Day 5

In May I am writing 30,000 words. Yesterday I said I would write 500, and I wrote 503.

Today I will write 500.

How about you?

Your goal for May

Your goal for yesterday (Wednesday)

Your achievement yesterday

Congratulations to yourself for your May achievement so far (but only if you deserve them!)

Day 4

In May I am writing 30,000 words. Yesterday I said I would write 1000. I wrote 1010. Yes, I wrote the same amount as yesterday. Maybe my brain has become programmed to shut off at 1010, just like it is programmed to wake me up at 4:30 a.m. even when I could sleep late if I wanted. Thanks, medulla oblongata!

Today I will write 500 and do some maintenance.

Now you:

Your name

Your goal for May

Your goal for yesterday (Tuesday)

Your achievement yesterday

Your goal for today

Day 3

In May I am writing 30,000 words. Yesterday I said I would write 1000. I wrote 1010.

And then the publishing industry asked me to go with the prom with it and I said yes! *squee*

I swear, y'all, I wasted most of the day staring moonily at my new book, and it got very late, and I would not have written anything if it hadn't been for the threat of you guys looking askance at me. Thanks, Public Shame Writing Challenge!

Today I will write 1000.

Now you:

Your name

Your goal for May

Your goal for yesterda...

Days 1 and 2

Welcome to the Public Shame Writing Challenge! It's simple: just announce your goal for May and your goal for today, and report in tomorrow.

There are no excuses in the Public Shame Writing Challenge. It's not that we don't care why you didn't meet your goal. But there's no place for it here because it might reduce the shame. To paraphrase Yoda, write or write not; there is no try. Just take your helping of shame and move along.

Ready?

In May I am writing 30,000 words. Over the weekend I wrote t...

Public Shame Writing Challenge for May

What is the Public Shame Writing Challenge? It is the internet embodiment of my realization that you want to write, but writing is hard, and nobody is looking at you, and given the choice you will watch Mythbusters and each chocolate-chip cookies during your writing time unless there is something driving you, such as the fact that you boasted to people how much you were going to write today and now you have to do it.

How it works: Decide how much you're going to write in May. Post that here on...

This is the ending post. I have made a space for it early. If you have not completed your Friday quota yet, scroll down and enter your Thursday achievement on the Day 29 post, then come back and enter your Friday achievement and your overall April Achievement Miracle here. I know, this is confusing, we are Fancy Authors and our brains do not have room to figure out stuff like this.

Day 29

During April I am finishing the proofs of Forget You (CHECK!), dealing with the ARCs (CHECK!), and writing 40,000 words (*just don't say anything*).

Yesterday I said I would produce Index Cards of Wonder. I did, and I wrote 304 words without really meaning to.

Today I will write 1781.

How about you?

Day 28

More happy news from the land of Forget You : Girls Without a Bookshelf and Princess Bookie both posted terrific reviews. Thank you book bloggers!

Day 28:

During April I am finishing the proofs of Forget You (CHECK!), dealing with the ARCs (CHECK!), and writing 40,000 words (*blank stare*).

Well, all I can say for day 28 is, thank God it was day 28. I claimed I would write 1666 and I wrote 741. I'm pretty sure that puts me in the Bottom Three and I am ready to go home.

Today I'm taking an Index Ca...
