How could she relax with every sweep of his magic caressing her skin? Out of the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of the pulsing red stone on the counter as it began to flare hotter. “Jake—”He glanced over his shoulder and dove for the floor, taking her with him. A loud pop sounded, and red particles ricocheted off the cabinets like BBs. Jake bobbed back up to look down at her, his blue eyes wide with concern. “You okay?”With his hard masculine form pressing down on her and his wide muscular shoulders shielding her, she was more than just all right. If he’d move just a little more to the right she’d be in seventh heaven. Her mouth was dry and her voice weak as she said. “Yeah. I’m okay.”The shift in his expression from concern to something more sent her heart soaring.“How well can you see without your glasses, Madeline?”“I’m blind as a blind bat.”He reached for her glasses and removed them. The world turned fuzzy. “What are you doing, Jake?”“I want to see what you’re hiding.”“I’m not hiding, I just like to be able to see.”His chest brushed her breasts, and his mouth settled over hers, soft and warm. Every bone in her body turned to jelly. When his tongue brushed her lip in a bid for entry, she raised a hand to cup the back of his neck and parted her mouth. The featherlight caress of his tongue against hers intensified the tempting ache between her legs, and she fought the need to move against him.The sound of Hopper landing beside them came close to her ear. His deep bullfrog voice croaked, “The house is on fire.”“Not yet.” Jake kissed her again.“No. The house really is on fire.”Jake’s head jerked up. “Holy shit!” He rolled off her and leapt to his feet.Madeline felt around on the floor for her glasses. Hopper handed them to her, and she shoved them on her face and hurried after Jake.Jake grabbed a large pot lid they used earlier and forced it down over the flames shooting up from the plate of stones. It wasn’t a physical fire, but a much hotter, magical one. The haze and a stench like burned plastic saturated the kitchen as the fire subsided and finally died down.Madeline rushed to open the windows and door to air out the house.
Jake grabbed some kitchen mitts and took the plate with the lid still atop it to the backyard and set it down. She hurried after him, concerned for his safety. He waved the mitt to dispel the smoke and flipped the lid off the plate. “It’s out.”
ADVENTURES OF A WITCHY WALLFLOWER

Hot SEAL: Rusty Nail excerpt

I'm getting excited. The book is finished and it will be out October 16th.  I'm so pleased with the story and the characters. My editor tells me she starts thinking about them when she's not working and wondering what will happen to them next. WOW! What a compliment.

I thought I'd post an excerpt to whet your appetite.

She hadn’t felt nervous about a good night kiss since high school, but her breathing stuttered into choppy as they reached the steps. “You can come in for a drink or coffee.” They paused outside the door.He shook his head. “Bernie and her sister will be eager to pump you about how our date went.”“Yeah, they will. It’s been awhile.” A year.“It has been for me, too. Deployments and trainings don’t leave much time.” He eased in close, slipped an arm around her and drew her lightly against him. “Since the first time I saw you, I’ve wanted this, Sloane.”His lips hovered over hers brushing, tempting, tasting until need tumbled through her. She rose on tiptoe to increase the pressure of their lips, and he tilted his head to accommodate her, his mouth conforming to hers, urging her response with lips and tongue as his hand splayed against the small of her back, drawing her closer. She gripped his shirt, holding on as the kiss grew hotter, deeper, desire like a ribbon of heat pulsing through her, challenging her heartbeat to match it.By the time he broke the kiss they were both breathless. He pressed his forehead to hers, his hands moving restlessly up and down her back. “Jesus, Sloane…” His heart drummed against her palms.Had she ever heard anything as sexy as his deep voice husky with frustrated desire? She swallowed in an attempt to moisten a throat dry with need while fighting the urge to press closer. “It’ll ease off in a minute.”His beard brushed her forehead as he pressed his lips there. “I’m not sure I want it to.”She didn’t want it to either. And for the first time in her life she seriously considered having sex on the first date. She’d just met him, but if Bernie and Sheryl weren’t sharing the condo with her…When she realized she was still clutching his shirt, she released it and smoothed the wrinkles, then rested her head against his shoulder, and his arm tightened to hold her. The gesture was so tellingly tender and protective, a knot tightened her throat. His heartbeat eased to a more normal beat, but the way he released her showed a reluctance that made her smile. She swallowed and said, “Be careful on the way home.”“I will.” He brushed her lips with his once more. She waited until he’d reached the base of the stairs before saying, “I had a wonderful time, Connor.”
The golden glow of the porch light illuminated his features and made his eyes look inky black. “Me, too. I’ll call you in the morning.”
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt!!

Now she's looking to resurrect her career with a new home renovation show, if she can get around the obnoxious buyer standing between her and the perfect property. When her competition turns out to be none other then the a-hole from her embarrassing drunken one-night stand, the battle for the property really heats up as the insults--and the sparks--fly. Her agent notices the chemistry between them and decides the viewers will too and the concept for "Hot House" is born. If Clay agrees to have the self-centered star and her cameras in his house for the duration of the show, he gets to walk away with the property free and clear in the end. If Tasha can put up with living in the house with the Neanderthal control-freak during the construction, she gets a hit show and her career back. It shouldn't be hard since the director loves when they argue on camera, which is good since they agree on nothing. Well, almost nothing. They do both agree that they pretty much hate each other and neither one wants a repeat of their one night together. So why does it keep happening?Hot SEAL, Dirty Martini by Cat Johnsonhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DWCSVK7/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i4https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/hot-seal-dirty-martini-cat-johnson/1128906183?ean=2940162021537https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/hot-seal-dirty-martinihttps://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/book/hot-seal-dirty-martini/id1397552061?mt=11https://catjohnson.net/book/hot-seal-...

Hot SEAL, Single Malt by Kris Micheals (October 31)A sense of duty drove Gunner Kincade’s twenty years of service as a Navy SEAL and after his Pops had a stroke, that same sense of duty drove him back to Half Moon Bay to help his old man run his bar, The Wayward Walrus. He meant to surprise Pops with the news he’d retired and was home to stay. It didn’t exactly work to plan. Pops had hired a tiny fireball by the name of A.J. Erickson. Before she’d even learned his name, A.J. managed to sic the local police on him, drown him in dirty mop water and crush his privates, and to his chagrin, she wasn’t going anywhere. Pops had sold her twenty percent of his bar.
After she healed enough to leave the east Texas hospital and testify against her ex-boyfriend, A.J. packed up and drove west. Answering Silas Kincade’s help wanted ad seemed an answer to a prayer. The old gentleman needed her skills and it didn’t hurt they got along like a house-a-fire. She settled in and made Half Moon Bay and the Walrus her home. After the physical abuse she’d suffered in Texas, she’d honed her ninja skills and though tiny, she stood her ground and defended the Walrus from a trespassing, six-foot-four, muscle-bound, hulk. When Silas introduced the hunched over male, the one cradling his balls, as his son, Gunner, she about died from mortification. Things went downhill from there.
What’s an ex-SEAL to do when a diminutive fireball worms her way past all the bruises she’s inflicted and into his unwilling heart?Hot SEAL, Single Malt by Kris Michaelshttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G4R2CR5/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i1https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/hot-seal-single-malt-kris-michaels/1129218891?ean=2940161933657https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/hot-seal-single-malthttps://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/book/hot-seal-single-malt/id1421416395?mt=11https://krismichaelsauthor.com

I'm so excited to be a part of this series amongst such wonderful authors.

I hope you'll check out all the books.

I fell in love with my characters in this book. Their chemistry was amazing, and it was hard for me to end the book. I just didn't want to turn loose of them.  I may return to write another book in this series.... AFTER I finish Derrick Armstrong's book BREAKING CHAINS.  I'll keep you posted on that later.

Read on,
Teresa Reasor

New Release Breaking Hearts & Breaking Through Featured on Later In Life Romance

My New Release BREAKING HEARTS (BOOK 7 OF THE SEAL TEAM HEARTBREAKERS is up and running and is now available in print.

I'm very excited about the book. It's a second chance romance story and I hope you'll find it's one of my best.  But Bowie doesn't just fall in love with a woman from his past. He falls for her three children too.
Here's an excerpt. Bowie buttoned his shirt and finger-combed his hair one last time. The black slacks and button-up, long-sleeve white dress shirt seemed the best way to go. The black tie with tiny silver-gray diamonds woven into the fabric was conservative but dressy. A gray blazer made it a classic look. He threw his jacket over his arm and checked that he had his wallet and keys.Wary of dropping the girls off at the apartment and leaving them, he’d swung by the super’s apartment, talked to him about a new door lock and deadbolt, and got him on board. The super promised to install it tomorrow morning.Alayna opened the door, and he was struck her flawless skin and flushed cheeks. In that pale green dress and off-white heels, she looked cool and classy. She’d braided her hair into a rope and looped it into a figure eight at the nape of her neck.“You look beautiful,” Bowie murmured as he leaned forward to brush her cheek with his lips.“So do you,” she whispered. He flashed her a smile. “That’s handsome, sweetheart.”“I have to get Rosa’s shoes on and I’ll be done. Have a seat.”Emilia sat on the couch crumpling her dress at the sides over and over.Bowie sat down next to her. “What is it, Em?”“Someone broke in and broke my toys and my piggy bank and stole my money. All mom found was a little change.”“How much do you think you had in the bank?”“Over twenty dollars. I helped Rosa and Addie clean up their toys, and sometimes brushed their hair and put on their shoes. Mom paid me a quarter every time. Then she took me to the bank, and we changed the coins to five-dollar bills. She said all she found was thirty cents.”He’d been with Alayna when she picked the coins up off the floor. If Aaron Harper had really broken in and trashed the apartment like the police thought he had, he was a fucking asshole. If he stole his child’s money, that made him a fucking slimy bastard on top of it.“If I had the twenty dollars, I’d give it to momma to buy Rosa and Addie’s toys back.”She sounded so grown-up, and so sad. If Aaron Harper had been in the room, Bowie would have punched his face in. “What about your toys?”“I like to watch movies and read books. They didn’t tear up many of my movies, and I go to the library at school to get books.”“You’re a good sister for looking after them, Em.” He tucked a blond strand of hair fine as corn silk behind her ear. “Do you know what insurance is?”She shook her head.“Insurance is something you pay for every month, to fix your car if you have an accident, or replace the contents of your house or apartment if you have a fire or break-in. Your mom will fill out a paper explaining to the insurance company what happened, and they’ll give her some money to buy some of the things back.”“Do you think mom could get me a Beauty and the Beast movie?”“I bet she will if you ask her.” If he didn’t get it before then.“They tore up my clothes. They must not have a little girl like me.” It was hard for Bowie to swallow past the lump in his throat. “Someone who rips apart your clothes and steals your money doesn’t deserve a little girl like you.”

THE BLURB: SEAL Lieutenant Bowie Rivera may have trouble recognizing the many women he’s dated in the past, but when he spots the woman who broke his heart ten years ago, his feelings come rushing back. After a brief, awkward exchange, he tries to escape until three men in a van attempt to abduct her right in front of him.
Running into Bowie Rivera is the last thing Alayna Wieland expects. She searched for him for years, then tried to move on with her life, but never recovered from losing him. And now she has too much baggage to deserve another chance.
Alayna’s ex-husband embezzled millions from not one, but several criminal organizations, telling them Alayna has the info they need to recover the money. With her and her young daughters in the crosshairs, Bowie steps in to keep them safe.
The cops decide to use her and the children as bait to capture her ex. But her ex has plans...plans that may cost them the second chance both she and Bowie long for...and much, much more.
