TODAY IS THE RELEASE DAY FOR THE FULL LENGTH NOVEL WHERE THERE IS NO NIGHT: THE LAST MOMENTS BEFORE DUSK.

The Last Moments Before Dusk: Where There is No Night volume 1 https://a.co/d/hOtjlrQ

The day is here. The production of this series took almost 2 decades, but the day for the release of the first full length novel in the series is finally here.

So Go buy my book. It’s only $2.99

This story is the smartest, hottest most blasphemous horror romance on the market.

It’s about a lot of things:

It’s an erotic, angels vs demons/vampire, alchemical allegory.

It’s about religious trauma and surviving various kinds of abuse.

It’s about duality.

It’s about how I love goth/industrial/witch house and all genres of trance music (I’m a fucking graver). There’s a music sidequest that you come complete while reading the book. That’s for later posts 😉

It’s has quite a bit of political theory. I wrote most of the theory parts of this between 2011 and 2015 and you’ll see the stage is being set the way I laid it out, which trips me out but I’m not bad at political theory.

It’s about living with PTSD.

And it’s campy and sexy like a tabloid

And remember it’s horror, so pretty much anything goes.

So grab a copy for spooky season. I’m interested to know what you think.

Here’s a recording of my story about a drinking contest with Death.

From an astrological take, this story came back around when 2016 came back to a visit with this eclipse season.

People I haven’t thought of in ages, an old story getting public recognition and another Trump election.

As for the show, it was all fun and entertaining! My piece is second.

I’d love it if you checked it out!

Big News!

When my brother from another mother offered to take me on a trip to Sedona because he thought I needed a vacation, I didn’t understand what that meant.

I knew about the vortexes but I’m not really too New Age in my practice. I like crystals. There’s something to reiki but I think it’s unetihical to charge so much for classes. But the hippie, freedom loving side of me said, “OK, let’s go.”

And we did.

Over the summer, I had started going around in the Denver lit scene and reading my pieces at Telling Tales. The respones to my writing were always interesting. I saw people were intrigued with my mystical take on reality and there was an audience.

Around the same time, The Where There is No Night Art Book was released from time out at Amazon. I had to cuss them out for a month to get a tech error fixed so my damn book had a REALLY soft launch. Good thing it was just the teaser for the novel and not the novel itself.

The Last Moments Before Dusk: The Book of Darius Volume 1 (Where There Is No Night)

I decided to run a free promotion for the book and it did really well in the charts. Amazon had put the book into some weird categories like Rockstar Romance but it worked. I broke into the top 30 of the US market in 3 genres and into the international market in Rockstar Romance, Gothic Romance and Metaphysical fiction. I felt like a the fucking rockstar so I decided to take it further.

I decied to take the full text for Where There is No Night: The Last Moments before Dusk down to Sedona with me and get the damn thing DONE and READY TO GO. I also find important drafts of books 2 and 3 on a thumb drive that I randomly found while moving so I have the KEYS to publishing 2 more books in the series.

Then eclipse season hit and we got a mini moon??? The astrology started getting crazy and all of a sudden 2016 was back from the dead. 2016, for example, was the last time that Where There is No Night was close to being published in full.

IYKYK

Another 2016 skeleton that fell out of my closet was an old short story I’d written because I was looking for ways to promote the release of Where There is No Night. I pitched a horror story I wrote for an unrequited love in 2016. The story was about a drinking contest with Death. I was still finding my voice as a horror writer back then. It was during that time that I embraced writing horror and fell in love with the genera.

So with all the 2016 eclipse energy hanging about, I sent the story away. All the readings I did on it said “You’ve got this.” They were Cups, Cups, Cups galore!

Then I waited.

Then, off to Sedona!

Sedon was a trip. First we went to the Stupa and I felt something moving there.

We went walking in town after a short hike and I found a statue that I had saved a picture of as inspiraiton for Where There is No Night about KUNDALINI RISING. I’ve been doing a DEEP chakra cleanse and I’m on the crown chakra finally. I knew something was opening.

That night I sat down to edit with the cool Arizona breeze blowing into the suite and then a muse showed up. I say this because my hands did the work but the inspiraiton was forigen. By the end of the night I had ripped 20 pages out of the manuscript. The whole plot gained so much CLARITY that I felt like I was reading it for the first time. I slashed through the manuscript feeling exited because I FINALLY got what all the editors had been trying to tell me. That there were things that didn’t move the plot forward but if I pulled those things out, people would be BEGGING for more.

Editing

I visited the birthing cave and took a picture of children literally popping out of it. A message of fertility.

Don’t worry, mom gave me permission to photograph her kids

On the way back I got the message that I was accepted ot read my story at DenverFright! I screamed with excitment in the car. Aparently Denverite liked it and selected it to be read on Colorado Public Radio.

Later in the afternoon, my friend and I went to Bell Rock and there was a wedding.

10 of Cups IRL

I got whisked up the side of that rock formation by something I couldn’t explain. I felt like I was chasing something I couldn’t catch. We played a game for a while but I didn’t want to go full on Pinic at Hanging Rock so I decided to go find my friend. I slipped on the rocks and pulled a muscle.

Later I read that the energy I felt is something people commonly experience at Bell Rock.

I also saw a little whirl wind right where they say the center of one of the portals is. It swept the leaves up in a little cyclone and I thought I saw something shimmer.

Wild …

Playing hide and seek

I did another hike to Airport Mesa and my leg was killing me. It wouldn’t have been hard for me usually but I definitly regretted that not stretching before hiking was what did me in.

So my guides said, “Sit down, finish those edits.”

And I did. I was nice to myslef. I sat on the patio overlooking beutiful rock formations and tore into my manuscript until it was time to leave.

It was a nice retreat.

Back in Denver, there was a lot to do. I threw a the 3rd Tarot Tea Party and only 2 people came. I was really said. But the two people who showed up told me it was OK because I was competing with a BIG Halloween parade.

It was a flop😢

I juggled working my ass off at my pt job, editing whenever I could because I wanted to do a final pass to make sure everything made sense with Where There is No Night. I pulled so much out. I wanted to make sure I didn’t lose any of the plot or make any careless mistakes because the text was already publisher desk ready when I tore into it.

Then the Day of DenverFright arrived!

It was a trip hearing a professional actor read my story “Le baiser de la mort” on stage tonight. Thank you to Denver Fright and Denverite for choosing my story!

I had flashbacks to the 6th grade Halloween party at school when I won the short story contest with a cheesy horror romance about a girl and a ghost. Everyone was enchanted by my story and I felt the same energy tonight.

As a writer, I always fantasize about my work being performed. It was surreal to watch it happening before my eyes. And the actor NAILED IT. He had me laughing at all the jokes out loud! The audience was intrigued. At times you could hear a pin drop. Laughter filled the room when the actor hit my punch lines.

And of course my guides, who I am starting to feel more and more may be my French ancestors, planted a giggling baby in the audience for a story about a drinking contest with death. I just had to laugh, because I got the #SunTarotcard when I read about tonight and that card features, you guessed it, a laughing baby.

It felt good. I wanted to network afterwards but my ride needed to get home so here I am, getting ready to eat and then get more done for my book release of #TheLastMomentsBeforeDusk full novel on Saturday, just in time for Denver Witches’ Ball and Samhain!

So in honor of all the excitement, I have some promos going on.

There are free downloads of issues 3-7 of #MagdalenaTarotMagazine on Amazon. Another round starts on Saturday for Issues 0-2.

Presales for #TheLastMomentsBeforeDusk dropped today on Amazon and the book is released on Saturday.

There’s something for everyone so go have a look and see what you can find!

A Happy Haunt: The Stanley Hotel

The famous Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado

My sister came to visit and we went to Estes Park for a #ghosttour of #TheStanleyhotel.

We grew up listening to our maternal great-grandmother, Mimi, share her paranormal experiences with the family. The psychic/medium gift got passed down to me but not my sister (although she has great intuition!)

So we both enjoy a good ghost story and ghost tours have become a bit of a family tradition when we get together!

Getting coffee with Amber in Estes Park earlier in the day.

The movie #TheShining gives The Stanley Hotel a scary reputation so I was expecting stories about murders, tragedies, scary #ghoststories about full apparitions, tales of angry #poltergeist and a #spooky atmosphere, but it wasn’t like that at all. In fact, very few deaths have been confirmed at The Stanely and none were untimely or tragic according to the tour.

My sister and I had time to kill before the tour so we had dinner at the sports bar and watched the sun go down on The Stanley’s front porch.

The scattered showers and storms cleared up by the evening and left us with a beautiful #doublerainbow! I didn’t think anything was weird about the #rainbow until we went into the gift shop and a prism was reflecting a rainbow onto a postcard. It was so perfect it looked like part of the postcard, but when I picked the post card up (because I wanted to by it) I realized it was only an optical illusion. I was disappointed, and put the card back because a picture of a rainbow over the Stanley was what I was after.

I wasn’t sold on a #happyhaunting of The Stanley Hotel because I wasn’t aware there was such a thing.

But when the ghost tour walked over to the auditorium, the building was literally lit up in rainbow lights. This is the same building that was under the rainbow earlier in the evening. I found it odd that rainbows were literally everywhere, but it felt like a good omen. I felt like the rainbows were signs of good vibes and good memories lingering at The Stanley Hotel.

… that or the building is the gayest building ever … or maybe both are true! 🌈

The ghost tour took us to two spots on The Stanley property: the auditorium and the servants’ tunnel under the main hotel building.

Our tour guide, Arianna, said there are two kinds of haunts at the Stanley: #activehaunts (poltergeist activity) and #residualhaunts (memories frozen in time). She said there aren’t many confirmed deaths on the property so she assumed many ghosts are at the Stanley because it was a happy place to visit when they were alive.

During the first part of the tour, Arianna showed us around the theater and we got pictures of some #orbs.

About the pictures below: There’s an orb on my sister’s head. I also wasn’t using a flash in any of these pictures. I never turned my flash on during the tour (and in general rarely use it). I would not have randomly turned it on on the tour. so I have no idea what the light in front of my camera was. If the flash came on, I was certainly unaware of it. No one around me was using a flash at that time either.

Arianna used a #pendulum to communicate with the ghost of a young girl, Lucy, in the basement of the theater. Lucy was very talkative because she told me that we were going to use a pendulum to talk to her before Arianna even announced it. I’m guessing Lucy clued me in because I don’t usually get super specific premonitions about small details on my own. That’s where my #psychic ability stops and my #mediumship skills begin. She knew I could pick up her signals so she started firing away and it took me a minute to catch on that I was in contact with her.

I didn’t tell anyone I’m a psychic/medium on the tour. But I played the pendulum game with Lucy when Arianna took our questions for Lucy. Arianna would ask the question to the pendulum and then use it to get “yes” or “no” answers from Lucy.

At the start of the game, Lucy told me her favorite season was summer. I had Ariana ask the pendulum and it gave us a “yes”. Then I asked if she was happy remaining at the Stanley. I felt like the hotel is a chosen haunt for Lucy because I did not feel any sadness, sickness or trauma vibes in my communication. The pendulum gave us a “yes” on that question too.

I didn’t catch anything in the tunnel on camera. The guide showed us a picture of a full apparition of a little girl in the tunnel that was taken on a tour in 2020. That apparition was so realistic that it was SHOCKING (even to me), but I didn’t feel trauma, anger or sadness in the tunnel either.

After the tour, I took some pictures of the grand staircase in the lobby. I caught some paranormal activity on the stairs. I spotted the mirror on arrival and it pinged on my radar so I’m glad I went back to check it out. Arianna said most of their paranormal activity comes from the mirrors at The Stanley and that checks out with my experience too.

Amber and I left shortly after taking pictures in the lobby.

So in conclusion the Stanely Hotel is a happy haunt with a lot of #10OfCups energy. I recommend anyone looking for a beautiful mountain view at a historic location to check out the Stanley Hotel in #EstesPark, #Colorado. It’s a place you might just want to stay at … forever!

What’s Your Venus Sign?

Wowowow.

I felt the Taurus energy coming on when I did completed an art study of “The Birth of Venus”. I must have pleased the goddess because she randomly gifted me a Sailor Venus costume to go to a rave in (lol how Venus in Sagittarius of me!)

A lot of astrologers have been talking about Venus placements lately because we have a Mercury/Venus conjunction coming up on Friday plus Venus enters her home sign of Taurus on Friday too. So I looked into my Venus sign and it basically.

Venus was *just* entering Sagittarius the day of my birth so for a long time, I didn’t know how to interpret my Venus sign but one of my favorite Instagram astrologers set me straight and said just focus on the sign Venus is.

Then I watched this video by Haley Comet Astrology and it made so much sense! ! 🤯

I linked everyone to the series so you can watch the Venus signs you need to watch under the link to the Venus signs playlist below. Let me know how your Venus sign video resonates 💖 And if you don’t know what your Venus sign is, no worries, find it here!

Ode to All My Favorite Lovers: Top 20 Hits

[image error]On my way!

Last night I went to a reading by local #erotic writers and it was exciting and inspirational.

Check out the Erotic Compilation: Listen to Your Skin

@amandaek was reading from her book of erotica short story collection, #TheRiskItTakesToBloom at the book release for #listentoyourskin, an erotica compilation. All the readers were wonderful, especially Amanda, who read an excerpt from her story “The Wife and her Pastor”.

The Risk it Takes to Bloom 2nd edition. Also on audiobook!

I listened to all #queer the erotic stories and thought “Wow, this stuff sells and boy do I have some stories!”

Kissed with Inspiration by a Goddess

A writer read from her upcoming novel about a Marilyn lover and all of a sudden I got inspired to write an #erotic #memoir

I even won #MarilynMonroe cards in a quiz game that was part of the reading. I love Marilyn and have read a bit about her life. I HATE what they did to her both alive and dead. It’s funny b/c a good friend and I were talking about her a couple days ago.

The shop that held the reading, @Sexploratorium, had #vintage and #antique #vibrators (on display only) and a collection of #sex edu #books and erotica. Fun fact, the Sexploratorium was doxxed b/c they sell children’s sex edu books next to erotica.

I went home, inspired by all the readers, and wrote an outline for my erotica book and wow it certainly looks like I get laid more than I do! 🤣 But this is an ode to all my *favorite #lovers* and I love to love

I’m spontaneous with sex. I never *schedule* it. I never go to this place to meet this person/group of people to have sex in this era of mechanical sex appointments. For me, part of the sacredness of sex is the spontaneity. There’s something magical about letting sex happen organically and naturally. Some people like ritualistic sex but in the bedroom, I’m more shamanic. And I think that’s what will draw people in.

No pun intended.

So I’m motivated to get my upcoming 4 books that are all pretty close to release ready wrapped up and released so I can write the book *all of my fans* who love my #sexscenes have been waiting for 😘💋

The tricky part will be getting consent from lovers of the past. The good news is I’m still on good terms with a lot of past lovers. I already got consent from my most recent ex to tell everyone about Valentine’s Day sex using a vibrating #cockring 🍌so there’s a taste of that

Almost ready for the print on demand release of Vol 1!!!

Anyway, it will probably take just as long to get consent to sing the praises of my past lovers’ orgasams as it will to release these 4 books so I have time.

An oldie but a goodie! Buy now on Amazon! Then leave a review please!

In the meantime, read my book of #shortstories #lifeitsjustaphase by me #alannalp for a couple sexy stories and if you hop into on with #WhereThereIsNoNight and get deep in the series (past vol 1 due out soon) you’ll need to take a cold shower according to numerous beta readers 👅 check out Alanna L.P. on #Amazon to get scared with your sexuality.

The Tarot Tea Party was a Success!

The Invitation

I did my first Solstice ritual as an officer of my fraternity in December. After the ceremony, all of the attendees, officers and Master had a dialogue with our Provincial Master. The Provincial Master called us all to be of service because this is a time when people are desiring community.

I took that away and sat with it for a little while.

I had a very positive experience teaching a kid’s Tarot class so I thought that would be where I’d focus my energy in building community.

Then came my 40th birthday.

I invited several of my witchy friends to have dinner with me at one of my favorite Indian restaurants.

Several of my friends brought decks but we didn’t have time to do readings. So we all decided to get together to exchange readings in mid January.

Soon, people I didn’t know were coming to my party!

I made a facebook event to help me organize the day. But I forgot to make it invite only.

Soon people I didn’t know were coming!

At first I freaked out and tried to make the event invite only, but what was done was done.

Then, I remembered I put it out to the universe to help me meet new people and expand community so I decided to stay calm and throw an event.

I drummed up more interest and secured a venue.

My adopted father, Chris, and I got to work on the spreads we’d share and the graphics.

I outlined the flow and added some party favors and some games.

There were a couple little snags like Facebook flagging the event because the original time conflicted with an earlier event. I had to change the time and Facebook got mad (Gotta love Facebook).

But for the most part, the whole thing came together smoothly and effortlessly. People were excited and engaged on social media and even Hooked on Colfax, the coffee shop hosting Tarot Tea Party, joined the hype!

I went with the romantic look to host the event

We had a great group of people too. Everyone had a positive attitude and open mind. There was a fair amount of reading swapping, mingling and lots of smiles and laughter.

The one thing I heard from almost everyone I talked to who was at the tea party was that they got SOLID readings.

The next solid feedback was that everyone seemed to want to attend another Tarot Tea Party in the future.

I loved the energy of the event and also took some notes on what I’d like to improve on for the next tea party.

I’m thinking March will be the date of the next Tarot Tea Party. Make sure you like and follow Magdalena Tarot Inc. to stay in the loop!

So a good time was had by all.

A happy ending to a good day 💕☕

Magdalena Tarot Old Tyme Tarot Art Featured in the Creative Arts Club Surrealist Landscape Show

“Death XIII by Alanna L.P.

Magdalena Tarot Old Tyme Tarot Card “Death XIII” is Featured in the Creative Arts Club Surrealist Landscape Show opening on 1/8. It’s cool because they will be showing prints of my art! And I get half of the sales. They listed me as my birth name but it’s me

The fearured piece is ”Death XIII”, a surreal collage of the Death Tarot card that I created from my vast collection of rare antique and vintage post cards and photos.

I created The Old Tyme Tarot because I needed royalty free Tarot cards to accompany my column in Witch Way Magazine. I was inspired to use vintage and antique photos by the surrealist collages of John Craig for The Smashing Pumpkins album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

I worked at Antique Broker, an antique store in Denver, CO, on the weekends in exchange for vintage and antique photos. I chose a photo of an Indigenous scaffold burial for the desolate landscape. I did not include the actual scaffold burial because I didn’t think it was respectful, but I did include an image of a decaying animal from the landscape to capture the essence of death. I used photos of bombed out buildings from World War II because World War II didn’t just bring about the death of millions of people, it was the death of an era. I wanted the sky to look Apocalyptic so I and an antique postcard for the sunset.

But “ Death XIII” is part of a much bigger series. I actually have about half of a Tarot deck completed using the same process. I haven’t been able to work on it in a few years because I have to keep moving my office and funds are tight, but I want share what I have so far because I’m proud of the project.

You can view the completed cards at the included link.

If there’s an image you would like to see printed, let me know and I’ll make it available for you as I work on making collectable prints of the best cards available on my art Etsy! (Link in comments) My idea is to sell them as collectible cards that can be used as postcards, frameable art or even used to build your own deck
