Africa is new ‘El Dorado of espionage’, leaked intelligence files reveal
With South Africa a regional powerhouse and communications hub, Pretoria has become a centre of the continent’s new Great Game, intelligence officials say, and a target of global espionage. The leaked documents obtained by al-Jazeera and shared with the Guardian contain the names of 78 foreign spies working in Pretoria, along with their photographs, addresses and mobile phone numbers - as well as 65 foreign intelligence agents identified by the South Africans as working undercover. Among the countries sending spies are the US, India, Britain and Senegal.

Department of Scapegoating
State Security Minister David Mahlobo has conceded that the signal jamming ahead of the State of the Nation address was an “operational error”. Barry Bateman asks when this government is going to stop treating its citizens like idiots.
Many South Africans have reacted with disbelief at State Security Minister David Mahlobo’s claim that the jamming of cellphone signals in the National Assembly last week was the result of a “technical oversight”.
And rightfully so.
Mahlobo would have you believe that the jamming of cellphone signals was a “counter threat measure” related to a no-fly zone that was enforced over Parliament for a specific period of time, and that due to an oversight, this measure was enforced for longer than scheduled.

Zuma Hollow Man - The Man who giggles while the country goes down the drain
President Jacob Zuma laughed while parliamentary democracy unravelled in front of a television audience of millions during his State of the Nation address. Unsurprisingly, President Jacob Zuma displayed some unacceptable behaviour during the chaos in Parliament when EFF MPs were escorted out. Democratic Alliance parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane accused President Jacob Zuma of “breaking Parliament” by letting police into the National Assembly and laughing as they dragged out Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) MPs. He said “You are a broken man, presiding over a broken society”

A Lesson in Metaphor for Baleke Mbete
The Mail & Guardian Online quoted Mbete saying on Saturday: “If we don’t work we will continue to have cockroaches like Malema roaming all over the place.” Malema said "I think Baleka is calling for my assassination. If I'm killed tomorrow people must know I was killed by Baleka and the ANC. We know what happened to people who were called cockroaches in Rwanda. "Cockroaches" was the very term used by radio hosts to dehumanize Tutsi in Rwanda on the cusp of the hundred-day slaughter in 1994.

The Address of the State of the Nation
South Africa’s State of The Nation Address (2015) Starts With a Fistfight, Ends With a Dance. “For a solid hour, South Africa resembled a messy, dysfunctional state being held together by the security forces”. Zuma, heckled during his state of the nation address, sat down as the parliamentary speaker ordered armed security guards and police to drag the Economic Freedom Fighters kicking and fighting out of the chamber. Several people were injured in the brawl, dubbed a national embarrassment and broadcast around the world. The Daily Maverick reported While the EFF consolidated its image as political ruffians, it managed to draw armed security force personnel (neatly dressed in white shirts, maybe to distinguish them from the Ossewa Brandwag’s Grey Shirt brigades) into parliament. The DA continued with its new strategy of walk-outs. Meanwhile the State Security Agency (or someone with the necessary toys) tried to block all cellphone signals in and around Parliament, only for Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to send a short, sharp message to the young minister of state security to stop fooling around. And then, of course, a relaxed and healthy-looking President Jacob Zuma presented another speech, clearly prepared by a visionless committee, telling the nation that (almost everything) was on track… to somewhere.Sona 2015 will be remembered as the night parliament lost even more of its historic glamour, and constitutional democracy took a bit of a hammering. It will not be remembered for anything Zuma said, promised or envisioned.

Verwoerdian Racism
25 years after releasing Nelson Mandela, there is still evidence of deep rooted racial prejudice among white youth. A video showing Four "white" pupils from the Jan Kempdorp High School in the Northern Cape raping and assaulting, a black pupil at the same school with a with a broomstick. The "black" boy was stripped and painted white. After that he was sodomised with a stick, while other . boys watched and cheered them on." Apparently the attack was blamed because the victim was dating a white girl. Was it or wasn’t it a racial attack? the discussion has unfolded on South African social media.
Dr Hendrik Verwoerd (1901–1966, Prime Minister 1959–66) was the so-called ‘architect of apartheid’ He had undertaken studies as a psychologist in prewar Germany. There, he became enamoured with the ‘racial hygiene’ theories and policies of the Nazi. What seems to have happened is that such notions and attitudes were ‘grafted onto’ the Bible in an unholy union, with various distortions of Genesis used as rationales to justify these ideas about ‘race’. Verwoerd stated “There is no place for [the Native] in the European community above the level of certain forms of labour.... These theories led to an attitude of white supremacy amonst whites and in particular among poor whites.
