Bits and Bobs
Round up time. Here's where I've been browsing and carousing. Beware, linkage looms…

Mama?
First off, many thanks to Debra Gulea at Debra's Dolls who took time out from her business yesterday to answer an e-mail from a complete stranger. I wrote to Debra as part of my research into the internal mechanisms of 1890's talking dolls. Instead of deleting my message as SPAM, she sent me back more than enough information to prevent me making an ass of myself. (well - in regards to talking dolls I...

Men of Colour Anyone?

Razi and Wynter reunited.
I'm getting some fantasic entries for The Rebel Prince Competiton : truely brillaint. To be honest I'm getting scared how we're going to choose a winner. We're only two days into the nearly month long competition and the entries are already so strong.
I think, if there's anything that might tip the coin in an entrant's favour, it would be the inclusion of an actor of colour to play the role of Razi. So far only one contestant has done so, and all the other actors...

Fancy Being the first to read The Rebel Prince?
Ok guys, I just finished the final edits of The Rebel Prince. (Yeay!) and I thought I'd host a little competition to celebrate!
As you know, The Rebel Prince isn't due for release until the end of this year* but my generous editors ( Bella UK, Mary IRE, Donwong US, and Elise AUS/NZ) have given me the go-ahead to release one copy (just one!) in July! July folks! Four months ahead of schedule for most of the territories!
Do you fancy being first to The Rebel Prince? Yeah? Here's all you have to d...

Rebel Prince Competition in the works!

Want to win a copy a month before it's release date?
I have some cool things lined up this week - one of the coolest being a chance to win a special advance copy of The Rebel Prince!
It will literally be the first copy of The Rebel Prince to be made available to the public, which means the winner will get to read the final story in the trilogy as early as July, two months before the Australian release date and four months before the UK/US/IRE
So stay tuned to the blog this week, if all goes to...

Stephen Fry speaks on the Catholic Church.
Take twenty minutes and listen to this extraordinarily intelligent man speaking about the Catholic Church.
I have so much respect for him. Thanks to atheistplant for making this wonderful debate ( all of it) available online.

J'Adore my PC

Typist 1924 - oh boy. The technology!
So, I'm noodling my way through the first 100 pages of the work-in-progress. You know the drill; re-familiarising myself with the characters and the tone, getting back into the narrative flow, generally preparing to fling myself back down the rabbit hole. I'm gleefully snippeting and snappiting, restructuring and rewriting… and it occurs to me how bloody easy it all is! I mean how physically easy. If I don't like something, I just erase it with no loss of ...

And now, the end is near, and so I've reached…

The Rebel Prince Australia
So yesterday I handed over my final notes on the Australian edition of The Rebel Prince. It's going to the designers/typesetters today, apparently. (Thank you for working the weekend Ruth!!!!) and we should see paper copies by the end of the month!
Once again it has been beyond a pleasure working with my Aussie editor, Elsie Jones. You sick of me telling you what a doll she is, yet? How sharp her eye? How hilarious her sense of humour? Tough. I love Elise Jones. I...

Feel free, dear fanficcers. Feel free.
Apparently there is a kerfuffle on the interwebs re fanfiction*** Apparently, some authors find it offensive and annoying to have someone love their work so much that they'd be moved to write their own stories about it. Heh. Personally I think any author who is lucky enough to have fanfic based on their work should consider it a compliment and be flattered.
That is all.
