Loups-Garous at Orbit

On the Wolves' Tail - a scene from THE CROWDED SHADOWS

When Moorehawke first took shape in my head, the Loups-Garous were just humans. Members of a well structured organisation of men who travelled out from central bases of operation (compounds in the Russias, the Moroccos and Europes) and made a rich living from banditry, mercenary activities and (of course) the trading in slaves. Rebel Prince Q&A

Ivan O'Brien of The O'Brien Press took this footage of me answering questions at the Mountains to the Sea festival.

The sound is a little echoy, and it's just a small segment of a much longer session, but I think you can see how much fun I was having here ( this was part of my joint reading with Sarah Rees Brenann, who was an absolute blast to work with.)

Mini Moorehawkes at the Rebel Prince Launch!

mini moorehawke books!

mini moorehawke books!

How awesome are these little mini books? They were made as a gift for me by the talented Nyukkaa both to celebrate the launch of the final Moorehawke book, and also to mark my very last launch party ( I won't be throwing no more) They're real books! With beautiful, traditionally bound pages and proper covers and everything.  Folks at the party could not stop touching them ( Seriously! I had to finally rescue them. I was so afraid they'd be destroyed) Anna ( Nyukkaa) had ...

The Demon's Lexicon: Book 1 in Demon's Lexicon trilogy

SO, next weekend sees the launch party for Irish edition of The Rebel Prince ( Saturday, the 11th September,  8pm in the Crannóg bookshop in Cavan Town to be precise) If the last two launch parties are anything to go by, I shall be dancing my little feet off until the wee hours of Sunday morning, rejoicing, carousing, generally making merry as if the sun were doomed to ne'er again rise.

But...

Limited Edition Moorehawke Art Giveaway.

working on the promotional art for UK release.

working on the promotional art for UK release.

When Orbit asked would I do some limited edition artwork for the UK release of The Crowded Shadows I was more than happy to oblige. I always draw when working on a book. I draw the characters, I draw scenes from the story, sometimes I even do wee comic strips. It's my way of blowing off steam when writing is stressing me out. So, as you can imagine, I've been drawing the Moorehawke characters for years at this stage, and I've a pretty clear...

Bette & Joan: The Divine Feud

20th Anniversary Edition of My Favourite Guilty Pleasure

20th Anniversary Edition of My Favourite Guilty Pleasure

Hi guys, I am up to my eyeballs at the moment, catching up on long neglected reader mails and sign ups for the newsletter**, plus doing promotional work for the Irish release of The Rebel Prince and UK release of The Crowded Shadows***, not to mention trying hard to maintain my daily writing schedule. (all of which is code for 'I love my life, I just wish I didn't have to sleep.')

Anyhoo - in the midst of all this mayhem and madness I...

Speaking of Bodhrans

Remember we were discussing Christopher's drum solo HERE? Well, check out this incredibly good bodhran* solo - it'll give you some idea of what Christopher would have been able to do up on that stage in the 'Merron' chapter of The Crowded Shadows'

This is Eamon Murray playing a Bodhran Solo in Austria in 2005

Thanks to Timothy for the idea of linking to a bodhran solo!

More Amazing Reader's Artwork

You might recall a while back my sharing some fabulous fanart done by the talented Estonian translator Eve Laur?

Well, to my joy, Eve's reading of The Crowded Shadows has inspired her to do some more! I didn't think her earlier work could be topped, but you know what? I actually think these are even better! I love love LOVE this drawing of Christopher. As usual Eve put so much thought into this, as her following note attests:

I tried all sorts of patterns for that drum, Old German animal...
