When I Look to Love, I Find True Abundance

I look around and see a lot of people struggling right now just getting their basic needs met. People are losing their homes, their jobs, their businesses, their minds … it’s hard out there and I feel really blessed. I’m provided for, and I want to pause for a moment with gratitude.

Over the weekend I did my first Magdalena Tower pop up shop since 2019 and I felt so prosperous, not just with the crowds of people that flowed in and out of my shop, but also with the love of my friends and how my entire vintage and antique business fell in my lap in 2015. It’s a business that keeps on giving to me and as I move to open a store front, I’m grateful for all those who have helped along the way. I was also able to host Amanda E.K. and another friend’s first public tarot readings! How cool is that?

So when I read this quote as my morning mantra, I wanted to share with graditude

Channeling Buster: a Spooky Piano Lesson

Are you ready for a ghost story?

My partner, Zee, is patiently teaching me to play piano with equipment we bought at the church yard sale. I got a nice keyboard with a stand and Zee got a guitar amp.

Zee and I have been having regular “band practice”in the church ball room. Zee plays the guitar and I try to figure out what the hell I’m doing with a programmed beat on the keyboard.

Usually, I’m just practicing simple cords. But last night, all of a sudden, I busted into this bad ass rock piano solo.

Again: I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO.

Zee and I started jamming like a real rock band. And all of a sudden, I was belting this 1950s style rock-n-roll song about Friday night like a fucking rock star. The words didn’t feel like mine. The radio signal coming through knew how to sing and it didn’t hurt my vocal cords.

I was looking at my hands play this crazy, complex piano song and I was like “OK, we’re jamming with a ghost.”

When I channel, it’s like astral projection with my eyes open. My consciousness took a back seat, I stepped back, observed, in disbelief, at that a very talented rock musician on the other side was teaching me a thing or two about the piano.

My fingers flew up and down the keyboard. My two hands were doing different things. I rocked with the music. I have never been able to do this with the piano and it came through, naturally and with ease, line I’d been playing the piano since childhood. It felt like second nature.

Then my body slowed the beat down and Zee and I played a beautiful jazz song. It was wonderful receiving the gift of song so I could flow with my lover.

After that, I lost it.

When the spirit left, Zee was like “WTF??! YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO!!!”

And I was like, “I KNOW!!! NOW DO YOU BELIEVE I’M A PSYCHIC MEDIUM?! That wasn’t me. If you ask me to play that again, I couldn’t.”

We got out the Ouija Board and asked the ghost pianist to tell us his name. He said his name was Buster, and he died in 1956. He played piano at a neighborhood bar. He was young and getting ready to start recording his first single when he died in a car crash in California. He was getting ready to sign a record deal for his single, “Friday Night.”

The whole time I was playing I was thinking “This sounds like Great Balls of Fire.” So I looked up when that song came out: Oct 30, 1957. A year after Buster died. I was definitely feeling the vibe of that time in rock-n-roll in that song.

Zee and I decided to invite Buster to play with us again some day if he likes. He’s a good piano teacher and I’d like to work with him again.

You don’t have to believe me, but believe THIS:

They say some people just start playing an instrument or painting or writing one day out of nowhere and it works for them. They a spark that starts a new passion.

For me, that’s piano I guess.

Anyway, I’ll never be able to play that song again, but I did learn some tricks on the piano.

Mercury Stations Direct 10/2/2022

Mercury stationed direct today but don’t that doesn’t mean what a lot of people say it means.

There are a lot of people telling others things will start looking up astrologically but it seems these people haven’t done the #astrology for October or November.

Here’s my perspective based on what I’ve seen after charting the stars ahead of time:

First of all, Mercury stationing direct is not the be all end all of all the chaos. In reality, MercuryRetrograde drags out like a snail trail until we’re out of the post shadow period mid October.

So we’ll progressively see less disruptions but expect the unexpected for a little bit longer.

Then once Mercury Retrograde’s shit stains fade, we head into a dynamic eclipse season and a difficult Mars Retrograde during election season.

Moral of the story: we’re not through yet so make sure you still carry that umbrella

Random Acts of Kindness

I wasn’t going to tell this story because it was something that happened that I wanted to keep to myself. But after reading a story a woman told about buying a homeless woman a meal and how it inspired others to be kind and empathetic, I decided to share because we need more kindness in the world.

Last week I gave a homeless man a jacket I designed off my back because he told me it was beautiful. I looked at his grocery cart and felt how warm my jacket was. One of the aims of my fledging fashion line is activism and improving our community starts on a local level, person to person.

It was my first time wearing the jacket outside the house. The design is below. The jacket had a Bodhisattva on the back I thought about how in Buddhism, the aim is to be free from desire and attachment to material things. I thought about how those truly dedicated to a Buddhist path trade in their clothes for simple robes. I connected with the bodhisattva in that moment and knew giving the man my jacket was the right thing to do with colder weather on the way.

I offered the jacket to the man, who kept asking if I was sure and I said that he only had that cart. I told him it was OK because it was my design and I could order another one. He and his friends told me to have a good day. The man was holding up the jaket and examining it with a big smile on his face as I walked away. I felt a little shocked I gave someone the shirt off my back and decided to let the experience go because the good deed was done and there was nothing left to do or say.

Even if he traded it to get something he needed, it still helped.

It never hurts to be kind.

The Tower and Upcoming Surgery

August Daily Draw

On Monday I found out I need a 4th foot surgery. The funny thing is, I should have known from my monthly draw. It’s always a couple days early or late but it ALWAYS HITS. Pink is when I found out I need surgery. That was Monday’s. The Tower is tomorrow. All my jobs gave me the surgery go ahead so reluctantly, it’s a go

I have an old foot injury that causes me to fall and my doctor is concerned I will continue to have falls if I don’t get surgery. He said it never properly healed and the screw from a former surgery needs to come out in order for full recovery. My recovery time is estimated at 6 weeks total. I need this surgery and luckily I am being supported by my community.

Here’s to better health and a low key September.
