New RELEASE!! Deep Within the Mind May 24, 2022
I'm so thrilled to announce the upcoming release of my third book in the paranormal romantic suspense Superstition Series. The book will be out May 24th. This book is chocked full of all the suspense and paranormal elements I could pack into it.
I love writing paranormal books because they give me an opportunity to allow my imagination to run free. Tack on a romance and some nail-biting suspense and you've got a combination of elements that create the perfect story. I hope when you read Deep Within the Mind you'll think I succeeded in that. I loved writing the book.

Here's the blurb:
Superstition, Kentucky harbors the largest supernatural population in the state. Mythical creatures and people with unusual abilities rub shoulders with average men and women in the small mountain town.
Vet Harper Montgomery has a secret. She’s a powerful psychic who hides behind her professional persona—until she has a vision of a child being abducted and rescues her. When she starts experiencing more unusual visions and reports them, she captures a Superstition police detective’s interest.
Detective Miles Barrett is new to Superstition, Kentucky, and unaware of the hidden part of the population he serves, until he meets Harper. He doesn’t believe in her ability, but he’s searching for a monster who’s already killed four women while leaving behind almost no evidence, so he’s willing to give Harper a chance.
For the first time in her life, Harper is having more and more trouble controlling her gift, until she realizes she’s under attack by an evil too powerful to comprehend.
Here's an excerpt:
Harper ambled toward the front of the house and debated about how to relax into what she was about to do. With animals there was no risk in opening herself. They didn’t direct hatred, violent thoughts, or ill will toward her when she touched them. She could read their pain, their fear, their physical feelings of sickness, but their intellect worked in a different way.
With people it was different. Or was it because she was human herself and on the same wavelength? However it worked, she keyed into thoughts, feelings and undercurrents in a way she found uncomfortable. She couldn’t read everyone, but more than she liked. She didn’t want to know the intimate thoughts or feelings of the people around her. Or flash on details of their lives. It was uncomfortable and unethical. A breach of their privacy.
And now she needed to relax the strict code she’d lived by for so long and purposely open herself to something…evil. Goose bumps broke out on her arms, and she rubbed them.Whoever this murderer was, he couldn’t hurt her. He didn’t know she was hunting him. He couldn’t know it. She was just searching for clues. She could do this.
Her breathing hitched and she was trembling. She stopped before the porch steps, took several deep breaths, and imagined opening the door inside her. With the release of her shield the world blurred a moment, then popped back into sharp focus. Snatches of conversation, thoughts, feelings from people in the neighboring houses rushed in. Harper closed her eyes and covered her ears as she struggled to limit the field of her reception. She imagined closing the opening to a crack at the bottom of a very small window and the ambient noise eased.
She opened her eyes just as a figure, blurred and insubstantial, dressed in a dark long-sleeved shirt and jeans walked past her. A baseball cap was pulled down low over his eyes, and he gripped the handle of his toolbox in a gloved fist. She followed him past the front porch and moved along the side of the house. He was tall, but kept his head down so she couldn’t see his face or even the color of his hair. He reached the detached garage and went to the side door.
After placing the toolbox on the ground he removed a flat piece of plastic or metal, shoved it between the door frame and the latch, and the door opened. She tried to follow him but was stopped by the locked garage door. She looked down into the tool box he left beside the door. A tiny battery-powered drill lay in among several other tools. But he wasn’t going to need it because he found the key.
“He came here several days before, when the neighbors were gone. He has a kind of drill that he uses on the windows, but he doesn’t use it here. He forces open the side door to the garage and finds the key she keeps there. He plans to make a copy, then return it before she gets home.”
She continued around the edge of the yard as thoughts and feelings continued to rush into her mind. “He thinks of killing the dog but instead decides to use it to his advantage.”
Miles spoke softly. “What do you mean, Harper?”
“She loves the dog. She’ll be easier to control if he threatens the dog.”
They circled to the other side of the yard. She looked across the street at an uncleared lot tangled with trees and underbrush. “He parks somewhere else and walks into the brush across the street. He has a special spot where he sits to watch. It’s close to a cluster of wild hedges. He uses binoculars. He goes across the street and peeks into her windows sometimes, but the dog always barks, and he has to leave.”She turned toward the front of the house and once again saw the killer from the back, this time using the key. “He goes into the house several times to memorize the layout and to check for weapons. He doesn’t want any surprises. Finding the child in the closet the last time has made him cautious.”
She climbed the stairs to the front door and waited for Detective Carver to cut the crime scene seal around it. He turned the knob and shoved the door open, freeing a wave of building sexual excitement and a kind of desperation that made her stomach turn. She grabbed the door frame to steady herself.
“She’s on the back porch when he lets himself in. He has a gym bag with him.” Harper followed the shadow figure. He paused by a table close to the front door to pick up some keys, then continued through the living room. He stopped in the wide case opening to the kitchen to look toward the back door. Harper turned to look down the hallway toward the bedrooms but he didn’t go that way. Instead, he moved to a door in the kitchen. She caught a glimpse of Skylar’s car as he stepped into the garage and shut the door. “He hides in the garage and waits until he hears her come in with the dog.
“Skylar goes through the kitchen and down the hall to bedroom. She opens her bedroom door to go in, but Razor trembles and growls. She turns to look over her shoulder—and he’s there, behind her.”
The killer’s hoarse, whispered threats as he pressed the knife into her side seemed directed at Harper, and her muscles tightened and she jerked. “He threatens to stomp the dog to death if she doesn’t cooperate, then kicks Razor into the bedroom and shuts the door.
“Next he forces her through the kitchen and into the garage. He has the keys to her car, which were in the living room next to her purse.”
She moved forward through the kitchen to the garage and opened the door. She stepped into the space, and although no car was there, she saw one. “His case is there.” She points to an area next to the door. “He picks it up and forces her to the rear of the car, where he covers her mouth and binds her wrists with duct tape and puts her in the trunk, then binds her ankles. He gets into the car with his bag. He won’t need it here, but he’ll need it where he’s taking her.” The man’s need and sexual arousal were strong inside the garage. She felt queasy, and pressed a hand to her mouth.
She looked up at Miles, but she wasn’t seeing him. “I need one of you to get the car. I may be able to track their route.”
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt!!

THE BEAUTY…
Like Michelangelo, gifted sculptor Genevieve Warren believes her purpose is to set free the beings she can sense trapped inside the stone she carves. But she’s never had a sculpture speak to her like the rare 14th century gargoyle left out in the elements to crumble in a castle garden. Because of Scottish antiquity law, she can’t buy him, but she leases him and has him shipped home. However, she’s left to wonder why his owners are so eager to get rid of part of their history.
THE BEAST…
Finlay MacLeod has spent centuries as a monster. Stone by day and beast at night, he craves an escape from the endless loneliness of his existence. When Genevieve cares for the stone sculpture as though he’s real, he hopes he’s found someone who will care for the monster imprisoned inside it, too… and help him end his suffering. But first he must reveal to her he’s alive.
THE CURSE…
Genevieve becomes aware there are mystical things afoot when she’s told dark magic surrounds the sculpture she’s imported. The reality of what she’s welcomed into her life is more fantastic and compelling than anything she could have imagined.
But there’s more than one kind of monster prowling the hills and valleys of Superstition. One has decided that only Genevieve can feed his many hungers. He’s watching, waiting, and moving closer every moment.

New Release in the SEALS In Paradise Series Hot SEAL, Under Pressure by Cat Johnson And other News
Hello Dear Readers!! I wanted to bring you up to speed on several things going on in my writing life. This year started out with a bumpy ride for family, but after two months of stressful things disrupting my schedule, everything smoothed out and I have just finished my third book in my paranormal Superstition Series Deep Within The Mind.
It is 85,000 words of Romantic Suspense.

For the first time in her life, Harper is having more and more trouble controlling her gift, until she realizes she’s under attack by an evil too powerful to comprehend.
It's a wild ride and it was a wild ride to write as well and a little creepy.
I'm hoping for an middle May release with this one. I'll keep you posted.
I write for a series called SEALS In PARADISE along with a wonderful group of other authors. For the last three years we've released books in the series.
Cat Johnson is kicking off this season of SEALS In PARADISE books with Hot SEAL, Under Pressure. It is releasing April 26th!!!

Amazon / B&N / Apple / Kobo / Google Play
He thought he knew pressure, until he was coerced into doing a reality show that pairs Navy SEALs with civilians in a no-hold-barred contest for a huge cash prize.
But more than the prize money. His honor is on the line. He'll be damned if he'll be bested by the competition, even if the sexy female civilian he's been paired with is hopeless at shooting, and sky diving, and fast roping, and the obstacle course.
And even if there's no chance in hell he'll be able to make it to the end without giving in to his attraction to her.
There's entirely too much touching. Too close quarters. And she looks way too good when she's failing so spectacularly at the challenges.
It's almost enough to make him not care about losing the game, as long as he can have her.
There are 36 books in this series so if you're interested you can check them all out at Paradise Authors on Amazon.
This season's books are all available for preorder
Hot SEAL, Wild Thing Delilah Devlin (May 24, 2022)

MORE NEWS
My friend and fellow author Abigail Keam has a new book out as of April 18th!!! I've read the whole Josiah Reynolds Series and love them.

Josiah Reynolds is hitching Morning Glory, her American Paint Horse, to an antique pony cart when horse whisperer, Velvet Maddox, hurries over to them. Pointing a thin, crooked finger at Josiah, she announces that Josiah can’t participate in the annual Shawnee Trace Horse Parade. “I see death standing next to your horse. Beware, Josiah. Beware.”
Startled, Josiah is worried as Miss Velvet is never wrong about such things, but decides to plunge ahead. Surely this time Velvet is mistaken. No one can see death. The event goes off without a hitch until spectators surge forward onto the parade route and surround the horses, causing them to spook. Morning Glory rears up and the pony cart runs over something. Josiah stops her horse immediately and peers over the side of her cart.
There is a shoeless leg sticking out from underneath the cart. Josiah realizes that Miss Velvet was correct. Death was, indeed, hovering near her horse.
I'll be sending out another blog as soon as Deep Within the Mind has a firm release date.
Thanks so much for your readership. I really appreciate each and every one of you.

Here's the Blurb:
Robert Farley is now a bonafide duke, and solicitors from the Duchy of Brynelleth have come to negotiate his marriage contract to Mona Moon. When the three solicitors demand that Mona relinquish Moon Enterprises and live in England full time, she threatens to give Robert back his engagement ring and call off the wedding.
She says quite frankly, “I’m not going to give up one of the largest mining conglomerates in the world just so I can host dinner parties at Brynelleth for your snotty friends.”
Robert, caught between the responsibilities demanded by Brynelleth and his deep love for Mona, is furious with his solicitors for not being more diplomatic. However, the matter resolves itself when the three English solicitors are caught visiting the notorious bawdy house of Belle Brezing, the most famous madam in the South.
Ooops! Events are made worse when one of them turns up dead in the bed of a lady-of-the-evening.
Now Mona and Robert must find the culprit before their reputations are torn to shreds by their enemies. Fast-moving events threaten to turn Mona’s world upside-down as she is confronted with seemingly impossible decisions to make.
Should she marry Robert Farley or not?
Here's an excerpt:
“I must keep my family name,” Mona declared.
“You will, miss. Madeline Mona Moon Farley, Duchess of Brynelleth,” the English solicitor replied.
Mona tapped a finger on the conference table. “Mr. Dankworth, I don’t think you understand. According to my uncle’s will, I and my children must keep our last name legally Moon or we lose everything. We will be cast aside.”
The chief solicitor looked aghast. “But Miss Moon, you will be a duchess. Your children will be in line to the English throne.”
“That is such poppycock. I care nothing about being a duchess, and my children becoming king or queen of Great Britain is about as likely as me living on the moon. What I care about is being in control of Moon Enterprises. Moon Enterprises is worth twenty times that of the Brynelleth estate.”
The main solicitor tore off his pince-nez in frustration. A whiff of his cologne drifted across the room. Some of it must have spilled on his waistcoat in which a pocket watch was tucked away. This was not the type of man to wear a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso wristwatch or believe in central heating. “Miss Moon, I don’t think you understand the gravity of becoming the wife of His Grace, Duke of Brynelleth. By doing what you propose, you will make His Grace the laughing stock of England. You will not even be in the United States to tend to Moon Enterprises. You’ll be residing in England.”
“Sir, I don’t think you understand the gravity of running Moon Enterprises. I have thousands of employees working for me, not to mention thousands of acres of land to manage. Moon Enterprises brings in millions of dollars every year to be dispensed to these workers and invested back into the company. How much does Brynelleth bring in? How many workers does Brynelleth have? Maybe a hundred at its height, not to mention that Brynelleth is in debt up to its neck. While Moon Enterprises is mining copper and other ores for the industrial might of the United States, Brynelleth is planting turnips.”
Mr. Dankworth slammed shut his file and stood up. Motioning to his staff of two, he stormed out of the Moon conference room in Dexter Deatherage’s office located in the new Moon office building on Main Street in Lexington, Kentucky.Dexter shot a glaring look at Mona. “That went well.”
“I noticed you didn’t run after them to smooth things out.”
“I can’t stand those upper class English snobs. They make my teeth ache.”
Mona laughed. “You must remember we are going against a thousand years of tradition with those chaps. They still refer to us as those rebellious colonists and expect me to curtsey when they enter a room.”
“Egads. Do you really want to marry into that life?”
Mona looked serious. “I love Robert. I really do. We must find a compromise to make this marriage work, but I will not relinquish Moon Enterprises. I know my duty.”
“Robert also has a duty, Mona. Brynelleth is the center of the economy for Robert’s part of the world. He can’t let his people down either.”
Mona threw her hands up. “I know. I know. A lot of people are counting on the two of us.” Mona stood up and went to the window, looking out at the bustling street. “I love Robert, but I can live without him, though my life will be dull and dreary. With Robert, my life is filled with joy. I want my life filled with joy, Dexter. Please find a way to make this marriage work.”
Dexter took out his pipe and tobacco pouch. “Here is what I recommend. You keep your family moniker as your legal name. In return, you throw money at Brynelleth to bring it up to twentieth century standards such as modern plumbing and electricity.”
“Oh, Dexter, you’re teasing now. I’m sure Brynelleth has indoor bathrooms and electricity.”
“Are you sure? In either case, the roof will be shot. Roofs on all those old estate houses are always in need of replacing. That alone will cost thousands.”
“I knew that Brynelleth was in serious debt, but I thought Robert handled that when he went over to visit his father.”
“Robert got the debt under control, but he still owes the bank a considerable note.”
Mona’s brow furrowed. “How much money are we talking about to pay off the debt and refurbish the estate?”
Dexter wrote a figure on a piece of paper and handed it to Mona.
She looked at it and whistled. “That much, eh? Goodness. That’s a lot of bananas.”
“We can take the money out of the workers’ pension fund.”
“No. This is a personal matter. Moon Enterprises money is not going to pay a dime for Robert’s ancestral home. I will have to shell out from my personal accounts.”
“It will leave you broke, Mona.”
“Doesn’t Bynelleth bring in any income?”
“Pittance.”
Mona said, “Okay. Let’s throw some money at this and make Robert’s lawyers more apt to compromise. For the next ten years, we will give thirty-five percent of my income after taxes and expenses to pay for repairs and upkeep on Brynelleth, but Brynelleth has to make changes. They can’t keep doing things like they have done since the 1700s. They must embrace modern farming and housekeeping techniques. Robert will be thrilled at the chance to bring the estate up to new standards. I know that he has been trying to get his leasees to change their farming methods.”
“I’ll have our new legal eagles take Robert’s henchmen around and show them the sights. Ply them with burgoo and bourbon. Maybe then they will listen to reason.”
Mona grinned. “Keep them away from the brothels.”
“Shame on you for even knowing that houses of ill repute exist in our quaint little hamlet.”
Mona was tired of talking about Brynelleth. She pulled back a wisp of her platinum hair. “How is Wilhelmina?”
“Doing better. Much better.”
“I feel as though I have neglected her. I’ve been so busy.” Mona thought back to her visit to Washington D.C. and her lunch with Eleanor Roosevelt, which led to deadly spy intrigue. “Why don’t we invite Robert’s blood hounds plus you and Wilhelmina for brunch on Sunday? Show them real Southern hospitality. Might defrost them a bit.”
“Worth a try.”
“Maybe I can get Wilhelmina alone to myself for a minute or two.”
“She would like that. Thanks.”
“Eleven sound okay?”
“We’ll be there bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.”
Mona gathered her gloves and handbag. “See you on Sunday, Dexter.”
“Let me escort you out. I want to show you our new typewriters.”
“A pleasure.”
Mona and Dexter walked through his executive secretarial office and reception room into the major secretarial pool where six typists were busy. Off to the side of the room were more offices. Dexter had hired two young attorneys—one an expert in business law and the other lawyer worked on mining patents/claims.
Dexter introduced Mona to each worker. She was impressed with the typists’ skills and looked over some of their work—most of it letters to various employees and buyers of copper ore. Smiling, Mona shook their hands and welcomed them to Moon Enterprises. Then Dexter took her to the switchboard room where three telephone operators worked. Everything was state of the art and impressive.Moon Enterprises occupied the top floor of Mona’s building with a guard and another receptionist stationed at the elevator. Dexter walked Mona to the lift.
“You don’t have to walk me to my car, Dexter. I’ll be fine. Besides, I want to pop into the bank,” Mona said, pulling on her white gloves.
“Very well. See you on Sunday.”
The guard pushed the elevator’s button. The door opened to a uniformed operator whose gleaming brass buttons on his maroon jacket matched the highly polished walls of the compartment.
Mona thanked the guard and entered. “First floor, please.”
“Yes, ma’am, Miss Moon,” he said.
Mona exited on the ground floor and entered the bank she had created to cater to the female patrons. The bank was slowly building up a clientele since many women were working outside the home, and the bank was gaining a reputation for fairness, especially when granting loans at a lower interest rate. More and more farmers sought the Moon Bank’s help after so many banks closed their doors in 1933. Mona conferred briefly with the bank manager and took a copy of the bank’s most recent quarterly report, which she stuck in her satchel. Saying goodbye to the bank staff, Mona walked outside to her car. At that moment, Mona spied a chauffeured black Pierce-Arrow sedan with a veiled woman sitting in the back. Mona, along with everyone else, stared as the car drove out of sight.
Mona had just caught a glimpse of Belle Brezing, the most infamous madam in the South.
That certainly kept my attention. I hope someone in my family gets me a gift card so I can download books next year because I've got a list of the ones I want. Murder Under a New Moon is one of them.

Two new Releases in the SEALS in Paradise Series and some BIG NEWS about the series
Hello dear readers!
I hope you had a wonderful, safe Thanksgiving! And I’m wishing you a fantastic Christmas!

I’m working on a new paranormal in the Superstition Series right now. Deep Within the Mind will be out probably in February. I’ll send out a newsletter when it’s available for preorder, but I thought I’d share the cover and the blurb with you now.

Blurb for Deep Within the Mind
Superstition Kentucky harbors the largest preternatural population in the state. Creatures of myth and people of unusual abilities rub shoulders with average men and women in the small mountain town.
Vet Harper Montgomery has a secret. She’s a powerful psychic who hides behind her professional persona until she receives a vision of a child being abducted. When she starts experiencing a series of unusual visions and reports them, she captures the Superstition police department’s interest.
Detective Miles Barrett is new to Superstition and unaware of the hidden part of the population he serves, until he meets Harper. He doesn’t believe in her ability, but he’s searching for a monster who’s already killed four women. With little evidence to go on, he’s willing to give her a chance.
But for the first time in her life, Harper is finding controlling her gift more difficult by the day, until she realizes she’s under attack by an evil too powerful to imagine.
More FANTASTIC News:
Sometimes life just happens and it’s totally out of our control. That’s what happened to Parker Kincade and her recent SEALS In Paradise release. A family emergency arose and she had to push back her release.
This works out to be very lucky for you readers because we have two fantastic new books in the SEALS In Paradise Series that are sharing a release date.
As of December 7th Parker Kincade’s book Hot SEAL, Sinful Harvest has been released and at the same time Kris Michaels’ book Hot SEAL, Silent Knight is now available as well.
I love this cover. The guy on it just does it for me. And the story does too. I know you’ll love the book.

Hot SEAL, Sinful Harvest
Parker Kincade
Cash “Inferno” Mancini is a take-charge, get-shit-done kind of guy. All he wants to do is help his family bring in the fall harvest, eat some holiday turkey, and then get his ass back to his SEAL team. If it weren’t for his unexpected roommate, he’d be halfway to done already. Cash had no doubt that Aspen Calloway was put on this earth just to annoy him. With her sweet smiles and cheery attitude. With her constant smiles and those pouty lips he’d like to…
Kris Michaels is a fantastic writer. I’ve waited all year to read this one. We do read each other’s books.
Kris’s book Hot SEAL, Silent Knight is a Hope City Crossover novel, but it still falls in with the rest of our SEALS In Paradise team.

Author's note: To this Christmas story I've also sprinkled two handfuls of Guardians and a dash of an assassin in a Christmas sweater! Come find some old friends and maybe a glimpse into next year's first release in the Kings of Guardian Series!
Forced to take his 'Use or Lose' vacation days, Romeo Platoon Leader Ted (Bear) Black begrudgingly heads home to Hope City and all the nonsense surrounding Christmas. He'd rather stay in San Diego and spend his downtime working, especially when he's unexpectantly reunited with the woman who was the star of the worst date he'd ever experienced.
Noel Laurent is heading home for Christmas. Her life in San Diego is lacking one thing. Snow! Christmas is the absolute most magical time of the year, and she can't miss any of the wonderful traditions and events surrounding the season, even if she has to share her travels with the stoically silent Ted Black. Forced to spend time together, Noel is determined to infuse Christmas's magic and wonder into her travel partner, despite his grumpy disposition. After all, miracles still happen, especially at Christmas!
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! THERE WILL BE NEW RELEASES IN THE SEAL IN PARADISE SERIES IN 2022
There are always two prerequisites to the books. One is they have to take place in a new location that the reader will find interesting. And the second is a theme.
The first releases in the SEALS In Paradise Series were in 2018 and they followed the theme of drinks. 2019 they were based on vacation locations. 2020 we chose wedding stories. 2021 we chose holidays.
2022 books will be based on…. Drum Roll…. two-word song titles. You can imagine how many song titles there were to choose from. And we had a lot of fun suggesting very racy titles. Like Free Ride and a few others that we all decided were out of bounds.
I had several song titles I debated using. Heat Wave, Let’s Dance, Young Lust, Crazy Love, Easy Lover, and the list goes on and on. I didn’t realize there were so many two-word song titles. I chose a song by Journey. I have a whole collection of Journey music. I’ll have to make a playlist to write by.
My title is Hot SEAL, Open Arms.
If you’ve ever listened to the song’s lyrics you’ll understand why. Here’s a link if you want to go and listen to the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz-XwCS4jcQ
I’m so excited about another year of SEALS In Paradise releases. I’m giving you a sneak peek of my cover and the blurb. It will be up for preorder soon. The book will release October 25, 2022.

Something New Happening with the SEAL Team Heartbreakers Series!!

Hello readers. I wish I was on the beach right now. Cold weather is just around the corner. We've already had some freezing temps here in Kentucky.
To take my mind off the end of summer, I have some really exciting news to share. My wonderful cover artist Tracy Hacker has been a busy lady. Tracy has created new covers for the first 10 books in my SEAL Team Heartbreakers Series. She's come up with fantastic designs that tie the covers together wonderfully as a series.
I uploaded them all in the last few days, and now that they're all live, I thought I'd share them on my blog so you can admire them.
The changes Tracy made were:
1. She increased the size of my guys so they take center stage.
2. Changed the guy on Breaking Free's cover to match the one on my Building Family cover.
3: Changed the tones of the covers to more vibrant colors.
4. Changed the fonts on the covers so it really draws attention to my titles. (I think those fonts kick ass.)
5. Changed the Building Ties cover to match the design on Building Family and Building Strength. Building Ties introduces the SEAL team in Building Strength and Building Family.

But when he meets Moira at a charity dinner, he’s torn between the desire to take her to bed and the need to protect her. After a night of terrific sex, neither knows where things are going. Hot SEAL, Midnight Magic is RELEASED!! And Parker Kincade's Sinful Harvest is coming next!
Hello Dear Readers,
Hot SEAL, Midnight Magic is RELEASED!!! It's different than anything I've written so far, so I hope you enjoy it. The lightning strike we experienced here at the house made things a technological challenge but I persevered and I'm really proud of the book.

Amazon / B & N / Apple / Kobo / Smashwords
Navy SEAL Gage Fontenot is home for the first time in two years because his grandmother, who raised him, is in the hospital after a brutal assault. He has four weeks to get the lay of the land, find who’s responsible, and guarantee the attacker gets the punishment he deserves. When he’s met at the airport by Mia, the woman he jilted six years ago, his visit becomes much more complicated. Because his reasons for leaving New Orleans all lead back to her.
Psychic Mia Blanchard knows there’s always a price to pay for the best things in life, but she’s shocked by the dramatic change in Gage. Gone is the lighthearted Cajun who played guitar in the New Orleans clubs. What has happened to make him cut himself off from his home and family? She needs to find out, because she can’t move on until she puts their past behind her.
But there is more than their personal history in play. She sees danger ahead for them both. But Gage never believed in her gift in the past. How can she convince him to trust it now?
HERE'S AN EXCERPT :
He wasn't the same man she fell in love with, but the strength of his arms around her was comforting. Her head found a spot over his heart. He ran a hand down her back. She looked up at him. His eyes were so dark, the pupils almost blending into the iris, and his lips touched hers tempting and tender. A heated lethargy suffused her, and she allowed herself to melt against him.
The sweet sweep of his tongue parted her lips and swept in to tangle with her own. It had been so long since she felt such a consuming need to open herself to a man, it was as if her entire being was an empty ache waiting to be filled.
Gage broke the kiss, his cheeks as flushed as hers felt. She looked away feeling vulnerable.
"Tell me when Mason plans to put the drugs in Mama's house, Mia."
Was his reason for kissing her just to get more information? She pulled away, folded her arms, and stepped around him. "I truly don't know, Gage. It might not be Mason who puts the drugs there. All I saw was the police lead you out of the house in handcuffs, then Mama's clock striking ten and starting to play."
His expression tightened, and he turned away.
He didn't believe her. He didn't know who she was and never had.
"While you were in Africa, there was a man named Abeo you tried to help. His entire family was killed. His sons.
Gage swung around to face her and in two strides was there gripping her arms. "Did Mama tell you something? Did she somehow figure out where I was? You're not suppose to know... It's...You could get in trouble if you repeat any of that. I could too, because they'd think I told you. Everything about that mission was need-to-know." His eyes, expresso dark, searched her face.
"Mama's never talked about where you were or what you do for a living. She never even told me you're in the Navy. I'm only telling you what I saw that first day, when I dropped you off at the hospital. I haven't told anyone else."
"Jesus!" He raked his fingers through his thick, curly hair.
"Mama would smack you for taking the Lord's name in vain."
"I'm not kidding, Mia."
"Neither am I." She was almost amused by his reaction, though she realized the danger to his career if they thought he was sharing military secrets.
He stared at her for a long tense moment. "Dammit!"
"Would you like a stiff drink? I have some bourbon in the cabinet over there." She pointed to the left cabinet with the decorative shelving holding artwork.
"No thanks. And you're being a smart-ass."
"You can't really blame me for a little payback." Her attention lingered on him for a moment, taking in the sculpted scruff of beard that darkened his jaw...the sexy, heavy-lidded, coffee brown eyes so guarded yet expressive...and his heavily muscled body. God, he sure cleaned up good.

But there is more than their personal history in play. She sees danger ahead for them both. But Gage never believed in her gift in the past. How can she convince him to trust it now?
HERE'S ANOTHER EXCERPT :
The streetlight cast a weak glow on her car parked beneath it. A sudden bark of laughter up the street startled Mia, and she darted inside the vehicle, shoved in the key, and started the engine. The clock read 2:32 as she shot down the alley and out onto the side street, grateful that traffic was light as she wove her way through the dark streets and caught 1-90 across the river.
If Mama Bet was okay, who else might it be? Who else had she come in contact with that might have triggered this kind of connection?
The twenty-minute drive to Alger's Point and Mama Bet's house seemed to take forever. When she turned into Mama's driveway, Mia realized she had no way to protect herself if the attacker was still inside. But she couldn't call the police and report a crime unless a crime had been committed.
It had. She trusted her ability.
She shoved open the car door, her breaths sounding loud in her ears as she strode up the steps to the front porch of the small shotgun house, past the pale purple passionflower clematis spiraling up the porch post at one end, its lovely scent perfuming the air. She tugged open the screen door and rapped on the door one time.
The door creaked open.
Darkness stared back at her. Chill bumps raced up her arms, and the hair on the back of her neck stood on end. With a trembling hand, she reached inside and flipped on the light. Though cluttered, everything appeared to be in its place.
"Mama Bet?"
Her voice was swallowed by the silence. Even the late summer insects seemed to have lost their voices.
Mia took a step inside, then stilled to listen. Nothing. She moved past the living room to the tiny kitchen-dining room. Seeing nothing was disturbed, she flipped the hallway light on. "Mama Bet?"
Silence still. She slipped down the narrow hall to the first bedroom. Sparsely decorated, it looked normal, as did the bathroom across from it. But before she reached Mama's doorway, she smelled blood...
I hope you enjoyed the excerpt. And I hope you'll check out the latest releases!!

On May 7th I released my 26th book. And I'm now headed toward my 27th but that's another story I'll be sharing with you in a later post. Building Family has been out exactly a month. And I'm so thrilled by my reader's responses.
Building Family is Book 10 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers Series. It's a big book just shy of 91,000 words and has 2 romances, a wedding, and 3 different suspense angles going all at the same time. I'm so proud of the book.
Building Family goes back to the roots of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers series with the first couple I wrote about in Breaking Free. Hawk and Zoe. They've matured, they've excelled in their professional lives and they're still deeply in love. But love isn't without conflict, sometimes, and Zoe's come to a decision that will impact their lives. She's made sacrifices being married to a SEAL. She's been a single parent for much of that time and now that Hawk is home more often, she wants to fulfill a dream.
Here's the blurb:After nine years of marriage to a Navy SEAL Zoe Yazzie knows about sacrifice. Because of numerous periods of separation from her husband she’s put her dream of having another child on the back burner. But now her biological clock is ticking and she needs Hawk’s cooperation.
Lieutenant Commander Adam “Hawk” Yazzie is stunned when his wife springs the idea of having a baby on him. Their son will soon be ten and Hawk believes their baby days are over. He’s faced with a dilemma, if he says no and crushes Zoe’s dream, will it cause long term harm to their marriage?
When Zoe is injured in a terrible car accident, the decision is put on hold while they wait for her to wake up. Hawk is faced with the possibility that his wife might not survive. But when she finally opens her eyes, he’s dealt an unthinkable blow. Zoe doesn’t remember him or their life together.

An Excerpt:"Oh, God!” What’s happening? She stomped on the gas pedal, shot through the stop sign, and rushed to turn the corner. She glanced up into the rearview mirror again, just in time to see the driver. A man in a baseball cap, dark hair sticking out from beneath the cap, his beard unkept. The truck raced forward again and rammed the rear of her car again. She fought the wheel to maintain control as the car fishtailed, her brakes screaming as she turned another corner.
A major intersection lay ahead, and she prayed the light would stay green. If she could whip through the light and it changed right after, the truck wouldn’t be able to make it. The light turned yellow, then red, and she slammed on her brakes as a line of cars surged forward from her right and left, and she was jerked against her seat belt.
The truck’s engine growled as he shot past the turn and turned up the street away from the busy intersection. Her breathing came in gasping breaths, her muscles shaking with reaction. She reached for her cell phone to call Hawk. What could he do? Her car had a flat, so he couldn’t come drive her home. The man who hit her was gone. All she had was a description of a man with curly hair and a beard in a baseball cap.
She’d call the police and report him and give them a description. But while she keyed in 9-1-1, the husky growl of a truck engine came from behind her again, and she looked up, barely in time to see it racing at her. He rammed in the rear of her car again. Her whole body felt the lash as the phone went flying to the floor.
His wheels continued to spin and scream as the truck pushed against the rear of the SUV and inched her forward. She prayed the light would change in time, even though the lines of traffic continued to whip past.
She pushed both feet against the brake pedal. The smell of burning rubber was almost choking as the truck continued to lunge forward, again shoving her out into the line of traffic. A green blur shot past and clipped the front of the SUV and spun it around. The front airbags deployed, and she was blinded by the white plastic and powder.
The blair of a loud horn jerked her head to the right. The huge grill of a truck bore down on her, growing larger by the second in the side window. A moment of déjà vu tore a squeak of fear from her, every muscle seizing, her hands grappled past the air bag to the steering wheel, instinctively bracing against the impact even as her foot floored the gas pedal to get clear.
The SUV leapt forward, and for a second she thought she might make it—
The impact was an explosion of sound as glass shattered, metal screamed, the side airbags deployed, and for a moment the SUV was airborne as it rolled high in the air on its nose, then twisted.
Her head struck something. A searing pain tore a cry from her. Blackness swallowed everything.
