Even now, when the snow turns trees crystalline, I am shot right back to hiding in my closet, reading those novels, wishing I could disappear into a world hidden behind the wardrobe.(less)

I am a work-until-it's-done sort of person and often forget that writing with a tired brain has diminishing returns. So, I will take a nap, go for a walk, hang out with my family, until the brain kicks back in.

When that sort of level of rest isn't going to cut it (deadlines!), I will go back to the original inspiration for the story or just start free writing on the topic or in the character's voice I'm trying to manage. Usually, that sort of getting out of my own head works well.(less)

Called by the Cailleach

The Cailleach came to me in a dream the other night. This incredible hagthe first goddess, she who grants sovereignty, the ancients, the landand I stood on a beach in a place that seemed at the edge of everything. Waves a thousand feet high rolled in like easy folds of velvet and washed the world...

Nenia Campbell
“Her world fragmented into dozens of sharp, cutting shards, shedding the salty blood and saltier tears that ringed the bitter cocktail of her despair. She was caterpillar and butterfly, both, caught in a cocoon of raw nerves and open sores; she was insanity, wrapped up in the thin, transient wrappings of a temporary lucidity; and she was afraid, because an innate desire lay in the bottom reaches of her psyche for the very poison that was killing her.”
Nenia Campbell, Terrorscape

Martin Luther King Jr.
“As my sufferings mounted I soon realized that there were two ways in which I could respond to my situation -- either to react with bitterness or seek to transform the suffering into a creative force. I decided to follow the latter course.”
Martin Luther King Jr.

Jason Mraz
“Transformation is my favorite game and in my experience, anger and frustration are the result of you not being authentic somewhere in your life or with someone in your life. Being fake about anything creates a block inside of you. Life can’t work for you if you don’t show up as you.”
Jason Mraz

Osho
“One thing: you have to walk, and create the way by your walking; you will not find a ready-made path. It is not so cheap, to reach to the ultimate realization of truth. You will have to create the path by walking yourself; the path is not ready-made, lying there and waiting for you. It is just like the sky: the birds fly, but they don't leave any footprints. You cannot follow them; there are no footprints left behind.”
Osho

Jocelyn Soriano
“Yes, I understand why things had to happen this way. I understand his reason for causing me pain. But mere understanding does not chase away the hurt. It does not call upon the sun when dark clouds have loomed over me. Let the rain come then if it must come! And let it wash away the dust that hurt my eyes!”
Jocelyn Soriano, Mend My Broken Heart
