EFF leader Julius Malema Claims Political Interference in his Corruption Case.

Julius Malema adressesed his supporters after his corruption trial was postponed at the Limpopo High Court on September 30, 2014 in Polokwane, South Africa. A South African court on September 30 suspended the corruption trial of firebrand politician Julius Malema, pushing back the high-profile case against the self-appointed graft buster for nearly a year. The 33-year-old Malema, who heads the opposition Economic Freedom Fighters, faces charges of fraud, corruption, money-laundering, and racketeering linked to a 5 million USD government contract won five years ago.

Opposition Parties Withdraw from Committee on Nkandla

Parliament's ad-hoc committee on Nkandla has resumed its work without opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) who have withdrawn from the process, leaving only the African National Congress (ANC) to scrutinise the multi-million rand spending on President Jacob Zuma’s private home. Opposition MPs walked out of a meeting last week after wrangling over whether witnesses could be called and whether Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's recommendations should be enforced. Even before the parliamentary ad-hoc committee on Nkandla could finish its work, ANC members of the committee said they would recommend against the proposal by the public protector that President Jacob Zuma repay a portion of the R246-million spent on his rural homestead.

Jacob's Role in South Africa's Nuclear Deal with Russia

Mail & Guardian reports "As the government scrambles to limit fallout, we reveal how Jacob Zuma grabbed control of the R1tn deal and negotiated directly with Vladimir Putin" Zuma’s spokesman Mac Maharaj didn’t immediately respond to a voicemail and a text message on his mobile phone seeking comment. It seems that Zapiro got a private interview

Why Are the Vietmanese Slaughtering Our Rhinos?

Record numbers of rhinos are being poached and killed in South Africa for their horn. Many of those horns end up being sold illegally for their supposed medicinal properties - in countries such as Vietnam. Before  2005, rhino poaching losses in South Africa averaged 14 animals each year. Since 2005, the killings have surged and Vietnam has rapidly grown to be the world’s largest recipient of both legal and illegal rhino horn from South Africa.  Vietnamese nationals have been heavily implicated in obtaining trophy hunting permits for white rhino in South Africa, and using the 'psuedo-hunts' as a means of exporting rhino horn to Vietnam. In 2013, The head of Vietnam's wildlife trade authority  angrily dismissed accusations that his country is the driving force behind the illicit trade in rhino horn, describing them as "bullshit". He went on to blame China for the slaughter.

Gargantua's Wedding

5000 guests aattended Khulubuse Zuma's wedding held at Nkandla. Seven marquees were erected, and guests feasted on 16 cattle, which were slaughtered for the ceremony.

The celebration concluded on Sunday, when the bride's family presented gifts to the groom's family. Dlamini arrived with her bridal entourage in Nkandla on Friday night, and on Saturday was clad in her traditional Swazi attire. Khulubuse was dressed in cowhide and sprinkled a drop of goat's bile over his bride's head, which symbolises her welcome to the Zuma family.

In return, Dlamini handed a spear to Khulubuse, a sign that she accepted him as her husband.

The couple met about 10 years ago when Dlamini visited her sister, who was living with the president in Nkandla at the time.

Khulubuse, 44, proposed in 2005 and paid lobolo of 100 head of cattle in October last year. Dlamini, 33, is the daughter of King Mswati's brother, Prince Phiwokwakhe Dlamini, who died in 2005.
