Moorehawke Audio Books

shhhhhh
I'm delighted to announce that Brilliance Audio have decided on Kate Rudd as the narrator of the Moorehawke Trilogy audio books! I'm absolutely delighted with the choice. Kate has a lovely rich timber to her voice, a real talent for acting and also great pace to her performance. If you'd like to hear some of her work, you can listen to an audio sample HERE where she is reading from J.L Smith's book Soulmate.
I'm very excited to hear what Kate does with Moorehawke. I've had quite a few c...

A Brief Creepy Interlude
So between the jigs and the reels I've been a little lax with the communications, and for that I apologise. I'm currently getting the July newsletter together ( again many apologies to those folks who are still waiting to be signed up. I promise I will have it all done this weekend) and will be sending that out very soon. In the meantime let me share this video with you.
You know I was in Bantry recently teaching a graphic novel course? Well, while there I fell in love with the marvellous

All Together at Last…
Somewhere deep in the antipodean wilds, there are three women I adore.
One of those women is Erica Wagner, she is the Allen and Unwin editor in chief. We first met at what was for me a very scarey dinner in Frankfurt. We were sat next to each other at a big table filled with publishing folks and eventually began a shy conversation. We sort of, without noticing, became engrossed. After a while, my agent began discretely coughing in an attempt to reminded us that I was supposed to be...

Merron Translations ( and a quick apology)
Firstly SORRY FOR THE SILENCE.

Razi discovers he doesn't need a translator to get the gist.
I have so much news and little shiney bits of information to share with you, but not a moment to do so!!!!! I may not be back online until the middle of next week, but I promise I will be back soon. Until then, a brief excerpt from a Q&A I did recently in which the oft mentioned Merron language sections in The Crowded Shadows came up. Folks wanted to know did you need to skip to the glossary at the...

Winners of the Rebel Prince Competition!
So we've been sorting and sifting, mulling and musing and scratching our heads since the Rebel Prince competition closed on July 22nd. It has not been easy. As you can tell from the previous posts, we've had one hell of a strong batch of submissions to choose from (and several late entries broke our hearts - we're sorry your photos didn't make it up onto the collage wall, folks! But thank you for taking the time to participate!)
I'm so grateful to my publishers at Orbit, The O'Brien Press and ...

Moorehawke Reader's Art :)
You might recall a while back, I shared an illustration of Wynter that had been drawn for me by one of my favourite readers, Laura.
Well I got some more wonderful illustrations in the mail a few days ago and I just have to share them with you. These quite seriously rock, my dearies. Even more so when you know they have been done by the outstandingly talented, internationally acclaimed Estonian translator Eve Laur - seriously, how much talent is one person allowed have? Shouldn't there be a q...

Scruffy Author, Beautiful Book.
Just dashing back in to show you what I got in the post today. OK, so it's not the most glamorous photo of me ever taken - I just ran in from the rain and I'm wearing my gardening clothes - but look at what's in my grubby paws! Go h-iontach, nach é?
SO many thanks to my two editors in Orbit, the lovely Bella Pagan (UK) and Song Dongwon Song (USA) and to all in the design and art departments - especially Steve Stone and Peter Cotton - who've worked to make this such a sumptuous book! (I love...

A multitude of Christophers.
Well, Christopher Garron proved to be his usual awkward self here. It took me forever to get him online. I had to finally chop him into very small pieces before he would agree to show his face. Hmmmm – now that I come to think of it, that's quite poetically apt. Christopher, you dawg!
I like the smiling Christophers the best, me. (smiling - not smirking) Though I must say, Gaspard Ulliel and Ben Whishaw do look suitably amused and dangerous without their smiles. I know who my top three are h...
