I’m excited to start going open studios and art museums with my new tablet. My goal is to get back to drawing and painting this year. Got my tablet ready to go with a fancy case I bought with birthday money from @aldavi7 and slapped a cool sticker on it.

I’m also throwing a Tarot Tea Party. Gotta start planning and find a place. It should be fun!

Capricorn on Capricorn Relationships

Well, in September I took a lover. It wasn’t something I was looking for at the time, it just happened.

He’s a #DecemberCapricorn and I love our December/January #Capricon dichotomy. We’re on the same page with just about everything and we don’t need words to understand each other most of the time; it’s understood. The only difference in our way of experiencing a Capricorn existence is he’s the old year and I’m the new year. Whereas I can be dark but hopeful, he’s much more jaded. We’ve lived very different lives but our hearts are in the same place. I like how this us growing

We celebrated our birthdays together this weekend since he can’t come out tomorrow night with me.

Last night we went to a new Italian restaurant and took the long way walking back to his place to look at lights. Then it was cuddles and movies with him. His roommate/one of my besties (the person who introduced us) watched movies with us until I fell asleep on the couch.

Today we made a birthday cake together. We boiled a dime and dropped it in the batter. The #oldwivestale goes whoever finds the dime in the cake will have a lucky year.

We each had a candle to blow out as our friends sang “Happy birthday” to us. We blew them out at the same time. It was kind of like having a twin. And I found the dime!

Then we snuggled up and watched more movies until it was time for me to go home.

2 Capricorns in a slow burn romance has been exactly the energy I needed as I heal. We’re both trying to get our shit together so we’re not “boyfriend/girlfriend”. Maybe we’ll be one day, but not now.

So for now, it’s good and I’m happy with how things are with he and I

Candle Magick for the New Year

I did a #candlespell for 2024. I cleansed my candles with #flordiawater and salt. Then I etched a symbol on each candle to match its color correspondence. After that, I lit the first candle and the others down the line, speaking my intention out-loud and observing what candles burnt down the quickest and which ones ran together. I also journaled about my goals. The orange candle outlasted them all.

Tiny Tarot Classes

Treaching the kid’s Tarot class was fun! It really brightened a dark day and it will be a Winter Solstice to remember!

The kids had a good time and begged their parents to invite me back. So we’re going to plan an astrology class!

I feel like I need to teach more kid’s classes because that kind of joy and excitement is the kind of energy I need in my life right now.

Neptune Stationed Direct with a bigger snowstorm than predicted. I’ve been sleeping deeply and embraced my contact with the world of dreams.

I went through my personal dream journals and studied what I can use for the dream book I’m outlining.

I’ve noticed for me, personally, writing project begins as a journal or book of shadows.

I’ve been keeping track of my dreams since 2019 or so, and it’s been a trip. I have three journals vol 1-2 and 4. Vol 3 vanished without a trace. It held some very intense dreams and I wish I still had it.

A lot of my dreams in the volumes I do have are rubbish: pining for lovers that rejected me, etc.

But some of the dreams in those volumes are filled with rich, vivid imagery and symbolism.

Some of the pages are abstract pieces of art.

Some of it was outright prophetic.

I started recording all symbols in alphabetical order now under letter headings over the weekend. That within itself is an eye opening task.

I also started brainstorming the outline of the book. The exercise shown me that studying dream symbols is a like language learning in some ways and it’s fascinating.

So I think I have some good material to work with …

… writing this dream book is going to wild.

Old Tyme Tarot Card Will be Shown in a The Creative Arts Club Surrealist Art Show in 2024

I entered a surrealist art show. After a manager at work bought a piece right off my desk, I got inspired to enter one of my Old Tyme Tarot collages in the Creative Art Club ‘s Surreal Landscapes virtual art show.

I chose to enter my piece XIII #Death in the show. I have a huge vintage and antique photo collection amd some of the photos I have are quite rare and valuable.

XIII Death is a collage I made from a photo of a sky burial, blown out WWII ruins and an antique post card. I combind these photos to create a surrealist Death Tarot card.

D said she thought I had a shot at the prize but I know from querying contests that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose but runner up is a thing too.

Since my submission I’ve seen death on everything. People dying, the family cat got put to sleep and I’m mourning the loss of many things. So I felt that perhaps something was moving with my submission.

Friday was the big day. I checked my phone at every break obsessively. Finally the notice showed up a little after 4:00 MST.

I didn’t realize I was in the announcement at first because they listed me as Sarah Davis and not Alanna L.P. I ran some errands and decided to reread the e-mail and *then* I saw my birth name. My birth name just doesn’t resonate with me and I never sign my works by my birth name so I had to read it a 3rd time.

I didn’t win a prize but I got in the show and they’ll sell prints of my art! I get half of the sales too. So I’m working on uploading more Old Tyme Tarot pieces to my Ripped Lace, my #art and #fashiondesign #etsy
