Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

How different, from one another, are we really?

We are all more a like than we want to believe. Despite our differences, with one another, we share some common ground. Our tie is that "God created mankind in his own image" (Genesis 1:27). Having such likeness, we can still set aside our differences and come together to do great things for each other and the world that we share. Might you embrace the connection. #ASharedBond

How much fruit would you like to bear?

Such fruit is not grown on trees, but planted and grown through relationships with others, especially Him. In doing so, you have the opportunity to bear a great deal of fruit, with such fruit being "love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). So, may you bear much fruit as your relationships grow. #ABountifulHarvest

How can you be refreshed as well as refreshing to others?

True hospitality is not about what you have or give to others (1 Corinthians 16:17). Being hospitable is a selfless act of the heart that welcomes others; and when you are able to act as such, you, then, have the ability to refresh another's spirit as well as your own (16:18). Now, this is hospitality at it's finest. #BeRefreshed

What keeps you full and from going hungry?

Many struggle to get the necessary nourishment that they need in order to keep them full. If food is not enough, there is another readily available source, the "bread of life" (John 6 5:35), the one who will always keep you fed and full, well-nourished (see 5:51). So, might you seek His provisions and get exactly what you need so that you will always receive the nourishment that you need to be fully satisfied. #NeverGoHungry

How can you satisfy your cravings?

There are moments when we crave certain things, and one of those being junk food. Such cravings are only temporary. What is lasting and curbs every craving is Jesus. He announced that "[He is] the bread of life. Whoever comes to [him] will never go hungry, and whoever believes in [him] will never be thirsty" (John 6:35). So, might you consider a more sustainable source to help you with your cravings. #BeSatisfied

Why be brave and courageous?

There are very few people in this world that are brave and courageous; and one of the few was Daniel. Even with his life on the line, Daniel asked to be taken to the king to interpret a dream for him (see Daniel 2:24); and, in doing so, was honored and spared, along with many others. In life, there are certain things worth standing up for, and when you choose to do so, remember what Daniel did, but most importantly the man who chose to give up his life for you and me. #RealHeroes

"Our struggle is...against the powers of this dark world" (Ephesians 6:12). So, how will you handle your struggle? When faced with struggle, we are challenged to "be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power" (6:10); and when we "stand firm" (6:14) and "against the devil's schemes" (6:11) we can face any struggle, because He will be there, through prayer (6:18), to help us overcome each and every one of them. #StrengthInHim

Why do we exist?

Look around, it is no accident why we are here. Everything that you see, including yourself, has always been part of His plan. "He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together" (Colossians 1:17 NLT). So, as you "consider [his] heavens, the work of [his] fingers, [and] the moon and the stars" (Psalm 8:3-4), just as David did, might you consider Him as the real reason and answer as to why we exist. #AcceptingWhatTrulyIs

How willing are you to admit when you are wrong?

At times, it can hard to admit that we are wrong. Be it our pride, stubbornness or embarrassment, know that you can still "return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love" (Joel 2:13). Now, might you "rend your heart and not your garments" (2:13). #ApologiesAccepted

What will it take for you to finish strong?

There are moments when we feel weak; and in those weak moments we can have thoughts of wanting to quit. Encouraging us to hang in there is Paul. He tells us to not 'become weary" (Galatians 6:9) and "finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given [us]" (Acts 20:24). So, when weak thoughts come to mind, remember where to look for the encouragement and strength that you need to finish strong. #NoQuit
