Load Shedding Problems in South Africa
SA must brace for rough energy ride. When it comes to power supply, the next two years are going to be tough, Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown warned. Speaking during debate in the National Assembly on embattled power utility Eskom's ability to keep the lights on, she called on South Africans to work together to see the country through the crisis.

Dan Roodt, Steve Hofmeyr and Chester Missing
This week puppet master Conrad Koch and Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyer went head to head in the Randburg Magistrates Court after a twitter war. Koch says Hofmeyer is a “coward” for running to the courts when he was called a racist and felt the consequences of his tweet stating: “blacks were the architect of apartheid”. The court ruled that the singer opened himself up for criticism and therefore cancelled the protection order the singer had obtained earlier this month.

The Khampepe Report
Acccording to the Khampene report, the 2002 Zimbabwe election was not free and fair. For more than 12 years, the South African government fought to keep the contents of the Khampepe Report under wraps. Finally, they failed, and the details of a damning cover-up were revealed: Zimbabwe’s 2002 elections were rigged, and South Africa knew all about it. The Khampepe report documents 107 murders in the weeks before the elections, mainly of MDC supporters; in 2008 many more would die at the hands of Zanu-PF militias. Mbeki has been characteristically silent since the report was published. According to Morgan Tsvangirai, Thabo Mbeki is a hypocrite who preached democracy even as he was subverting it

On 9 August 2014, unarmed teenager Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer, Darren Wilson. Three and a half months later St. Louis County prosecutor Robert McCulloch announced that the grand jury did NOT indict Wilson. Some residents and community leaders contend St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch has history and deep ties to the police and has favored law enforcement in many criminal cases. McCulloch's own father was a police officer and was killed on the job in 1964 by an African-American man, when McCulloch was 12. It is felt that his judgement was clouded and biased.

Mr Fixit vs Mr. Wreck-it
Cyril Ramaphosa intervened in Parliament this week to broker a deal between the African National Congress (ANC) and the main opposition parties to restore some order to the chaotic proceedings. Zuma’s refusal to fulfil his constitutional duty to take parliamentary questions was partly the cause of the disturbance. Ramaphosa was not just deputising for Zuma; he was there to sort out Zuma’s mess. Even if the deal later started to fall apart, Ramaphosa made the effort.

Perceptions
Baleka Mbete is the speaker of parliament, a position that is supposed to be impartial. She is required to distance herself from the party in order to avoid a perception of bias and unfairness? She is also chairman of the ANC. In this position she has to protect the interests of the party. Opposition parties claim that Baleka Mbete cannot simultaneously serve as chairwoman of the ANC and as Speaker of the National Assembly. Baleka Mbete's response is that she is aware of her responsibility to impartiality.

The Cosby Sham
Thirty years ago, The Cosby Show was launched on NBC, and its star was catapulted into the comedic stratosphere. Bill Cosby played the role of America's Dad, with a No. 1-rated family sitcom, a runaway bestseller about fatherhood and a lucrative ad career built around his Everyman image.
For nearly the past 40 years, Bill Cosby has managed to evade allegations of sexual abuse from numerous women. However, over recent weeks, the accusations against him have been given a spotlight once again. Fifteen women have come out with allegations of sexual abuse since 2004. Cosby has never been charged and has always denied the allegations. However, is Cosby’s silence speaking louder than words and making the whole situation worse?
